This is one of my all-time favorite tap rooms. It is in the heart of Walnut Creek off of Broadway. Parking is plentiful, but you will almost certainly need to pay for the street parking. On rare occasions, I get one of the free spots near the entrance. But don't count on it. I have had countless wonderful conversations with the patrons who come here. Plus, the bartenders are always cheerful and helpful. Naturally, there's a good selection of beer, and the bartender is helpful in helping you make a selection. There is usually a food service out front.

My adult sons and I stopped here. I ordered the apple seltzer it was really good. My son ordered at counter and got our drinks and snack. Then we headed upstairs to hang out. They have large seating with couches and a restroom upstairs and downstairs. Very chill place. We were okay until we stepped on dog poop upstairs. There were a few ppl upstairs with dogs. We love pets, however customers need to be responsible for their pets. Or place may need to check often for clean ups. We didn't expect this to happen floor is wooden brown that it blended. Update: Thank you Marc for reaching out. I really appreciate it. I don't want the dog incident to reflect on the business. Gotta love this is a pet friendly environment. But more so for the pet owners to be more conscious and responsible for their pets.

Loved this place but hate the fact that I don't live nearby and can't make this a regular thing! Guess I need to move back to WC! Set in a former body shop ( might have been a Mikes back in my Enterprise days in the Creek) it has a cool industrial vibe and a mixed crowd of families, groups and dogs which I loved! Upstairs and downstairs seating, food trucks are available in the parking lot and. FANTASTIC range of beers both on tap and canned! Loved the beers, the vibe, the people, service was lovely and friendly! Cannot wait to return!

A very cool spot tucked away from the hustle and bustle to grab a drink and relax. Very welcoming beertenders and the people who come here are the friendliest people, who some come with their dogs. There's a food truck right outside and they serve good food, reasonable and fast. I love their kombuchas and the vibe here. They also sometimes have a DJ who comes and plays pretty fun top 40 music. I enjoy coming here.

Nice place to grab a beer! They have beers from local breweries and special features that rotate. Got some darks, hazy beers, smoothie-style, cider and seltzers. On Untapped if you like to check in your beers Plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Parking lot is small. We had to pay for street meter parking which is $1/hour. Also had popcorn for $5 with interesting flavors like Spirulina and nutritional yeast. Dog friendly with a patio area. We also ordered pizza from Pinky's Pizza which is around the corner. They will walk over and deliver your pizza to you. There's no signs posted telling you how to do this but reading other yelpers reviews I knew to go online and call and order. Took about 30-35 minutes on a busy Saturday night for the pizza to come. Also watched the Warriors game here; they have a lot of large TV screens and bartenders are very gracious and friendly! They'll change the TV and give you local tips.

sun is blocked off by the building -- perfect for those hot summer afternoons!

Great little spot to grab a local beer or two... or three. ;) I've been meaning to check this spot out since pre-COVID, but of course, plans changed. Finally got around to it on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and I'll definitely be returning. Nice open space with tables inside and out. TVs were showing both A's and Giants games (which my bf and I appreciate as divided fans haha). Only a few parking spaces in their lot, but lots of street parking. Beer selection is vast -- both on tap and canned! I appreciate the mix of the "tried and true," like Russian River and Henhouse and ones farther north that I'd never tried before. The fridge selection was even more extensive, so of course we had to snag some cans for later. As for food, I know you can order pizza nearby to get delivered, but it's not clear how to go about that. No signage on tables or mention anywhere online that I could find, so maybe ask staff if you're interested.

A must-visit place for anyone living in the area (4/5 Green Stars)…read moreBring cash! That's the first rule of Schmidt's Pub. Maybe it's the only rule! I've been coming here a bit more regularly, lately - more visits in the last year compared to the previous decade, in fact. Now I wonder what I was waiting for. According to the East Bay Express, Schmidt's Pub is "basically your living room, but better" - that does sum it up, except that very few of us have living rooms anything like this, with a cozy fireplace surrounded by comfy armchairs and rustic tables beside sunny windows. Not many of us have living rooms with Old Speckled Hen on tap, or populated with an entertaining parade of quirky folk and friendly dogs. If the people and dogs are not entertaining enough then pick up a copy of Calvin and Hobbes or A History of Clay Pipes (okay, I made that one up) and have a little retreat with a pint. 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these factors: * Beer on tap (transported in reusable kegs) has a much lower footprint compared to bottles or cans. * Allows you to bring your own food, which is good for folk like vegans who are often more comfortable with BYO. * The snacks available at the counter could be a bit more Berkeley (or Albany)! They were mostly from big corps - Lays chips (PepsiCo) and chocolate bars from Mars. Would be nice to see a more imaginative/ethical selection. * A great community space with an inclusive atmosphere. Schmidt's is home to many groups (e.g., knitting) and provides a second family for many, some who send postcards from their trips! * Finally, we shouldn't underestimate the importance of having a place to slow down, reflect and connect with each other a little. In that respect, Schmidt's Pub is worth its weight in gold.

