I usually have a decent experience but this time someone made my burrito with no care to the point where I couldn't even eat it as a burrito. It was completely busted open and it wasn't because it T was too big it was because it ripped and they didn't care enough to make it again. Perfectly adequate place for lunch. I come here with coworkers during lunch breaks, especially on sunny days so we can enjoy a meal on the patio. I've found the food at all Rubio's locations to be of consistently good quality. I really like how they list the nutritional information on the menu now (oh the dreaded calorie counting...). I recently tried the chicken street tacos - they were pretty good but not nearly in the same ballpark with the fish tacos. I also like to try their season options - next time I'll get the fried shrimp burrito. Pricing is super affordable here. This location was also recently remodeled and they keep it very clean. Run far away from this place although this is America, you are free to do what you like, but I will warn you shopping at this location will be expensive. Let me explain I went to Rubio's and as I entered, I heard customers that were seated eating their food complaining about it not having no flavor and the food being cold. Just by hearing that I should've turned around and walk away, but I wanted to give Rubio's a try since The last time I had Rubio's was when I was a kid. As I got home I ate my food and just as the customers stated no seasoning and bland. The next morning I woke up and had $160 missing from my account that was charged by DoorDash. I look at my transaction and Rubio's was the only place I use my card in a one week time frame. If it happens to, you don't bother calling the store as I did to speak to the manager, only to have her accuse me of blaming the employees. She even went as far to State that it's been happening for a while and that I wasn't the only person that got my information stolen which got me to believe that nothing has been done. It's a Rubio's so don't get too excited. Olivia Z. and I were going by and remembered that it was Fish Taco Tuesday night with $1.50 tacos. So, we stopped in for a few. The surprising thing about the tacos that did get me excited is that they were huge. Seriously. Each taco was like twice the size of the one at the place across the street from my office. How is that possible at a chain restaurant? I don't know either? I tried one taco with a corn tortilla and one with a flour tortilla. Corn feels more traditional, but the flour tasted like the perfect match for the Lime, Cabbage, and creamy Sauce. Other nice things about this Rubio's were the cleanliness, large seating area, super cool guy taking our order, free parking, and a well-kept Salsa Bar. If I'm in the area, there is no reason I wouldn't quickly come back to Rubio's on Sepulveda for fish tacos on a Tuesday evening. read more

Satisfying seafood options made fresh when you order. The beer batter fish burrito is my menu option of preference. The staff is superb and will prepare your food to order. The tables are nice and clean most of the time. Even though the place gets crowded during the lunchtime most of the time this place is doable especially if you work in the area. It's fine any other time of day. If you just happen to be driving by and decide to stop, parking is limited and a challenge because it's shared by a number of businesses. But being the wonderful driver that you are, you'll make it work and there's overflow parking further back. read more

Rubios, oh Rubios. It's basic Mexican food with a Baja Californian twist. There's really nothing special except for two things. 1. The salsa bar is delightful, and offers a wide range of sauces to dress up a bland meal. 2. The supreme fish tacos are pretty good. The service is generally good considering all employees are friendly and strive to make your experience at least likable. However, friendly staff can only take a restaurant so far. It took a looong time to make my order, which was a shrimp & bacon burrito. It wasn't a busy day. After 15 minutes, I finally inquired as to what was going on. It was only then that they started it, and it was complete in a few minutes. I asked why it took so long. The woman at the counter said "we're short a few people." No attempt to make up for the long wait, no apology - she seemed to barely care. I will keep this experience in mind the next time I consider eating here. Customer service is definitely lacking. My first visit to a Rubio's, just ordering fish tacos. I don't think it was asking too much to discuss the difference between taco choices. Once my order was complete, I sat and watched as 4 workers stood and carried on a full conversation for almost 5 minutes before the rude cashier decided to put my food in a bag and push it across the counter to indicate that I could pick it up. I was seated at one of the bar stools across the room. Every employee had the same "whatever" low mumbling voice, with the exception of their full conversation with each other. Oh well. This is has to be the best Mexican food we have ever had. Far more delicious and healthy-feeling than other chains and non chain restaurants. We had a burrito especial and chicken tacos, and drank mango lime juice and lemonade. It was all so delicious... we even tried to mix the 2 drinks and a new delicious flavor came up. I was staying across the street at the Aloft hotel and placed an online order. The order was ready within a minute of my arrival. Unfortunately, none of the customizations I had selected made it into the order. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they were very friendly and understanding and quickly had me on my way with the right order and then some. As for the food, it was great. One of my favorite things is the lobster burrito. Too bad you can only get it from Oct to Dec. I got it once this season and it was still good times. Overall, not my first choice for fine Mexican dining but sometimes I will get a craving for one of their burritos. They really skimp on the chips when you get the combo. The tacos doesn't taste authentic enough without all the sauce and nicely marinated carne or seafood. It taste rather plane jane and adding all the sauces that's available in the sauce bar hardly makes a dent on the blandness of the food. :/ But if I had to go to Rubio's to grab some lunch, I opt for Steak Baja Grill Burrito. Taste wise its okay, not great. I had better. An OK Little Place to Get Quick-Service Mexican Food. I needed a quick bite, that was somewhat healthier than fast-food. I ordered their Cabo Plate ($11.49), which came with their Original Fish Taco, Classic Grilled Shrimp Burrito, pinto beans, and chips. Their taco was voted #1 Fish Taco in California by USA Today's Readers' Poll Best of 2018. It is a sustainable, Wild Alaska Pollock, beer-battered by hand and cooked to a crisp, topped with white sauce, mild salsa, and cabbage, and served on a warm, stone-ground corn tortilla. While I could taste the flavors that led to Rubio's winning best fish taco in California, I have to say it was muted. The taco just needed more white sauce and salsa to bring it to life. The Grilled Shrimp Burrito is a sustainable, grilled shrimp, with "no-fried" pinto beans (a company trademark), cheese, Mexican rice, salsa fresca, creamy chipotle sauce, and served on a warm flour tortilla with tortilla chips. Again, there was a lot of rice (which I address later) and not enough flavor--which should have been bursting through the tortilla with the way they built it. Luckily, the restaurant has a great salsa bar where you can load up your meal with additional deliciousness, which is what I did. I also ordered a large side of Mexican rice ($1.89) and that too lacked flavor (which seemed to be a recurring theme). Overall, it was OK. Cannot get over the fact that how good their original fish taco plate (has special secret sauce) is. This place is close to both my husband and my office and we love to go for lunch and grab some of those amazing tacos. They also have variety of healthy lunch options if you like to stick to healthy stuff. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and it is pretty close to most of the office;s in the area. They have great selection of salsas and sauces, my favorite is the green salsa- I love how great it tastes with the tortilla chips they have in their plate. The original fish taco plate comes with a side of beans and chips, I always replace my side of pinto beans with black beans. As long as they keep serving those amazing tacos, I will keep coming here :) read more

