I've lived in the Boston area my whole life (I'm 47), I absolutely love fried seafood, and I've tried whole belly clams all over the state. I've never had any better than Rosewoods. I'll usually bring one of my kids here and we'll share the fisherman's platter/seafood plate, whatever it's called. It's absolutely huge, even my teenage son and I don't finish the whole thing, so don't order that plate/platter thing by yourself unless you're a total glutton or you like leftover fried seafood. This place is an ice cream stand that happens to sell fantastic seafood, so it might not be the kind of place you bring a date to. Oh, and it's probably closed for the winter as I write this. UPDATE OF REVIEW: Food quality changes year to year, depending upon who's cooking. Last year's food was not too good - greasy fries that were unappealing and bland burgers. I'm not even going to bother going back this year. Too bad because 2 years ago I had a great experience there, as noted below. My mother and I found this place over the summer. It's cute inside - reminds me of a place from the past in a good way. First, let me tell you that the ice cream is to die for, especially the fudge brownie nut flavor! The portions are also quite generous. Two people can easily share a small and still go away satisfied. My mother kept bringing me back during her entire visit up north. We also enjoyed the food on the menu - the burgers and the blts. Oh, and for a while there, they even offered this wonderful bottled soda that was orange cream! Don't know if they ever got it back in but it was great. I'll definitely return here and bring friends for great ice cream, good food and nostalgia. read more

I saw all the 5 star reviews and felt the need to throw in my own 2 cents. I know I'm probably going to get kicked out of Bellingham for saying that I don't worship the Rosewood Restaurant, but the good people of Yelp deserve an honest review. I must have selective vision, because I didn't see any seafood on the menu (and it is a seafood restaurant) that I would describe as "cheap". The portions are pretty pitiful, and they feel the need to fry their food in what I must assume is old grease because it all has a very strange aftertaste. The health department may want to check this place out because I didn't see anyone wearing gloves and we all definitely got the runs after eating here. (Well, after getting take-out since you can't actually eat there unless you get lucky and there's an open wobbly table inside or picnic table outside.) I was intrigued by the ice cream selection, but after experiencing the seafood (and what it does to you) I'm glad I didn't chance it. read more

Moved right down the street,and was psyched we were so close to an ice cream place! I got black raspberry and butter crunch to go, and ended up throwing the whole thing away when I got home. It had that slimmey coating at the top from freezer burn. GROSS. read more

Maybe a one-sided interview but here we go... We have never actually eaten at the restaurant but we get the Ice Cream here ALL the time and it is DELICOUS! Pull up and pick from the usual flavors and then some, and take a seat over in the mosquito-free park. Wonderful for a few people or all the kids or to go pick up some dessert for the whole family! Great for afternoon endeavors or late on sunday night around 8ish. Definitely a family favorite and one of the 2 preferred ice cream servers in the area! For being a person from town for over 50 years been there in the past. Gave it another chance and I can tell you if you want a really good ice cream Sunday find another location. Over $6 bucks you get one scoop few nuts some whip cream and more caramel then ice cream. A Sunday is supposed to be enjoyable. Good luck never go back. read more

We were visiting a dear friend of ours in Millis,MA as we are from down south! My hubby and I both went to school on Boston and thought we knew where to get amazing lobster rolls. We decided to come to Rosewood tonight around 8:00 pm (they closed at 8:30 pm) and decided to order three Warm Lobster rolls with butter! Just wow! We need these more often. The dining area was empty we sat down and waited about ten minutes for our order. They're priced at $17 each and we each got a side of warm butter. So much meat and claw meat we were really in for a treat! One of us ordered the onion rings they are large enough to share with 3-4 people as an appetizer. The staff was so nice and they take all major credit cards! We saved room for dessert as we saw a long line outside waiting for ice cream. Their single scoops are enormous it looked like three scoops and she said that was their Single Scoop serve, I'll take it. I tasted the Pumpkin ice cream and it's good! Ended up with their number 1 flavor the Chocolate Peanut Butter cookie dough! It's good there's PB swirls, chunks of cookie dough and also rich chocolate ice cream. The other two on my group ordered the vanilla and chocolate self serve ice cream with sprinkles, warning the size small is also very large! Wish I could get this meal more often it was satisfying and the place really does deliver good quality! I'll be back next time in the area :) read more

