"Real Chicago-style deep dish pizza in the Triangle!!!" Anyone who's spent any time in Chicago at all raves about the deep dish ("stuffed") pizza there. Yet for some completely unfathomable reason, it's nigh impossible to find that anywhere outside the city, aside from a few spots in the Bay Area, New York, DC, etc. I think it's a mafia conspiracy- they much knock out any restaurants that try to export it. I can't imagine any other reason why it's not everywhere- it's SOOOO good! There used to be an "Uno's" with it in Brier Creek, but it's gone, and there's no other Uno's in the entire state. My 11-year-old daughter wanted this for her birthday party after a recent Chicago vacation (where she exclaimed "I could live on this!"), but shipping it from Chicago on dry ice was going to be almost $100 (and frozen). But thanks to Yelpers (yay to Ron W!), we heard about Rosati's Pizza in Morrisville. This is the real thing- it's a chain from the Chicago area that, for again some unfathomable reason (yet wonderful for us), decided they'd open their only east-coast-state restaurant in Morrisville, NC (?). It's in a nondescript little stripmall off Davis Dr. Service- fantastic! I phoned in a takeout order, and they applied a coupon that I didn't have nor know existed (very kind). It was for a pickup at 5:15pm. I showed up early, and they finished the pizzas at exactly 5:14pm. Price- good! We paid $32 for two medium pizzas. This is A LOT of food- see below. Atmosphere- fine for takeout. Not bad for eat-in: see picture. Taste- this is the kicker. GREAT! I loved it- it really was the real deal! For Chicago pizza virgins, this means (from bottom up): a thin crust that's flat in the center but rises at the edge of the pan probably about an inch, a layer of cheese and toppings mixed together (probably with a VERY thin second layer of crust in there somewhere) rising a good literally 1cM from the thin crust on the bottom, and then topped with chunky tomato sauce. It's not for the faint of heart- indeed, hearts probably HATE it (~60g of fat per slice!), but man, taste buds will be in heaven! Honestly, I think I like this a little better than Giordano's in Chicago- Rosati's is just a bit less greasy-tasting and more like good cheese. To get an idea of how much to order, few people will eat more than 2 slices of a medium pizza. Many people will be "stuffed" with 1. So, it's really a good deal in price. Who knew 60 grams of fat could taste so good?! Phil G, Tripp W and I were marveling at the delicious deep-dish pizza that was dropped in front of us on the table. Gooey mozzarella cheese, chunky tomato, spicy sausage, tasty bacon and pepperoni all wrapped in a golden crust! We recounted Mohamed N's recent Rosati's review and the caloric content of each slice but what the hell, who wants to live forever! I dug into my first slice and my taste buds got hit with an explosion of tomato and cheesy goodness, uhmmm. And as good as the insides were, the crisp, buttery crust was even better! The perfect base for all that meat and cheese... The large pie was enough for maybe 3 to 4 people and we had a side of buffalo wings to get the calorie party started! Service was timely and they kept our glasses filled so we could wash down all that pizza. Inside Rosati's, the place is small so you might be better off with takeout. We've been twice now. First time we got the double crust pizza. Excellent crust. Well cooked and crisp. However one of the ingredients was pepperoncini peppers. They were tasty and had a good kick but whole. Would have been better if sliced. The second time we had the Chicago deep dish. Again excellent crust. I thought the sauce was a little sweet. Maybe I need the pepperoncinis? Both times the service was abysmal. If we didn't live 15 minutes away, I would get the pizza to go - but who wants cold pizza the first time around? read more

Really good pizza. The sauce was a little sweet which I was not used to or ready for but for being Chicago style (lots of crust and cheese) this pizza was surprisingly not overly greasy or heavy. For $28, was a total disappointment! Save your time & $, order the frozen Italian beef pack from Portillo's online. Comes with enough for 8 huge Italian beef sandwiches, with all the fixins! Comes with sweet & hot peppers, 8 breads, 2 packs of beef and 2 packs of frozen gravy. MUCH better than Rosati's...not even close!! Like $75 or $80, including shipping. Lesson learned! I ordered a chicago-style pizza from here because I was really hungry for a deep dish pizza and very few places in the area make deep dish pizzas. Unfortunately rosati's seems to think that sugar belongs on a pizza, it's a common mistake that pizza places in North Carolina make. I guess they think that because people are so addicted to sweet tea, that they will be similarly addicted to sweet pizza. Unfortunately this isn't the case, and sugar does not belong on a pizza! Otherwise the pizza was pretty good, the crust was crispy on the bottom and tender inside. I ended up scraping the sauce off the pizza, which seems to be where they were hiding all the sugar, and it wasn't half bad. But I really wish that I could find a place that makes a true authentic chicago-style pizza, sans sugar! read more

