This place used to be the best steakhouse around. Ordered a Ribeye steak tonight and it tasted like it had been boiled in beef stock. The manager said it was because they wet age their meat. Besides the awful flavor, the steak was about 1/3 gristle and fat. I ordered it with Gorgonzola melted on top but they failed to put the cheese on. Oh well. There are plenty of better steakhouses in the immediate area. Lesson learned, stay away from this place. read more

Went and had the prime rib. It was okay but not great. Im not a big fan of having it seared on the grill. I like it medium rare out of the oven. That being said the service there was impeccable. I loved coming here because of the atmosphere and the service, but we've made a reservation for my grandpa's 80th birthday for 12 people and they have us seated in a hallway next to the restrooms and not enough seating for everyone and had to ask for more seats. Our minds already set on steak, we stumbled upon this rustic looking lodge: the design is authentic inside and out, but maybe a little to dark for my taste. I ordered the prime rib.I must admit it was very tender and cooked medium (as ordered), the sides were ok but nothing special (baked potato ,Caesar salad) All in all a fine prime rib. There's two things I have to point out though: First of all, the tasteless, chewy pieces of rubber they are offering as "bread", are a joke. I haven't tasted something similar in a while. Secondly, you don't need to be sommelier or beer expert, but a little bit more information on beverages than reading the menu out loud would be a nice touch. read more

Omg I have never had a steak so bad in my life. First a medium rare steak should not be burnt and with that no steak should taste as terrible as these steaks. Additionally I am 80% sure they use or purchase steaks made from meat glue. ..we received a gift card to this location for our anniversary and both my wife and I got sick. But that could be from anything however both steaks were tasteless and not cooked to order. This could be because of a party of 10 that was there the Wednesday we were there. I have been to this location twice in the last two years for our Anniversary Dinner and loved every bit of it. I had a garlic sirloin steak and my husband had Salmon. We had coconut shrimp as an appetizer and we also got jacketed potatoes. I had a regular potato and my husband had a sweet potato. The food here is a little more expensive but I think well worth it. I am never disappointed when I go here! My son, and my SIL Took me for an early dinner there on Sunday, September 6 for my birthday. We had a nice leisurely afternoon with delicious food and perfect service. What made the service so much better, was the fact that our server Joshua noticed I was wearing a cast on my right hand which is my dominant hand, due to surgery, and I was unable to use my thumb. He brought our steaks, and as I was trying to cut it with my left hand, before my son could even pick up a knife and cut it for me (which he totally planned on doing, he just wanted to have a giggle with me trying to cut with my left hand) ...Joshua Sat down at the booth, pulled my plate to him and cut my steak. I am 58 years old and never once have I had that kind of service! We made sure we told the manager how awesome he was, how amazing the food was, and that will be back again and again and again. This is hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. My steak was cold on arrival, and my server never came back to ask if I needed anything. My kids asked for ketchup for their fries and we only got it after they had already eaten most of them--they got tired of waiting and our server never came back for us to remind her that we needed it. My friend's steak didn't arrive until everyone else had already eaten. He had to take it to go because it had already been over an hour and a half. His potato wasn't cooked thoroughly either. When our bill arrived we were charged for more than what we had ordered, and when we asked to speak with the manager we were only given a 15% reduction on his one meal and a coupon to come back. Made a reservation for 6 for special occasion for 6:30. We arrived and were seated upstairs nice area. Waiter was prompt at first. We ordered a n appetizer which arrived right away. Ordered meals got salads right away. Then it went bad. Did not see the waiter for over an hour our meals finally showed up at 8:00 an hour and a half after we ordered the expensive shrimp , 3 for $15.00 , was cold the baked potato was almost raw. Not sure how you can cut a potato in half and not know it is still very rocky and cold. My steak , a porter house, was cold and gristly and the other people in my party their dinner was cold as well. I talked to the manager and she said I will take care of your bill to me that meant the whole bill NO just two meals and the waiter said he still expected a tip. I would recommend you go anywhere but Ruby River. As a final note the men's room was locked I believe that is a health department violation and when ask if they would unlock it was told it was out of service. Can not wash your hands frequently when the bathroom is locked. I could not have been more disappointed. Ruined the special occasion. read more

