Just went to the new one on San Pedro. I had the chilaquiles plate. The refried beans are mediocre, potatoes were ok, and the chilaquiles were good minus the government cheese they put on there. Their tortillas are huge! Their known for their "texas sized" tacos. Maybe I'll get one of those to go next time. The inside was clean, but they wipe their tables off with fabuloso which I'm allergic to. So I left quickly with sneezing and now my nose is stopped up. I'll get tacos to go next time. read more

We went in today for lunch and expected it to be good but I hate to say it but the place looked ROUGH and I had a bad feeling about it. Anyway, a family member recommended it so we decided to try it. BIG MISTAKE!! As soon as we walked in nobody greeted us and the place STANK like Fabuloso cleaning soap, which I smelt the whole time we were eating. GROSS! Then it took a while for us to get noticed by one of the waitresses but she seemed nice. Anyway the food was ok and the tacos were big but once we wanted to pay our bill is when they became RUDE and not making any sense. They basically wanted to charge us more for the tacos and we asked why?? The menus they gave us had those prices. She kept saying the menus were wrong to look at this board by the register where the new prices were. WHAT?? We didn't sit by the register we sat at the back and had those menus. Why do places (especially taquerias like this) change prices at the register and then act like your the crook?? REALLY! By this point all the waitresses were involved because they were closing inside and one of them (the owners daughter, she claimed) started laughing at us for wanting our correct change back. That it was only .24 cents! WTF! IT's not about the money it is about charging correctly and that is why they don't want people to ask for a receipt and they can charge whatever!! People BEWARE!! They are ghetto and don't care what people think and they WILL RIP YOU OFF if you let them! We won't ever go back!! read more

Roy's has been my go to taco place for several years. Their Breakfast tacos are the best. On weekends my favorite are the Grande barbacoa tacos with guacamole. Even their Chico tacos are fairly big and the fresh tortillas are stuffed with whatever you want. Bacon & egg, bean & cheese, and potato & egg are very good as well as their other selections. Taco prices are a little higher than other competing restaurants but you get alot of food and very delicious. Just don't be surprised if you have to wait in the drive thru lane especially in the mornings and weekends, they usually have an employee outside taking orders before you arrive at the window, but it's worth the wait. read more

RUDE.....RUDE.....RUDE!!!! Went to drive thru this morning! The female at the window was sooo RUDE!! As we are giving her our order, she starts talking to someone in the kitchen(without apologizing)she Asked us to move forward waited 10 minutes, then she came and asked us to move around the corner, by this time we asked where was our order and she came off as if we were bothering her!!! We moved out in the street and once the car exited, we reversed back and waited another 5 minutes!!! She came to the car and just about threw our order to us. Been going there when Roy & Linda were the actual owners, then sold it to these Jokesters! STAY AWAY!!! Theres other taco places just a good or even better! Taking my business elsewhere! Very good taco place! Tortillas are huge and homemade, which is a big plus. One taco is plenty unless you can eat a lot. My husband got the chorizo and papas and the barbacoa and guacamole which was very good. They seasoned the papas well. The barbacoa was very tender. The only complaint was that there was no enough filling for how big the tortillas are but other than that they are really good tacos. And they are cheap which is a plus! read more

Live close by so started coming here food is pretty good. But tortillas on the thick side and worst is the customer service. Once the person who takes orders threw drive threw was something rude stood their at my window never said hi how can I help what do you want to order and after I told her my order she walked away. And when you go inside most of the time it's so hard to pay. No one wants to come to the register to help. They don't greet you. We flew in from MI & this was my family's first stop after leaving the airport. Our car rental guy recommended this place. Not a great intro to San Antonio food for my family. Not the food I remember from my youth. The carne guisada was good but the chorizo con huevo barely had any chorizo in it & tasted weird. The tortillas were huge but lacked in flavor. We had to buy extra chips, $4 for about 20 chips. I'm used to free chips refills. I don't know if I'd give it another try. Service was good. read more

I've been going to the place a while now at least twice a week, food is o k, compared to other places. But this time I was ripped of on my order charged me $10.00 for a crispy taco plate with an extra taco only they never gave me the extra taco. Pretty much no way to get my taco or money back. This place used to be so damn good but with all the new owners that have come and gone they have ran this place to the ground. The food sucks now. After 3 years of not going by I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by for breakfast. The girl at the window was rude and unprofessional, she didn't great us or thank us for stopping by like the old staff would, she seemed like she didn't want to be there and she shouldn't be working in customer service if she's going to have an attitude like that. We are obsessed with Roy's! My boyfriend is picky, which is annoying, so it makes it hard to find a place that we can both agree on where we love the food. This is one of those places. The portions are huge, even on the regular tacos. I mean, c'mon, the Roy's special has 2 enchiladas, carne guisada, a crispy taco, a chalupa, rice and beans and it's like $8! We can literally both share that one plate and we are both big guys. If we are both really hungry we may order an extra taco on the side but even if we do that we still almost always have food leftover to take home. The guisada is in my top ten in SA. The enchiladas are Tex- Mex awesomeness! Fresh huge tortillas. They're busy so be prepared to wait and then eat in a loud tiny little place. They do have a drive thru so that is convenient if you need tacos to go. A west side gem in SA! Come to think of it, this may be breakfast in the morning! read more

Was in the area picking up auction items. So I asked the person at the auction where he would go for lunch and Roy's was recommended. I the Texas sized chicken asada tacos and was impressed. The value and flavor will have me coming back whenever I pass through San Antonio again. Texas size tacos are almost the length of the plate. So, order one, eat it.
