We had really high hopes coming into this place, but we were sorely disappointed. When we looked at the menu, the only options they had were a couple burritos with either pulled pork or ground beef, a quesadilla, or Chiles rellenos. We got the two Colorado burritos, one verde and one pulled pork quesadilla because they don't have chicken. I ordered a drink and poured it from the automatic machine. The Minute Maid lemonade I got was sparkling! I don't know if the wires were crossed for the water feeder or something but it was weird. When we started eating the burritos, all four of us got stomach cramps from the heat and it doesn't help that the burrito is filled with MEAT ONLY. There is nothing to quench the heat. Also, no chips or salsa served or available to order. We left after getting through about a quarter of a burrito and got dinner elsewhere. We also stopped by the grocery store to get sour cream, guac, and cheese hoping to salvage the burrito for lunch the next day. It was still so unbearably hot that we threw it all out. read more

What a delicious place!! We finally made it in to try out this local Mexican restaurant that I've been seeing on my Yelp activity feed constantly. I really didn't expect it to be so amazing... I mean, how special can burritos really be?! Really freakin' special. My husband got the breakfast burrito, but the real winner was my chile Colorado. Sooo good! It was spicy - too spicy for my husband. But so flavorful! The chile verde is supposed to be even spicier! The guy told some customers with children to be careful because he's seen it make children cry, ha! Now that's spicy! I can't wait to go back and try more items. This is a small place and easy to miss on the main road. There's parking around back if you miss the few spots out front. The food was very good, but they have limited options. You order at the counter and have a seat at one of the few tables. The service was fine and the wait for food wasn't too bad. We were there for a late lunch on a Sunday, so it wasn't very crowded. This is a quaint little place in the middle of Ogden. It has a medium sized "Cafe" sign out front with limited parking in the back. I ordered a Chile Colorado smothered burrito with rice and beans. It was fantastic. A great amount of spice and heat. The pork inside of the burrito was tender and extremely flavorful. The rice and beans weren't just a filler, they were incredible, homemade and full of flavor. The service was 5 stars. Rosa herself served me my food. Her grandson checked on me twice to make sure I was ok. The inside of the cafe was EXTREMELY clean. I was very impressed. No dust or grime on anything in sight. Not even the window seals. read more

A sign on the door reads "Small place. Big flavor." and they aren't kidding. There are only 4 tables in the restaurant and some seats at a bar. I can imagine this place could be claustrophobic, but the food is worth it. After seeing all the 5 star reviews I decided to give Rosa's a try and I was not disappointed. The menu is just a small as the dining room, but that's okay. It makes ordering a meal very easy! I had the chili verde burrito, and it was delicious. Went with the kids and tried the chili verde and colorado burritos, and the picadillo plate. Both chilis were very good, the verde very rich and with some heat. Small menu that changes daily. The bread pudding dessert was also delicious. Soft drinks only, but would be great to have a beer with a burrito. Hopefully that is in the cards in the future. Surprisingly authentic in the little old town of Ogden! I ordered the tamale special smothered in red and green sauces. Ugh, looked so good after walking in the cold all afternoon! Tamarindo and horchata on tap, this place is all about providing the comfort of a Mexican home kitchen to a hidden diner on the outskirts of downtown. Strongly recommend checking them out for thei home style meals! When my smothered tamales came out, I thought to myself MAN that's a lot of sauce! I hope it's not to salty... but oh was I totally WRONG! The sauce wasn't overly salty at all... it was actually jam packed with the true flavor of roasted peppers!!!! AHHHHH! I spent most of my life growing up in Tucson, AZ and Rosa's is as delicious as any Mexican food I had there. The pork in the pork chile verde is tender and melts in your mouth. But the sauce. Oh my goodness the sauce! Both the chile verde and chile colorado have an incredible depth of heat and spice. Fair warning: It can get hot, but that doesn't diminish the flavor one bit. Finally tried this place after many years of friends telling me about the great food. I regret not coming here sooner! This very small place could be easily missed on Washington Blvd, as it only has a sign that says "CAFE" outside. approximatly 5 tables (seating 4 each) and a long counter are the only seating available. Don't let this discourage you, though! We went for lunch during a weekday, and walked right in. Go to the far end of the counter to place your order, then have a seat. We ordered the Chili Colorado burrito and the Chili Verde burrito. The Colorado had a very good spicy heat to it, not too much, not too little. A wonderful taste sensation! The Verde was also as good as it gets, and it has become our gold standard by which to judge Chili Verde at any other restaurant we go to. Both were loaded with meat, and the dishes also came with rice and beans. The menu is not large (personally, I think that is a good thing, since you don't have to agonize over 30 or more different items like a typical restaurant), but there is something here for everyone. This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Friendly employees, patrons who obviously come here often, and, of course, some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Very reasonable prices, and plenty of food (we each took half of ours home). Whenever possible, I encourage people to try locally-owned businesses like Rosa's over the "big name" national establishments. This is a gem of a place in Ogden, and we need to do our part to keep them going! Just don't wait as long as I did to try them out! read more

Now, I'm pretty ignorant as far as different variations of South American food outside of the traditional Americanized Mexican food and then some El Salvadorian food, but in terms of favorites, this is by far my top choice for best food type ever in my book. Mexican food is perfect. And this place is close to heaven. Homemade tortillas, yum. Delicious plates of juicy marinated meats, mhmm. Rice and beans near perfection, yes. All served up in an unassuming, cleanly corner cafe in Ogden. Bonus? The menu is SIMPLE. No fancy add-ons. I can count on my hand the choices. And all are as delicious as the last. There's not a lot open at 9 o'clock in the morning. I was looking for something quick something cheap and something good. I scored on all 3 counts! This is the closest authentic Mexican food I've had since I left California! No frills and it's kind of a hole in the wall restaurant but I found over the years those are the best kinds.
