This is a famous local spot. The setting is well decorated. Very welcoming and lit place. Family oriented establishment. The staff is fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. We had the chili egg puff which is probably my favorite dish. It was absolutely excellent. For me it was like a quiche and chili relleno mix. Super delicious. The chicken fried steak and eggs is a large serving so be ready to eat and the gravy smothered on top is amazing. The Italian omelette has their homemade sausage in it that has an excellent flavor and spice. This is an amazing restaurant. Very high energy and great vibe. We stopped by Rosine's for brunch on Saturday. Our family of three with our dog were seated within 10mins in the outdoor area. We started off with a Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini which was delicious and Pineapple Juice. For food we ordered the Chicken Parmesan served over fettuccine which came with a side minestrone soup. The chicken parm was what we came for and it delivered! The minestrone soup was the best minestrone soup I've ever had (apparently it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives). We also ordered the Chicken and Waffles - basic chicken tenders served over a waffle with house gravy sauce. The dish was good, but paled in comparison to the chicken parm and minestrone. Overall we had a great experience - good food and drinks, dog friendly, and awesome service. I would dine here again just for the minestrone soup. read more

We were going to the aquarium, at 10:30 on a Sunday we got seated in 5 min, placed our orders, 5 of us and were on our way around 11:30. I had a burger and onion rings. The others four had breakfast, chilaquiles, pancakes, eggs, omelette. We all enjoyed the food. Large portions. Decent price point. Overall very clean, clean bathrooms. I'm going to break the community, comrade script for a second. Been frequenting this area for a while and this is one of those that survives based on location not quality. Food is super average to subpar and I ordered the best thing on the menu and husband ordered a pasta plate. More importantly if you find a thick black pubic/beard hair in your food, as gross as it is, be sure to save it because you might get the waiter whose knee jerk reaction was wanting the evidence as if I go around doing this often. I come here often and never usually leave a review, but I was definitely disappointed. I've always been getting the seafood pasta with alfredo sauce and had no real complaints about it. But this time, the dish appears smaller and doesn't have any flavor. From the salmon to the sauce it was definitely not worth the $30 price tag for that one plate. Although the bread was actually good. My fiance got the chicken salad again it's chicken salad hard to mess that up. We also got the calamari and fries which is also a usual dish we get, but this time the calamari strips were alot thinner and portion appears less. I'm not sure if they are under new ownership or have different chefs working, but alot of things seem to have changed. Side note: I think you guys should close your doors while guess are dining. Lots of flies are coming in and can be seen in places where they 100% shouldn't be. Overall the service was good, wait times are short, ambiance is great. This review is based on two separate visits. My first visit was during brunch hour. My husband ordered the Chili egg puffs and I got the chicken parmesan. We also got a bowl of the minestrone. Our waitress was nice and accommodating. I don't think we would ever get the egg puffs again. However the soup was amazing! I am not typically a chicken parm fan but I saw that this had Alfredo served with it as well and I was intrigued. This was one the best chicken parms Ive ever had. The chicken had immaculate flavor and still stayed so crispy. The alfredo was very saucy and creamy. It was perfect. I also got a biscoff latte which was delicious. On my second visit I came with my sister and her family. We all got the soup which again was wonderful. We ordered a bunch of dishes to try. We got the lasagna, chicken parm, chicken piccata, and pasta with meat sauce. The lasagna was SO GOOD. I still think about that lasagna. I was so excited for my sister and her family to try the chicken parmesan I was raving about. The chicken this time around was soggy and had a prominent fishy taste and smell. We are not the biggest seafood fans. There were four people at the table and 3/4 could not continue eating the chicken parm due to the strong taste and smell of fish. This was really disappointing because the last time I had chicken parm it was perfect and I was so excited for my family to try it. Turns out they fry the chicken and calamari in the same oil. I highly suggest they stop doing that. The chicken piccata wasn't any of our favorites. The pasta with meat sauce was a solid choice. It was good. We also got a chocolate raspberry cake which was tasty as well. For my next visit I am looking forward to having the minestrone soup again, definitely the lasagna, and hopefully a chicken parm that doesn't taste like fish! read more

