Some of the best bbq I've had in awhile. I love when the sauce has a nice kick of tang and it hit all the right notes. The staff was amazing and the decor was fantastic. Large portions that all hit on flavors, with fall off the bone meats. I will be going back to try more of the menu. read more

The biggest thing I miss from Texas is the brisket because California briskets tend to be dry and stiff. But this place scratches the brisket itch! The sausage, ribs, and mac n cheese were excellent as well. read more

Having returned to glorious meat factory I was overwhelmed with sensational desires for meat ! I couldn't wait to shove the hole pound of brisket down my throat. But was sadly met with the unfortunate news that they longer serve the pound , guess I can't call it the pound town no more. But nevertheless this meat did not disappoint. This time when meat was place in front of us it had his thickness.... This stench that stirs something within bringing out primal urges , it was uncontrollable. Along the the juices on the meat our mouth filled joy and pleasure. Upon finishing I was left unconscious by sheer power of the meat . Well it's was a surprise to find out that Ruby Red's serves breakfast. I'm a little hesitant to write a review because I don't want to keep it to myself but the experience was too good not to share. We've been here for the outstanding BBQ but the breakfast is awesome. Must have is that Malted Waffle and the breakfast potatoes. The ambience and our sever Jeanette was great. The staff is very friendly and very super nice. I meant to take a photo but we dug in too fast. Give breakfast a try to won't be disappointed the full menu with hits of BBQ flavors is a great. The ambiance was warm and pleasant. You felt like you were in New Orleans on Bourbon Street in a charming restaurant. Our waiter was Kevin he sat us as soon as we arrived. He was very attentive and friendly he went over the menu and answered our questions regarding the menu and the way the food was prepared. He took our order quickly and made several stops to ask if we needed anything. When we were done he offered some food to go boxes for our leftovers. We had the chicken breast it was smoked and it was delicious it was juicy and tender the sides we chose were the sweet potato waffles fries and beans and cornbread muffin. Everything was delicious. We definitely enjoyed eating here and will be bringing friends and family back to share this wonderful restaurant. PS ask for Kevin you will be served with his generous hospitality. read more

I love everything about this place!! It wasn't what I expected, I was looking for a Dickeys or small sit down, but Ruby Reds exceeded my expectations! The interior decor was amazing! So many things to look at and even the table had a plaque of where the wood from the table came from. So much attention to detail here!! And the food was amazing!!! I'm coming back here with my kids as I see they have a kids menu. Fun and beautiful restaurant and the menu has something for everyone here at affordable prices!! I was so excited to get my fried green tomatoes!!!! Not greasy! Fried perfectly! Cornbread was amazing. This place is pretty good. I ordered the brisket and it was very tender. It wasn't juicy nor dry. I can only describe it as just decent. However, this could be due to my fault because I ordered it as take out. The rub on the brisket tastes like it had coffee in it and I very much enjoyed it. The four sauces they had were not to my liking. It seems like they had a base vinegar sauce and then they modified it to have an additional three sauces. The two side I got was the salt potatoes and Mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was good and tasted very similar to something I had before. For the salt potatoes, they are just boiled Yukon gold potatoes with salt and butter. I regret getting them. I will come back to try their beef ribs and other sides. However, I will probably be bringing my own bbq sauce. read more

