Meeting a friend up in Denton and decided to check out Rooster's. The service was quick and friendly. Started with the fried pickles which had a great cornmeal batter and tasted handmade. This place is in such a cute area, and you walk inside and get that dive-y diner-ish vibe and I was just obsessed with it. We walked in around 7pm for dinner on a Wednesday, it was semi empty, but within minutes the place was totally packed. And for good reason! The food is delicious, rooster tails were so crispy, and that side sauce (can't remember the name of it) was just to die for! It was spicy creamy deliciousness. Important notice.... try the Breakfast Shot. That's all my friend could talk about was this amazing shot that taste like pancakes. He wasn't lying. The shot has 3 parts. You down a mixture of ? peach liquor? and Jameson first and then a shot of OJ and lastly a crisp piece of bacon to finish off your breakfast, lol. It amazing but the first mixture smells just like pancakes. It's sooooo good. We had a couple of those shots. We also did a Grape Soda shot. It taste just like a grape soda and you can't taste any alcohol. Since we had already eaten up the road we didn't have any food but the menu is full of very unique items. We've come here for many years and have always loved this place. We come here for my mom's birthday, she passed away in 2015 and this was her favorite restaurant. When we came today we did not a very great experience.. I started off with a Buckle bunny lemonade and was given a water from the west. I had three people to try it to make sure I wasn't being dramatic, when I told the waitress what happened she gaslit all of us to say we were wrong. When my 1 meat plate showed up there was no bbq sauce, again no big deal. My sister ordered the brisket queso with no bbq sauce and was given bbq sauce in it. When asked for it to be fixed we were given attitude. AND THEY BROUGHT IT BACK WITH BBQ SAUCE. We then asked for a slice of cheese and pickles for my sister's sandwich and was looked at like we were crazy. Then when it was brought to us she basically threw it at us. In all just a bad experience. The attitude and the multiple mistakes was a mess.. we asked for a manager and apparently there aren't any on staff. read more

Great atmosphere. Patio in front and back, just off the Denton square. We subbed fries for the potato chips on a basket. I really liked the fries, salty, crunchy and thin. We got the chez bubba basket. Very tasty! Lots of TVs and drink specials. Family friendly. They do have peanuts in the shell that you can get in a bucket so if you have nut allergies steer clear. The bbq Queso is really good, definitely has pickles in it and it gives it a hint of sweetness to go with the deliciously bitter bbq. The French fries are crunchy and a bit airy, great balance of salt. The Jalapeño bacon burger is true to its name. SPICY KICK. Needs more sauce though. This is a cool place that we stumbled upon on our way out of Texas! Really cool casual vibe! Reasonable priced drinks! They had a Bloody Mary bar with double shots for $3!!! This is a great place for a good tasty meal. Their Brisket Burger is a good mix of meat and flavor, while their Pit Sandwich is a tasty mix of meats. We LOVE Roosters. I have been coming here for years, & we still try to make it out once a month to eat a bite as a family. Now, the area/neighborhood is being renovated & spruced up, & is quite a happening area. Roosters staff are always nice & helpful, very attentive, even outside on the front or back patio. Try an off the menu item called sloppy tots, which are tatem tots smothered in home-made sloppy joe, sauteed onions, tons of cheese, hot af jalapenos, served with 4anch dressing...NOPE, this is NOT DOET FOOD, & sure as hell isnt whole-30 or KETO, but it's a treat once a month my family is bananas for. My kids usually enjoy the sloppy joe meal with home-cooked kettle chips, but last night my oldest ordered the catfish/shrimp special & he enjoyed it quite a bit! There is a rice bowl on the menu featuring grilled zucchini, yellow squash, grilled mushrooms, and yellow onion with grilled chicken. It is a light dish, and quite tasty! Try their bloody mary bar, or cockeyed lemonade for a grown-ups only treat as well...all drinks are customizable with garnishes, and flavors...It does get packed quickly on weekends and they dont take reservations, so go early and be prepared to struggle with parking... Cool vibe inside & outside too. We LOVE SITTING on the back patio when the weather is nice. TV with sports on always. Very eclectic, and has become a downright staple go-to spot in Denton now. We were a large party so the service was a bit spotty but they recognized that, acknowledged it and tried to make it better. I would give them four stars for the quality of service.
