****BEWARE**** the sinks in my bathroom were clogged so I called Rooter Guard. They sent a plumber out by the name of George. When he arrived, I could already tell he was in a foul mood so I asked him all his day was going. He replied, "I'm tired." Ok, no big deal. He entered my place and inspected my bathroom sinks (I have his & her sinks). He refused to put a snake down the drains to clear it, but instead said that he needed to BREAK DOWN MY WALL to get to the pipe that's behind the wall. He also said it would cost $1400!!!! He asked if he should leave and I said I was going to get a 2nd opinion. I had another plumber come out today who cleared the clog without any issues. George & Rooter Guard are crooks who either didn't take the time to do a thorough inspection because George was "tired" or they just don't have the expertise to properly do the job. Either way, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS BEFORE YOU ARE ROBBED. If you notice, all the 5 star reviews are by those Yelpers with 0 friends/previous reviews. I should've listened to the previous 1 star reviews because they were spot on in describing the experience. read more

Rick was amazing. He showed up on time and did a great job. He replaced corroded valves in our upstairs bathroom. He did everything quick and neat. He also advised on other work that needs to be done in the future. He checked the supply stores online about pricing, to save us money on parts. I think not everyone cares about customer's budget but Rick does. He found the best pricing and showed us the pictures. We have already put him on schedule the coming week to get parts and to do the repair. I can't say enough good things about Rick. I think we didn't pay him enough for his hard work this time, me and my family want to leave a good review to express how thankful we are and we are looking forward for next week's appointment. Plumbing companies are notorious for overcharging the consumers, especially when faced with the emergency situation, but Rooterguard outdid everybody. They were called in on an emergency basis due to the tree root issue in the sewer line. They opened up the ground did the usual camera test and their salesman provided us with the estimate for repairs in the amount of $3,400.00. We obviously agreed faced with the emergency situation of sewer blockage. The next morning, while the the work was already in progress, this very "honest" rep. showed up and informed us that whatever we signed up for will not alleviate the problem , since there is another couple of feet of rooted pipe that needs to be removed and it would cost us ........$9,000 total !!!!!!!! But, he will be gracious enough and reduce the price down to $6,500.00, instead of the agreed $3,400a day earlier. What were we supposed to do under the circumstances, when the initial work was about to be completed, but would not solve the issue? Lose $3,400 for basically nothing? We agreed and eventually paid them an extra $3,100, so that they could end this nightmare. This is how they are taught to perform. Once they realize, (the next day), when the ground was opened and the customer is in a hurry to get everything to working order, he has no leverage in negotiations any more, and is in dire need to get his water back, they get to do whatever they want and name whatever price they want and guess what.....it works for them. This is an example of how innocent consumers get ripped off by unscrupulous sales reps of these companies, who get a good chunk of commission (probably as much as 50% , if not more). As an engineer and builder myself, I take good care of my house infrastructure. I decided to do a maintenance rootering of my sewer this past weekend. The dispatcher's response was prompt and their field personnel was on time and knowledgeable. I was initially troubled by having to pay for an expensive hydro jet job, but let them do the work anyway. The work quality was pretty decent. After hearing my complaint about the expensive hydro het job, their operation manager Raymond called me up this morning and squared the issue away. This past Saturday I required a drain cleaning service for my cottage in Santa Monica. After reviewing several listings on Yelp I contacted your company and was told that a technician could be on-site within 2 hours. I discussed your advertised rate of $59.00 per drain and was told that was correct. $59 or It's Free Drain Clearing + 2 Hour Arrival* Sale Price$59.00 (whatever that means). Your technician (Oscar) arrived at 1PM and with my tenant present said that there were 3 drains that may be needed to be snaked and the price may be $146.00. I said if 3 drains needed to be snaked "so be it". Fifteen minutes later he had snaked one drain (the bath/shower) and the problem was solved. One drain! He came to me and wanted $146.00. I said he snaked 1 drain...$59.00! He said there were 2 additional sinks in the house making it 3 drains. He didn't snake those sinks/drains. 1 drain $59.00! He said $146.00 or nothing. Well, I have had leaky toilets and sink for over a year and it was time to get them fixed. So I just typed in Plumber on Yelp and Rooter Guard and 3 other names popped up. I looked at all the reviews and decided to call Rooter Guard and I'm glad I did. Incredible service! Within 2 hours they came to my house and started working on replacing 2 toilets, a new kitchen faucet, a drain plug in the bathroom and they stayed till 10:30pm at night. I could not believe it. The plumber named Juan and Manager Raymond where so nice and experts in there field. The owner even texted me to make sure I was pleased and I was. Patty in the office was so nice and very attentive to my needs and timeline for this job which was pretty big. So they came back the next day and finished the whole job by 1pm They are on call 24/7 which other companies do not offer. I have 2-New Toilets, a New Kitchen Faucet and all leaks and plumbing are Done at a very fair and Great Price. They went way beyond the norm of plumbing excellence. The most dishonest and unprofessional service I have ever received: After removing the kitchen faucet filter to try to fix the dripping issue, the plumber apparently disposed of it WITHOUT my consent (or accidentally took him with him?). Now I have a faucet with no filter. The plumber tried to mix the garbage disposal, but by doing so he disconnected it and flooded the underneath cabinet. The plumber was unprepared and did not have a bucket with him to mitigate the flooding. He then grabbed one of my kitchen bowls to collect the water, without asking. He then asked to use one of my bath towels to sweep the flood. He left both the bowl and towel on the floor with water all around, and said he will fix next day after we approve the invoice (although we did not even have an invoice to review at that time!). Is this your company strategy to force clients into a contract prior to disclosing pricing, by purposely leaving the work unfinished causing an urgent need for additional service? That is unprofessional, personnel should carry a bucket and clean rags with them when altering a plumbing system that can cause water damage. The proposal we received for the repairs is atrociously over-priced. Being in the construction industry, I perfectly know pricing ranges for two faucets and one garbage disposal including a day of install. When third party plumbers reviewed that pricing they were laughing at that price for being so absurd! I requested fixtures product data (brand and model number) to be able to review design and product information. Obviously, the estimator never provided such transparency since he was trying to scam us. This experience with Rooter Guard is by far the worst customer service I have ever received and truly an unethical, dishonest and unprofessional organization. read more