What a cool, hidden spot that really takes you to a handcrafted saloon with a great story behind it. Coming into Ruby Red's BBQ, the more modern restaurant is on the left side and to the right, is what looks like a neat old-school saloon full of modern touches! There's an old school Western bar area as well as booths that have LED windows on them that almost seems like you're on a train ride. It's very Disney-esque! I got to chat with the owner Steve a bit, and he informed me that he and his team handmade a lot of the wooden sections himself which is super cool and impressive. I also was informed about how much he and his team gives back to the community - where he helps inform people that come into the restaurant as well as a lot of the funds of the restaurant goes to helping those in need in the community and creating community events to galvanize people. Really appreciated the backstory and the charitable spirit of the restaurant! Onto the food! There's a lot of different BBQ and sandwich dishes! Some of my favorites that I tried included: *The deep fried pickles and cauliflower: Always a fan and no different here. Love the ranch sauce they use and not too overly battered. *The chips and dip: The chips were so light and easy to eat with a tasty bean/tomato dip. *Pulled pork: I had the brisket which was good, but I think the pulled pork was actually one of the best things I had here! Not overly salty; tender; and just cooked right. Loved pairing it with their spicier sauce. *Cheesecake: I tried their dessert which was more akin to a Japanese-style cheesecake. Less sweet and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Pretty good! Pricing wasn't super expensive and the staff was so attentive/helpful the entire night. Really went above and beyond and felt like part of a family. Thanks to Steve and his awesome team here! Would totally come again. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday because I've been trying to check this place out for a while my dinner companion got a sandwich with brisket and I ordered cornbread and their chili so I could sample it without getting a large meal. The chili was really good I did add some spice to it with some Tabasco because it wasn't that hot. The cornbread came with maple butter which is really tasty but the cornbread was a little bit crumbly. I also got a chicken slider with white sauce. The chicken was dry but the sauce made it better. I mentioned to my best friend that I was craving some BBQ, and it just so happened to coincide with our plans for a girls' day. She recommended Ruby Reds BBQ, and it was the perfect choice. I was in the mood for variety, and they nailed it with their meal for two, which came with brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, and two sides. YUM. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious--juicy, fresh, and flavorful. Even the chicken breast, which can sometimes be tricky, was my favorite on the plate, followed by the pulled pork, brisket, and then the ribs. But honestly, everything was great. The service was exceptional too. Hannah gave us spot-on recommendations and checked in on us multiple times. We were seated in a booth, which was awesome. The interior is really cool overall, but the booths felt super private and were nicely decorated. I can't wait to come back! read more

I really wanted to like this place. Let me start off with the positive. The décor was awesome. The attention to detail is unmatched for other restaurants in this area. However the food left a lot to be desired. For drinks we ordered Orange Juice and coffee. The coffee was pretty good, however the orange juice was extremely sour. While they fresh squeeze the juice on site, no one appears to taste test for anything. We tried diluting and adding sweetener to the OJ but it was remained inedible. My husband ordered the blueberry pancakes. They looked and tasted great! They were light and fluffy and the compote topper was delicious. They put a dollop of blueberry flavored whipped cream on the plate, but to be honest, they could have skipped this since it had a bad artificial flavor. I ordered the pastrami hash and eggs and it totally missed the mark. The pastrami hash was very spicy, which was not notated on the menu (the menu only indicated this was a fan favorite). At first I thought it was perhaps because the pastrami was peppered, but the spice level exceeded that kind of flavor/heat. I can handle some spice, but this dish was inedible. I wasn't going to make a big deal about the spice level until I overheard the table next to us complain to their server about it being too spicy, too. All they offered to do was take 10% off of their meal. It was only later did they offer to remake the meal without the heat level. I mentioned it to our server and she stated how they have "had several complaints about how spicy the dish was." I wish they would listen to the feedback they ask for/receive. We may be back to try their BBQ. Maybe. read more

Takeout order 07/28/2023. Gotta give a restaurant credit for unapologetically putting out such terrible food. Please look at the photos attached to this review. The mac and cheese was greasy and portioned for a mouse. Pulled chicken had no seasoning whatsoever, dry, and definitely less than half a pound. The brisket was so dry I had to drink water with every bite. It was like tearing meat. Such sad, pathetic food. No care in the packaging as it was just thrown into huge styrofoam containers. read more

We come all the way from Huntington Beach to eat here. This place is worth the 45min drive for us. The whole staff is very friendly and professional. The ambiance is fabulous for family pictures. But we come here because the food is delicious. My husband is picky when it comes to breakfast and even he loves everything we have had here. Friendly and fast service. We walked in and placed a takeout order for the small beef ribs and it was delicious. It was one huge rib, almost akin to a turkey leg from Disneyland, and tender and flavorful. They do have pork ribs available and I think we'll try that next time. read more

