This place is better than your typical chinese buffet in terms of selection. They have a very large variety of food that is always hot and tastes pretty good. There was a hibachi section but I did not try it. They offer self serve tub ice cream and soft serve ice cream so there is something for everyone. I particularly like their sushi but they are often low or out of some of the rolls. The price is decent and includes drinks. I was told that this Chinese American buffet was suppose to be better than the ones closer to the city. I was not wowed but was surprised by the amount of people that were here on Monday night. There was a great variety of food. Their sushi was very comparable to something one would get from Dominick's but I guess it's nice that it was an option. I did like the coconut shrimp. It was weird to find that the huge ball of shrimp was comprised of smaller shrimp. Their pink lemonade was also way too sweet. I had to keep diluting it with ice and eventually added water. I was hoping to have lobster but it's only served on the weekend. They did have some snow crab but it looked old. These best part of the meal was the flan and the mint chocolate chip ice cream. I rarely rate a restaurant solely based on services. But this one I do. The service is just horrible. It is messy everywhere, the food counter, sushi station, beverage counter. The floor is dirty, littered with with food, napkins. The most outrage thing to me is that they push the waste cart in the dining area collecting plates and dump leftover food next to you while you are eating. We went there with a baby and the receptionist was busy eating, but she came and asked us to pay upfront and picked any seat we wanted. We then asked for a high chair for our baby, she pointed at the high chairs in the corner: "it's over there", then back to her table to finish her eating. We found a table and brought a high chair by ourselves, then went for food. The plates there were very old and dirty. Food was just ok, but I don't think it worths the price $35 for 2. There were 3 waitresses there, but they all just played with their phones and talked to each other, nobody showed up to clean the plates from our table. I had to bring our dirty plates to cleaning station, dumped the trash and put the plates to the tray, all by myself. We were wondering if this place is self serve because nobody ever showed up to do anything. So we decided we were not going to leave tip for them, since we were the one who served ourselves. Until we were done eating and about to leave, the waitress finally showed up and cleaned some plates left and tried to make a conversation with us in Chinese. We didn't understand her and told her we don't speak Chinese and left. She then chased us to the door and ask us: "no tip? Forgot to tip?". went there after a couple months and people are still animals near the premium seafood area. also, im pretty sure theres some health code violation regarding wet cups stacked on top of each other. also found bits of wet rice in the cups. i usually wash out the cups with hot water, in the tea/coffee area, and swirl it around before i put my soda in it. yeah, that's still pretty gross but i'm thirsty. read more

Went there with the FAM on a Saturday to have dinner it was almost 100 bucks to wait in long lines for food that was not worth the wait. Then to top it all off, I put my own food, my own drink everyone's plates were still piled up on the table but for some reason when we were leaving 2 of the Asian employees came running to the table and asked for a tip, wtf are you serious? Chinese food to die for. The variety is unbelievable. I go for the seafood and stir fry... made to order! The one complaint is that this place is ALWAYS packed ( well that is a testament to the food quality) so be patient when getting your food. The crab and other fresh foods are the first to go so be prepared to fight for it LOL! The sushi bar is also well stocked and unbelievably fresh. As much as I avoid buffets, I've been coming here about once a year for the last four years or so because of invitations to celebrate birthday occasions of friends and relatives. The cooked food is "slightly" above average compared to many other buffets in the Chicagoland area. I avoid the sushi because of questionable preparation practices that I have observed in the past. Today, was an exception because I tried a piece of my brother-in-law's maki. The rice was not good at all. It wasn't even short grain sushi rice. The service is okay at times when they don't whisk your plate from your table while it's still three quarters full and your back is turned or you've stepped away to use the bathroom. However, today was terrible because the waitress had the audacity to ask my mother-in-law (whose birthday we were celebrating) and others at our table if we were going to leave her a tip. We took the high road and tipped her anyway, but told one of the staff to tell her it is impolite to ask for tips. Overall though, the price is reasonable, it's cleaner than most buffets and most of the cooked food is acceptable (nothing really stand out though). read more

