I was shopping on Clement Street late yesterday afternoon and decided to order a few items from Rose Pizzeria to go. I was greeted promptly by the staff and placed my order for the Caesar salad and Beans starter. The Caesar salad was a poor imitation of the one at their Berkeley location. It was light on pecorino, no black pepper, featured what looked like packaged croutons, and the dressing lacked the same zippy spice profile. The Rancho Gordo Big Beans, unfortunately, didn't hit the mark either. You can never go wrong with Rancho Gordo beans, but the other ingredients in the marinade were scant or nonexistent -- a few slices of celery, red onion, a couple of green olives, and some dill fronds thrown in for good measure, but neither mint nor grated bottarga made it into the dish. The beans were creamy in texture but hadn't absorbed the marinade. Overall, the dish tasted like a drained can of white runner beans dressed with Italian dressing. I've been a big fan of Rose Pizzeria's Berkeley location for a couple of years and was excited to try the new SF venue. I hope the dishes improve. read more

My friend and I came here for dinner and shared the rancho gordo beans, burrata salad and anchovies as appetizers; old faithful with extra mushrooms as our pizza and fig and almond pudding as our dessert. The food was excellent and the old faithful was just the perfect pizza for me - crispy thin-crust with lots of meat! Certainly wasn't spicy, nor even a bit spicy which I would have expected since they went out of their way to highlight that. Hints of Parmesan cheese accompianied by a smattering of plain croutons. Fig prosciutto starter was perfect - creamy burrata, sweet ripe figs, salty prosciutto, and the mint was great. The focaccia is served warm and toasted and is also delicious. The flavor combos are all very unique! I like how you can customize the pizzas too and add extra toppings. The online ordering system is very easy to use. The crust was a bit too hard for me and became tough after refrigerating. The white pizza was too salty but I liked the other two a lot Pizzas are on the pricier side overall and one pizza was not cut well. The pickup area was easy to find inside the restaurant. My friends in the city wanted to try out this new pizza spot. This is a nice quiet area. As many places in SF, it is street parking only. We sat outside because we had fur babies with us and there are at least ~4-5 tablets outside. I got to see the inside though, which is quite spacious with lots of seating including booth tables. There are two single bathrooms available that are relatively clean. Service was prompt and they brought out water bowls for our fur babies too. Our server was pleasant and prompt. We started with a delicious burrata and prosciutto! Fresh slices of prosciutto with a twist of sweetness from the figs. Although the burrata was a little more "wet cottage cheese-like" for my liking, I do still recommend this starter. Then, we asked for pizza recommendations and the two most popular we were told were the Old Faithful and She Wolf. Since we got the burrata appetizer, we decided with Pepp & Basil instead to have a variety. I did like the Pepp & Basil and the crust was nice and thin and crunchy but I think the sourness of the tomato sauce was a bit strong and overpowered the rest of the flavors; I was hoping for more herb interplay. My friend got the vegetarian option which looked good and you can have the lemon off to the side if you don't want to much zest. Got to try Rose pizzeria for dinner - disclaimer that we did get takeout, and so the pizza wasn't as fresh as it could've been when we ate it ~15 minutes post pickup. I found the pepperoni pizza to be the most flavorful of the ones we ordered (mushroom, burrata, old faithful, green deluxe). The white sauce/veggie pizzas were lacking in flavor. We used the sauce from the spicy Caesar salad to dip the pizza slices in to give it more flavor. The crust is thicker than I would like. We toasted a few slices which improved the taste a good amount. Definitely good for pizza in the area but would prefer other spots. My bf and I came here for dinner this past Friday at around 6pm. We had to wait a little bit for a table. To kill time, we walked down a couple blocks and then looped around. When we arrived back at the restaurant, we received a text that our table was ready. We sat at the bar/counter table that looked into the kitchen. I liked that there was a lot of cheese, but I wished there were more croutons. The dressing was okay. It didn't have the tanginess that I like in a typical caesar salad. For pizzas, we ordered the Pepp & Basil with added mushrooms and the Corn & Tomato Special. The pizzas were decently sized and definitely more than enough for the two of us. We ended up taking about half of each pizza home as leftovers. I love basil and mushrooms, so the Pepp & Basil was very enjoyable. The Corn & Tomato Special was different and something I've never really had on a pizza before. It was good but not as good as the Pepp & Basil. We ordered a side of their ranch and green sauces. Both were yummy and went well with the pizzas. However, something about the ranch really stood out to me. It was light and different from store-bought