Tucked away but a great spot. Always fresh food. Not as expensive as sit down, much much much better quality than fast food. One of my favorite spots for a good meal.

    Let's salsa!

There is something very very Fishy about this place.... About this review... And I think... You're gonna Love it!!! O.k. maybe I'm a little bias due to my addiction(s), but I just can't quit and trust me I've tried. The Bar As a struggling addict, the last place I want to be is here, alone, just staring at the temptations behind the bar... But then I remember that I've been good. I've been on the up and up so I convince myself it's ok... Just one or two isn't gonna get me into trouble... But I was wrong!! As I sat at my table shaking, nearly sweating from the decision I just made, I decided that I already fell off the wagon so why stop there... And Back to the SALSA BAR I went!! That's right! Put any Salsa Bar in front of me and all my inhibitions go right out the window. It's like I just black out and go wild. The song from LMFAO comes on and all of a sudden I'm doin' shots, shots, shots, SHOTS, SHOTS Everybody! of whatever mild, salsa picante or tomatillo salsa that I can get my little hands on. Yeah it's that bad! Pico is like crack to me. Green salsa, Red Salsa, Roasted Salsa... Hell, I don't care if it's purple! Just pour it as fast as you can and get it inside my body! And as for my other vice... Don't get me started on my other addiction: TACOS!!! Yeah, Rubio's fish tacos hits hard and this last visit, I definitely relapsed. I went with their Coastal Trio; a taco flight of their most popular tacos: -The O.G. Fried beer battered Fish Taco -A Salsa Verde Shrimp Taco -And a wild-caught mahi mahi taco. Damn... it had me feelin' like I was straight out of Baja. This and a side of their Mexican Rice & No-Fried pinto beans and my fix was finally satisfied! Located right off the CA 111 in Palm Desert... If you're looking for fresh fish smack dab in the middle of the desert... (don't worry, it's fresh!) I say Rubio's is your best bet. O.k... I'm finally ready for my intervention. Hi, my name is Lance L. and I'm a Tacoholic. Now, take me to the salsa bar & let's tacobout it!!!!

First off all the service here is fantastic. The two servers we interacted with were polite, attentive, accommodating, and efficient. The food was great. I had the taco trio which was great. However the Mexican street corn was out of this world amazing. Some of the best I have had in a long time. It did not take long before the bowl was sadly empty. Reflecting on it about 3 hours later I still want more. The inside was pleasant and nicely decorated. It has been a year since we ate here, but for the life of me I don't know why. I definitely want to come back next week and just order the street corn.

Going out to eat is expensive these days, especially with a family of 6. I am always looking for a good deal. If I can avoid McDonald's, yeah! To me Rubios is healthier fast food but they are pricier. I have the app for most of the major fat food restaurant. I go where the deals are. I got an email that I have a BOGO entree with the app. This Rubios is of Hwy 111 in Palm Desert. It is tucked away in the corner. It looks relatively new. Problem is, after I took a picture of the outside, I tripped over the curb. It's kinda dangerous right there. The inside of Rubios is clean and has an upscale vibe. There was only one person in front of us. Service was impeccable. The gentlemen who took my order was very patient. I had to do 2 orders since my husband was coming in later. He mentioned that there was a survey at the bottom of receipt to get a free drink or dessert with a purchase. What a great tip. The BOGO offer on the app allowed me to get 2 trio steak tacos for 11.99. That was a very good deal! The tacos were loaded and tasted fine. Are they the best tacos are there, no. I do like their salsa bar. So many choices. My husband got the street taco elotes and he really likes it and will get it again.

Was looking for a taco joint for Taco Tuesday & was on a budget bc I'm out of town. Walked a mile from my hotel and found this lovely restaurant. And all I can say is .. my poor tacos + corn didn't stand a chance.

If you want to enjoy Rubio's go to La Quinta or Palm Springs. I just left there and the girl called Ana took my order and completely ignored when I told her I was allergic to dairy. They made another plate completely tasteless and when I complained they were laughing. I got a third order still with no seasoning but burnt. If you have any type of allergy stay away from this place!

My dog he was served as a fish taco there rip His name's fish

Fish Tacos From Rubio's are a favorite of mine But since This year there fish tacos have depleted turning into soggy messes of fish The workers are all teenagers and I understand they try there best but there was nobody else there when I ordered and there was 3-5 workers on shift food took forever to come... They served us chips While we waited they where stale and they Made us pay extra for the second serving without notice Would not recommend works are lazy bad food and more.

Our group started out with the above mentioned Pulpo Chicharrones. Crispy Octopus bites served with fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, and flour tortilla chips. The octopus had a charred crispy exterior that gave way to a buttery-tender interior. None of the rubbery texture that so often turns people off. For entrees, we selected the Whole Fried Huachinango (Red Snapper), 7 Oceanas (think "Spanish Chioppino"), and Pan Seared Halibut which was the special of the day. The halibut special featured a very generous pan seared filet on a bed of white wine risotto with a sesame seed veloute and asparagus. The 7 Oceanas consisted of perfectly cooked octopus, white fish, clams, mussels, shrimp, salmon, and scallop in a rich broth with tomato, onion, garlic, smoked paprika, oregano, and guajillo peppers. Served with housemade telera bread sticks to sop up the amazing broth. The snapper was deep fried to perfection leaving the skin super crispy and fleah moist and flaky. Drizzled with an adobo sauce and served with grilled sliced lemons, chayote squash and baby potatoes. Our only complaint was the snapper was not true red snapper as advertised, but rather porgy (we think). Red snapper is one of the most substituted fish and very few people in the world could tell them apart. My partner Ernie is a connoisseur, and he can. The dish was still excellent, we just wish it wasn't advertised as Huachinango. This hidden gem delivered fresh seafood, tasty cocktails with a nod to tequila and mezcal drinks crafted by owner Marco Castellanos, and friendly attentive service from Gina.