We had a super yummy summer dinner here recently. Giant lobster rolls, grilled cheese, fries and ice cream for kids/all. The ice cream (from bliss dairy in Attleboro) wasn't flavorful but my husband loved the soft serve. I'll go with that next time. Also, loved the gated outdoor seating option. read more

When I want good seafood close to home We shoot over to the Rosewood. Driving by from the outside you might think this place is just a take out Ice Cream joint. But it's much more the fried seafood has been solid everytime we go. This time my wife had the fried shrimp plate which has plenty to share. The shrimp, fries and onion rings were fried perfectly. I had the lobster roll with mayo. It was good, not heaping with lobster but not great it seemed to be short on flavor. Just something was missing and I cant put my finger on it. The roll was grilled which I think is a must for a lobster roll. Next time I'l go for the fried plate of something. read more

Great little super casual spot. I felt like I was down the cape. I had the buttered lobster roll and I loved it. For the price, ($20), I wish it came with something else besides chips. But market price is what it is. And if you eat with someone who had a meal that came with onion rings and fries, there will be enough for you to share because it comes with mounds of that. Rosewood Restaurant is just down the street from my husband's childhood home and has been one of their family favorites for years. They have great New England summer fare - fried seafood, lobster rolls, burgers - and some pretty good ice cream as well. We highly recommend their Peanut Butter Cup and Salted Caramel with Chocolate Covered Pretzels. read more

This place definitely has some of the best fried seafood in town! Its a nice ice cream stop on a nice summer night as well. My wife and I grab some eats here pretty frequently, the staff is always friendly and prompt with the orders. I enjoy their clams and scallops. The only downfall is when they're closed in the winter and im craving their delicious scallops and clams. In the summer though it's fantastic! They're a little pricey, but well worth it because the portions are plentiful. I'm very fortunate to live close to this home town spot! Would definitely recommend giving Rosewood a try. Been coming here since I was a kid! It was the only place around that had great seafood that reminds you of the good ol' Cape! It's exactly like a seafood shack you would find in Cape Cod, but it's in the small town of Bellingham, Mass. Since it's the only place around like that, it's a good thing the food is fantastic! The fried shrimp and lobster roll are excellent, and there is always a large selection of ice cream and frozen yogurt. Although it is a seasonal place, there are always plenty of people there when it is open. It is a great place for little kids, families, and adults that just want some good food. read more

Went in to rosewood with 5 people and spent $55 on 2 "plates" of clams, which were technically all fries & onion rings and 10 pieces of clams. The place was extreme chaos & under no supervision, just a bunch of kids taking orders. The cooks weren't wearing any gloves & I even saw one guy take a French fry off of the counter and eat it. Awesome. Fast forward to the end where it was just before 9pm, mind you there are still at least 15 people sitting down inside eating. I ask the girl behind the counter if we could order some soft serve cones "to go"....to which she replies: "oh, I'm sorry. I just shut the machine down". Glad to know they are so well-off at rosewoods that they don't sell ice cream a second beyond 9pm. Not to mention, this was in early march, they had JUST re-opened their doors after being closed all winter! Here's a tip: maybe you should be closed year-round since you dont need the business that badly. Dying for some good 'ol New England Fish and Chips but the hour+ commute to the Cape just isn't in the cards. Then take a spin on down to The Rosewood. Were you can find all the fun of being shore side minus the Bourne Bridge traffic jams. This is a great place for seafood, most of the dishes are of the gold crispy fried nature but they do have a large selection of burgers and sandwiches, if you're not feeling bashful give the foot long chili dog a whirl, you wont be sorry. If you've already had meal for the day try topping the night off with one of their scrumptious ice creams. Many flavors ranging from including Kahlua to Mint Chocolate Chip. My favorite being the peanut butter cup, of course in a cup. The Rosewood also has a large outdoor seating area, though you would never know by size of the lines waiting for frozen treats. All this along with a very courteous waitstaff, make this a great summer hang out after a little league victory or if you're looking night time indulgent after a hot day at the beach. read more