ranch. If you like ranch with your pizza, I recommend getting this! Lastly, we got dessert. We were debating between the tiramisu and crumble so we asked the staff member to choose for us. Rose Pizzeria is a relatively new pizza place. I was super excited to try a new place, and it worked out perfectly for a late lunch. I found the Service to be all over the place. Some people were nice and even gracious, while others appear, appeared to not want to be bothered. We decided to order the Caesar salad to share. Your girl loves a good Caesar, but this one was incredibly disappointing. The dressing was incredibly light and tasted like it had been watered down. A really good Caesar salad should be fresh crispy, lettuce, croutons, lots of cheese, and an incredible dressing to pull it all together. There were very few croutons, and just a light amount of cheese on top and that was about it. The dressing tasted like it ran through the salad and kept going. The pizza was good, but not great. Initially, I thought the toppings were fairly generous until I actually started eating the pizza and realized that they were fairly light. We'd order essentially a combo pizza, and a lot of the pepperoni was actually burnt. Not that crispiness that you want on the edges of your pepperoni where it curls up and it's tasty. This was just overdone and not in a good way. We ended up ordering "green sauce " IYKYK It was actually pretty decent. There are other places in the Bay Area that also offer this and everyone seems to have a slightly different iteration. The overall taste of the pizza was again decent, but not phenomenal, which is what I was expecting. I'm a sucker for tiramisu, and the waitress assured us that this was going to be the perfect dessert. Initially, we were told that things are made in the house such as the dressing, the sauce on the pizza, the dough, etc. I found out after we ordered, and the tiramisu was delivered to the table, that the tiramisu is not made in house, and in fact, it's not even made locally. With all the wonderful bakeries in and around the Bay Area, this tiramisu comes from New Jersey. Is that a bad thing? I've been dreaming about coming back to this place since we went. The white sauce pizza with sausage and jalepenos has been top of mind. The spicy Cesar salad was also delicious, and even the pepperoni. The biggest miss (surprisingly) was the burrata pizza. We all had bites here and there but left almost the rest of the pizza there. Just had an amazing dinner here! We ordered the olives and the big salad to start which were both amazing. The salad was great with fresh mint in it and lots of Parmesan. The pizza was stellar! Wow! We had such a great first experience at Rose Pizzeria. We started with the summertime salad and it was so fresh and flavorful. We ordered 3 pizzas to share. I've been to the location in Berkley and was pumped when I saw there was one opened here in SF as well. It does get busy so I recommend a reservation if possible. They have a really good wine selection and the corkage fee is nothing crazy so you have some options. The PIzza itself is really, really good. The crust is perfect for the amount of sauce and cheese. The East Bay Green Sauce is like a green chutney if you've ever had Indian Food but it works so well with the pizza. BUT the absolute star is the Tiramisu. Its the best we've had, and that's including some in Italy itself. Perfect blend of coffee flavor, marscapone, and cocoa, not bitter, a little sweet, gah its so good. This briny, salty mix of house-cured olives was a nice brightener to start off with. Olive lovers will enjoy this! BIG GREEN SALAD - Farm lettuces, shaved asparagus, mint, basil, mustard vinaigrette & shaved pecorino. Totally fresh, fresh greens, lightly dressed and so amazing for a simple green salad. Note: Both the asparagus and pecorino was described as "shaved." Neither was shaved. The asparagus was chopped little bits of perfectly steamed asparagus the pecorino was grated. That said, if presented as described, it would have been another level of yum! OLD FAITHFUL - Fennel pork sausage, goat horn peppers, red onion, mozzarella, pecorino, tomato sauce & Sicilian oregano. First bite into a hot pizza with crisp, crunch of the crust was a good start to the beautiful infusion of fresh tomato sauce, onions, peppers, cheese, luscious pork sausage lent to a Wowee moment! I was HAPPY! No add-ons needed, though did add some chile flakes in my last bite! Honestly it was NOT needed. I usually frequent the Berkeley location, but it's nice to have a location in the city when I'm visiting, I am also happy that they have had the success to open a second location. The pizza is the best I have had in California. The She Wolf (add pepperoni) is my go to, and my guy loves the classic pepperoni with jalapenos. The salads and appetizers change seasonally, but everything we have tried here had been great, I always love the burrata! The new location is bigger and has nice indoor and outdoor seating available. Takeout is available but in-person orders only. No phone line. Online orders to come. First try, the hostess said, there was 50 people waitlist (weeknight) so we left. The next day, I returned solo for a late weekday lunch and