    Chicken Pesto Grinder
    Toshitha J.

I love the sandwiches at Royal Grinders. They look quite simple but are so tasty. My two go to sandwiches are the Chicken Pesto Grinder and the Italian Grinder. The chicken in the pesto sandwich is very juicy and the pesto tastes super fresh. On the other hand the Italian is drier but it has a lot of flavor from the banana peppers, olives, and the light sauce. On a sunny day I enjoy going to Royal Grinders since most of the available seating is outdoors. To avoid waiting a long time for my food to come out usually place my order over the phone so that it's ready for me when I get to the window.

No one would expect to hear this, but Royal Grinders might be one of the best bars in Seattle. Why, you ask? You can get a beer for $2, sit outside, and take in the sights and sounds of Fremont. What's better than that? Now for the food. They have that kind of bread that you want to take a nap inside of. If I need a reliable 8 hours before a big day, I'm grabbing a grinder from RG and using it as a pillow. The outside is criiiiispy, the inside is ultra fluffy, and it's baked with spices inside to take it over the top. Once you've secured bread that is this elite, nothing else matters. You can put funions and tuna (that might actually be good) in between those two clouds and you will get 5 stars from me. But they have a legit lineup of east coast style sandwiches (pastrami, Italian, etc) that have high quality meats and accoutrements. I had the pastrami sandwich and would definitely go back for that again. Would love to try the other menu items though. I also want to go back because I want to be friends with the people that work there. They were incredibly nice to my dog and even gave her ham. They also seem like they would be chill people to hang out with. I'm not sure why people complain about wait times here. Do you not want them to make your sandwich with tender love and care? And saying it's expensive? Have you not eaten anywhere else in Seattle?!

First of all, it smells AMAZING in here!! Jason is so incredibly kind and friendly! Honestly, all the employees were really sweet! We ordered the Chipotle roasted Turkey panini, Italian grinder, and Royal grinder. I ate here with some family. We each got our own sandwiches, so here is a review from each person. Me- *Chipotle roasted Turkey: 5 stars So incredibly delicious! I love sandwiches, like LOVE sandwiches. And I can confidently say that this was the best sandwich I've ever had! So creamy and flavorful!! Fam 1- *Italian grinder: 4.5 stars Really great bread! Wonderful flavorful ingredients! Fam 2- *Royal grinder: 3 stars Wasn't personally a favorite. Great bread and fresh ingredients though! We all had a wonderful experience! Just a warning, the inside is super tiny! Seats exactly 10.

After having had Royal Grinders "bookmarked" for MANY years, I finally checked it off my "to try" list! I wish I had tried it so much sooner! Came to visit on a Saturday around noon. First impression, tiny little hole in the wall. And IYKYK... most hole in the walls tend to be the best "hidden" gems! I was happy to see a counter facing the street with a couple barstools so we could enjoy our sandwiches fresh and hot from the oven! Very limited seating inside, but tons of (uncovered) seating outside (IF it's a nice day!) While we were there, there was a steady buzz of customers. Most of which seemed to be 'called in' orders, and taken to go. Now let's get into it! I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki sandwich. (I don't do veggies so my sandwich was chicken, Swiss, provolone and sauce only). My husband ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. We sat at the bar seating at the window and waited about 10-15 minutes for our sandwiches. They called our name and it was time to feastttt! A good sandwich hinges on the bread! And this bread was to die for! It's fresh, herby .... and that crunch!!! Exactly what I was looking for! The teriyaki sauce, chicken, the oozy cheese and the crunchy bread made for one amazing sandwich!! My husband said his was just as good as I made mine out to be. (I didnt share a bite of mine bc it was too good to give up one bite!) I didn't try his bc it was full of veggies, which is a hard pass for me! But I do love a pesto sandwich! They also make paninis and those look equally delicious!! I'm going to have to come back and try other options! They have a great menu with a variety of sandos! Royal Grinders has a very friendly staff, fast service & AMAZING 'wiches! Don't sleep on this place! It does not disappoint!!!