Three large pieces of fish and potato wedges, everything fresh, also instead of coleslaw we were able substitute for a $1 more a small Cesar side salad. The dressing was good, very tasty. My daughter ordered off the regular menu, she got the Hawaiian Combo. This has salmon, mahi-mahi and grilled shrimp, teriyaki sauce and grilled pineapple, with sweet potato fries and a Cesar's salad, as her sides. She said everything was very good, except the shrimp was a little overcooked. We also ordered a side of cheese garlic bread, which was fresh and tasty, did not disappoint! We have been to the Palm Springs location as well, a few years back and we remember that location also having good food and we were closer to this location so we decided to give it a try. Palm Desert retail is below while Palm Springs is right next door. Both have access to restaurants and retail. This location has a decent size dining room and a pretty big covered patio that wraps around. At first we thought that we would have to check in with the hostess for a seat at the bar but found out that we didn't as someone else just walked right up. It was the start of happy hour which was the reason for the visit. Just wanted a drink and maybe a light bite. There was 2 seats that were available at the bar which was perfect timing as when we got seated, a few other people walked in but ended up just ordering drinks while waiting for a seat to open up. Happy hours from 3-5 which I feel like loads of people come for it. They offer a couple dollars off of starters, wine and beer. For small bites, 5.00 sliders and 6.00 fish tacos. Limited but a little discount on the starters. We had a glass of wine which was 4.00 off with the HH. Of course with that, something to munch on was needed. Clearly they're known for the coconut shrimp starters which we were informed by the bartender. And from the looks of it, pretty much everyone sitting there had an order. Which was a given for us to get. It came with five shrimp, decent size with a nice glaze sauce and adorned with coleslaw which was quite tasty. Definitely worth it. And the sliders, one each. Wow, I'm not much of a burger person but they were tasty. Cooked perfectly, the meat was juicy and served pretty simple with grilled onions, sauce, a slice of cheese and a slice of pickle on top of the bun. Simple yet very tasty and flavorful. The service was great at the bar. Gentlemen taking care of use was sweet and quite friendly. Seemed like it's a local and regular hangout as he seemed to know everyone sitting there. The wine was tasty and the bites were great. Coconut shrimp was a hit as well as the sliders which I do recommend. Even on a Monday right at 3, the bar area was pretty packed already. Today's lunch with family and friends was especially frustrating, and everyone left unhappy. The kids' sliders were burnt on both ends, and the chicken was overcooked and even contained a long hair. We were served appetizers without any plates and had to get up and ask for them ourselves. We also ordered three appetizers, but only two arrived. When we asked about the missing appetizer, we were told it would come out later because the other family in our party had ordered it. That explanation made no sense. Appetizers should be served together regardless of which members of the party ordered them. To make matters worse, when we requested separate checks, we were told the restaurant could not accommodate that request. We have dined here many times in the past and have never had an issue receiving separate checks, so this was surprising and frustrating. The waiter just gave us the option to split the check evenly on two cards which is not helpful since one family spent far less than the other. Apparently the food could be separated by family, but the bill could not. Service throughout the meal was poor. We were never offered additional cocktails or soft drink refills until we had already finished eating. Dirty plates sat on the table for an extended period of time, attracting multiple flies and creating an unpleasant dining experience. It's disappointing because this restaurant was once one of our favorites, but after two consecutive poor experiences, we're finding it difficult to justify returning.

They surprised her with her favorite tiramisu and a candle which completely made her night. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Porta Via offers a perfect setting right in the heart of El Paseo's high-end shopping district. The…read morerestaurant is beautifully designed, featuring a welcoming, open-air flow that perfectly captures the desert aesthetic. It clearly caters to a sophisticated crowd--very similar in vibe to their Calabasas location. While parking is accessible in the rear, it can get congested during peak season. The menu is extensive with plenty of excellent selections, though the pricing is definitely premium. For instance, a Cobb salad topped with fish can easily exceed $45; while the quality is high, that's a significant jump over nearby staples like Daily Grill. Service was friendly but lacked consistency; our server disappeared mid-meal without a hand-off, requiring us to flag down other staff. Overall, it's a bright, airy, and stylish spot well worth a visit, provided you're prepared for the 'luxury' price point.

Our server was absolutely busting his butt trying to cover the entire dining room. He told us someone had called out, and it showed. He was taking orders, tending bar, running food, and doing everything he could to keep up. At one point, I even saw the cook dropping off food. We waited over an hour for a very simple breakfast. To make matters worse, their coffee machine wasn't working during brunch, which is kind of a wild miss. I ended up going to the bakery next door just to get coffee. The whole time, there was no manager in sight helping the staff or addressing the situation. I can only hope they were out trying to buy a coffee machine at Target. The bigger issue is that this doesn't feel like a one-off. I've dined here three times in the last two years, and every time I come in expecting it to be slow because staffing and service seem to be an ongoing problem. On a prior visit dining in the evening we were sat upstairs in what appeared to be in cheap event furniture they had rented last minute because they were over sold for the night. At least that is what our server shared and also noted staffing is an issue because the manager is trying to save money. Management really needs to get a handle on that, because the staff that do show up are clearly trying. A couple of notes on the space too: the oversized chairs in the dining room feel unnecessary for the size of the tables, and the tacky soundproof panels do nothing for the aesthetic. The panel nearest our table even looked like it had food splatter on it, which didn't exactly elevate the brunch vibe. Overall, Shorebird has strong food and a nice setting, but the management and operational issues keep dragging the experience down.
