another try for la mesa round table pizza. oh, what a poor choice! I tried this place a few years ago and was not impressed. Finding myself in La Mesa, with the choice of Italian or Asian, I figured I would see if there was any change at Round Table pizza buffet. Friday, about 12:15 pm, and this place was hopping. As other folks have noticed, prime table space is occupied by books and papers and files. There is a layer of dust that tells me it has not moved much. There were at least 40 people in the restaurant. When I paid my $9.70, the pizzas on the buffet were moving in about 2 minutes. The kitchen kept pizza moving, with 2 of every 3 pizzas having pepperoni. Every 3rd pizza was either ham and pineapple or vegetarian combo. The crust, as always at Round Table, was outstanding! The right yeast dough, done to perfection, sturdy enough to hold a good amount of toppings, but missing the normal toppings to the edge. All of their pizzas had at least an inch of crust without toppings. The garlic knots were overdone, at least the second batch that came out was. My beverage choice, iced tea, required me to take a step into the pass-thru just beyond the pizza buffet table. It is a mess behind the buffet table, with various boxes, bags and buckets, some with liquid standing in them. I was assailed with a whiff of a chemical cleaner that I could not immediately identify. It was only when I saw the crew bussing tables and squirting the smelly stuff on table before wiping them down that I could identify the smell. This is honestly the best pizza chain franchise I have ever been to. Every pizza I have ever ordered from here has been plastered with TOO MANY TOPPINGS. I am not complaining though! Raining, thundering in San Diego today...a perfect day to stay inside and watch old movies. Pizza sounds great. But from where? There are 4 or 5 places nearby. Round Table is close, let's try them. I grew up on Round Table Pizza. It was "the" hangout at The Plaza in Rancho Bernardo. My family ate Round Table every other weekend, at least. Spicy sauce, lots of cheese... I dig this stuff. If I'm going to stuff myself properly; eat something that could contribute to heart disease and making my clothes to tight, I'm going big. This is the stuff. Tonight, between a late afternoon playdate, husband at a work function and my three-day-long craving for pizza it was Round Table for the toddler and I. Ordinary take-out order, nothing spectacular. Usual friendly service. I ordered a medium cheese and medium pepperoni. Get home, get my over tired toddler settled, only to see two pepperoni pizzas. My receipt read two medium pepperoni. Bugger... Here's where I felt compelled to write a review: I called and the apathetic girl passed me right to a manager who offered me a pizza in five minutes. When I lamented that this required getting my toddler in the car, driving there and back, he immediately got a driver on the phone, a pizza in the oven. He could hear my daughter saying, "But, momma... I wanted a pizza..." He apologized to my daughter. A really nice touch. Less than 15 minutes later, a fresh cheese pizza arrived at our door. The driver was smiling and friendly and there was a note on the box bearing apologies, too. If I'm going out for pizza, I'm heading to Lefty's or Bronx. But, if its comfort food or a family room, pizza picnic sort of night? This is where we'll be getting our pizza. No matter what. In short: Good pizza and people who give a crap. While this is a four star review, it's four stars for a pizza chain compared to actual pizza restaurants. Haven't actually been to this location, but we have it delivered now and then. Overall, the pizza is pretty good, but some of their toppings really are not. My preferred pizza is sausage and pepperoni. Their pepperoni is pretty good and has a little bit of crispiness to the edges, but the sausage here is horrible and barely stays on the pizza. When you pick up a piece, the sausage just rolls off. In place of the sausage, I got bacon on it the last time and it was pretty good, but not a lot on it. My toppings do create a saltier pizza than most, but even without the toppings the pizza can be a little salty sometimes. Round Table probably has the absolute best crust of any fast food pizza chain. Can't really comment on the service other than the delivery drivers, but they've always been prompt and friendly. read more

