This place is fire. We get the buffet abt once per month and sit down for dinner abt the same. The buffet is excellent and the menu entrees are even better. Embarrassingly, I can't ever recall what we get, but it never fails to impress. Ambience is very unassuming, which is an easy trade for the friendly, courteous staff and quality of offerings. Stopped here for the $15 lunch buffet while in Clarksville. They had: Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Channa Masala, Aloo Gobi, Gulab Jamun, Tandoori Chicken, two kinds of rice, some vegetables, and a few other things. They charge a 3.5% surcharge for using credit cards which wasn't mentioned when I went to pay so you're actually paying $17.12 for that buffet after taxes and the ridiculous surcharge. Restaurants are supposed to absorb this fee for the convenience and increased customer base, but I digress. My favorites were the Tandoori Chicken (messy but delicious), Aloo Gobi, and Channa Masala. The Gulab Jamun did not taste fresh, but that's just my opinion. When I arrived at about 11:30 everything on the buffet seemed relatively new. When I left about 12:30 everything was pretty picked over and it was never refreshed with more food, so get here early if you want decent food from the buffet. It supposedly lasts until 2:30. Staff was friendly but absent when I went to pay and I had to wait a bit for someone to come around. I'm not sure why it gets 5 star reviews. For me, it wasn't worth the price. I dropped in with my toddler for the lunch buffet. I love Indian food but will admit I have never tried an Indian buffet. The Chicken Tikka Masala was wonderful. I could have eaten it with the rice all day. My toddler, who has never tried Indian food, even loved it and another one of the chicken dishes, as well as the naan. His favorite, though, was the butterscotch "milkshake," which was more like a cold, creamy butterscotch drink but not frozen. I had to cut him off on it. I have a hard time finding food in Clarksville that is delicious, well-prepared, and worth the money. This is one of those places that join our list along with Old Glory, Blackhorse, the Mailroom, and Best Pho House. I like that we could add something different to the rotation, and the service is very kind. 5 out of 5 for a small, Indian buffet. read more

Royal Indian, In my opinion, is the best Indian restaurant in Clarksville. I ordered take-out numerous times. My food is consistently hot and fresh. Staff are friendly. The menu is extensive with many Indian food favorites. I am obsessed with Sabji (vegetable) Vindaloo, Bhindi (okra) Masala with medium spice level, and Tandoori Roti (vegan alternative to Naan). Food is cooked to order to ensure freshness. They always say 15-20 mins. but my experience has been 30-45 mins. I don't mind because it is worth the wait. Highly recommend. read more