The Fish & Chips are the best I've had in the city! Not greasy at all and simply delightful. They also have a solid selection of beers on tap; I enjoyed a Deschutes IPA and a Guinness. A lot of people were ordering Old Speckled Hen, which I want to try next time--I've never heard of that beer and it seems quite popular. The menu features all the hits of a British pub. I want to try their Shepherd's Pie next time, and my husband wants to get the bangers and mash. He was hoping they had a scotch egg, but that's the one item not on the menu. Oh, and some sticky toffee pudding would be awesome! The only downside was a large party of eight people with screaming children. We can't seem to escape that in restaurants lately--even in a pub. Ugh, it was terrible and sadly put a damper on an otherwise delightful experience. Chuck E. Cheese energy is not the vibe. Despite that, we will be back.

From the very beginning, the customer service was lacking. Before finalizing my event, I visited the venue in person to ask questions and get a better understanding of the space. The Hispanic male employee I interacted with was unfriendly, unapproachable, and unable or unwilling to answer even basic questions, repeatedly telling me to contact sales. While I understand that sales handles bookings, I expected someone who works at the venue to be able to provide some level of assistance or information. Unfortunately, his attitude remained the same during the event. Several things that had been requested were not set up as discussed, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. What upset me most was that some of my guests arrived carrying water bottles, and this employee openly told me, in front of my guests, that he would kick us out if he sees outside drinks again. I found this incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The experience became so uncomfortable that many of my guests left early. For what was supposed to be a special occasion, the service and treatment we received fell far below expectations. Considering the amount spent, I expected professionalism, hospitality, and a welcoming environment. Unfortunately, we received the opposite. I would not host another event here, nor would I recommend this venue to others looking for a place to celebrate an important occasion.

I never waited in the beverage line for more than a few minutes. Food was ordered at the bar and servers ran it out. Several TVs inside along the wall, a large projector screen on the east wall, and a 65" outside all displayed the game. The sound was good too. I had no difficulty hearing the match over the noise of the crowded venue. Water was supplied next to the bar and was self service. It was constantly kept full. I never saw it empty. When the bar served so much it ran out of glasses they already had plastic cups available. Overall, great spot full of great people. Well done.

My wife and I had just visited Abbey Tavern this past weekend, a premier Scottish pub in the City, and we expected a similar atmosphere. However, the moment we showed up, we were met with great disappointment. The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.

One of the things that happened when I visited this bar was I asked for a simple lemonade. The reason was because I had a soccer game the next day and I didn't want to drink alcohol and I wanted to get some electrolytes in me. It would have been very simple for the bartender to just say, "I'm sorry we don't serve lemonade." Instead what he did is say I worked here 20 years and he never served lemonade and then kept scoffing at me. He kept saying this three times, walking back and forth, up until the point the patron next to me even said, "Don't worry about him." After that without even me talking to him, he said, "Who orders lemonade at an Irish pub?" Then without me saying anything, he said, "No one orders lemonade at an Irish pub." I was honestly just trying to get a drink and he made me feel very dumb. Overall if a patron asks you for a drink, it's very easy just to say, "I'm sorry we can't do that," but he kept making me feel like an idiot. I was also surprised they did not serve lemonade; that's a very simple request. He didn't offer any alternatives except for 7-Up, which I didn't really want but paid for anyway. I ended up not drinking it even after I paid for it and leaving the bar. I guess the bartender got what he wanted. He gave me a drink that was other than lemonade; he made me pay for it and I just left the bar unhappy. I would highly recommend against visiting this establishment, especially with the grumpy bartender. He is an older white Irish guy. I understand they might have your own customers at the bar but I think it costs nothing to treat patrons with respect and not tell them that they're stupid for asking for a drink. Overall I would not recommend this place at all. Very enforced error. Sad!