I called Rooterguard to fix 2 slow bathroom sink drains because they advertised $59 to fix drains. I did not think it a realistic price but I called anyway thinking at most I'd be charged $150. Their technician came, looked around and said the work would involve going thru the vent with high pressure something or other and would cost $700 to $800. This is needed because the sinks were not connected to the main line. I declined. I called around and found someone to do the job for $160. No high pressure machine was used. The fellow disconnected the P Trap and ran his rooter thru the pipe fixing the problem. read more

Called RooterGuard because of their TV advertisement to clear sinks for $59. My sink was draining slowly, but they insisted on going under the house and I needed a "hydro Jet" for my pipes at $750 ( I found other plumbers coupons who would do it for $499.) The next day they came out with a camera and tried to sell me $3,000 chain rooter scaling for my pipes. When I asked them to leave and I wasn't paying any more, they did something to my pipes so they would back up completely (which wasn't happening before.) They are a scam. They offer a small price, than a $750 job and than a $3,000 job. I've called another plumber who did the job for $149. Don't trust the hype. They will upsell you and if you don't agree, they sabotage your pipes. Never should have been sold by the TV ad. If it wasn't for the internet, I wouldn't know their were lots of other people who have been ripped off the same way. I wish I could get my money back. Beware of these rip off plumbers. read more

Called got a quote for $350 and set an appointment for first thing in the morning which was 8am. Was very pleased with the quick availability. However No one showed up till 11am. When they arrived they gave me an outrageous "updated" quote for $1200 and said he could do it for $825 then $725 as if he is doing me a favor... No thank you. If they came on time and did this maybe it wouldn't have been as bad but the multiple issues really left me with a bad taste regarding this company. I woke up the other morning to my toilet not working. It was super annoying. I'm guessing my roommate probably threw some paper towels or something in there, but either way, my toilet wouldn't flush.
