Reading the low and high reviews here, this is ALL you need to know about this place: Royal Wok is a spot specializing in KOREAN-CHINESE cuisine. This is different from the typical Chinese, American-Chinese, Sichuanese or Cantonese dishes most Americans are fond of. As such, if you come here expecting orange chicken, lo mein or chicken fried rice you're bound for disappointment. Whereas if you come for jjajangmyeon, jjampong or tangsuyuk you'll have a good time. Yes, they have a lot on their menu but these guys know how to do certain dishes especially well. The store owners are Chinese immigrants with Korean ancestry. Here's my experience at Royal wok. Upon entering I was greeted by the sweetest O'l lady ever. Place was pretty clean, no strange smells or anything bad, Menu has a variety of different dishes. I landed on some chicken and rice (cant remember what exactly it was) but it's similar to orange chicken. To be honest I wasn't expecting much being that it was my first time. But I was genuinely impressed with the quality of the food, The chicken was crispy and tender on the outside. But very soft and delicious on the inside. It literally just melted in my mouth with every bite, even the Eggroll was crispy but soft and full of flavor on the inside, the lady was very attentive thru out the time I was here. Once I was done I was surprised that my total only came out to about $13!!! Walking out I was surprised that I didn't feel Heavy Full I was more satisfied full. Compared to panda express where a bowl would have me feeling regretting my life choices, Royal wok was definitely a good overall experience. 100/10 definitely recommend checking out this hidden gem. Also I recommend dining in that take out. Food is definitely better straight out of the kitchen. I will definitely be coming back more often. read more

I don't normally write reviews and only write reviews when I have a really really terrible experience. I blindly trusted the reviews and I will say take this as a warning... I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch special and I took two bites of the beef and one bite of the rice and threw it away. I can stomach a subpar meal just so I have something for lunch but this was so bad I could not finish it. The beef looks discolored and the sauce was sour, almost like it was spoiled or had been sitting out for too long. The rice smelled like rice that had been out for too long, which is not safe and a big food safety issue. The food did not taste fresh, which I can manage, but it tasted spoiled. I ended up having stomach cramps 30 minutes afterwards. This was the type of bad meal you'd ask for a refund for, very disgusting and upsetting. The cabbage in the egg roll had a tangy off-putting taste that I would like to believe is just their way of seasoning their egg rolls and not because the pungent odor of the cabbage which is similar to the smell of rotten cabbage. read more

I was at my hotel at like 11 o'clock and I wanted to I was craving some Chinese food. Saw that this place offered vegan options given my new diet/experiment . I just had to have some noodles. The vegetable lo mein was amazing. 10/10 Added tofu! Vegetable egg rolls were delicious 10/10 The reason for the four stars is because of the service it was a little bit slow in terms of delivery time. It's tucked away in a corner towards the back of the plaza so you could easily pass by it. Service alone, 10/10. The staff was so friendly and kind - it might possibly be one of the best services I have experienced and they make me want to come back whenever I'm in Dallas. Besides the service, the food was delicious. Sometimes one is just in the mood for some jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk. This combo alone is satisfying and what would be my usual order when I'm craving Korean-Chinese food. We had a bigger party of 5 so we also ordered fried rice, fried chicken, and wontons. I've never been to a Korean/Chinese fusion restaurant but I'm all here for it! There should be a Royal Wok in every city! Definitely a hole-in-a-wall type restaurant, the charm of the workers and great customer service was great! And if you're reading this and not Asian or don't speak Korean - don't be afraid of coming here, I saw a table of elderly Caucasian folks who looked to be regulars- they ordered some of the best dishes to have here! We had the black bean noodles - a must get! A great huge portion which you can definitely share. If you have trouble cutting the noodles before consuming - don't be afraid to ask for help. Sweet and sour pork - crisp to perfection - sauce on the side is the way to go so your pork doesn't get soggy fast! Garlic fried chicken - my favorite dish here, excellent crisp, great tasting, great portion! There was other dishes that were ordered but I stuck with the basics above. We went here because of the reviews but I guess this was an off night because this was not good at all, the chicken fried rice was scarce of the boiled flavorless chicken, the rice part was good, hard pass on the beef lo mein the noodles were over cooked and sloppy, I don't know what kind of sauce that was but no thank you. the wonton broth was good but the wonton itself taste like it was old and those stale pretzel like chips instead of crispy wonton chips were so bad, I will definitely not be going back. read more

When I first moved to the area during the pandemic, this was one of the only spots that was consistently open and provided really comforting Chinese food. I've loved coming here for a quick take out meal and the service is very friendly and fast too. I haven't eaten in the restaurant yet, I mainly use Royal Wok for takeout and they have done a great job over the years! It's good value for your money as well. read more

The people are always friendly here, and the food is great. Ask for the brown rice or the fried rice, it's a lot better for you than the white rice. Their hot and sour soup is really good. This place has been here so long that lots and lots of people order ahead of time, and just come in and pick up their food and go home and eat. read more

