Finally there is a jerk restaurant in Chicago that understands the art of jerk. The flavor profiles. Portion sizes. I had the jerk chicken and my husband had the oxtails. No. Notes. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The spice wasn't overwhelming on the tongue but sat right in your chest like it's supposed to. The oxtails were meaty and tender. Rice and peas--correct Cabbage--correct Mac and cheese--correct Cornbread--correct I'm ordering Festival next time because if they did all of this correctly, I can only imagine how it is fried correctly lol. This meal deserves a breakdown. That Mac and cheese was a little on the dry side but it wasn't bad, it just wasn't the best. That was the only bad thing about the whole evening. The jerk chicken was spicy jerk but not unbearable and incredibly juicy. That oxtail was so delightful, I'm going to need more of that very soon. The rice and beans were delicious and got two heaping scoops and plantains. The service was great and I am sad that this place was empty on a weekday dinner time. They were running on a limited menu but I am coming back for that bbq combo. Mark my words. The restaurant was spacious and clean. Parking could be a little tricky but we parked in the street and paid for parking , the food was so good that I am not even mad about it. The service was impeccable and got to thank the chef for a wonderful meal. He was doing everything from cooking and cleaning. I salute you! I used the link on Yelp and the menu price is severely outdated. Noticed that the had prices erased on the board instead as well. I order the 2 hot dog special, Chicago Style of course. The guy behind the counter was pleasant to deal with. As I waited the dining area was medium sized with a bull mural on the wall. The flavor was on point, but the bun was chewy. The tomatoes were diced which is a nice touch because it allows you to get some with every bite. No poppyseed bun or celery salt. The dog was good, not great. The fries were very good. I would good back to try the burger. I received my food, it looked great.