I never give one star but my experience here was BAD. Friday night and I don't mind the hour wait bc my friend and I were seated at the bar and had a few drinks. It was not until we were seated, that it went downhill from there. Entrees get two sides each and my date got the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon and I got the smothered chicken. I ordered both of my sides to be a salad and he ordered his two sides to be asparagus and steak soup. The entrees come out and sides are missing. We had to ask FOUR TIMES for our sides and our waitress said- oh they're ready I just forgot to pick them up. Wtf? Okay.. She brings the side when we are well half way through our meal and the soup and asparagus was cold and my salad was runny and the greens were wilted from having the dressing sit on it for so long. My date only took one bite of the soup and refused to eat the rest. Mind you were half an hour into our meal and she hasn't gotten us WATER or DRINKS. I decided to ask for the THIRD time if we could have some water and my date wanted a beer. She came back to our table and apologized for the constant mess ups but then reveals TMI by telling us - I really have to go to the bathroom.. Well okay we didn't need to know that but can we HAVE OUR FREAKING DRINKS????? Finally - after a horrible meal the bill comes out.. And she screwed up bad by charging us for 3 beers and charged us for ALL FOUR sides.. Sides come with the entree and we only ordered one bill. No wonder our bill looked way too big. After chasing her down, she changes the bill..or so we thought. She takes off the extra two beers but doesn't remove the sides so we needed a new bill.. Wow this experience was so horrible and I'm a patient person and I still tip 20 percent despite the horrible experience I had but I will never come back here. I hope the manager reads this and retrains their staff bc with over 10 mistakes within an hour- that's not acceptable. I don't need to know when my waiter wants to use the bathroom or admit that our food is done and she just forgot to pick it up. read more

We are relatively new to the area and decided to try this place for our anniversary dinner. We made reservations for 430 on a Sunday, so it was relatively empty. We were seated quickly. My first pet peeve, I am not a fan of dark restaurants. I know they are going for an intimate vibe, but I am always leery of places where you can't really see your food. There was a lamp on our table that was filthy and covered in dust. Ugh. They brought out bread. I am not a fan of crunchy crust, but my husband liked it. It came with a strawberry? flavored butter which I did not like. I ordered steak and avocado egg rolls as a starter. It was obvious that it wasn't made fresh, it came out very fast and the inside was lukewarm. They tasted good, but we were a little put off that they didn't make it fresh. My husband ordered filet mignon and I ordered ribeye. My steak was a bit salty, but cooked right. It came with a baked potato that seemed to be coated with some breading and deep fried. I wasn't a fan. The breading has a sweet taste and the inside wasn't cooked through. The sautéed mishrooms were tasty though. My husbands filet mignon came out practically raw. He ordered medium. The inside was practically blue and cold to the touch. So he sent it back. They brought back the same piece of meat which was now well done. My husband was not happy. They offered to make it again, but he was fed up by now. His sides were mashed potatoes and fries. Both were average. For dessert, we had the cookie. The middle of it was a bit raw tasting. Our waiter was friendly and prompt. We expected more from them for the claims of Utah's best steak. Overall, we were disappointed and will not be back. read more