Really doesn't look like much outside...used to be a Mexican restaurant and they don't have a big sign to attract much attention. This was our second time visiting, but our first time ordering from the menu versus having the buffet for lunch. We were seated promptly. Seating itself was not the most comfortable and because of the way the place was setup before, the booth bench I sat in was farther away from the table than I would have liked...pulling the table closer would have meant pulling it away from my wife and shifting my bench towards the table probably would have upset the people behind me. I really think they should improve this as well as take down the decor from the previous restaurant. When we ordered our drinks, I asked for a water (which is served from a pitcher kept at the table) and a Mango Lassi, but I wanted the Lassi to be brought out with my food...which they did. On to the food...we started off with some Onion Bhajiya and it was absolutely delicious! Not overly battered, but just right to get that crunch from the chickpea batter. I ordered the Chicken Madras in MEDIUM and it certainly had a kick to it, which was what I expected. Very nice blend of spices and herbs to give a lot of depth to the sauce. My wife ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala in MILD and was very happy that it did NOT have any heat. She really enjoyed the dish and commented that it really tasted as if it had been simmering for a long time, time to get all of the flavors going in it. And the Paneer Kulcha! So good!!! We did order a side of Raita in case something was extremely hot, but it never came (more on that later). We were both a little disappointed in the rice, it seemed like it was leftover rice from the buffet and a little moist and clumpy...but the sauces helped with that. I rated this as 5 Stars because of the taste of the sauces...they were just fabulous but... ...when it was time to check out and pay our bill, we were handed one of those Square machines already on the tip screen. I asked them to make sure that the Raita was not on there because we ordered it and never received it so they took it off and gave me the machine back. I paid the tab and then got the receipt showing that we ordered TWO Mango Lassi's, but I only ordered one. Handing the machine this way, I know, is an effort to be as contactless as possible, but I think it would be much better to print a receipt and do this transaction the normal way. This restaurant is a godsend for my Indian husband and myself! We have been starved of quality, authentic Indian food in town and we were driving to Nashville every other weekend or so to have the real deal, now we can get authentic flavorful Indian food down the street from our home! We are thrilled! It is rare that I would view an experience as perfect in every category, but this truly is. I am so impressed at the quality of service, food, and cleanliness especially since they just opened a couple days prior to this review! I'm excited to see how they make over the space into their own style. The staff are so kind and attentive, you can tell they really care about their customers and their food! Updated Review - the chicken tikka masala is a must try! So so good! Garlic naan is fantastic. The chicken pakora appetizer is perfect size for a family and very delicious - sauces super flavorful. The lamb vindaloo is amazing. All of the curry's are delicious! And the Saag Paneer (vegetarian dish) is easily one of the best things there! The meals are served buffet style making it easy to share and have everyone get rice and try different sauces: Great service, clean restaurant, and food so good it never disappoints no matter what you try on the menu! This was my first time eating in, however I have ordered takeout before & it was so good i ended up going back. We started with the Paneer Pakora which was probably my favorite part of the meal. It came with a chutney & tamarind sauce that were both so YUMMY! For my entree I had the Malai Kofta which is a vegetarian dish that has paneer & potato dumplings in a creamy sauce. I got mild for my spice level but I'll probably get medium next time because it wasn't spicy at all. Our server was so informative & attentive throughout the entire meal. Hands down the best Indian restaurant in the entire area. I HIGHLY recommend their lunch buffet if you're looking for a cheaper alternative, and everything is less than spicy, but if you're looking for heat, be sure to ask for Indian spicy levels when you order a specific dish... it will make you sweat. They've 4 levels of spiciness, and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful with explaining menu items. Their tv's often are tuned to Indian cinema; something I've found myself being drawn into. The space is typically very quiet even with a room mostly full. The restaurant is clean, and well maintained, but they've a ways to go in terms of making the venue theirs. I.e. There are reminiscences of an Hispanic restaurant, that feel out of place considering it's now switched ownership and focus towards Indian cuisine. I really appreciate that the restaurant owner is there every time I come, and that his father is such a brilliant and kind chef. Our rating of three stars is based on visiting the noon buffet. Has a reasonable selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections. Some of the best for the saag paneer and a chana (chickpea) chaat that was with the cold relishes. Based on the other reviews, we assume that food from the menu is a bit more outstanding than it was the Buffay. The owners really need to invest in electric warming dishes for the buffet. The sterno-based warming trays simply were not hot enough. We highly recommend that dishes on the buffet be stirred thoroughly before you serve your portion. read more

Omg!! We loved this place! So happy to have another Indian restaurant In Clarksville! So we ordered appetizers- chicken and vegetable samosas, then lamb curry and saag paneer with garlic naan and aloo kulcha(naan). I got Kheer (rice pudding) for dessert. All of it was delicious. Everything came out hot and fast which was surprising because other Indian restaurants usually took 30-45 mins to come out even on slow days. The Service was excellent. The food was delicious and hot. My favorite, butter chicken was on the menu that day. It seems like a small buffet with maybe 8-9 dishes but they were all tasty. It changes daily and I'm looking forward to trying different foods in the future. There were a few dishes I didn't know so I asked the waiter and he was very nice and informative. The price was great at $15 a person and $8 for children, my 1 year old was free of charge. We visited for dinner on a Wednesday night. There was plenty of seating, but I don't expect that to last long once word gets out about how delicious and fresh the food is at this place! We ordered from the menu and everything, from the appetizer (aloo gobi) to the 4 different dinner dishes (hot butter chicken, mild chicken tikka masala, medium lamb vindaloo, mild lamb biryani) and two different naan's, was so incredibly flavorful! The portions were humongous; I was able to eat on my lamb biryani for 3 meals! The floor was incredibly sticky; I'm not sure if there was a spill or old flooring adhesive, but it didn't feel great to walk on. Otherwise, everything seemed clean. Service was great! Been here one time so far. I'm not familiar with Indian food so I can't speak on the authenticity, but I can share my experience. First, the service left a lot to be desired. Waiter wasn't rude, but took a very long time for him to come to our table and take the order. Probably sat there for ten minutes before we were greeted. The food I thought was really good. I have a taste for spicy food so I got the spicy version of the plate I tried. My understanding is that you can request different spice levels on all dishes, which is pretty neat I think. I tried one bite of my friends chicken tikka masala and I had the chicken madras. Both dishes had great flavor and the chicken was tender and seasoned well. They also have a very unique menu. They have everything from chicken to sea food to goat. Portions are generous and the rice (if you order a dish that comes with it) is in its own bowl so you can mix it the way you want with other parts of your meal.