Breakfast is the meal here. I had avocado toast. It must have been an off day because the recipe is well written. The bread was A+. The avocado was a thin layer and I'm glad because it was overripe avocado and tasted icky. The other veg and toppings were excellent. My hub had an egg dish. He enjoyed it and had to send back the potatoes. Not because they were bad, there were just too many. I wish restaurants would not pile the plates with potatoes. They just get wasted. Ate here twice in three days during our last visit to Monterey. I must say that the food was very good. The guest night, I had the black and blue steak. This was one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life. The vegetables were so good and fresh. Unfortunately I have a shellfish allergy and while no one at my table ordered any, I did have a small micro reaction having been seated next to a party that ordered a lot of it. No one to fault here, but if you have a shellfish allergy, consider taking it to go. For the second visit, I had a breakfast scramble. Super filling and flavorful, but it could've used more seasoning. The sweet and spicy wings were also very good. All the cake looked good but I had a slice of carrot cake. I ordered the lamb shanks and boy it was 2 shanks served with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes too It with sauce . It comes also with either soup or salad. I opted on the soup which is Minestrone. The only down side on the lamb shank was too much sauce. For appetizers we ordered fried calamari steak that comes with fries to our surprise and fried battered cauliflower topped with blue cheese and a ranch sauce. I'd go for the dessert alone. We had the German Chocolate Cake and I would eat this all day everyday. Raspberry Lemon Drop - delicious! Sweet without being too sweet. And just strong enough without being too much. Pastrami Rueben- a good sandwich, but slightly soggy since the sauerkraut was not drained enough before being placed on the sandwich and I had to eat it fast. The fries were just ok. The black and bleu steak - it was so delicious, the entire plate mind you, steak, baked potato, and zucchini, didn't stand a chance. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The restaurant was very busy and staff moved tables for incoming parties without being disruptive to diners, they were agile, ultimate professionals and everyone looked extremely satisfied. This is the biggest slice of cake I've ever seen. At $10 a pop, it takes up nearly the whole container. A lot of bang for your buck. Quick and friendly service. Was really hoping to find a classic local spot in Monterey, but Rosine's was sadly disappointing. We knew we'd be getting classic comfort food, but every dish was just slightly lacking in flavor. We started with the clam chowder, which was nice but didn't have a very strong clam flavor. It was a bit like eating a bowl of white gravy with clams in it. I had the angel hair which was pretty solid with the add-on goat cheese, but would have been pretty bland without it. I agree with another reviewer saying capers might have really leveled up this dish. The add-on Salmon was nicely cooked, but I asked for a lemon to squeeze on a bit more flavor. My boyfriend got the seafood pasta, and he said: "The seafood was well-cooked. The menu said penne, but they used fettuccini with no explanation. Overall, serviceable but not a stand-out." The garlic bread was dry on both our entrees and needed extra butter. After having to doctor our dishes so much, I can't say we'd recommend this place, but it's definitely "serviceable." read more

Most of our table enjoyed their food! We were a large party and came in on a busy Saturday. We were seated in about 50 minutes with no reservation. Our waiter appeared promptly and got about 3/4 of our drink orders. We had a round of waters and one of the glasses our water came in had pink lipstick on it. It was not our lipstick as none of the ladies were even wearing lipstick, much less that shade. I sent the glass back and no apology or even a blink from the waiter when I told him it was dirty. We got our food and we notified a staff member that they forgot to take the rest of our drink orders. Guess what? The same glass (or another glass, who knows) came back to our table with the lipstick smudged. At this point I looked at one of our family members and he also notified the staff that we had just sent back a water glass for having lipstick marks on it and they literally sent it right back. We held the glass hostage at that point as they tried to take it for the third time so that we wouldn't get it brought back to our table. Again. We proceeded to finish our meal, ordered plenty of drinks. No acknowledgment from our actual waiter or anyone else for that matter on the dirty glass. We understand a busy night and the food is good. Went here for the first time for dinner before a show at the Golden State Theater. We were seated right away and ordered one of the featured cocktails. My entree, Salmon Florentine, was delicious. Just the right amount of sauce and spinach. Loved the glazed carrots on the side. Portion size was generous. My husband enjoyed his Stuffed Salmon, filled with pesto and goat cheese. Ambiance was casual and relaxed, although it was already starting to get busy when we got there. None of the staff seemed stressed or rushed. Portion is pretty small and my toast was burnt (see pic), maybe more burnt than I expected or would like. Omelette was half the size I normally will get at ihop. My kid ordered an extra sausage, costs $1.50, and one extra egg scrambled cost also $2.50 but the portion looks like only one egg. Coffee taste watery and run down.
