we just went again last night...about 1/2 through the meal my husband and I looked at each other and commented that the fish tacos were exceptionally delicious! We've been eating at Rubio's for years...so this seemed odd. After we were finished we spoke with the manager - he told us that they were using fresh fish and breading it themselves. We went to one in Lancaster and that store made us question the brand. But we are very happy we ate here. The restaurant is very clean and the kitchen looks clean and efficient. The salsa bar looked clean and maintained and well stocked. The people here are very pleasant and easy to talk to. We ate in and enjoyed it so much that we bought three more tacos to go. Came yesterday to use my e-gift card. Christine was at the register. Unfortunately, there was a problem with their register and my e-card, and Christine did her best to get it resolved. After many attempts she asked a gentleman (manager maybe) for help. After several more attempts it finally went through. One of my favorite places. This Rubios location has to be the cleanest, friendliest, most proactive staff I've seen. They work wonderfully together and give out a warm family like feeling. You can see they all love their job. Great management makes the world of difference! If you see this Maria thank you love the plate you recommended ill be in soon. Ive never seen a manager do so many task while i was eating she honestly shows her workers what it is to be a team. I even seen her know a customer's order by herat. Every time I come to Rubios it is very plain to see that this restaurant is above most fast food restaurants. Very clean, fresh ingredients and consistent quality each time. I love the fact that the kitchen is visible, and looks very hygienic. Really reassures germaphobes like myself. Warning!!! I was served a rancid shrimp verde taco and have been sick for 2 days. I am writing this review on my ipad from my bathroom as I have been here for the past two days after eating a salsa verde shrimp taco. Now I love Rubios and this is a first for me, but it only takes one time to get a person sick! Now I have been on a strict diet for the past six weeks and know for a fact that I didn't get food poisoning from any other source as all of the food I have had in the past 15 days has been home made and everyone in my family, including my 1 year old has eaten exactly what I have eaten over the past two weeks. Decided to treat ourselves to a little fast food. Kids got the quesadilla, wife got the chicken burrito, and I got the salsa verde shrimp tacos... Well lets just say they don't call them verde for nothing. I am writing this review to hopefully let management and prospective consumers know that serious considerations need to be made when preparing shellfish. None of which were obviously made this week. Clean it up Rubios! Not sure if these are a franchises and if this particular owner is trying to save a buck by letting things age, but this shit is unacceptable! I lost a day at work already! Yesterday was the first time I ate at Rubios, and I have to say I was not disappointed. The food was fresh, and delicious. I got the chipotle ranch salad. The spinach was crisp and the chicken was great. I loved the salsa bar too. The prices are pretty good for the amount of food that you get. I will have to eat here more often. read more

However I have to say my favorite was the original fish taco,it was not greasy,nice crunch to stand up to all the garnishes and so addicting. Thanks to Myke and Lindsa(e)y, I am now part of the Taco Tuesday crew (wait a minute that just sounds...uh..right). Why Tuesday? Because after 2:30pm fish tacos are $1.25 (regularly priced at $ 2.69?). Per Lindsa(e)y's suggestion, I ordered mine on flour tortillas. Simple: battered fish, some cabbage, a mild salsa, white sauce and a slice of lime. The place is clean and there is outside seating (it's a crime to eat indoors in So Cal on a sunny day). DO NOT ORDER ONLINE directly from this restaurant. I decided to give them another chance since everything is getting a little more normalized with the shutdowns and delivery, I never have problems with the Rubio's in University Village, and I got a few coupon codes for ordering online. I received cold food even though I am only 10 minutes from the restaurant. Thought, hey that was during the dinner rush so maybe not their fault. This last time I ordered at 7:30 p.m. so not likely they are busy and no traffic. Again I got cold food. I am only 10 minutes from the restaurant but my order arrived 30 minutes after it was picked up. Clearly the Doordash drivers that Rubio's uses when you order directly through Rubio's website are picking up other orders and de-prioritizing Rubio's orders (even though I always tip 20%). I can't believe Rubio's thinks this is acceptable. BTW, never got my refund for the order in my original review either. read more

The food is usually delicious. Unfortunately today I had to wait 30 min for a couple of fish tacos. A lot of people were waiting. You would think with that wait the food would be at least warm. The tortilla was cold. It was ripping it was tearing and difficultt to eat. The food is a little pricey for this kind of service. The cashier and the Manager were very slow while the cooks were running around trying to catch up. They didnt know who ordered what and while some waited too long other orders were made twice. Just ordered the gourmet shrimp taco and a regular fish taco w/beans & chips. The flavor was good, but my food was served cold. The fish was over cooked and the beans were barely warm. I did not return my food because I do not trust sending food back to the kitchen. I will give Rubios one more chance another day, maybe they will get it right the next time. read more

Always really awesome customer service and DELICIOUS food. You are always greeted when first walking in and said goodbye to when you walk out. The food is made to order as well, I believe. This being said, expect a bit of a longer wait than your normal fast food restaurant. This would be my only complaint, you can expect to wait an extra 15 minutes for your food. read more

Oh rubios !!!! How I never thought I would be leaving you one of these nasty reviews. I LOVE rubios! My younger sister got me hooked to this place and I've been going on a weekly basis with my bf. We are big fans of the classic shrimp burrito. But what's very upsetting is that I feel that because we were probably the last clients of the night, we got all the leftovers. Which sucks because rubios isn't cheap. A burrito is basically ten bucks. Between my bf and I we easily spend 35 bucks just to eat casual food. But the quality is so good we always go back. HOWEVER, I placed our order over the phone at about 8:25 and this places closes at 9. So we get there at about 8:40 we get our food and we are on our way home. As soon as we get home I took a bite of the chips, they were so stale it was upsetting. But the WORST part was the burritos. So the classic shrimp burrito has cheese & chipotle which is my favorite and our burritos had no cheese nor chipotle!!! Our burritos were just filled with beans and a lot and I mean a lot of pico de gallo and cold shrimp. I was so upset and it hurt my heart to leave this review because I never thought I would ever be upset with rubios but for 20 bucks for two burritos that had basically nothing but beans and shrimp I was pretty pissed. I paid good money and I got such bad food. So upset! Every customer should be treated the same no matter if they are the last ones for the night. read more
