The reservations go out pretty fast so I do recommend planning ahead and making a reservation before you go. My party and I showed up at 7:45 and there was a table open so we were seated instantly. The food came out pretty quickly and we were done eating in about 45 min, and as we were still finishing up our conversation the waiter was almost aggressively cleaning off our table, making us feel rushed to leave even though we were well within our reservation time. The interior of the restaurant is super clean and cute. I would not recommend ordering these pizzas to go, the magic in the texture of their thin crust is only there when the pizza is right out of the oven. Spicy Caesar - $14 Rating: (10/10) I really enjoyed the salad! The dressing was not too overwhelming, the lettuce was super crisp and fresh. The fact that the size of the salad was large enough for 3, maybe 4 people for the price is great! Margherita - $21 Rating: (9/10) Nothing can really go wrong with a classic margherita pizza. I'm usually not a thin crust fan due to the lack of texture, but I think this pizzeria has one of the best thin crust pizzas I've had in the city! Rose Pizzeria is a relatively new pizza place. I was super excited to try a new place, and it worked out perfectly for a late lunch. I found the Service to be all over the place. Some people were nice and even gracious, while others appear, appeared to not want to be bothered. We decided to order the Caesar salad to share. Your girl loves a good Caesar, but this one was incredibly disappointing. The dressing was incredibly light and tasted like it had been watered down. A really good Caesar salad should be fresh crispy, lettuce, croutons, lots of cheese, and an incredible dressing to pull it all together. There were very few croutons, and just a light amount of cheese on top and that was about it. The dressing tasted like it ran through the salad and kept going. The pizza was good, but not great. Initially, I thought the toppings were fairly generous until I actually started eating the pizza and realized that they were fairly light. We'd order essentially a combo pizza, and a lot of the pepperoni was actually burnt. Not that crispiness that you want on the edges of your pepperoni where it curls up and it's tasty. This was just overdone and not in a good way. We ended up ordering "green sauce " IYKYK It was actually pretty decent. There are other places in the Bay Area that also offer this and everyone seems to have a slightly different iteration. The overall taste of the pizza was again decent, but not phenomenal, which is what I was expecting. I'm a sucker for tiramisu, and the waitress assured us that this was going to be the perfect dessert. Initially, we were told that things are made in the house such as the dressing, the sauce on the pizza, the dough, etc. I found out after we ordered, and the tiramisu was delivered to the table, that the tiramisu is not made in house, and in fact, it's not even made locally. With all the wonderful bakeries in and around the Bay Area, this tiramisu comes from New Jersey. Is that a bad thing? Just had an amazing dinner here! We ordered the olives and the big salad to start which were both amazing. The salad was great with fresh mint in it and lots of Parmesan. The pizza was stellar! The Old Faithful was my favorite because the fennel sausage and spice from the peppers was perfect. The champion was also great for a veggie option, would order this same combo again for sure. How I hadn't heard about this place baffles me. Literally just stumbled upon it only to be transported to Italy???? No reservation and we were sat quickly considering we were there as soon as they opened. The decor was giving Italian diner in an artistic way. Wow! We had such a great first experience at Rose Pizzeria. We started with the summertime salad and it was so fresh and flavorful. We ordered 3 pizzas to share. The corn and tomato special was our favorite followed by the Louie Louie and then the Pep & Basil. The crust on the pizza is cooked to perfection! Have been wanting to try this spot for a while and finally secured a reservation. It is very casual inside, but service was good. Sadly I do think there is better pizza in SF. We got the Old Faithful and it was good but not stellar. The crust was slightly burned (I don't like mine with a charcoal flavor) and it wasn't very spicy despite being labeled as such. I felt like it needed an additional sprinkle of chili flakes or chili oil. We also got the spicy ceasar salad and it was just okay, also not spicy enough to be labeled as such and the flavor just didn't pack a punch. I've been to the location in Berkley and was pumped when I saw there was one opened here in SF as well. It does get busy so I recommend a reservation if possible. They have a really good wine selection and the corkage fee is nothing crazy so you have some options. The PIzza itself is really, really good. The crust is perfect for the amount of sauce and cheese. The East Bay Green Sauce is like a green chutney if you've ever had Indian Food but it works so well with the pizza. BUT the absolute star is the Tiramisu. Takeout is available but in-person orders only. No phone line. Online orders to come. First try, the hostess said, there was 50 people waitlist (weeknight) so we left. The next day, I returned solo for a late weekday lunch and there was no wait for an outdoor table. M E N U Limited menu (different than online): Three starters, three salads, six red pizzas, and three white pizzas. Pizzas are thin crust "west coast style"; whole pizza only (no slices). Tonda Romano - thin, crispy Roman-style pizza not available yet. Beer and wine to come. No ifs or buts, the pizza here is SUPER good. Rose already had hype before opening the Clement location and somehow it still exceeded expectations for me. The crust is exactly what I want from this style of pizza. Thin, airy, crispy edges, but still enough chew that it feels satisfying and not like a cracker pretending to be dinner. We got the Old Faithful and the Pepp & Basil. The Old Faithful was awesome and tasted really different from a lot of sausage pizzas around the city. Super flavorful fennel sausage, vinegary peppers, red onion, just a really good balance where every bite keeps you interested. The Pepp & Basil was shockingly good. I'm a huge pepperoni pizza person and this is def one of the best pepperoni pizzas I've had in SF. Came at 7pm, prime dinner hour, on a Friday and all tables were taken (as to be expected). Looking at their online reservation system, they're booked out for the week for indoor dining so we ordered takeout. FYI there's no online ordering system (yet) and no phone orders, so you'll have to line up and order for takeout in person. I asked if they do half and half pizzas (two flavors on one pizza) and they said not yet but they'll most likely roll it out in the future