The food. We had two lobster burritos and a soda. $40, plus tip. Yummy! Felt a bit steep, given it was more avocado than lobster, and it was still very good. I even give their chips a nod, because they are pretty good. The salsa bar is great and they keep it clean. On the topic of clean, they do well. I scanned the floors, tables, and common food areas with no worries, all clean and tidy. Service was ok. The girl that was working the front didn't seem to notice there two of us waiting. She was stapling bags for pickup, giving out the pickups, and cleaning. Funny how "be right there" or "I will be with you in a moment" makes a huge difference. It appeared that she would continue walking past us, so I asked if we could order. This part felt awkward. I would have simply left, since there are other great places for a quick bite, but we wanted to try the burrito. (again, it was yummy) I will be back, for certain. I am writing to formally share feedback regarding a very disappointing customer service experience at your Rubio's location. Our order was prepared incorrectly, and when we politely brought the mistake to the employees' attention, the response made it seem as though correcting the restaurant's mistake was an inconvenience. We were not demanding or disrespectful; we simply expected our order to be corrected. We also politely requested a fountain drink instead of the apple juice that was provided. The juice was completely unopened, yet we were told that it could not be taken back because we had "touched it." Again, what should have been a simple customer request turned into an issue and made us feel as though every reasonable request was a hassle. What was most disappointing, however, was the interaction with the manager, Diana/Diane. Before leaving, I attempted to respectfully communicate my concerns. Instead of acknowledging our frustration or attempting to resolve the situation, she responded by saying that I "just seemed like I'm not happy" and asked, "What will make you happy since you seem like you're just not a happy person?" What made this interaction even more inappropriate was that these comments were made in front of other customers. Being spoken to in that manner publicly was embarrassing, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. I was attempting to explain why we were frustrated, not create a confrontation. As a manager, I would expect her to understand how to appropriately handle a dissatisfied customer, particularly when the frustration was caused by an incorrect order and difficulty getting it corrected. A customer expressing legitimate frustration should not be personally characterized as an "unhappy person." That response felt dismissive and made us feel as though our concerns were not valid and that we were somehow the problem for asking the restaurant to correct its own mistakes. I want to be clear that I am not submitting this complaint simply because our order was wrong. Mistakes happen, and we understand that. What was upsetting was the attitude and manner in which those mistakes were handled. When something goes wrong, good customer service means listening to the customer, acknowledging the mistake, and making a reasonable effort to resolve it. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. From the incorrect food, to the difficulty with simply requesting a fountain drink instead of an unopened apple juice, to the manager's response when I tried to express my concerns, the entire interaction left us feeling unwelcome and as though our business was an inconvenience. I would appreciate it if corporate management would review this incident and address these customer service concerns with the employees and management team involved. In particular, I believe the manager's response and the fact that she made personal comments toward a customer in front of other customers should be taken seriously. Customers should be able to respectfully bring a concern to management without being belittled, dismissed, or made to feel embarrassed publicly. We chose Rubio's expecting a positive experience, and unfortunately, we left feeling very disappointed. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used as an opportunity to reinforce the level of professionalism and customer service that Rubio's expects from its employees and management. I am a regular Rubios customer and enjoy Tuesday fish tacos. I just relocated from San Diego the home to the original Rubios! I had my first visit to Rubios in Palm Spring on East Ramon. I m very disappointed with shrunken tacos! Have no idea when this happened but I see a product that was once a great product now a disappointment!!! Maybe this is then Tuesday version. Visited Rubios grill soon after landing in Palm Springs and was hungry and it was delicious! The fish tacos were good as always with good portion or fish in the tacos and cooked perfectly as usual! The service was good and welcoming and the ambiance was your typical Rubio's with plenty of seating and food drinks! Definitely a good ideal place for lunch! read more

It takes about 15 minutes to get your food but once you get the food, it's hot fresh and delicious the Mexican street corn is just amazing. I wish the portion was a little bit larger for the size. Lastly, they have great customer service and try to do their best to serve you well. The dine in area is large and a lot of people like to have their meal there and enjoy the salsa bar. read more

Prices up and meat quality is really low. About $6 per taco and mostly all tortilla. If you aren't getting the fish tacos I recommend not ordering tacos with meat and shrimp. read more

I am a Rubios regular. I've noticed a downgrade in the quality of the fish tacos. The corn tortillas are served under cooked and cold and the fish portions seem small and overcooked! Almost Iike they were using up the crumbly pieces at the bottom of the container. The beans and chips were good so I have hope that that poor tacos were an anomaly! read more

The fish and chips were absolutely horrible. I literally got about 2 tablespoons of coleslaw and maybe one and a half tablespoons of tartar sauce. The fries were the best part service was friendly and accommodating restaurant was very busy yet. Very clean probably will not be back at least not for fish and chips. read more

My wife loves the mahi mahi burrito, but last night we decided to try the fish and chips. The amount of salt on the fries made them inedible, the batter on the fish was also extremely salty! The food was more like "chips and fish" because there couldn't have been more than 4 ounces of fish In each meal...the batter was thicker than the fish! We'll stick to the burritos! read more

Pretty good experience overall. The customer service was excellent, with the ladies behind the counter being particularly courteous and attentive. The food was good, and the portions were generous, except a little short in the chicken department of my nachos. But overall filling. The street corn was delicious!!! However, I did have one major concern that affected my overall impression of the place. The ceilings seem quite dirty, which unfortunately gave the restaurant a less-than-clean feel. It's a shame because the food and service are great, but management really needs to address the ceiling panels to enhance the overall atmosphere. Mainly around the vents, just kept staring up at them and wondering if they are servicing those vents or ever clean around them. If they can improve the cleanliness in that area, I would definitely consider returning for another meal. For now, I'm giving it a solid four stars but I am confident they will work on those things and gain another star from me! read more