I was in the area with the family and decided to give this place a shot as I haven't had BBQ food in a good minute and thought it would be a great spot to stop by. It's a fast-casual restaurant, where you order at the front and they will bring the food out to you. I ordered the Cowboy Salad, the missus ordered the Texan, and the little one ordered some chicken sliders with fries. I was fairly underwhelmed by the food overall. The Cowboy Salad was large and had a lot on it, however, the chicken was extremely dry and made the salad worst because of the dryness. This was echoed with the little one's chicken sliders. The Texan was okay and was filling for the missus. She didn't have any complaints. The fries that came with the chicken sliders were extremely salty and over-seasoned. Their food is good but they are too pricey. I came for a sandwich from the lunch menu and added a lemonade and it came out to almost $31. For a simple sandwich and drink, it seems a bit too much. The food presentation was nice but the food was not good at all. We were there around 1:315 pm so not sure if the meat was left over from the night before and warmed up. The meat in the sandwiches was VERY dry and a little too salty. The corn bread $1.99 each and the store bought is much better I hate to say. Second time here and each visit, everything was very tasty. The meats are so tender and with the perfect amount of smokiness. Potato salad, beans, Mac-n-cheese were great sides. Waffle fries are so good. We got beignets for dessert and they were good as well. Lane was our server the second time around and she is friendly and attentive. Ruby Red's BBQ left a truly sour taste in our mouths tonight. We arrived around 7 PM and were told the wait would be approximately 20 minutes. Fast forward to 7:38 PM, and another group was informed they were next in line, with the excuse that the kitchen was backed up and they didn't want to seat people without food ready. The fact that numerous patrons were standing around suggests their preference was for us to stand for an hour rather than offer even a semblance of hospitality by seating us and perhaps offering a drink. To add insult to injury, our group was completely ignored during this explanation to the other party. That other group was finally seated around 7:48 PM, and we were supposedly next. Then, at a staggering 7:55 PM - after a full 55 minutes of waiting - an employee emerged to inform us that they only had one rack of ribs left and no other meat options. My husband understandably exclaimed, "We've been waiting for 50 minutes?!" to which the employee simply replied, "Yeah, sorry guys." The handling of this situation was abysmal. Basic hospitality dictates that when a significant error like this occurs, an establishment should attempt to rectify it. A simple "We sincerely apologize for the extended wait and our kitchen issues; please accept a complimentary appetizer/drink/future discount" would have gone a long way. Instead, we were met with a dismissive "sorry." Furthermore, the lack of inventory awareness is baffling. How does a BBQ restaurant not know the quantity of their main offerings? Knowing they were running low on food, especially after experiencing kitchen delays, should have prompted them to inform waiting customers much earlier. This would have saved everyone valuable time and prevented the immense frustration we experienced. Based solely on this shocking lack of service and basic operational awareness, I cannot recommend Ruby Red's BBQ. There are plenty of other establishments in the area that understand the importance of customer service and efficient management. Save yourself the wasted time and disappointment. read more

