The ambiance here was so cute and the matchatinis were amazing!! They had a lime flavor to them as well. My meal was tasty and the service was quick (granted, I visited on a weeknight).

Love the ambiance and all of the plants! The latte I had was made with oat milk and the espresso was delicious! We did order a breakfast Sammy with turkey and that was yummy too! This is a great spot for you to just chill and bring your laptop to enjoy a good calm coffee shop environment.

I stumbled on this place after seeing it advertised on TikTok. I have never been so happy to find a niche coffee place like Roots as I am now. What a great place. Service is very speedy, the menu of food is incredibly delicious and packed full of flavors. The lattes I've had twice there already hav been brewed with skill and left me wanting another cup. Parking is pretty easy for the city and they have some outdoor seating. Once inside, you have to order before you're allowed to sit at a table. This seems to be a trending triage method for Charlotte these days so if you're going with kids, be ready to not have a table until someone leaves. I love the decor; so cozy and maximalist. I certainly recommend everyone to visit here at least once!! You won't regret it!!

Pulled up before a haircut - first time in. The place is really cool inside and has a comfortable and clean vibe. I ordered a breakfast burrito to go - because I wanted something fast. That was what was suggested - also got an Americano. I was in and out in probably 5 minutes. Very solid! I would come back for sure.

Great food, coffee, and atmosphere. Cant go wrong with any of the breakfast sandwiches and lattes. Easy grab and go or sit down and hang out. Bronx breakfast sandwich is spectacular.

Leaving 4 stars because they were so slammed and took forever to get our food. I dont know the situation in the kitchen if they can fit more cooks they definitely need too but I know it's small so I dont know if they can. Didnt see what it looked back there. Otherwise food is very good and worth the wait. Seating is also very limited as well as parking

Upon entering the ambiance was quiet with modern decor. Server was warm, welcoming & provided input on menu options. Hummus tasted fresh & creamy. So enjoyable I almost finished it before remembering to take a pic lol. I enjoyed the pecan maple bar & caramel chocolate chip cookie equally. The blt was by far one of best I've tasted. Unfortunately, the star topper cocktail didn't taste how I'd imagined it would & left me with an off putting aftertaste.

I love Roots Cafe! It's such a vibe & I stumbled across it one day searching for coffee shops. I drive about 25 minutes just to get a bacon, egg & cheese croissant because it's so good. I've also tried their latte. There's indoor & outdoor seating. The dining area is so small but I never had issues with finding a table, regales of how crowded they seem. There's small and large tables with plugs for computers & phones. Love this place. Came here and was able to brainstorm on some projects & have a nice bite to eat on a few occasions.

Service is attentive and considerate. We sat outside on a gorgeous Saturday. The tables were very clean and nicely spaced. Our order came out very quickly. The flavor is great and the combo of veg/protein is perfect. We will return!

If you're looking for a quaint, homey coffee shop in the heart of the city.. then look no further than Roots Cafe in South End!! This location is almost hidden around the corner from the Atherton shopping center, but that factor helps create the calm ambiance of the space. I got the BELT sandwich which included bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato and the star of the show.. the pesto spread!! This delicious sandwich paired with an iced latte was a perfect brunch! The cafe had lots of parking but limited seating inside, though they did have a small patio. I'd love to go back to try one of their other sandwich options!

Great honey lavender latte. Breakfast sandwich was good. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Very busy inside. Also serves lunch

I used to love visiting the food truck when I worked uptown and the cafe did not disappoint! The chicken and dumplings were outstanding.

The atmosphere was nice, it has the "work on your laptop or catch up with friends" cafe vibe. Somewhere you can hang for several hours and sip and coffee as you work/talk. I don't think I was the target demographic for this cafe sadly. I ordered a BE&C on a bagel. I originally had planned to go to a more "bagel-focused" shop, but they were closed. That's where I feel I was not the target demographic; I was looking to just order a bagel on my morning commute. I should have noticed the atmosphere/vibe of the cafe and realized that this was not going to be fast. It ended up taking over 30 minutes from the time I paid to the time I got my food (genuinely, I looked at the time my credit card was swiped and compared it to the time it was when I got my food). Now, I will say, if I had ordered coffee and brought a book, the wait probably wouldn't have been too much of a bother. The staff was really friendly, and the bathrooms were also very clean! The bagel was not my favorite bagel, but it was on par for a non-bagel-focused coffee shop. It wasn't bad by any means, but I would not order it if you were wanting "real" bagel. Edit: owner made a good point regarding the wait and was correct that I did not notice the disclaimer regarding the wait! I updated the rating to reflect my newer perspective.

Matcha latte and Cronut…read more Coco and the Director is my go-to coffee stop in Uptown--especially when I'm craving a cronut. The cronuts are the real star here. They sell out quickly, so the move is to get there early and grab one while it's still warm. Trust me, if you're going to get one, get two. The café sits inside the lobby level of the Charlotte Marriott City Center, which makes it easy to access if you're already walking around Uptown. If you're doing a quick drive-by, just be friendly with the valet--tip them and pop inside to grab your coffee and pastry. They offer a full coffee program with plenty of alternative milk options (oat milk is my current go-to). I also appreciate the little details like turbinado sugar, bamboo stir sticks, and recyclable cups, which give the place a sustainable touch. The space itself is really stylish and comfortable. There's even a small amphitheater-style seating area, making it a cool spot to hang out, meet friends, or get some work done for a while. Insider tip: Go early for the cronuts--they disappear fast. Overall, it's a fun Uptown café with great coffee, a beautiful space to work or relax, and one of the best cronut stops in the area.

The baristas were very friendly and patient and the service was fast. We sat in a little living room at first, them moved to a table, and finally took advantage of the stair seats. The coffee was pretty good, nothing extraordinary, but it did the job. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and delicious. We never made it back, but I'm glad I got to pop in for a bit. Not even one coffee pic?!??
