Came here because of the reviews but Gnats (bugs) flying everywhere!!! Restaurant is covered in flying bugs all over the place even coming onto plate. When we realized there were 10 on the wall we realized there was a serious problem in there. Bugs flying in the cake refrigerator. We sent back two plates couldn't finish horrible experience. First of all, the sourdough French toast was INCREDIBLE. Best French toast I've ever had. I wish it wasn't an extra $3 to add strawberries though. I got the all around town combo and the eggs were great but I didn't like the sausage. It had a weird fennel flavor, but I could see someone else liking it, so I think it's just a personal preference. I'm only docking a star because I wasn't super happy with the service. I went for lunch around 1pm on a weekday, so they weren't super busy, but I had to go up to the hostess twice because my waitress was MIA. She was nice when she was there though! Have always wanted to try this place and finally, we gave it a chance. From the outside it looked like a nice newer restaurant but the inside looked old and plain. It's clean but it was older than what I expected. It reminded me of noodle houses I went to as a child. Service was good and quick. Had to wait 5 minutes for a table but everything went fast. Food come in Big portions! Hubby devoured his whole plate (The Works Omelette); proof that he enjoyed his food. Mine wasn't as enjoyable as it was too salty. First, let me start with the Tortilla Scramble. On the side, it comes with tortillas so that you could make a breakfast scramble, or just eat it plain. I had it with ketchup, but you can also try it with hot sauce. It tastes just like your regular breakfast burrito, simple but delicious! Second, the Chili Egg Puff. The Chili Egg Puff has jalapeños inside, and a kick of spice. I think it was pretty good, but one of my least favorite out of what we got. It was still pretty good though. Next, the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. They were probably one of my favorites out of what we got. The frosting was amazing, but sweet. I would eat this for every meal if I could, because this was right in my wheelhouse. Next, the Breakfast sandwich. It was AMAZING! It had avocado, tomato, bacon, eggs, everything. It was amazing with the fried egg, and I got fruit on the side instead of the country potatoes. Lastly, the Paradise Cove mocktail. The pineapple flavor was probably the strongest, but it was refreshing and delicious. The service was amazing! All of our food came very quickly and the servers came quickly to ask for food and give drinks and food, but I liked it. Finally, the mood was chill and fun. Everyone was smiling and enjoying their food, and having fun. This is an amazing restaurant, so now you can see why I have it 5 stars. Beautiful spacious open restaurant with lots of tables and booths for seating and noted high ceilings. Our waitress Kathy was very attentive and provided us such great service. She checked on us frequently and made sure our coffee and water cups were filled. We ordered the Calamari Steak Breakfast, which was delicious. The Calamari Steak was so flavorful and went perfect with the over-easy eggs and country potatoes. The pancake was also delicious in that it was fluffy and not too cakey. If anything I was drooling over all the delicious desserts that you see when you enter the restaurant. I can't wait to try the desserts for next time. One of my favorite meals on the Central Coast! It's located in the downtown area, so parking is scarce. We sat outside with our dog and enjoyed the people watching. My wife had the fettuccine alfredo and I had the black and bleu steak sandwich. We both had the caesar salad and agreed it was one of the best in recent memory. My sandwich was great, but I had to work around a piece of tendon in the steak. Since the steak is uncut, it took a little work, but that's steak for you. My wife enjoyed her pasta dish. Onto the cakes... wow. The display case is Jenny Craig's worst nightmare! I didn't know what half the cakes were and there were so many that you'd spend an hour asking someone "what's this... what's that?." I'd love it if they put some small labels on the cake. I'm the end, my wife had the peanut butter brownie and I had the carrot cake. We loved them both. I'm not a huge brownie fan but my wife loved it. The carrot cake is delicious. I'm sure I would have loved any cake they put in front of me. Our server was top notch -- I wish I knew her name to give her a bigger shout out. Thanks for a great meal. We went for brunch on a Sunday with a reservation at 12:30 PM and were seated within five minutes of waiting. I was glad we made a reservation since it was quite busy. The service was excellent--our waitress checked in at the perfect times for water and coffee refills and to take our order. My boyfriend ordered the omelet, which was well-seasoned and flavorful; I would highly recommend it. I tried the crab cake benedict special, which came highly recommended. While I was excited to try it, the dish didn't quite meet my expectations as the crab cake was too mushy for my liking and lacked seasoning. We were hyped to go here for breakfast and we used Open Table for reservation. Only 8 & 8:15 AM was available for reservation. We got there and the place was empty. We were the first customers. We tried the chili puff eggs for breakfast and it was a huge portion. The other order was Sourdough French toast with eggs & bacon. Service was ok, our water glass was never refilled considering no was there except another 2 customers. We passed by the dessert display and cakes were massive. All cakes are baked on the premises daily. We will come back and try a slice for dessert. Ambiance is casual. I should also note there was a loud maintenance drilling going on so that didn't help. They are very generous with their portions and the food was amazing, delicious, just plain Perfection! Also I was pleased that you get toast, wonderful country potatoes( huge chunks) and three eggs served with these