Don't let the website fool you, it's not that fancy. The staff was friendly, the food was decent. The stir fry bar was very good. Could not find the crab legs, but many people were eating them. My dinner mate made the observation that only Asian people were eating them. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or if you just had to ask for them. Overall, I would go back. I cannot believe the positive reviews of this place dated 2014. This place has gone downhill over the last 2 years. I remember when this was the place to go when they opened up over 10 years ago but I think new management has taken over. The people who work there now do not understand or speak English or they are simply rude and just do not want to answer your questions. The floors, tables and dishes are dirty. One worker dropped a serving tong and simply picked it up and put it back into the food tray!!! Don't go into the washrooms, it is a nightmare in there. The food is terrible. Most of it is overcooked and flavorless. They destroyed a classic chinese dish of roast duck by mixing it with broccoli. No wonder i do not see any Asian customers there. This has to be the worst place in Dupage County that i have ever dined at. The food is not fresh . The meat dishes had so much chicken skin or fat in place of actual meat. Most dishes tasted like brine there was so much sodium in them. The floors were sticky , dirty and unkept. The tables and decor not kept clean. Forks were bent and broken. Best of all...employee was eatting off the buffet and was spitting it out on floor which sprayed on the food right from her mouth. Witnessed by my adult son. Cost is 15 a head. But what really irritated me today was the waitress had the nerve to ask for a tip as we were leaving even though she never bothered to clear our plates while we were eating. i would said this is the best buffet restaurant in IL. They have more than 250 variety of food and most of them of taste pretty good compare to other buffet. It's the only buffet that serve cheesecake and it's always full after 5 PM. The things that I dislike is their sushi bar. We were supposed to meet at Royal Buffet in Hoffman Estates last night - but due to unforeseen difficulties - we ended up in Woodridge instead. I don't know why I didn't Yelp first - but that's my lesson learned. It's about a third of the size of the other one and definitely less than a third in quality. So - because it was so late, I ate a bit first - then stopped to take a look around. I'm not going to write up paragraphs to describe it all but Ouch! Like others have mentioned - filthy bottles, shakers, floor, etc - filthy. Slow service. On a Friday night - I wasn't even sure if anyone was working the stir fry. I instantly got an upset stomach and went to use the rest room. I can't even describe how bad it was - had I gone in here first, I would not have touched a bit of food. I would have rather gone to a gas station. Last two notes - unlike like Hoffman Estates - there is no alcohol here and two, they still have up their Christmas decorations. If I could give it a 0 I would. This place is horrible. First off almost all good there is so spicy that you can't taste the food you are eating. Probably because when people make things spicy they are covering up the fact that they have substandard meats and fish. The one thing that didn't have spice in it was a cucumber piece that I had. The bathrooms smelled horrible. No toilet paper. Even wen told they pretended not to hear me. They had a sign up that said one if the top 100 buffettsinChicago.......in 2007. By today's standards no wonder that it has been ten years and no award. It really is horrible. Avoid at all costs. It will cost you for a family of 4, close to 80 dollars. My son just had his 8th birthday. All he really wanted was a game for his xbox and to eat at a Chinese buffet. We decided to go to a place we had never been before Royal buffet on 75th st. When we arrived we stood in the lobby and waited for the girl who later told us she was the manager. She wasn't helping any other customers but she wasn't in any hurry to help us. After some time she rang us up for the buffet and after waiting and looking to her for guidance we figured out on our own that we were to seat ourselves and go to the buffet. The food was mostly dried out and of poor quality. My boyfriend although not that picky, had a very hard time finding anything decent to eat. While I was at the buffet finding something for our 1 year old to eat, one of the employees came to our table to clean the soy sauce container. He noticed that my 8 year old's eye glasses had one lens missing. He had broken them and we were waiting for the new pair to be sent. The employee broke in to hysterical laughter and even called another employee of the royal buffet over to our table to point at my son, speak in Chinese and laugh at my son. I saw the exchange as I walked back to the table and asked my boyfriend to clarify what exactly happened. He was shaken and appalled by the employee's actions. He explained and I went to the front to talk to the "manager" I put manager in quotations because she couldn't have been much past 20 and certainly did not handle herself as a "manager" would. She called the offending employee over after I had sat down and they proceeded to laugh while pointing at our table. Now if there was something truly funny about our family I would have laughed with them. I can laugh at myself with no problem, but these people were ridiculous, they ruined my son's birthday and now he doesn't want to go to school tomorrow because he's afraid the kids at school might make fun of him like the people at Royal Buffet did. I have a strong feeling that the rest of the reviews on this site are by employees of the place because none of them are true. Don't come here!! I came with 3 other of my friends. This place deserves to be closed down. I would give it a -5 stars if I could. The Chinese ladies tat busboy the tables are terribly rude and greedy for only money. So no one ever cleaned our tables we always had to put it to the next empty table. They advertise crab, crab legs, and lobster specifically at this downers Grove location but they didn't have either and still charged 15 per person mainly because they were too fuckin cheap to serve it i know they used to have them but not anymore. Then I found out tat they hide their crab legs inside the kitchen only way to get them is to line up against the wall and ask for it. This place is full of cheap ass fuckin people. Dish plates were dirty and some foods were dry looked like it been out for a couple days. I wouldn't be surprised if they had shit in their food considering tat the Chinese man spat in my butter for my crab legs cuz I kept asking for more but isn't it a buffet after all??