Stopped by after checking out the reviews. Small and intimate pizza place. Good menu selection and I like that you can select your crust type. Bread basket was brought out quickly and ordered drinks. No ice inside drinks which was a first, asked for ice and was given 2 ice cups. One of our place setting was dirty along with the napkin. The food itself was great. We were happy they created 1/2 supreme and 1/2 pineapple pizza. Family salad came out and pizza followed shortly. The flavors were great. The only bad thing is the A/C was broken which made it stuffy and uncomfortable at one point. There was a portable a/c unit however the room was still stuffy. read more

I ordered a 12" Chicago Pepperoni, 12" thin crust pepperoni & pineapple, and a 12" sausage classic. The chicago was perfect and it was the first one to go! The thin crust pizzas were so good and I loved the toppings under the cheese. The brown crusted cheese really made a difference. The customer service was good; they could have been a bit more attentive seen how we were basically the only ones there (5:30 pm). I definitely cannot wait to return and get the Chicago pizza!!! read more

My boyfriend wanted to try deep dish pizza last night, and we ended up finding Rosati's. Little spot located within a shopping plaza, somewhat intimate vibes. It was a quiet Friday evening in the restaurant, probably due to all the Coronavirus talk going around. But the staff was taking all precautions. Everything was constantly and immediately cleaned once customers left their table after their meal. I think I even saw one waitress offer hand sanitizer to a table when they were done with their meal, which I found to be thoughtful. As for the pizza, I will say I'm not a particular deep dish pizza fan, never have been. But this pizza was delightful! We got the signature Veggie pizza, 16 inch, and I was full after one slice! They were also able to take off mushrooms on half of the pizza, as my boyfriend isn't a fan of those. Overall, pleasant experience. read more

Everything was done with love and you can tell. The sauce was wrapped in foil so the tops don't pop off. The wings were cooked perfect and sauced great. The pizza had foil on top so the cheese did t stick to the lid. We got a Chicago deep dish 12 inch. This was a lot of food. I had 2 slices and it stuffed me (and I'm a big eater). The crust was crispy and cooked through (very hard for pizza that deep). Cheese premium and cheesy. Nice toppings and covered with a nice chunky tomato sauce, just like a proper Chicago deep dish pizza. Absolute best Deep dish I've had since going to Chicago 6 years ago. Went out for Italian food tonight and picked this spot. It's close to Moms house and very convenient. We ordered two Eggplant Parmigiana dinners. One for me and one for Sara and Mom to share. I also ordered a side salad with Balsamic dressing. The salad was good and the dressing was also very good. Then came the main meal. When the server sat the plate down on the table I started wondering what the heck was this? Here was a bowl full of pasta covered in sauce and two small strips of Eggplant under some melted mozzarella cheese. Well after I stoped laughing, I called our server over and explained what and how Eggplant Parmigiana was suppose to be served. She went back and told the cooks and in a few minuets she came out with 4 large pieces of cooked Eggplant on a plate. The restaurant gets an "A" for effort but a "D" overall. Being Italian and having great Eggplant dishes in my history this place need to take it off their menus and stick to salads and pizza. Not a good plan y'all! read more

A Friday ago, my boyfriend and I had serious cravings for some authentic, Chicago-style pizza. I blame Ron W. for his tempting photo of the meat-filled pizza -- it made us slobber with envious hunger and drool. After seeing that trophy of a pizza, I know I HAD to get one with all the meats (I'm a fattie at heart). I made an online order for my beloved BF to pick-up after work. However, I found that the menu online is extremely different from the "online ordering" menu. For instance, "Rosati's Monster" is called "The Works". It also says you can only choose thin crust or double dough -- yet I was able to order it Chicago Style. There's an "Instructions" section where you designate how you want it cut, so I made sure to put "pie cut" -- just in case! Also, contrary to other reviewers' claims, I saw no "status" bar on the site after I ordered the pizza. I had no idea the pizza was done until my boyfriend called me after he picked it up. Strange. The pizza's cardboard box could BARELY withstand the heavy load of meats and veggies on our dream pizza, buckling under my hands. The box was almost impossible to open with my eager, overly anxious hands -- the box is held shut with two box inserts looping from the sides into the bottom that you have to pull out. Me, as a ravenous Neanderthal of a woman, feverishly yanked on the top of the box repetitively until my more clear-headed boyfriend assisted in retrieving the pizza. We hungrily snatched up a couple slices -- each slice collapsing under the weight of the huge portions of sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ground beef with mushrooms, onion, green peppers, black olives and green olives. Imagine a thick slice of dough smothered with cheese, these toppings, and topped with a sea of red sauce -- ohhhh, you would die happy too. I dub this pizza "heart-attack pizza" because I could feel the oily meats pulsing through my body -- totally destroying my healthy "diet". I could feel the pounds packing on with each consecutive slice -- I'm pretty sure I put on 2lbs total (we ate more later -- finishing the last 2 slices the next day). We have no shame! We had contemplated ordering a 16", but we were SO happy that we ordered the 14" instead. They really don't lie when they say it feeds 3-4 people. After 3 HUMONGO slices, both my boyfriend and I were reeling on the ground, clasping our stomachs in pain -- food babies are sometimes awful to carry. The store is staffed with high-schoolers -- so it might explain the recent, poor service reviews. read more