dishes in particular! A great homestyle Italian restaurant in Old Monterey! Flavortown, indeed! Entrees include soup or salad, so we got straight to business. Chicken parm with their famous minestrone, and lasagna with a green salad for each of us. Great flavor in a chunky, hearty soup along with a pretty standard simple mixed salad. All good so far. The entrees came out and WOW'ed us. Huge portions, including several pieces of garlic bread. The chicken was crispy and cheesy with a nice red sauce. The cream sauce on pasta side was also good. Tasty without being too heavy. The lasagna was really meaty and nicely layered. We got through maybe half of each main dish? You have to save room for all the desserts! All delicious and homemade. No-nonsense Italian/ American restaurant with great food, solid portions, and friendly Service. Stopped by here for dinner while in Monterrey with a group of friends. When we arrived the place was pretty crowded - we were told it'd be a thirty-minute wait but it ended up being an hour... The wait aside, this meal was very solid. For a starter we got an order of Onion rings for the table - the onion rings themselves were fairly standard - thick cut and served with ranch. The ranch was really good - it had a little more herbs than your normal Hidden Valley ranch which was a nice touch. For mains, we each got our own entree. I ordered the Caprese Pasta with a side of Minestrone, and the rest of the table had a kid's meal of pasta with meat sauce and sausage, a pesto fettuccine with a side salad, and the braised lamb shank. The minestrone (which was reviewed on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) was really really good. I honestly could've done a whole bowl of it. It was hearty and meaty. One of the best minestrone soups I've had. The Caprese Pasta was extremely good - it was rich and the sausage that was included was really nice. The Garlic bread it came with was simple but effective - the garlic topping they loaded on it was a perfect blend of buttery, salty and garlicky. Another thing to note - the portion sizes of the entrees are * g e n e r o us * You'll definitely have enough for at least one extra meal Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals and, from the few things I was able to try around the table, all the entrees we got were fantastic. Aside from the extended wait for our table, our experience at Rosine's was fantastic. The solid food, on top of the friendly service, definitely made this the best meal we had in Monterrey. Their Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all served with more than generous portions that usually send you home with leftovers. Located in the heart of Old Monterey downtown makes it a convenient meeting place, where it is nice to sit in the open French door window seats and watch the people strolling around as you eat. Even on a busy Saturday afternoon with around 90 diners we were served our meals in about 15 minutes. Forgettable how generous the portions were, we each took home half our sandwiches for later. Service was ok but our waiter wasn't very friendly and it's easy to be forgotten when we're not in the actual restaurant. We got a surf and turf entrée and a penne pasta with meatballs. The surf and turf came with an option of a soup and we originally ordered their clam chowder but it was incredibly salty. Another server switched it for the minestrone soup which was better but had too much cheese dumped in it. The broccoli side was inedible. The pasta was good. We didn't stay for dessert. This place is a local faviorite. I have been coming since a child. My go to is always the tuna melt. Side salad with extra croutons. Their croutons are the best! Calamari app, which are the strips are great. Can't miss out on the minnestrone soup. Super hardy, flavorful and warming. Now the LASAGNA is the best thing ever, its always consistent and a large portion. Thee best! Chicken parm is great as well. Cajun pasta just isn't cajun, the seasoning is different, more of like 5 spice. It was defienetly misssing the cajun/blackened taste. Also the corn throws it off. This restaurant is located downtown with parking nearby. We arrived on a Sunday around 11 am. There was a 15 minute wait which went by fast due to waiting in a long line for the bathroom. We were sat at the end of the booth to the left of the restaurant. The seat of the booth was not attached so it would move forward and backwards. We didn't have to wait long to be greeted and served. We had a great dinner here while visiting Monterey for a conference. We were seated at the exact time of our reservation with no waiting at all. The bakery case at the entry definitely works to stimulate your sweet taste buds and makes you want to order dessert first! Two of us ordered the chicken parmesan, which was recommended by our server. It was plentiful and pretty tasty, although I thought it was a little odd to serve it over fettucine alfredo. There was enough that we could have shared a dinner, but I took the rest back to the hotel and had it for lunch the next day. The third member of our party ordered the steak, which he said was good and prepared perfectly. I was a little disappointed that the very expensive glass of wine I ordered was only half full. For that price, they should give you a better pour. And of course we had to have cake! We chose the chocolate chocolate layer cake and it was to die for! You just can't miss at Rosine's. We had a disappointing breakfast at another restaurant the day before we came here, and it was such a delight to eat here again. We ordered strawberry waffles with a side of eggs and bacon. Everything was cooked perfect. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and delicious, and the mimosa was good too. They have amazing-looking cakes that we have yet to try, but we will be back to get a slice! This place can get busy fast, so it's better if you make a reservation, but both times we've been here, we were able to get a table fast; once outdoors with our dog, and once indoors at a nice booth.