V made it right! Well, this review WAS gunna be about the unpleasant very dissatisfying experience I had with the employee I was dealing with before "V" the general manager came back and addressed the situation. I just need to say that my parents are immigrants and I'm totally into multiculturalism. Let's celebrate our cultures! The problem and frustration I keep running into is the cultural/language barriers with people in customer service in this country, with English being their 2nd or sometimes 3rd language. Because the gentleman was unable to effectively communicate with me, it caused a whole lot of frustration for both of us. Basically we couldn't understand each other. But rather than focus on that though, I want to commend V for understanding and making my visit much more satisfying. He totally understood my frustration and expressed his apologies. I'll definitely keep being a repeat customer because of him.. and the absolutely YUMMYFRIGGINLICIOUS PIZZA PIES! Round Table is the bomb ass pizza! I've enjoyed it since birth! Hehe! and grew up on it. I used to have my birthday parties there, and also soccer pizza parties, etc... Fun for the whole family! I love round table pizza. Their garlic twists are amazing! But I have experienced much better locations than this one. The garlic twists I have ordered her are pretty inconsistent. Sometimes they are cooked really well, sometimes they are doughy and raw and just gross. I also had a run in with the apparent owner. After my friend paid for our phone order, I decided I wanted a soda. I barely ever have cash, and didn't happen to have the $1.50 in cash the soda was going to cost me, so i tried to pay with my card. At this point, the owner looked at me and pretty rudely said, "you don't have cash?" and I said "uhhhh, I don't think so" and scrambled through my purse to try to find some sort of cash for this rude man. He waited. And waited. And stared. I finally said, "you really can't take my card" and he says, "no." At this point I should have said whatever and walked away but I was craving that soda, so I ended up borrowing money from my friend. You know when you are seriously in the mood for really great pizza...like it's totally gotta satisfy that BAAAAD craving? We ended up at Round Table Pizza on La Mesa Blvd and I'm sooooo glad we did! Specifically this location (8032 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, CA) has the sweetest owner (thank you for the complimentary salad bar) and makes a perfect crust of not being doughy or too thin with the perfect crunch and loaded with toppings!! Toppings mountain high and all the way to the edge!! It was like a pizza lover's dream come true!! And we got to enjoy it sitting in front of a warm toasty fireplace on a cold rainy day!Officially an absolute favorite on my list and they just earned a loyal repeat customer. read more

I've had Round Table Pizza before and love it, just not at this location. This place is filthy. The bathroom looks like it's hardly ever cleaned, no soap to wash our hands (it was only 11am), soda machine was sticky and dirty, same with tables and chairs. The salad bar had a dead moth in the lettuce that my husband brought to their attention. They gave us our money back for that, but didn't replace the lettuce. I wouldn't recommend this location, but recommend Round Table Pizza! read more

This place was very small and kind of old looking, but that is fine if the food is good~ The place gives a great feeling of nostalgia. It was a very good and okay experience at Round Table. The pizza is amazingly tasty and at a reasonable price too. I personally like the Hawaiian pizza, but from the ones I have tried...they have all tasted good! I would recommend this place to anyone who likes pizza! its a nice little place to get some good high quality pizza! I just would not recommend large groups, like more than 4 because they do not have many tables that will accommodate large groups like that, but overall... a nice pizza experience! read more

I love Round Table Pizza. It defies categorization, but with its spicy sauce and crunchy crust, it's one of my favorites. So, why only three stars? For a place this busy, it's crappy that it doesn't have a separate take-out register. I go to the trouble of phoning in my order and I still end up having to wait in line behind every bluehair in La Mesa; nimrods who apparently can't be bothered with looking at a menu until it's their turn to order and have to be shown the difference between thin and thick crust. My Gormet Veggie pizza was very Okay... the toppings were pretty good and the garlic white sauce was tasty, but all the veggies made the pizza a bit soggy. The cardboard-ey crust was not strong enough to support all of the vegetables. The flavors were pretty bland so I added some garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to make the pizza's roasted garlic flavor come out. read more

i have not seen a Round Table Pizza in awhile. The nice one in Chula Vista closed a long time ago and I had good memories of it. The memories are now replaced by this disgusting place. The place has mess all over, tables were all littered. Someone eventually cleared it up and used a toxic chemical cleaner that overwhelmed the whole place. It makes me gag eating. The pizza, a small personal one, was overpriced, took 30minutes to get done, and something was not right about it. I had DIARRHEA! the place looked, smelled, felt filthy! i hope a good owner who cares about customers and sanitation will open one in Chula Vista. read more

Went here for their lunch buffet. It was pretty standard. Unlimited fountain sodas. Salad bar was decent, but they could have used alfalfa sprouts! They had about three different pizzas to choose from, plus breadsticks. Staff was friendly. I think it was about $8.50 each. Overall, not a bad way to carbo load, if that's your goal. read more

Super excited to be back in an area with Round Table Pizza's Found this little gem still serves the PizzaTatoes. Which are like loaded potato skins with pizza toppings. Reminded me of when I was a little girl and used to go to Round Table. Phone order was easy and food was ready on time. Everything was cooked perfectly. Just as I remember it. Staff was friendly and courteous, made sure we had everything we needed before we left. Including plates and napkins. Which was great as we haven't unpacked yet. This is an AMAZING pizza! Round table pizza only one I can eat and not get sick or feel like a rock in my stomach. This particular location is small. The service is OK and that is why it got 4 out 5 stars. I get the Vegetarian pizza and it is so good that I have too remind myself to share. Disappointing. Asked for extra red sauce on a pizza; instead got extra cheese. When I alerted the staff, I was met with a shrug and a half-hearted apology but no offer to correct the mistake. When I asked for extra sauce in a container, I was presented two small containers of COLD sauce. The crust of the pie was very good but wish I could say the same for the toppings. A very limited and unappetizing salad bar. Lame effort, guys! This throwback experience was more Middle Ages than 2019. read more
