Stopped to try out Ruby Garden Asian cuisine. They serve a combination of Vietnam and Chinese cuisine. They were just about to close in 15 mins so we ordered two dishes to go and they were great. The associate even asked how soon we would eat our Togo order as travel time will change the quality of the noodles. I've never had that happen, and it impressed me. The food was great and we will be back. Michael C. - Georgetown, Tx.

    07. Wonton Soup
    Courtney B.

I've been sick for nearly two whole weeks (yes, WEEEEKS)! I loathe this time of the year when The Things go to their camps and bring cotties back with them (rant over). So, this means that GrubHub, Uber Eats, and take-out have been fueling my household. Wonton Soup A steaming bowl of wonton soup is the starter for a stir fry or any flavorful Chinese dish. Wonton soup is a staple of Chinese cuisine with tender wontons in a seasoned chicken broth. Wontons are like an Asian equivalent of ravioli or tortellini with a tender dough folded around a spiced meat mixture. The wontons in this soup are filled with ground pork, as it has lots of flavor and a hearty texture. Beef & Broccoli Beef and broccoli, aka tender strips of steak and crisp broccoli florets in a rich brown sauce, is a popular Chinese restaurant dish. The dish presented here is made with flank steak that has been tenderized with a baking soda solution and marinated. This allows the meat to soak in the brown sauce as opposed to sitting a top of it. The portion offered is filling, cooked thoroughly, and flavorful. Eggroll The eggrolls here are crisp and filled with cooked pork, cabbage, and carrots. The eggrolls were an ideal mix of meat and vegetables. Overall, this was a good take-out meal. If one is seeking a fine dining experience, this isn't it.

    92. Sesame Chicken

I ordered takeout and got the orange beef and sesame chicken. Both dishes were flavorful. The chicken was cooked well and juicy .The orange beef stood out with its crispiness and sweetness, making it an enjoyable food. Additionally, the crab rangoon was remarkably tasty, adding to the overall satisfaction of the meal. I recommend dining here, whether for a meal in or takeout.

    Pho Tai Bo Vien

I got the pho tai bo vien and fried rice. Both were amazing and had just the right flavoring and were not too salty. There is a lot of space to sit and was very open. While I was eating, there was a full party who came in and took up almost half the restaurant; however, there were still left over seats to accommodate more guests. A lot of people were doing to-go orders so this could be a great place if you want some good Asian food and don't want to cook. There was really great service from the staff and they were very attentive to us to make sure we were enjoying our food and did not need anything else. Overall, this was a really great place for pho in the Georgetown area.

After landing in San Antonio yesterday to kick off my summer vacation, the very first thing I did…read moretoday was ask my friend to bring me back to this restaurant. The reason is simple: we ate here two years ago, and it left such a great impression on us that we had been looking forward to coming back ever since. Fortunately, not much has changed in terms of either the quality or the overall presentation of the food. Everything is still delicious, especially the Pho Combo. To be honest, it's far better than most of the pho we've had in Germany. That doesn't mean the pho in Germany is bad--it simply means this place matches my personal taste much better. As for the downsides, they're almost exactly the same as before. Parking is still a major challenge, and I understand that's probably not something the restaurant can easily fix. We also tried calling ahead to reserve a table, but they don't take reservations, whether you're coming with a group of 5-7 people or just 2-3 people. We arrived at 6:45 PM and still had to wait about 40 minutes before being seated, which was honestly quite inconvenient. Coincidentally, there was live music tonight, which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the sound system wasn't very good, so it was difficult to hear what the singers were performing. Then again, this isn't really the type of venue where people come specifically to enjoy live music, so most diners didn't seem to pay much attention to it. One thing I did notice was that either the kitchen has made a few changes over the past two years, or perhaps my own taste has changed a little. The food felt slightly saltier than I remembered, and the pho broth was richer and creamier. While that added some depth of flavor, it was a bit too rich for my liking, to the point where finishing the entire bowl of broth felt a little overwhelming. The braised short ribs were incredibly tender--so tender that a knife was almost unnecessary, and they could easily be pulled apart with just a fork. While many people would probably see that as a positive, I actually missed the slightly firmer, meatier texture I remembered from my last visit. That said, these are relatively minor issues. The quality may have dipped just a little compared to our previous visit, but this is still an excellent restaurant. If they can fine-tune those small details, it would easily return to being one of my favorite places. There's a good chance we'll stop by one more time before heading back to Germany.

