Definitely found some delicious Thai food at Royal Yum. The menu was full of dishes to choose from it was hard to narrow it down. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ordered so much. I loved the concept of the curry sampler. They had so many different options and I'm glad we got to try a couple of them. Each curry was good. Full of flavor and loads of chicken and veggies. I loved the crab fried rice. The sweet pieces of crab went perfectly with the savory fried rice. My nephew loved everything they put on the table but he inhaled the popcorn chicken and the curry sampler. Customer service was great and all our questions were answered. The parking and getting to the restaurant was a little difficult due to construction. Royal Yum 801 Sunset St Denton, TX 76201 (Review 41 in 2025 and 884 overall)

Had a very tasty lunch at Royal YUM! The lunch special came w choice of soup or salad. I chose soup which was the right choice. I always thought egg drop soup was good but boring and bland. Not the case here. Very flavorful w a touch of spice! My entree was delicious as well. I would definitely come back to try their pho.

Visited from out of town and wanted a quick lunch. What drew me to the place were the positive reviews and the photos of the food. However, I was very disappointed. I'm almost certain they use can curry paste. My first taste of the curry, tasted like the Massaman curry I make at home. The waiter asked what spice level and I ordered medium and my brother ordered the highest spice level and it didn't have any heat to it, which makes me further believe it's not custom made. My beef on the Pad Thai was overcooked and very tough, I regretted getting that as my protein. The hot peanut butter dressing was very strange and made the salad heavy since it was really thick. The egg roll tasted store bought. The sweet sauce that comes with the egg rolls and the appetizer did not complement the food. Nothing was really outstanding besides the crispy basil chicken. I love that they put the rice in a cat mold, it makes it fun and does set them apart from a lot of other places. The three flavor chicken was good, the chicken was still very moist and had a flavorful sauce to it. Service was attentive and we always had our waters filled. The price point for lunch is reasonable for the amount of food. Our food came out fairly quick. The restaurant was very clean and roomy. I personally would not recommend this place as I feel there's likely much better Thai out there. The restaurant seemed like it had its regulars, which is great.

I was very impressed! The location has fun, welcoming decor and a good ampunt of space. Our server was exceptional, very friendly and attentive. We ordered a couple ofappetizers for the table, and we highly recommend the wanton nachos. It sounds odd, but tastes great! I got a tofu dish with peanut sauce and it was very good! Everyone loved what they ordered, which is always nice. I thought that the kitty-shaped rice was a great little touch, so cute! We'll definitely be returning!

Best Thai food I've had since I've been in Texas! They don't watch the front door very well. Takes a minute before they noticed you walked in, but once seated the service is great.

Really wanted Thai for dinner and usually order from Thai Square. Finding parking is alway challenging for Thia Square, so decided to order from Royal YUM. With the street Sunset being under construction parking in the business area across might be necessary. Sukiyaki Stir-Fry Noodles with chicken was ordered and it was a delicious dish.

My wife and I decided to try this place for our anniversary dinner. We really enjoyed the service and the speed of our food was great. Plus the food was amazing at a great price. We came in around four so it wasn't too busy. The place was real nice with calming music.

Great tasting food. The kids and I shared the lettuce wraps, Thai dumplings, orange chicken and Thai fried rice. It was all delicious, especially the lettuce wraps. I am going back soon because it was so good. Service was great too. Very attentive. Only thing I was a little disappointed in is they chill their Cabernet Sauvignon. It's suppose to be served room temp. But that's ok, the food and service is worth going back.

Good food but way too expensive. They need to lower prices if they want to last here.

For me, it leaned a little too quiet, but it did make the whole experience feel slow-paced and intentional instead of rushed. The space itself is cute and thoughtfully put together, simple without trying too hard. Service matched that energy--easy and natural. We were helped by both staff members throughout the meal, and they were kind, efficient, and attentive without hovering. The vegetarian egg rolls were crispy and solid, but the real star was the house sweet & sour sauce. I'm still thinking about it. It's that good. The green bean app was another win--crispy, flavorful, and super snackable. I personally would've loved a little more sauce, but that's a small thing. The Volcano Catfish (2/5 spice) absolutely delivered. Huge portion, perfectly cooked, and everything on the plate worked together. The fried rice soaked up all the flavor and held its own. This is the dish that makes the price make sense. The Pad Thai with chicken (1/5 spice) was a sleeper hit. Once you add the lime and mix everything together, it really opens up--bright, balanced, and surprisingly good. Only note for me--the chicken wasn't my favorite. Not bad, just not my preference. I'd order it again with shrimp next time (my husband thought the chicken was good). Overall, nothing felt rushed, nothing was missed--just a really solid dinner. Would I come back? Yes. Would I come back specifically for that sauce? Immediately.

Step 4: Name every roll after either a volcano, a ninja, or an apocalypse. Komodo Loco apparently looked at that formula and said, "Nah." This place has actual character. The restaurant is dark and cool without feeling like you're being interrogated. There are cozy little nooks everywhere, and somehow it manages to feel both laid-back and upscale. Like if a speakeasy and a sushi restaurant had a child who grew up with excellent taste. Then the food arrived. Look, I've had plenty of sushi. I've had good sushi. I've had "my friend won't stop talking about this sushi" sushi. Komodo Loco belongs in the last category. The fish was incredibly fresh, but what really stood out was that the rolls didn't all taste like slight variations of spicy mayo negotiating with cream cheese. The flavors were genuinely original. We ordered the Crispy Rice Bites, the T-Dub Roll, and the Horacio Roll based on our server's recommendations. The Crispy Rice Bites were so good I briefly considered ordering a second round before I had finished the first. The T-Dub Roll disappeared from the plate so quickly that I suspect it may have violated several laws of physics. The Horacio Roll was one of those dishes that makes you stop talking mid-sentence and stare into the middle distance while reconsidering every life choice that led you to not order two of them. Which brings me to our server: Breann. Or Breanna. I apologize for not knowing which one. In my defense, I was busy entering a committed relationship with sushi. My daughter is moving to Denton, and since we don't live here, we asked what we should order. Breann/Breanna immediately became the Gandalf of menu navigation. There was no hesitation. No "everything is good." No vague server diplomacy. Just confident recommendations that absolutely delivered. She was kind, funny, helpful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. More importantly, she made my daughter feel at home in a city she's about to call home. As a dad, that meant a lot. I also loved how Komodo Loco celebrated Pride Month. Not because restaurants have to weigh in on everything, but because the atmosphere simply communicated: "Hey, you're welcome here." And honestly, that's one of the best things a restaurant can do. Good food fills your stomach. A welcoming place fills the room. Komodo Loco managed to do both. So yes, I'll be back every time I'm in Denton. My daughter thinks she's moving here for school. I think she's moving here so I'll have an excuse to eat at Komodo Loco several times a year. One of us is probably right.

It wasn't very busy at the time, but our drinks still took about ten minutes to arrive. We started with potstickers, which were delicious, and our little one's avocado came out quickly, which we appreciated. However, after placing our order, we noticed several tables seated after us receiving their food before we did. At one point, we were concerned our order may have been overlooked. When the food finally arrived, it was very good--no complaints there--but the wait was a bit disappointing, especially since most of what we ordered were appetizers. Overall, we'd still come back, just hoping for a smoother experience next time.