This unassuming place serves some killer black bean noodle (jjajangmyeon). Service is also very prompt and courteous. Their price is also very reasonable! We ordered the jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and had so many leftovers. Do check their hours before you go there as they're closed on certain days of the month. read more

Was staying in the area a few weeks ago and ordered from here via Uber Eats. I used to live in Chinatown Philadelphia so my standards for Asian cuisine are pretty high. I ordered my typical go to of General Tao's & dumplings steamed and fried. The restaurant nailed the flavor and everything was cooked perfectly. Food is really good for the price. It's actually really cheap in my opinion for the quality of food you get. I did not get to try much but I ordered the jajangmyeon, crab wontons, egg drop soup, and hot and sour soup to go. The crab wontons and soups were standard. I did like the egg drop soup more as the hot and sour one was too thick and not sour enough for me. The jajangmyeon was really good though. Definitely one of the better jajangmyeon dish I had in the area. All of it together was around $21 before tip. The lady who was helping me was very sweet. I cannot speak for the service other than that since I took my food to go. Overall, I would come back and order again. read more

I have been going to this place since I moved to the States - 4th grade. FOOD// There are so many options; so, I have not tried them all. However, I have had most of the major ones here from jjajangmyun to their specialty dishes. There jjajangmyun is always good, but three flavor brown bean sauce noodle (H21) has been my new addiction recently. The texture of the noodles and the depth of the sauce has been PERFECTION. Also, I usually order either tangsooyook or mat-tang, but Mat-tang is too good to miss out every time. It is a fried sweet potato and it literally is the best thing. Other dishes, I will keep it open for yall to let other yelpers know, but they're all are pretty good! SERVICE// I love the lady from the beginning; so, it's always good to see her every time. The sauce they make is addicting and had little pieces of ginger and oranges inside. The shrimp lo mein was yummy but there was so much more add one than seemingly noodles. I went to this restaurant at lunch to order takeout. The service was pretty good and the food came out quickly. I ordered the lunch special with beef and snow peas and a side of hot and sour soup. The prices were reasonable. Portions were large however the quality was low. The beef and snow peas were okay but low quality, but the fried rice was bland and had no egg or vegetables. The egg roll was flavorless, greasy and after one bite I did not finish it. The hot and sour soup is extremely disappointing if you really love good soup. It was very gelatinous and was neither spicy or sour. There were also some crispy chips that were stale. They might have some better dishes, but based if you are looking for good Chinese takeout this is not the place to find it. read more

Established in 1990.

Before this restaurant, we were partial owners of Stemmons Wok and before that Ying Chinese Restaurant in Lewisville. The master chef and owner of Royal Wok has worked as a chef for most his life at one restaurant or another and now owns this one. It's a family business and we've been here for quite a while. The owner and his wife are here 7 days a week from open to close. The only day a year they take off is on Thanksgiving. All the chefs are Chinese which helps keep the food authentic and we intend on keeping it that way.

Meet the Business Owner: Tung T.

Master Chef and father of 2 Amercianized children. Worked all his life as a chef and is here more than any other employee. Great father and possibly the hardest working man on Earth.

Food Malaysian Roti- (2 pc, 9.5$)- 9.5/10 Was perfectly flaky and crispy. Came with a flavorful curry dipping sauce. Chili Garlic Edamame- (8$)- 7/10 Everything you would expect. However, it could have more of the chili garlic sauce. They do give you a complementary tray of spicy sauces (including chili oil), so this was not a big deal. Korean Twice Fried Wings- (5 for 14$)- 10/10 Wings were large, so one was the perfect appetizer for a single person. Coated in a heavenly gochujang garlic glaze. Nice and saucy while still being very crispy and juicy. Was my favorite dish we ordered. Pad Thai- (16.5$)- 8.5/10 Came with a fried egg, shrimp, and chicken. Had a hint of spice that elevated it from good to great. Curry Laksa Ramen- (16$)- 9/10 Very flavorful curry broth. Noodles were excellent and also came with tofu and a boiled egg. Overall, every aspect of the resturant was top tier. Would 100% recommend if you are near.

The viet braised pork belly is way better and softer. Still a solid spot. Some dishes hit and miss. Our group has our go to dishes. Next time maybe I'll try the Dan Dan noodles.

First, I ordered the Chinese Fried Chicken (half), which is supposed to be brined in soy and hoisin, then deep fried in a light batter. This chicken was no more brined than a rock in the desert, and it was just as dry, even the dark meat pieces. The steamed rice was fine, as was the beautiful bok choy. The dish, overall was a huge disappointment. The chicken lo mein was also a letdown, as it had an underlying sweetness that I've never experienced with this dish. Two bites were taken and it (along with the chicken) ended up in the hotel trash can. A couple of positives: I enjoyed the hot & sour soup, and the egg rolls tasted as if they were rolled in-house, which is a rarity these days. I live a few hundred miles down the road and don't get to downtown Dallas very often, so the odds of me patronizing this place again is already slim. But, in the event I find myself here in the future, I will avoid this restaurant.