since they just opened. So what do we do when we're torn between two flavors? Order both! Louie-Louie - a white sauce pizza, so cheesy and the sausage was sooo good! My favorite of the two because I love cheesy savory things. Old Faithful - I mistakenly thought this was going to be a classic combo pizza but I had clearly misread the description! I wasn't mad at it though because the goat horn peppers were the best part! Sweet and spicy, it packed some good heat! Came here on a fluke really and the universe. If there was parking , then we will stay. Annnnnd we stayed. Came here on a Sunday around 3pm and it was already busy. There was indoor dining and a couple tables outside. Review based on take out. We ordered pepp and basil, she wolf, champion, and Louie Louie. Each pizza was so good we couldn't decide how to rank them but it was unanimous that there wasn't a pizza we didn't like. They definitely did not skimp on the amount of mushrooms on the champion. I'm usually a white or bbq sauce girly for pizza but the red sauce on the pepp and basil and she wolf was SO GOOD. Do not sleep on the green sauce. It went great with all the pizza. Pretty frickin good. Ordered to go. Received the text an hour later my order was ready. The pepperoni & basil pizza was delicious. Pepperoni was crispy & not too greasy. Wish the crust was crunchier, but it might have been if I was dining in. The green salad was pretty small but so good. Dressing was flavorful & light. I've been excited to try this place because I've seen it being built from the ground up. There were 6 of us in our group and the wait was an hour and a half with only seating outside because we didn't have a reservation. Not gonna lie, the host was pretty grumpy. I understand it is a busy establishment and maybe she was just having a bad day, but for a FOH it just didn't feel welcoming. We were also being very polite and she rolled her eyes when we said we didn't have a reservation. Edit: Just reading the rest of the reviews and it's crazy that everyone is having a bad experience with the service. The food didn't take too long after ordering. Me and my girlfriend ordered the pepp and basil. I give it a 7.5 without the ranch and an 8 with the ranch. The crust tasted a bit burnt and it just tasted salty. It was good but there wasn't anything special about it (sorry). I'm glad we tried it, and I recommend for everyone else to try it as well! People! Rose Pizzeria is a 10 out of 10!!! To me it was a perfect pie, super thin crust that held its shape. No flippy floppy, hang down slice! I had the broccoli rabe with roasted garlic, the gigantic beans, and the ceasar salad. The beans and the salad I piled onto my slice and proceeded to have a dining delight! Wildly mediocre. Maybe it's the hype people created, the difficulties getting a reservation, or some combo, this place isn't anywhere close to being "One of the best pizzerias in the US", according Eater mag SF. Had the Pep & Basil and the Tomato & Corn (pictured) pizzas. Both were just ok lacking an abundance of flavor, but I was most disappointed by the dough -- just meh. Very good pizza with sterile hospitality & service. We did take out, which you have to go in person because they don't have a phone or online ordering when we went. The hostess/server who took our order did suggest a couple of their most popular pizzas after I asked her. But she was otherwise disinterested in serving people and had no interest to be remotely pleasant nor even pretended to seem like she wanted to be there. We ordered the Pepp & Basil, a classic pepperoni pizza with basil leaves. All pizzas are thin crusted with not a ton of toppings which is what we like but just letting you know in case you like heaps of toppings. We also had the Champion pizza which had mushrooms & leeks and we added the fennel sausage. Both pizzas were good. We liked the Champion with the added sausage better. They made the pizzas pretty quickly, in about 15-20 minutes but if you are waiting for your order and you are standing outside, just know you have to go inside to flag down someone at the cashier to ask if your order is ready because nobody will come out to let you know or call out your name. Good thing we checked because they told us 25-30 minutes and we didn't want our good to be cold. Prices are reasonable and the size of the pizzas were decent. read more

I was really excited when I heard that Rose Pizzeria was coming to SF. I live two blocks away and for months I would look in the windows, anticipating the start of construction. There was no sign saying when it would open once they appeared to be almost done setting up, so I was a bit shocked when I had to find out from an article online. Even though the spot hadn't officially opened yet, dinner reservations were filled up for weeks. A month after they opened, my boyfriend and I attempted a "walk-in" on a Monday at 5:30, and they said the wait would be 3 hours. We went to Pasta Supply instead, a spot where service is insanely efficient (walk in only, always busy, yet I never have to wait long, if at all) and would be a great model for a place like Rose to emulate. After a month and a half, I was finely able to make a reservation that worked with my schedule. My boyfriend and I came early for the reservation and already knew what we were going to order. It took awhile for someone to come check in with us, but once we placed our order, the food came out pretty fast. We ordered the margarita, pizza and the mushroom pizza. I was definitely disappointed with the Margherita pizza and would not order it again. It just tasted like a basic cheese pizza that I could get at any pizza joint. I always order a Margherita when I go to a fancy pizza place for the first time, because I feel like it's a good baseline. It's such a simple pizza and if a place can't perfect that, it doesn't bode well for their other pizzas. I will try the burrata pizza next time, because it definitely looked better. The mushroom pizza was also just fine. I don't have much to say about it, it was kind of forgettable. The crust on the outer edge of both pizzas was really tough to bite through and wasn't particularly tasty enough to be worth the effort. I wasn't expecting the pizzas to be so big and filling. You really get a lot for your money - we had leftovers for days. I think my excitement may have colored my experience, so please take that into consideration. The fact that you really can't just go on a whim impacts my experience greatly. I was hoping it would still be more accessible. If the pizza was bonkers good and out of this world, I would gladly accept the limitations. Because the pizza was just "fine," I certainly don't find it worth the wait (walk-in or reservation). I am definitely going to try it again soon though. I really want to try the tiramisu and have hope that this was related more to a failure in my ordering. read more