Stopped here because we heard they have lobster rolls here in town. My wife got the regular cold lobster roll -- it tasted okay but was on the small side so not a great value. I got the warm lobster roll and was disappointed. It was just lukewarm lobster on a small roll with melted butter on the side for $20. Nothing to write home about. This little shack is the best place ever. I used to come here with my grandmother all the time. She would buy me an icecream and herself something and then we would sit outside in the fenced in area and eat our treats! I used to love the marry-go-round. My grandmother swore by it and so do i now. Packed in the summer but i sware by its incredible icecream. Every summer whenever i get icecream i beg my parents to come here. It may have some traffic in tge way tgere, it might be really busy, and not much space to park: but it is the place to go to get icecream! Other food on the menu is good also like onion rings or hot dogs but my untimate favorite is strawberry icecream with chocolate jimmies in a sugar cone! Simply devine! It accually has real strawberries! well, I am a hairdresser with real short hair. I ordered dish and shrimp combo, that cost me $ 17.00. When my number was called I went to the counter to pick it up . I look down and a long black hair was across my plate. I said to the girl behind the counter...there is a long black hair in my food, its not mine...she says...well what do you want me to do? And WALKS off! So now I'm rippin ....I ask to see the cook after the girl was not helpful at all. I said to him, I found a hair in my food, the girl did not want to help me. I'm telling him this so he can teach het people skills. Then he says...what do you want me to do?? With a dumb look???? He says do you want me to make another???? And he did nothing. I want to say that I have been coming to Rosewood for years and have always looked forward to the footlong dogs and especially the onion rings. My family is the same way. In the past, the food was great, the kids who wait on the counter were cheerful and enthusiastic and more than willing to help. This season something has changed. The food is bland, the waitstaff are not well versed in customer service and appear as though the customers are an interruption as opposed to their reason for being there. I recently went in to get a couple of hotdogs, kids meal and footlong, to go. When I got to the car, the small dog was barely grilled and cold. I went back in to get it corrected. When I got the attention of one of the waitstaff, I informed her of the situation whereby she took the takeout container back to the kitchen. After a minute she came back and awkwardly asked me what I would like. I told her I wanted a new meal, cooked this time. They never apologized or even offered to comp the meal. I also noticed that the bottled drinks were gone in favor of fountain drinks and water bottles. I really love this place and hope they can find a way to improve the customer service and bring the food quality back to where it was before. I am giving a 2 star review at present due to the incident above and the general lack of customer service. One more chance, folks. I will revise this review after my next visit. read more

This was our first time at the restaurant, unfortunately, the last. My friend ordered the haddock plate that comes with onion rings and fries. The haddock was too dry and tasteless, the onion rings were not cooked all the way and the fries were greasy. Just as the food came, we noticed ants crawling on the side of the wall, we saw about 6 medium size ants, disgusting! My family ate at Rosewoods last night on a recommendation from a friend. Our seafood was delicious, the batter is light allowing the delicious flavor of the seafood to shine through. My husband and I had the scallop plate and a clam plate both were excellent. There are a nice assortment of condiments available and the food is not heavily seasoned which is a plus for someone with sodium restrictions. You can always add salt but you can't take it away so pleased Rosewoods gets this. The kids had a burger and fries and a chicken finger plate and both were happy with their meals. The staff was friendly and helpful and the ice cream was amazing. We will definitely be back to try the lobster rolls which looked delicious. Definitely worth the drive. read more

Best Place Around!!! Great food and very generous portions and reasonably priced! Absolutely favorite place. They also have great service!!! Everyone who works there are very polite and mature for being so young! When we last went Kyle helped us at the counter and was AWESOME! Everything about Rosewoods gets a 5 - the environment is nostalgic and simple, the prices are great (6.50 for the best fish sandwich), the workers are kind and prompt, and the food of course is great!! Rosewoods is notorious for their ice cream (which was my initial reason for visiting), but their menu items are great as well. The batter they use for the fried seafood is one of the best I've had, nothing too crazy in flavor so it doesn't take away from the taste of the seafood, but the lightest, crispiest batter I've had in a very long time. I will be returning consistently for the fried fish!! (and the ice cream of course) read more