When my steak came out it looked beautiful... except that it was missing my side of asparagus. After 3-4 minutes my asparagus came out with only 3 measly stalks on the side dish. WTF..... The temp was too warm for comfort and there was 2 types of music playing. Had late lunch there yesterday and heard their claim of best steak in Utah for the last four years. I had the smaller fillet that was wrapped in bacon, I was not impressed. The service was great and so was the small Caesar salad. I was there for dinner a few years back and also had a fillet. We went to Ruby River for our anniversary, and honestly it was the best service we have ever had our waiter David was amazing and so knowledgeable about everything on the menu including chef's recommendations along with his favorites. He was so nice and refreshing to talk to. We both had the Rib-eyes and they were both cooked perfectly. I had the battered fries and a salad with their own micro brew. Met my friends for dinner here. I didn't want to go here because of a previous dinner here but..... Our waitress was Ashely, we were there at 4 p.m. and were told it was dinner time, fine. Placed order and 2 out of the 3 of us did not get what we ordered. Some guy came and brought us our food, he came back with a plate to take my Salmon back that I had asked to be Blackened and also brought chives for our baked potatoes, he stated "that none of it was on the order"? hmmm. We had to ask for Cracked Black Pepper on our Salad, he then left and Ashley our server walked by and said "I'll be right back" She comes back to put the pepper on our Salads and says "these things never work" Well, it really didn't work at all. Then she told us "sorry I have a party back there" Really? and you can't do your job or if you can't do your job then maybe they need to get someone else to wait on the others! Not a enjoyable meal at all, couldn't eat our salad we had to eat our Potato because they took back the Salmon and then some other guy brought that back, we did not get any more water, well I never got water I shared with someone else. Was I going to leave a tip, really Ashley did not deserve a tip. Anytime she came to us her whole attention was focused on "her big party in the back" Then Ruby River needs to hire someone to "do large parties" and hire staff to work with the customers waiting. This is the worst restaurant we have eaten at in Ogden. My husband ordered the coconut shrimp which was edible but nothing else was. I ordered chicken and ribs which were so dry I had to choke down my one and only bite. They brought me raspberry chicken as a replacement. It was poorly seasoned chicken with raspberry jelly on top, nasty! This place masks the lack of flavor by covering everything in cream or fat. Too bad considering there are so many great places to eat in Ogden and this place is not even worth stepping foot in. We eat at restaurants in Ogden every weekend at we'll never be back! WAY overrated. Went for lunch and was sooo completely disappointed. This is a pricey restaurant, well for me it is, and to pay these prices and get old tasting, boring food, well that doesn't fly with me. Oh, and lets not forget the service-- JOKE. The waitress didn't care to check on us, and didn't care to offer us coupons like she did the people at the table over. The food tasted old, my mom got the bbq beef sandwich-- beef tasted like old roast beef dipped in gross bbq sauce. THATS IT. I got the bbq chicken sandwhich-- this is a chicken breast dipped in the same gross bbq sauce, BORING! At least i had tomato and lettuce to help out the sandwich a tad. The root beer is bitter and strong, not good at all. They act like it's such a good soda when it's just really disgusting. Sorry, but when u go pay 35 bucks for lunch, it better be good, especially it being a bbq place. I don't get why restaurants want to serve boring, gross food. If it were me, I'd want my place to serve the best and unforgettable food. Apparently this place is just lookin for money without giving good food or service. DO NOT GO WASTE UR MONEY! We arrived to Ruby River and shortly after, I was ready to leave. Where to begin in my much regretted meal... I guess I'll start with the Caesar salad. It came out first and fast! I was excited for the quick service but when it arrived to the table, it was just a gloppy mess. The salad was sloppy and the lettuce was soggy, completely overdressed; just saturated in dressing. I didn't think much of it till my entree arrived to the table. I saw my main course... my sad, mediocre, $25 piece of halibut. The disappointment proceeded as I took a glimpse at my side order. I don't know about you, but I think COLD garlic mashed potatoes are just gross. The mash was so cold the grated cheese on top didn't melt. Completely distracted with my disappointing meal I realized my daughter's entree did not come out. It wasn't till 10 minutes after our food came out, her kids meal arrived. I was completely disappointed with the meal. The employees were great, unfortunately it doesn't compensate for the amount of money I spent tonight.
