What we ordered: fish tartar, fries, focaccia, 40 oz steak Price: $460 (after a mandatory 20% tip) Let's start with the positives: steak was cooked well and tasted great and that's it. My little brother wanted steak so I took him here for a nice lunch. We asked for tap water and got a bottle of water ($22) that we didn't realize was going to cost anything (on account of us asking for tap). To start I ordered a focaccia ($14) and a tartar ($34). The bread came and it was two small loaves that looked nothing like a focaccia or tasted nothing like it. It came with a tiny dip and 3 confit garlic teeth and half a roasted jalapeño. It wasn't a focaccia nor was it good (we were starving though). The tartar came and the fish was pan fried to well done. I personally never heard of a fully cooked tartar. My brother already started eating so I didn't want send it back and ate the under seasoned salad portion while he ate the overcooked fish. The steak ($275) was excellent so no complaints there. I didn't mind that it was overpriced since at least it was a nearly perfectly cooked medium rare (which is hard to do on such a large steak). The fries ($16) however, were horrible. Hardly crunchy and somehow dry on the inside (and few in number). The bill came and a mandatory 20% tip was added. I wouldn't normally mind since I tip at least that usually, but I mind if it's a mandatory 20% when the waitress was on lunch break for a good portion of our meal. A restaurant shouldn't charge steak house prices without either steak house quality food or steak house service. It's normal for waiting staff to need to eat lunch- but then you need to have staff to compensate. If you don't, you certainly can't start the mandatory tipping amount at 20%. Rothschild TLV doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. The lack of vision is clear. Music typically found at a shawarma grill, prices from a top end steak house, service of a sit down burger joint, focaccia that isn't focaccia, and salad befitting a fast casual restaurant (bizarrely labeled "tartar"). The chef is talented (otherwise the steak wouldn't be as good as it was), but it seems to me that he's given a confusing vision by ownership. The sushi/steak house combo just made me think of reserve cut (and so did the prices) and the comparison wasn't flattering to Rothschild TLV. read more

Truly a great surprise. We ordered an Argentinian steak and a ribeye. We also their salad which you can see in the photos, but I do not recall the name of the salad. Service is top notch in terms of pleasantry exchanges, attentiveness and a genuine interest in making the experience welcoming and comfortable. Happy we stumbled onto this place by chance. read more

Me, my wife , my 3 kids and my mother in law went to Rothschild and had a reservation and didn't get seated at all. They had let people sit that weren't eating and they had tables uncleaned for the next people. This is NOT a restaurant I would recommend, they made excuses and in the end we all had to leave due to the fact they did not make an effort to seat us. We had asked multiple times how much longer we had to wait even though we had a reservation and couldn't even give us an answer. read more

Hip spot and good kosher food. But, $44 for a burger. Really? I mean it was a good burger. I got the lamb burger with a pretzel bun and fries (see picture). But $44? And $24 for 2 Miami Cigars? Sorry but that's just a bit ridiculous. I mean if you didn't keep kosher, you could go to the Polo Bar and get a burger cheaper than that. In addition, the service was terrible. Took forever for someone to take our order, water was filled once toward the end of the meal after we asked and took forever to get the check. So 1 star for decor, 2 stars for food quality but a star off for service and a star off for price. read more

Went to Rothschild TLV tonight with my wife. Made reservations online and we were seating almost immediately upon arriving. The waitress, Dalmina , was so friendly and knowledgeable about all the dishes on the menu. Having an allergy or two, she quickly went to the chef and spoke with the kitchen staff, who not only advised which dishes could have substitutions in place of my allergy, but she came back with a paper menu with notes from the kitchen staff and chef highlighting what not to order. After ordering three starters and being amazed at the tastes presentation, our main courses arrived. When you ask for a certain temperature for your steak, it was spot on! The side veggies were immaculate, and a perfect fit for a steak entree. Struggling to figure out wether to order desert or not, we chose to order and wow were we amazed!! The deserts looked like art and tasted like heaven. Fortunately, we got to meet the chef/owner Tal Abaov, and gave him the biggest smiles and compliments on the food of this incredible restaurant and of course that we would be writing a review about the positive experience we had here. I agree with the other reviews that this is a rude establishment. I was sitting at the bar having a glass of wine. The rabbi who apparently is part of the management came over and spoke very rudely to me regarding a takeout coffee cup I had sitting on the bar, "Do you know this is a kosher restaurant?" he said, "We don't allow outside drinks." I wasn't drinking the coffee, the cup was empty, i had only just set it on the bar when I came in. He said -(he didn't ask)- he would like to throw it away, and I agreed, but the manner in which he was speaking to me was strange and unnecessarily rude . The bartender and server had been very nice and the wine was good, but the brusque way the rabbi approached and spoke to me about this coffee cup I had on the bar was odd and turned me off from wanting to ever come back. Wow so excited to have a place like this on the UES. Really limited kosher options with a great vibe like Rothschild TLV. I would 100% come back just for the atmosphere. The food was very good. Lamb burger was UNREAL. Apps were okay. I think I would order differently next time. The one thing that always baffles me is the terrible service in kosher establishments. And this restaurant was more of the same. The staff was overextended and underprepared to service the amount of people in the restaurant. When I go out to a nice restaurant I expect to be waited on and checked in on to see if I need something. They either need to hire more staff or do some more training because I don't think it's acceptable to charge those prices and be ignored during your meal. read more

Rather overpriced, and the service is unfriendly. Quite strange for a new place . When we were there they seemed to go out of their way to be warm and nice to "certain" clientele, and be almost comedically abrupt and icy with the rest. A very strange business model. However I have seen quite a few people here eating outside since they put their street seating up, and I'm also rooting for all local businesses which dare to start up during Covid. read more

We enjoyed our meal here. We sat outside on the sidewalk and received very attentive service. Water cup was always filled and waiters were nearby at all times even though the restaurant was quite busy both indoors and outside. Beef cigars were quite good. Had high hopes for the risotto appetizer with short rib and truffle but it was just OK. Portion was small and it didn't really 'wow' us. Cauliflower appetizer looked much better so maybe we'll try that next time. The short rib flatbread also looked great--would come back for that too. Highly recommend the beef burger. It tasted like a high quality burger and the fries are fresh potatoes, not frozen. Like other reviewers have mentioned it is on the pricier side. It was worth it in our opinion! read more

Fantastic meals @ Rothschild TLV. I ordered their lamp chop appetizer- highly recommend. Their ribeye steak (had on another visit) was tender, juicy, had a nice crust and perfectly cooked. I also tried their fried striped bass on one occasion and was extremely surprised by how good it was - usually do not eat fish at a kosher restaurant. Service was superb.
