Items that stood out as very good was the tofu larb salad (not sure you can order a tofu version of this salad at most places), pad see ewe, and sticky rice with mango. Thai food has always been one of my favorite Asian styles since I first was exposed to it in high school like a naked streaker running across a baseball field during the World Series. So I went with a phone order for the fried calamari due to someone else's review on Yelp. I can't tell if it's premade frozen calamari fried to order or if the squid Os are breaded on site and fried. In my order it was all squid Os and no baby squids or tentacles to be found and the breading is generic with no seasonings in it. I'm talking no taste of anything , salt/pepper/etc. The plum sauce that came with it was sweet and yummy, i want to put red pepper flakes in it to add some spice but sadly none on hand. Rose Apple is a little Thai restaurant tucked away in a food court off Hospitality Lane, next to the Loma Linda dentistry building. 11 of us came here for lunch to celebrate the Lunar New Year. They took care of us reasonably well, even when we ask for separate checks. Lunch specials are about $11 per person, pricy for this neighborhood. We come because of their food. They taste fresh and full of flavor. I order my drunken noodles Thai hot, i.e., as spicy as you can make it, still it is only mild to me so I asked for chili sauce on the side. That said, I do enjoy the flavor of the noodle. Like many Asian restaurants, it is kind of noisy. I am sure our conversations around the table contributed to that too. I asked for medium spice and it was really more mild. The half moon ton was a nice change from the usual but I could barely taste the crab. Overall solid 4 stars. Update: took my leftovers home. I came here with my family and WOW was I impressed. The owners were our hosts and servers. They were extremely cordial and inviting as we sat down. They took our order and our food was brought out in reasonable timing. We had ordered the Tempura vegetables as appetizers which were delicious. We had plates ranging from curries to drunken noodles to fried rice. BUT the star of the show that had made me jealous for not ordering it myself was the orange chicken. Now you might say orange chicken is mundane, but wait you are missing out if you don't try it! First off, the batter was so light and crispy it melted in your mouth. Absolutely no grease was in this batter. The chicken was delicate inside almost tasting like dark meat instead of a white meat. The sauce complimented the fry and I kept "trying" my mother-in-laws orange chicken repeatedly. I happen to be an orange chicken connoisseur and order it in most asian places I go. The orange chicken here is the second or third best I've ever had in my life. I honestly cannot wait to go back and order it just for myself. I noticed one reviewer saying it had no chicken in it which is complete and utter BS as I will honestly tell you that it was solely good enough to go back just for that dish. BUT everything was delicious that we had ordered. The curries were very tasteful and light not heavy as some curries tend to be. I see the potential but I didn't have a good experience with the food. We had the thai iced tea, tofu pad see ew, hawaiian fried rice, hot and sour soup, fried banana and coconut ice cream. Delicious coconut ice cream, 100% recommend. The fried banana were also really good and full of flavor. The hot and sour soup was good, but the fried rice and pad see ew were overcooked and burned. My go to Thai restaurant in the area, their prices are good, their menu has a lunch menu option, and their food is delicious. I got the beef Yum Yum salad this time, but their Pad Thai and noodles are delicious as well. I got the medium spicy which is just right for me but the hot and very hot are going to be pretty spicy. My coworker that loves spicy foods got the very hot and it was almost too much. Tip: you can order a spicy level off the menu, called Nina Spicy , if you need more of a kick. But he warned us that only three people order it so your mileage may vary. A great spot in the inland empire, and the San Bernardino county health inspectors say their kitchen is pretty clean so they like to come here as well. Stopped by here on a whim and I'm glad I did. I love Thai food and this restaurant did not disappoint. There were two very kind waitresses with a full restaurant yet they were easily able to keep up with it all and had extremely great service. They are located in an unassuming area with plenty of parking but walk inside to eat and you know it's real Thai food. They have a nice sitting area outside as well with a cute water fountain. We ordered the Fresh Veggie Spring Rolls which came with some of the best peanut sauce ever, Pad See Ew Noodles with Beef cooked perfectly, the Broccoli Lover in delicious brown sauce, and Mango sticky rice that was made with real love!