This is the 3rd time my daughter has ordered Fish n Chips. We have noticed that each time the fish portions have become smaller! This Rubios is located in a great spot. It has really good outdoor dining space. Inside there are plenty of seating. I ordered ahead on the Rubios App. I made 3 separate orders to maximize my coupons on the app. The only real problem I had was customizing the orders. I got really confused with this. I've ordered take out from many places before but this one is the hardest to customize. The restaurant called me while I was on my way to make sure I had placed all 3 orders. When I came inside the place was busy at 5pm. They had my order on a shelf and ready to go. The guy at the register was super nice and friendly. He remembered that he called me and my name. He was superb! I got my salad and realized I requested the lettuce to be left out. I mean that app is so bad. I owned up to my error but he gave me the lettuce, mango salsa and avocado that I accidentally requested to be removed. The staff were all great. The mango salmon salad was good. We were beyond amazed by this team of four (Jason the manager, the chef, 2 host) Jason was beyond phenomenal over the phone and in person, Jason sets the bar very high, in hospitality! We visited just before closing, Thursdays July, 24th! I hope Jason and his team of four during our visit are recognized, for the care, help, time and the amazing food they cooked and provided! We absolutely love our Rubios in Palm Springs! We rarely eat fast foods but do eat here and take out a lot as well..The food is always delicious, hot, fresh, well prepared and HEALTHY FOR YOU! I LOVE EVERYONE THAT WORKS THERE TOO! They have the personal touch and always remember you and make you feel welcomed back every time. Our favourite dish is the basic fish tacos platter and we never get tired of them, they are so delish. Some of the best I have had anywhere! Healthy-ish Cali Mexi, a really good option near the PS airport. Of course, made famous in San Diego for their fish tacos. They have, but it's just one of the standards among chicken, beef, carnitas, veggie in all the forms. I had the Cilantro-Lime Quinoa Bowl with Shrimp [$12.99, 4.5 stars] and it was delicious with lots of variety and textures. They do have some unique bowls and salads compared to other similar chains, and it was clean and a nice experience at this location. I always grab the classic Shrimp Burrito. It's filled with shrimp, never leaving you to wonder where all the meat is. It tastes good as is, but I always go overboard with their self serve salsa on the side. You can go ham with cilantro and lime. The entree gives you chips on the side. BUT if you take the survey that's part of your receipt you can either choose a free drink or ANY dessert. Which is insane by the way. I LOVE their blondie toffee brownies. You need their chipotle salsa in your life, that flavor is one of the reasons I come back when I'm in the mood for Mexican food. Even when their dining room is filled, it's still enjoyable to eat inside. Pretty well maintained with everything in the store. Now about the employees their newest team manager, Jason, is a much needed addition. He was extremely sweet, friendly, patient and an all star team player. He talked to customers both during the transactions and to check up on them during their meal. So uncalled for in terms of service, I was blown away. He was so personable, he even got to cleaning tables and checking on stirring the pumped juice drinks as the pulp was settling. Sebastian who seemed to be a cook, was also very nice. When Jason had a question with redeeming our survey code, he helped in. He didn't give off the normal food service vibe of "what now" he was actually very helpful and friendly as well. Worst experience I've had there ever. Unfortunately not only was my order incorrect bur the food is off as well. I ordered chicken and it tastes like fish. Upon leaving my bag broke and not a single employee offered to help. I had even asked for an additional bag before i left bc i could tell it was over stuffed, was denied and then the bag ripped. Just got home with a takeout order. We said no beans in one of the burritos. Well, what did I open? A burrito with tons of rice and beans, and I then had to look for the meat! I didn't eat it!! Rice and beans on the side were ok. Out of the 4 burritos we ordered no one was happy. I ended up cooking something for me at home. Defeated the purpose of not wanting to cook tonight. This was my first time and absolutely the last time ever eating there. My friends apologized because they recommended the restaurant, and they were not impressed by it today. Worst rubios I've ever had at this location. Not sure if the employees don't give a shit because ownership is allegedly changing? Ordered a steak bowl and a shrimp CA bowl. Got two chicken bowls after waiting for 15 mins. Chicken was hard as a rock. Rice was old, all clumped together. Tasted like it sat out all day. At one point I didn't know what I was chewing- texture was like wet tan bark- but wow it was bad. Will not be returning unless management really does something about this. My wife and I went here for lunch today; it was the first time we had been to a Rubio's location. The wife had a chopped salad, which was very large, and I had a burrito especial with grilled chicken. For what is essentially fast food, the burrito was pretty good and tasted fresh. I was definitely full after I finished eating. The service during our visit was blazing fast -- our food almost made it to the table before we did. I like the salsa bar, which provides an opportunity to sample different salsas before settling on a favorite -- which, for me, was the chipotle salsa. They also offer a small selection of bottled beer, which always pairs nicely with spicy Mexican food. read more

I'm not certain if this place is technically fast food or not, I know it's clearly a chain as I used to go here in San Diego on campus at UCSD often... but at the end of the day, some of the best fish tacos I've had, reasonably priced and tasty. I definitely get cravings for this place which is not common for me, particularly for affordable chain restaurants. Enjoyed this location. Side note: Saw a few trucks with flags posted on the beds and got nervous... thinking oh no... nearby Palm Desert is awfully conservative... are those... ... but no, they were Mexican national flags, I was relieved, and they were listening to music and hanging out in the lot, friendly and chill.