wow, it is hard to describe the magnificence of Ruby Red's bbq. i came in tonight with my family and we were visiting from Arizona and for a friday night I cannot believe the place was not slam packed with a line out the door. RUN AND TRY IT!!!! my family ordered some of the bbq sandwiches which were huge! only sad thing was, they don't come with a side, but sometimes I can be cheap haha. everything else was amazing!!! decor is beautiful! Gwen was our server, and she is the best of the best. Seriously, I have never met any server who has been as kind and thoughtful as Gwen. She made the experience top notch and my kids LOVED her. she is EXCELLENT. She was super funny and sweet, and we never had to call for her because she was so attentive. My husband and I were shocked when we asked if she was the manager and she said no and we asked if her parents owned the place and she said no but some friends from church did. what an awesome establishment and a great young woman. I had a really pleasant experience here and would give it a solid 4 stars! The absolute highlight for me was the venue itself. The interior of the restaurant is very cool, definitely channeling an old Western saloon environment. It features beautiful dark wood, an old Western-style chandelier, and high ceilings that give the place a spacious yet rustic vibe. The inside is just really cool to look at while you eat. On top of that, the service was very nice, and the servers were all very cute and attentive. For my meal, I ordered the beef brisket sandwich, which came with one side. The flavor of the beef brisket was good, but the meat itself was actually kind of dry. I tend to prefer a much more moist brisket, so that was the only real letdown of the food. The restaurant is located in a huge shopping center surrounded by grocery stores and other restaurants. Because the parking lot is shared amongst all the different businesses in the area, finding a spot can be a total hit-or-miss depending on the time of day you visit. The country-style brisket and eggs were absolutely delicious, boasting authentic Southern flavors that transported me straight to the heart of the South. During these hard times, we feel that restaurants need to pull together, and we wish you the best. BBQ is subjective, some like this or that while others that and this. We believe that there is room for as many different tastes as possible. I was able to go to a soft opening. Wow, this place is AMAZING! The brisket was tender and juicy, and the ribs were just the right amount of pull-off-the-bone delicious. The sides we tried were wonderful -- the cornbread had an excellent consistency, especially paired with the maple butter. The macaroni salad had enough little veggies in it to keep it interesting, and the cole slaw was actually better than anything the Colonel ever dreamt of. Even the desserts were delicious. But the real differentiator is the employees (and the owners). Everyone I met there was genuinely nice. Do you know how rare that is? This looks like it's going to be a very special place, and I intend to come back again and again. read more

The service is attentive with a smile. They have a good selection of foods & even family style platters if you're in a group. My friend got the Sweet Pig sandwich with coleslaw & pickles on top. The food was absolutely delicious, very good pricing for such good quality food, the fries were like no other very delicious, jannat (our waitress) was very lovely and gave us amazing service, she was very kind and was very nice to talk to. The inside of this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, has nice lighting, and there are even little booths that have a cabin in the woods kinda feel, and there is even fake windows that show a beautiful place with a stream runing. Came in Friday for breakfast and I'm SO glad I did. The food was excellent. My server was Gwen and she was awesome. Her recommendations were fantastic!! She deserves a raise, her service was astounding. No trouble whatsoever with our table. I had the Biscoff butter French toast and the biscuits and gravy and I haven't been the same since. I don't get how this place can get anything less than five star reviews, this place is AWESOME. Seriously amazing quality food, and even better service. From there, they will tell you where to sit, and then they bring out the food to you. I don't love the concept, because you're not really given time to study the menu and decide on what you want. Luckily, we already knew what we wanted for our entrees, but didn't really get the chance to review beverages or sides, so we went without either. We ordered the chicken and waffles, and the breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was fine, and was a generous size; the salsa that came with it just tasted like a chipotle cholula. The chicken and waffles really did blow me away though. The chicken strips were so flavorful, and worked with both the syrup and the white gravy that they provide; only downside was that the chicken was a little stringy and chewy for my taste. When you are sat down, they bring you a bottle of water so that you can pour yourself the water. After that, no one really checks in on you. Which is a bit of an issue, since we did run out of water by the time we were done with the food. And if you wanted to order more food afterwards, you're kind of out of luck. And you tip at the counter before you even sit down? Just a bit illogical from a consumer perspective. Maybe it's because I came a little earlier in the morning, but it was pretty quiet atmosphere, in a good way. It had enough people where it wasn't an awkward silence, but not so loud that you'd have to raise your voice to communicate across the table. My biggest issue is with the prices here. $17 for a burrito, $19 for the chicken and waffles. And this is before tax/tip, for an establishment where their only job is to bring you the food, without really checking up on you afterwards. Menu prices just seemed a little steep, considering that they're not operating with the same amount of service as a full sit-down restaurant experience. I'd come back, but I'd have to be seriously craving the food before willingly paying these prices again.