there was no wait for an outdoor table. M E N U Limited menu (different than online): Three starters, three salads, six red pizzas, and three white pizzas. Pizzas are thin crust "west coast style"; whole pizza only (no slices). Tonda Romano - thin, crispy Roman-style pizza not available yet. Beer and wine to come. F O O D * Pepp & Basil: Ezzo pepperoni, mozzarella, tomato sauce, pecorino, fresh basil, sicilian oregano (14", 6 slices-$24) It's only week two so there's obvs kinks to work out. The biggest issue was the weak bottom, the undercarriage came out pale and underdeveloped with wet, soggy spots. The exterior crust had chew but was quite bland and it could've benefited from more blistering for texture and flavor. The toppings were tasty...I mean it's hard to go wrong with melty cheese, bright tomato sauce, and ezzo cupped pepperoni with crispy edges. Ezzo's pepperoni adds little bursts of salty, slightly smoky fat with each bite. It's not a greasy salt bomb like massed produced ones. I took it home and warmed it up in a cast iron pan to get some browning on the bottom. It was better but not great. If you like it a little spicy, get the East Bay Green Sauce ($3)...it's fresh and herbaceous with a warming heat. Reminds me of zhug, Yemeni hot sauce. The next day, a senior couple thought it was fast-casual so they ordered, paid, and sat behind me. When their pizza arrived boxed up, they mentioned they were dining in. The female server's tone was curt and she could have at least offered them plates. On a positive note, the young, blonde male server was very friendly, kind, and upbeat. Service may be smoother indoors as outdoor tables had to flag someone down inside to order and/or ask for the bill. After the lunch rush, the pizza took 20 minutes to arrive. No ifs or buts, the pizza here is SUPER good. Rose already had hype before opening the Clement location and somehow it still exceeded expectations for me. The crust is exactly what I want from this style of pizza. Thin, airy, crispy edges, but still enough chew that it feels satisfying and not like a cracker pretending to be dinner. We got the Old Faithful and the Pepp & Basil. The Old Faithful was awesome and tasted really different from a lot of sausage pizzas around the city. Super flavorful fennel sausage, vinegary peppers, red onion, just a really good balance where every bite keeps you interested. The Pepp & Basil was shockingly good. I'm a huge pepperoni pizza person and this is def one of the best pepperoni pizzas I've had in SF. The pepperoni gets those crispy little edges, the basil keeps it fresh, and the whole thing disappears concerningly fast. We also got the spicy Caesar. Slightly overdressed for my personal taste but still delicious. You can tell the dressing is homemade and not some sad Sysco Caesar situation. Was excited to try this spot given all the hype. The basil pepperoni pizza was the highlight - great sauce, perfectly soft dough, and cooked thoroughly despite some reviews suggesting otherwise. Highly recommend pairing it with their housemade ranch! The miso Caesar salad was fine, but not something I'd order again. If you do, ask for light dressing. How I hadn't heard about this place baffles me. Literally just stumbled upon it only to be transported to Italy???? No reservation and we were sat quickly considering we were there as soon as they opened. The decor was giving Italian diner in an artistic way. We also enjoyed the Spicy Caesar salad heavily dressed with a bold heat; I will ask for dressing on the side next time. We got the Old Faithful and it was good but not stellar. The crust was slightly burned (I don't like mine with a charcoal flavor) and it wasn't very spicy despite being labeled as such. I felt like it needed an additional sprinkle of chili flakes or chili oil. We also got the spicy ceasar salad and it was just okay, also not spicy enough to be labeled as such and the flavor just didn't pack a punch. I'd go back to try another pizza, but spots like Tony's and Norcina have better pies. read more

Ordered 4 pizzas to go on a Saturday night. The restaurant itself was packed at 5:30pm. The line was out the door. I believe this is the second location? First one opened in Berkeley if I'm not mistaken. The dough itself was pretty solid. Usually I eat everything except for the crust because it can get too filling. But I thought the crust was actually edible. This place has very unique and distinct pizzas. We ordered five pizzas for take-out: The Cheese, Margherita, Green Deluxe, Louie-Louie, and The Beach Club. They all were very good. Each has its own distinct flavor, which makes sense because they are different; however some restaurants use the same "base" and then just put on different toppings, and the flavor profile generally remains the same. Not here, expect totally unique flavor profiles. The combined toppings went well with each other. The Green Deluxe (broccoli rabe, mozzarella, confit garlic, cream and lemon) was especially tasty, and the Margherita had a great deal of basil flavor. The crust was great - firm and crisp on the outside and chewy inside. The pizza is cut into 6 generous slices. I'd like to return to try some of the other ones. This is a casual restaurant with indoor and