Yeah!! Rosati's delivers to me!! We'd been here before when hubby had a hankering for Chicago deep dish pizza. I like the fact it has so many other items to choose from. Tonight we had a 14" deep-dish pizza with tomatoes, sausage, green peppers and mushrooms. It was heavy with toppings and necessitated a fork and knife but that's to be expected with deep dish. It was yummy! I ordered Angel Hair Pomodoro which was saucy and garlicky but in a yummy way I enjoy (I love garlic). The "bread" that came with it was odd in that it was deep fried and not very good in general. The meatballs were nice but would have been better in the sauce of the pasta. I am from Chicago. We used to eat Rosatis all of the time. When we first moved here in 2014, we tried the MONSTER pizza and it didn't seem as good as back home Fast forward to yesterday, 9/9/16 . I am from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I was born and raised there lived over half my life there. Im 50! I have not been to this Rosatis but this restaurant is the actual Rosatis chain from Illinois. My go to Roastis when I lived there was in Hanover Park ( AKA Hangover Park woot woot ) I've read most of the reviews I agree and disagree with some without even haven eaten there. I also love Portillo's and other establishments not well known to people who are not from Illinois. I disagree with some negative reviews because you need to know how to order an Italian beef. Do you want it wet, half dipped, dry? Sweet peppers, no peppers, giardiniera? The bread also makes or breaks it as well. I would have to believe, put money on the table. that its the full gluten laden, crusty bread from Chicago! If its not then, yeah that would be a deal breaker for the sandwich. Possibly the earliest reviews were negative because the restaurant was in its growing pains. IDK but I do know all the ingredients are from Chicago and the Italian sausage, it has fennel in it, that to me is what makes Chicago pizza Chicago pizza. (Of course also the dough and gluten laden bread mentioned above) As for pizza..well ... A thin crust Italian sausage, green pepper and onion pizza, all ingredients UNDER the cheese, ask for WELL DONE, (you know browned cheese) cut in squares, is absolutely mouthwatering to me. Rosatis has it and if your a transplant to NC this is the only place to go. If your not from IL go there anyway and dont judge too hard, you just may ( dare I say) not enjoy this particular fare of flavor. Charlotte has Matts Chicago Dog which is great for Chicago Dogs and Pizza Puffs, their Italian beef is pretty good as well, the pizza, nothing like Chicago, pan or thin, IMO they dont get how to make it. After ordering from here a few times I couldn't decide between 4 & 5 stars but decided to go ahead & give them 5 stars since the pros outweigh the cons. This place is a little pricey but I believe the quality of the ingredients justifies the price. The toppings are large & fresh and have a great flavor. They don't skimp on the cheese like some other places do. The chicken tender appetizer always comes super hot & they also have a great flavor to the batter. The portion size is good as well. Delivery has always been on time or early & all the drivers have been very pleasant. There only a few cons but they are either small or the restaurant has made it right. First, the price keeps me from ordering as much as I would like, but like I said they do have high quality ingredients. Secondly, I get expired coupons more than non-expired coupons but I've noticed the coupon codes don't change so they are still valid even if they are expired. Lastly, they forgot to add the side of ranch with my first order. On my second order they made up for it by giving me a lot of extra ranch. I started typing in the special instructions section to please not forget the ranch & how many should be in the order & I've never had a problem since. This used to be a good place for Chicago style pizza. I ordered today and cut my tongue on this. I am also 38 weeks pregnant! This is crazy and I did not expect this from this place. Tried both the thin-crust and deep dish pizza. Both were good but I definitely prefer the deep dish. This is the best deep dish I've had in the area although there isn't a lot of competition. I will go back next time I want deep dish. The service was extremely slow but this may have been due to our group size (18) and it being a busy night.
