    Breakfast shot- highly recommend

Service was great. Came in for a salad (there are not a lot of places in the area with salad offerings). Food was good. Tried the breakfast shot which I'd never heard of- butterscotch schnapps, piece of bacon with OJ back. Its amazing! Tasted just like breakfast

Rooster's is one of those rare spots that never lets you down. We popped in for lunch and everything was on point from the second we walked in. We were seated right away (huge win at lunchtime), and our server was genuinely friendly -- not the fake "scripted" kind, but the actually-enjoys-their-job kind. The food came out ridiculously fast, piping hot, and full of flavor. I swear they have a kitchen wizard back there turning out meals at record speed. The vibe? Classic roadhouse -- fun, lively, and laid-back without being overwhelming. It's the type of place you feel comfortable bringing kids, friends, or even out-of-towners you're trying to impress with Denton's hidden gems. Pros: Seated quickly, even at lunch rush Super friendly and efficient staff Food came out FAST and tasted amazing Generous portions that actually fill you up Prices that make you double-take in a good way -- plenty of food without wrecking your wallet Cons: Leaving so full you need a nap is kind of inevitable Parking can be a headache during peak hours (but worth it once you're inside) Bottom line: Rooster's is the definition of a Denton staple. Great food, shockingly fast service, friendly staff, and prices that make eating out actually feel reasonable again. It's the kind of place that turns "just lunch" into your new favorite tradition.

I love Rooster's Roadhouse! We've been coming here ever since I moved to Denton about two years ago for college, and it's become one of my go-to spots. It's such a classic Denton place, and it never misses. Their chicken nuggets are seriously so good--probably my favorite thing on the menu. Every now and then we try the special of the day, and it's always a hit. The food is consistently amazing, and the vibes are just right. Anytime I have family come to town, we make sure to stop by Rooster's. The service is always friendly, the food never disappoints, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming. If you're in Denton, you have to check this place out.

The bill. $33 for lunch. A bit pricey but it was delicious

Stopped by for lunch and the food was excellent. Service was quick and the ambiance was fun. I ordered the two meat platter with sausage and pulled pork with side dish of slaw was very good and served with homemade chips and Texas toast. Other dish we had was their famous hamburger and it did not disappoint. A bit on the pricey side for two lunch meals $33.

We stopped in as a party of 5 Sunday evening, and were acknowledged right away by the bartender but had to wait a little over 5 mins for someone to actually come and seat us. Our server was very nice and efficient. We ordered fried pickles and fried jalapeños as well as the queso, salsa and chips - everything was yummy. My kids both ordered the steak fingers and fries and enjoyed their meals. We ordered two single meat plates with chopped meat- chopped brisket onion rings and okra and the Tennessee Texas hot sandwich with chips. Tennessee Texas hot sandwich was misleading bc it was not spicy although the breading was red and was not flavored. It was very underwhelming but everything else was great. I will say, Bathrooms were small and dirty. My son went into the men's restroom and walked right back out stating it was too dirty for him to use. If in the area, we would prob stop again.

We stopped at Rooster's in Denton, Texas after seeing several positive reviews, but it turned out to be another swing and a miss on this road trip. The service was okay--our server was friendly but not very consistent when it came to drink refills. The food overall was average at best. My wife ordered the barbecue, which she said was below average. One of my sons had chicken strips, which were just standard--nothing memorable. My other son got a patty melt and said it was just "okay." I ordered a burger that was also just average--decent enough to eat, but nothing that would make me want to return. The atmosphere was about what you'd expect from a bar-style restaurant. There was good seating, and TVs all around, so I was able to catch some of the Women's College World Series while we ate. That was probably the highlight. Ultimately, while the experience wasn't terrible, it definitely wasn't great either. If I'm ever back in Denton, I won't be returning to Rooster's.

Customer service outstanding! Shelby was attentive and made sure that I was good! Sushi tasted too cheesy; it could be my tastebuds though. I will try again because I had them in the past and enjoyed them. Shelt recommended the nachos they smell wonderful and are absolutely delicious! Black beans are seasoned well and just enough peppers to give it a kick.

Even on a Saturday night we were seated right away with a party of 6. The food is amazing. I love the chicken fried steak. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Their drinks are delicious as well. There is so much good food in the Denton Square this is a place to make sure to visit. Good food good service!

The overall experience could have easily been a 5 star but the service fell short. The food at was delicious, but the service left much to be desired. Despite the tasty dishes, the inattentive server affected the overall dining experience. She seemed more engaged at all of her other tables than she was at our table, guessing she couldn't find a common ground . Watching the same server with a burst of energy at every other table was interesting . The King Brisket Burger was delicious- the burger was loaded from top to bottom, the patty was well seasoned and the brisket was tender. The fries were also good, there was an up charge of 3 dollars for switching from chips to fries ... . The restaurant was spacious and clean. I ordered a one meat plate to go ( brisket with a side of corn salad. It was delicious as well.

And the house made dipping sauce - mmmmm good! Our waiter was great! I met a friend and we were catching up on time instead of looking at the menu, and he was very patient with us. This is why my rating is only based on the food quality. Brisket and Queso $10 Smoked brisket, Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, cilantro. A little too high for an appetizer, but the queso and brisket were good. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, the sweetness was a clash for me. The chips were also way too salty. The house salad $14 was an XL salad for sure! Everything was so good and fresh. They kindly brought me extra cheese and grilled jalapeños. The ranch was just right too! Downside: my patty was over-seasoned and overcooked. My partner purchased their most basic burger, the Waylon $12, the fries are sold separately. This burger was small, and once again, the patty itself was a disappointment. Texas sun cocktail was refreshing but just a simple pineapple and vodka mix.

I'm not sure how that happens when ordering a combo (I paid $9.31 and the combo was $9.99), but I didn't want to make a fuss since I knew it wasn't the $10.81 with tax (I thought she gave me a student discount or something) and was open to paying whatever difference. I DID chuckle though, thinking, 'they really want this $1.00 and some change,' but I charged it to economy-- and hard times. However, I was told the fries would be an additional $2.59, which is full price. Huh? I attempted to gain understanding, which I'm sure the pressure for the additional money was coming from the man cooking vs. the lady as the messenger, but didn't understand and wasn't paying full price. Fast forward to receiving food, I was told they allowed a 1/2 order of fries since I didn't purchase them. I was done. Chyle... food was terrible. Honey mustard wings were overcooked, tasteless and drowned in sauce. My "free" 1/2 order of fries were cooked too hard for the size. No one in our party was impressed and we felt the food was extremely bland (mind you we ordered a bit of everything). Upon leaving we went straight to Jersey Mike's. This used to be a place we'd frequent if in the area, but it's gone further downhill. It's sad because we love family owned restaurants--but we will not return.