sidewalk seating. At this time, to get pizza to go, you place your order at the register and wait about 15 minutes. Came at 7pm, prime dinner hour, on a Friday and all tables were taken (as to be expected). Looking at their online reservation system, they're booked out for the week for indoor dining so we ordered takeout. FYI there's no online ordering system (yet) and no phone orders, so you'll have to line up and order for takeout in person. There was no line for takeout so we quickly ordered only to find out that there would be a ~45 minute wait. I asked if they do half and half pizzas (two flavors on one pizza) and they said not yet but they'll most likely roll it out in the future since they just opened. So what do we do when we're torn between two flavors? Order both! Louie-Louie - a white sauce pizza, so cheesy and the sausage was sooo good! My favorite of the two because I love cheesy savory things. Old Faithful - I mistakenly thought this was going to be a classic combo pizza but I had clearly misread the description! I wasn't mad at it though because the goat horn peppers were the best part! Sweet and spicy, it packed some good heat! I'm typically not a fan of sweetness in my savory food, but this was worth trying. You can't review pizza without mentioning the most important part - the crust! I enjoy a thin, NY style crust so their west coast style pizzas (thin and airy) were up my alley. Don't you hate that feeling when you lift a pizza slice and the tip is just soggy with the toppings about to slide off? Well, there was NONE of that here. The strong, yet thin undercarriage was exactly what I looked for in a crust. You lift up the pizza slice and everything holds up. NO SOGGYBOTTOMS! I saw a lot of the indoor diners order the caesar and it looked so good, I'll have to try next time along with their other more classic pizza flavors! I wish I looked over the menu more thoroughly because had I known a green sauce existed I would've ordered it in a heartbeat. Phenomenal pizza, simple and well executed. Bright delicious tomato sauce, GOOD quality cheese (doesn't get all rubbery), and great crust. Undercarriage is thinner but still provides great texture and mouthfeel. Crust is bubbly and charred, also chewy inside. Sausage is great, not too salty. Overall just a great pizza. Staff was really friendly and upbeat too. Cute decorations as well. read more

Delicious pizza, although not my favourite in the city, it's absolutely fantastic for SF and hits the spot if you're looking for this style. I've been curious about the Rose Pizzeria Spicy Caesar salad ever since I became aware of their original Berkeley location, but as a San Francisco resident, hadn't gotten around to trying it. Naturally, I was thrilled to see their Inner Richmond location, but was then dismayed to see very mixed Yelp reviews. But I am so glad I stuck to my guns, because let me tell you: it IS worth the hype. I'd go so far as to call it the best vegetarian Caesar I've had (though that distinction may not mean much since I haven't had a non-vegetarian Caesar in over fifteen years). The heaping serving was generous but I still found the bottom of the bowl too quickly given the addicting combo of Pecorino and Miso. My only note is that calling this "spicy" is very misleading. I know there are many different levels of spice tolerance out there, but this dressing would make black pepper seem spicy. I'd encourage them to make the dish live up to the name. Aside from that moderate disappointment, I loved the meal unconditionally. We ate at the beginning of the dinner rush so it may get crazier later on, but service was quick and the atmosphere was vibrant without getting too loud for conversation. My dining partners' pizza also looked lovely, but even if you're a salad nerd like myself, consider Rose a destination meal. It is a delight that would convince even the staunchest carnivores that a few greens are valuable. Just double down on the Calabrian chili, please and thank you. read more

I placed a takeout order in the store and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I waited inside for about 25 minutes because it was cold outside. Since they were seating customers, they asked me to wait outside and said they would let me know when my order was ready, which was completely understandable. After waiting for 55 minutes, I finally went back inside to ask about my order. They told me it had been ready the whole time. By the time I received it, the food was cold. The biggest issue is that if you're asked to wait outside, someone needs to let you know when your order is ready. Otherwise, customers are left standing outside with no idea what's going on. The staff clearly needs better training and communication. read more

Excited to see a new pizza spot on Clement. The inside if beautiful with a good view of the kitchen. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We tried their take on Hawaiian pizza and really enjoyed it. The crust was thin and crisp, and the red sauce was nice. It was a well balanced pizza and a great share for two people. Their ranch wasn't my favorite, I prefer herb and garlic forward ranch. There's is more thick and creamy. Can't wait to come back and try more pizzas. read more