This was our second having takeout here. This time we had Langostino Lobster Bowl with mahi mahi & grilled veggies, Chipotle Orange Salad with chicken & grilled veggies. There is a $2 off Yelp check-in coupon for the Langostino Lobster Bowl! The whole meal was $28. Sadly we devoured the whole thing with no picture evidence... The Langostino Lobster Bowl, surprisingly had more lobster meats than we expected. There were black beans, romaine with fresh guacamole, salsa fresca, creamy chipotle sauce and two warm flour tortillas. We added Mahi Mahi to this one, there were big chunks of them for $3.80 extra. The salad was very fresh and filling. There were mandarin oranges, fire-roasted corn, red chiles, avocado slices, black beans, tortilla strips on mixed greens. I love their food, and been going there pretty often but they messed up my order 3 times already and now I am not sure if I wanna go back there again. First two times they put bacon on my food even thou the order said no bacon. The first time I didn't see it until I got home. So I couldn't do anything about it but give my food to someone who eats bacon. Second time, they put bacon and thank god I checked it when I got to my car. So I went back and they remade it. Today, 09/26/20, I ordered 4 burritos; two different shrimp burritos and one steak and one chicken. They were labeled different. Steak was labeled as shrimp. We had to open all the burritos to figure out which one is which. It's very disappointing esp when they weren't busy when I ordered my food and even went in to pay and pick it up. I always have to ask them hey can you make sure you guys didn't put bacon on my food. So annoying! Update: my brother who ate the shrimp tacos vomit so much an hour after eating the burrito. I usually come here on Tuesday nights for taco Tuesday (original fish tacos for $1.75 each after 2pm) & I get the original fish tacos with the flour tortilla. I think the flour tortilla puts the cherry on top! Such a great price for these tacos. They're pretty darn filling! On Friday's, my company caters food and today we chose Rubio's! We ordered the deluxe taco bar menu which came with choice of salad and dessert. We ordered the chipotle salad & dessert box. We also chose the battered fish (of course) plus chicken as our proteins. Their catering came with everything we needed to enjoy the meal! Half and half flour & corn tortillas, salsas of choice, guac, chips, salsa fresca. The dessert box we had came with lemon coconut bars, fudge brownies, & churros. We were surprised that the desserts were actually decent coming from rubios. This easily fed about 7 people and can definitely feed 10 because we had a lot leftover. Also, the food came earlier than expected which was great customer service on their end! We're usually held back 30 min because our food never gets delivered on time, but rubios did not disappoint! We will probably be ordering from here again. read more

The Humanity... The only reason this place gets 2 stars, is for the awesome service I got. The food is awesome, I do love me a salmon burrito. But damn do I feel raped after I pay for it. This place is interesting, as for some reason they built it RIGHT NEXT DOOR to another FISH TACO place. Really Rubios? I might have to try that place next door. The wait staff over there looked a whole lot nicer. So whats the deal with a 10min wait for my Burrito when im the only one there? SERIOUS? Excellent food with EXCELLENT service. I always come here for the best salmon tacos in town. The last time I was here, I had an issue with some tacos missing from my to-go order. I called to let the store know, and Amy told me that they would be glad to take care of it next time I stopped in. More than fair. WELL, about a week later I found the missing tacos behind the console of my truck. I called the store and apologized for the mixup. Amy said NOT TO WORRY, and that the next time I came in, they would still honor replacing my missing tacos, even though I was the one that misplaced them. SURE ENOUGH, today when I stopped in for my salmon taco fix, Amy honored her promise. This is why Rubio's is the successful enterprise that it is. .... The BEST salmon tacos.