Is it that time of year for another 1618 update? Absolutely…read more After my umpteenth visit, I think it's safe to say I've worked my way through almost the entire menu (minus a few noodle, chicken & vegetarian dishes). My 2025 review still stands, but after so many visits, I've noticed a few items haven't been good as they used to, particularly the chicken wings (and yes, all three of them). The Garlic Wings haven't been hitting quite the same. They've started to taste a little dry, and the saucier wings taste better the next day since they don't have time to steep through once served. The Filet Mignon Pepper Steak is still my favorite dish on the menu, but I still can't justify ordering it family-style anymore. It's delicious, but the portion just doesn't match the price. One of the newest additions--the Truffle Fried Rice is spectacular. It's light, not overpowering with truffle, and the fish eggs really adds the perfect little pop of texture/flavor. I don't think I breathed the entire time I scarfed it down!! 1618 is still one of my favorite restaurants in Austin of all time, but I think it's time for the menu to elevate a bit and dive deeper into less mainstream Asian cuisine. If anyone can do it, 1618 can.

The menu has a great variety of Asian-inspired barbecue, smoked meats, shareable plates, and sides, so everyone in our group found multiple dishes they loved. We came here for a small late lunch during a hot day and this place checked all the boxes. Plenty of seating options and we loved the AC. Both high chairs and booster seats available for kids. The char siew pork belly was very good. Nothing like barbecue pork belly or asian char siew, but somehow they made it work. Chicken karaage was what you would expect, similar to what you get at Japanese places. Portions are big. The sesame rice noodles were highly reviewed but kinda underwhelming. Sauce was surprisingly spicy and the sesame flavor wasn't super obvious. We also tried the rendang beans and rice, which was a creative spin. I enjoyed the curried beans with the fragrant coconut rice. Nice spot to rest, relax, enjoy a meal and drinks. Enjoyed our experience.

It's a modernized American version where you can grill taco meat and other items. We came in recently on Easter to celebrate a birthday. The place wasn't packed, but there were large parties coming in after us. We stuck with the regular AYCE and were fine with the galbi and other meats. The soondubu (spicy tofu) soup was lacking flavor. It had the spicy flavor. All I tasted was the chili pepper. All the meats were good. The only downside this visit was the service. Our server kept forgetting a few of the items we asked for. It wasn't terrible, but it did slow things down for us. To be fair, he might have been juggling a lot of tables. This Asian smokehouse definitely lives up to the hype. Since we had more adventures planned for the evening, we decided to keep dinner on the lighter side. Loro's menu combines Asian-inspired and Texas smokehouse flavors, creating a unique and delicious dining experience. The atmosphere is casual and inviting. We placed our order at the counter, and somehow the staff magically delivers everything to the correct table...without numbers, flags, or those little buzzing gadgets. I'm still trying to figure out their secret. We especially enjoyed the open seating, modern décor, and communal dining concept. The indoor-outdoor layout is especially appealing during Austin's cooler months. For dinner, we ordered the wings, Brussels sprouts, and salmon bowls. My friend happily claimed most of the wings, as they were a little crispier than I prefer. The Brussels sprouts, however, were excellent...crispy, crunchy, and finished with just the right touch of sweetness. The true highlight were the salmon bowls. The salmon was perfectly charred and packed with flavor, while the coconut rice added a rich, slightly sweet complement that tied the dish together seamlessly. Loro delivered a fun, flavorful dining experience and proved to be an excellent choice for a birthday celebration.

Credit to the restaurant as we only found one available table. We ordered a smash burger and the smoked salmon bowl. We weren't a fan of the herbs but I'll attribute that to personal preference. The smash burger was good, however, I feel the burger was not worth the price. The burger did not include a side and while good, I felt was more expensive than what it was worth which is what lowers my score.
