REALLY nice place! I'm not certain it's the same owner, but it's in the same spot where Bethel Square restaurant and Lounge was before being destroyed by the tornado a couple years ago. Super cozy inside - very 50's diner look with checkerboard floors, 50s style vinyl booths and tables, along with really nice decor. Very clean and ordered and inviting. We stopped in just on a lark, driving by and seeing the "Open" sign. We had already had lunch earlier, but had to try something so we picked up an order of wings and tots to nibble now, and take home for dinner later. SUPER yummy tots and wings!! Really nicely cooked - crisp and evenly cooked on the tots, moist and tender on the wings. We also shared a beer from the bar. Our server was super nice and service was excellent. The menu is VERY broad as such diners go, with lots of choices for burgers, sandwiches, salads, specialty fries, and deserts. It will be fun to slowly work through the menu over time. Really nice to have another quality restaurant back in Port Orchard after a few years of decline - it's really nice to see places opening like this. Oh, and how cute is the name? Get it? I've loved everything I've eaten here. I've tried the corned beef hash, chicken fried steak, Belgian waffle, and cinnamon roll pancakes. The corned beef hash definitely tastes like the brisket is made in-house. The chicken fried steak is perfectly crispy and the gravy is so savory and flavorful. The Belgian waffle is craveable (I'm pregnant so I literally do crave it). The pancake has such a great texture. Overall the restaurant is very clean, which makes for a nice ambiance. We just moved to Port Orchard and this is already one of our favorite places. read more

The food was good as last time here. Took a star off for Covid since help wore masks but not correctly. Think mask requirement was lifted this last weekend but unlike last time where requirements were followed, this time people entered and left without masks on. The help worn masks but incorrectly so I would've rather they didn't wear a mask. read more

This is one of the slowest places to get food and it's clear that if you are not a local - you will be put aside & not be attended to. We ordered & waited 40 minutes just to get our order. Regulars are given their food first after ordering after us. Food was good though - kitchen did a good job but I would not come back here for dine in or take out. read more

If you are looking for cornbeef and cabbage today, I do not recommend you get it here. We had it last night, cornbeef was so tough the serated knife couldn't cut through it. The potatoes and carrots were not cooked through and when we asked for butter the waitress said we shouldn't need it. Then brought the butter reluctantly and said the cook said we shouldn't need it, as it all had been cooked together. I was in disbelief at what came out of her mouth. The food was edible and the service was decent. I'm thinking the limited menu was meant to be modern and hip but it's clearly geared mostly for older adults and a bit bland. The server seemed like they were annoyed with us existing in front of them. I'm not sure I understand the Ruby Slipper thing. I was imagining an Oz themed restaurant. Not at all, it was lots of metal pictures of the American flag and cowboys and weird Covid plexiglass barriers. And ALOT of it. Pretty much every square inch of wall space. The loaded fries were ok. I have eaten there before they became the Ruby Slipper, and thought it was okay then, priced pretty fairly, however now the prices are way to steep to afford! If I wanted to pay those prices, I could go to much better places than that. read more

They have vegan burgers and cheese. Along with other vegan appetizers. Large portions and you can get sweet potatoes fries.

They should call it the Hidden Gem. Went here expecting basic diner food, but it was so much better than I thought. Split the buffalo wing appetizer- it was incredible. $10 for 6 wings is a little steep but the quality more than made up for it. Seriously, get their wings, you won't regret it. Their buffalo sauce is really good too- not the basic buffalo you get at most places, seemed like they probably make it in house. Got the burger dip and taco salad as entrees. I was very pleased with the burger dip as it came on a french roll with a generous amount of au jus. Not to mention the fries were nice and crispy and seasoned well. The taco salad was nothing special but it was good. Iceberg and basic toppings, but plenty and delicious. There's also homemade tortilla chips that come with it and they were great. Whoever is running the fryer knows E-X-A-C-T-L-Y what they are doing! Can't go wrong with anything fried here. Reasonable prices. The service was stellar too - food came out fast, hot and fresh and our waitress was on top of everything we needed before we had to ask. Can't wait to come back. read more

Probably the worst restaurant I've been to yet. Tried it twice with 6 months in between each time. Both times we were treated horribly. Went on my birthday for breakfast waitress was very rude not friendly to my family at all. Food was okay. Second time went in an hour and a half before they closed and you could tell they did not want us there, complained we were there. Food was gross and cold that time. Won't be back. read more

Stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago only to discover you had breakfast all day too. Our food was delicious, service was great and they complied with the mask mandates and distancing rules for guests. Thank you for taking care of your customers! I'm not sure where to begin with this review. I have never had to send food back before today. I actually feel bad for having to do this. My potatoes were burnt, I had no meat in my skillet that I ordered (that was supposed to have sausage), my husbands corn beef hash had hardly any corn beef. The corn beef that it did have was super dry. His whole meal had a pool of grease underneath it. My daughters meal was okay. It was french toast. Her "fresh fruit" didn't taste quite right and came out in a bowl with a third of liquid on the bottom. The Ruby Slipper bar has a name that speaks to nostalgia but that's where the pros for this little place ends. When you walk in there is nothing that would explain why this restaurant is named The Ruby Slipper bar and grill. There a pictures of Lucille Ball, John Wayne and The Three Stooges but no memorabilia of The Wizard of Oz. The booths are a glittery blue not a Ruby Slipper red. We ordered onion rings and fried pickles as appetizers and they came out right before our meal. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. I ordered a BLT. The bacon was burnt to a crisp and the bread was dry. My husband ordered a burger with that was overcooked and missing the sauce that was supposed to come with it. When you go to a diner you aren't looking for a Michelin Star experience but even for diner food this place was awful. I love good diner food but unfortunately this place doesn't have it. read more

my wife and I went here with our daughter for the first time and it was a beautiful experience. Peaceful atmosphere, friendly servers, a clean environment and delicious food. The servers were awesome and even said my wife's loaded fries were on them and when I went to tip them they said not to worry about it and enjoy our holidays.
