The food is fresh, flavorful, authentic, & generous in serving size. Service is very kind and attentive. Restaurant is very clean and large capacity. Be careful on spice level though. If your tolerance is low, like me, go for a level one. Husband and I will be frequent customers! Everything on the wide variety menu sounds amazing, and we look forward to trying it all. I've been looking for a Thai place that serves amazing drunken noodles. I've been very disappointed in the past. Not anymore. The drunken noodles here were soooo good! The kids' options are also great. My son has been begging for us to come back. We had great service too which isn't something one always gets at a Thai place. We will definitely be back. read more

That being said, whenever a restaurant really excels in its service, I think recognition is in order. The serving staff was kind, understanding, and observant. I really felt like they cared about the guest being taken care of. This is not only my favorite Thai restaurant in Denton, it's my favorite restaurant PERIOD. Everything about this place is amazing, from the delicious food to the great staff! The ambiance is nice and comfortable and it's a great place to dine in alone, with friends or on a date. Some friends and I went on their opening day and we've been back a few times since and everything we've tried has been delicious and fresh, they really hit all the marks. read more

Had the three flavor chicken and Tom tum chicken soup and spring rolls and goyza a dumpling with chicken. Everything came out hot and fresh and quickly. The waitress, manager and owner all asked us frequently if the food was good and if we needed anything. The music was hits from the 60's and 70's and was nice to hear what we grew up listening to!! Phenomenal food quality with over the top broths and am sauces made from scratch. Everything I've tasted this far has been overwhelming deliciousness. And every time we have attended Royal Yum, the owner has come to our table to ask us how we liked the food and do we need anything? Such great service!!! The food was just okay, especially for the price. Very overpriced for the portions received. The orange chicken portions were extremely small and garnished with orange slices which made the dish look nice, but the food is missing. Also, the orange chicken was soggy. The flavor was okay, just okay. The to go portions in the combination fried rice were small compared to the pineapple fried rice, which does not come with a half pineapple for to go orders. It would have been nice to know I would not receive a half pineapple prior to placing my order! Something positive: The restaurant appeared neat and clean and the owner was nice. read more

The hubby and I went for a late dinner. What a treat. We started out with the Bang bang shrimp oh my I could have eaten a dozen of those yum. I had the Tom kha soup amazingly delicious. (only complaint the meat was too chewy) I just put it aside but the noodles in that broth made up for it. My hubby had the fried rice with chicken 5 times spicy he loved it. He loves spicy food. We waited 45 minutes at the restaurant for our takeout order after we placed the order 30 minutes prior to leaving our house to retrieve it. Yikes. I understand a busy kitchen, and dont mind waiting a bit longer for excellent food, but the wait was unfortunately not worth it for us. If you are not familiar with authentic Thai, Chinese, or Vietnamese cuisine, this place is acceptable. If you are, then you may be disappointed. The curry was really watery and bland, the pad thai seemed to have been made with an excess amount of bottled sweet Thai chile sauce and didn't include lime wedges on the side. The fried Thai chicken was so thin that it was tough and chewy. Thai Ocha and Taan definitely have this place beat if you prefer complex flavors, a balance of sweet with salt and acid, and a thick coconut richness in your curries. If you are just beginning your adventure into such cuisines, this is a safe place to start. read more

Never ordering from here again. I had called and asked for takeout and ended up waiting over and hour. I checked my phone and the guy that was delivering my food didn't even bring it to the right location and did not try to call or anything since he couldn't find me. Instead he just dropped it off wherever and said he completed the order. Well i called this place and told them about it, and they were treating me like it was my fault, so finally i just asked for a refund because no way am i paying for food that i don't even get to eat. read more

Food is very good! We all enjoyed it. I took my kids here and we were very impressed with the food. I had a Curry sampler where you get to try 3 different ones. First time I'd seen this as an option anywhere and of course I had to. Green curry level 4 fantastic red curry also. Pineapple curry I decide not my bag but was still good. Ambiance is a Denton hole in the wall. Which is fine. Service was not bueno. They acted short staffed but wasn't busy that night. Seemed more likely to step on each other. Our main Waitress did ok, everything was slow to from getting sat down to getting drinks to getting out. One of the waitress's was exceptionally rude. Brought me a drink and asked if I'd like a straw. I said yes she sighed rolled her eyes and walked away (because she didn't think to bring one). As she did so I just said never mind I'm good. Decided to wait a few days to decide if it was worth mentioning. I'd go back for food and to see if service is better if not then I probably won't make a third attempt. read more

Excellent pad Thai (no spice). My husband had pineapple curry, said it fine but not special and spice level of 2 felt more like a 5. A friend said the same thing about spice level, so seems like they need to adjust. There were lights above the table but they weren't on. I needed more light to read the menu. Excellent food . They're growing in popularity which is good for them but will require additional staff. On our last visit, it was clear that they were understaffed which caused some confusion and errors in to go meals. Relatively large portions with great flavors. I highly recommend Royal YUM as Denton's newest Thai restaurant. I believe them to be on par with Oriental Garden when Pong owned and operated it. read more

We ordered from Royal yum for delivery. We did not eat in so I cannot speak to the ambiance. We were very hungry by the time the food arrived (it took 1.5 hours- no clue what the hold up was) but the food was still warm. We ordered the chicken satay, Beijing duck, and the chicken lettuce wraps. The chicken satay was the best tasting thing we received and it was just okay. On the up side the chicken was tender and lemony (I happen to like lemon a lot). However the peanut sauce was overwhelmingly sweet and nothing else stood out about it. Unfortunately this level of sweetness was the same in each of the other dish's sauces. No complexity in seasonings could be tasted everything was just sweet. I am surprised this restaurant had a 4.9 rating on Grubhub as there are much better (and more reasonably priced) Thai restaurants in Denton. Overall, it was a disappointing birthday meal for me. read more