Amazing sammy. A great sammy and kettle cooked chips works like antidepressants and im feeling a lot better.

Had a great lunch. I've never been to this area before. But stopped downtown. Parking was tough. I also got to see the famous Fremont statue in person of Statue of Lenin and was interesting learning about the history. Great location.

Grilled Cheese Trio w/ bacon, tomato, and pepperoncinis added

We had our sandwiches delivered, so don't know what it's like in person. Got a grilled cheese with bacon, tomato, and pepperoncinis added, an Italian grinder, and a veggie sandwich. I forgot to take a photo of the veggie one, I guess, but it was really messy and just ok. The Italian grinder was good, but I think the fave was the grilled cheese. I wish they had jalapeño instead of pepperoncinis, though! The hot sandwiches arrived hot and everything was reasonably priced.

Great place. When I'm in the mood, they are open (closed M-W which is annoying), and I have enough time to wait, this is my go to for a hot sandwich. They are a bit expensive, but generally worth it for the quality. The courtyard seating is comfortable and charming.

We stumbled across this place while walking around in Fremont and it was a pleasant surprise! These sandwiches were out of this world delicious. The staff was warm, welcoming and friendly. Go grab a grinder if you the chance!!

From that first dish, we knew that this fresh, foraged menu was going to be something different. The rest of the night was one knockout showcase of seasonal farm to table masterpieces to the next. The entire presentation was delivered by attentive wait staff putting on what felt more like a well-rehearsed play with each act starting with a wickedly creative, hand-crafted drink pairing (non alcoholic for us, but you can get wine, cider, or a cocktail) before each course. The whole vibe isn't pretentious or bourgeois; it's grateful. Everyone there including the chefs know there isn't anything like this in the city, much less the state. It was one of the more pleasant restaurant guest audiences I've ever been around too. It felt like all the nice people in the city decided to meet, so this 5-star review is for our fellow diners too. The only thing missing was a moment for the chefs to take a bow at the end, but instead they sneaked out the door, off to wherever superfoodie heroes go after a night of saving palates. #salute.

It definitely piqued my interest and was duly bookmarked. I had an opportunity to check it out with fellow Yelp Elite/IGer, Carol C (3/18/26). I was able to get a last minute reservation confirmed via email. Both of us were able to get zoned street parking along N 45th. This restaurant is also accessible via Metro. We were seated by Tim, the owner, at a two top by the front entrance. He was very welcoming, personable, and charming. An aside, read the background info about how the restaurant came to be from their website and additional cool details about the owner, restaurateur, and author. The interior transformation was pleasant vibe. There were other tables aligned along one wall. The remaining seating were along a banquette. There's also limited seating at the bar towards the back. Great ambiance, however, it does get rather loud once the restaurant fills up, just saying. Wine, of course, is available by the glass or bottle. There are other beverages like beer and NA choices, but no tea/coffee service. Happy hour specials are also available. Tim provided us the low down on the featured daily specials and gave us enough time to peruse the menu. It's one of those menus that had so many pleasing options. We split the Piatto Misto which was a great way to sample various app offerings including fresh burrata, an Italian meatball, sliced prosciutto & other Italian meats, and two bruschettas - tomato and mushroom. We both agreed that the meatball was the standout. Carol chose the Pasta del Giorno which featured farfalle with mushrooms, broccolini, in a cream sauce with added Italian sausage. I selected the Pasta Salsiccia which had linguine with Italian sausage, mushrooms, red pepper flakes, in a tomato cream sauce. Both pasta mains were rich and generous, that the both of us took home halves of our respective entrees to save room for dessert. It was definitely an enjoyable experience and were onsite for nearly 2.5 hours. Well attended to and not rushed. With how costly it can get dining out in Seattle, it's a great to find a place that is easy going, has great variety, and reasonably priced.
