I ordered carry out and it won't be be my last time eating here. I love the extensive variety of choices between their normal menu, their dietary selection menu and their seasonal. I had the breakfast tacos from their dietary selection menu and a side of potatoes which didn't disappoint. We were greeted at the front desk by a friendly and smiling employee. The Server was just a nice and very helpful. She knew the menu and even recommended some dishes when we asked. The restaurant itself was very comfortable. Tables were very clean as was the rest of the restaurant. The decor was pretty relaxed and cool. The food was amazing and bigger portions than we thought we would get. I had been to the old Gatlinburg location which had unfortunately closed. I was so excited to see that they had a convenient Knoxville location. Parking was very convenient at the Market Square garage and we were able to easily get on the waitlist ahead of time. Our service was very efficient and friendly. She assisted us by letting us know that the kids can eat free with an adult entree purchase. I love the decor in the building but wanted to sit outside and people watch as it was the same day as a comic con going on down the street. Our food was amazing! After about a 20 minute wait around 10 am. for our party of 6 adults and a toddler, we were seated in a large booth with a high chair. Water for everyone, plus various coffees were ordered. My spiced vanilla latte was delicious, as was the regular latte I ordered after finishing the first one! Hubby ordered a BYO (Build Your Own) omelette with cheese grits, while I ordered the Smoked Salmon omelette with potatoes. Both omelettes were served with a huge biscuit and butter. Hubby and I shared the cheese grits and potatoes. Both of us thought that the grits were much better than the potatoes! While I have had good experiences here in the past, this time the service was terrible, they were out of every single gluten-free item on the menu (which left my daughter almost nothing to order from the menu in light of her other allergies), plus the area near the restrooms is a disgusting place where customers are forced to linger while waiting. Finally got to this place for Sunday brunch. Some positives, but ruined by the negatives. First-- if you ever go, go to their website and put your name on the wait list! We didn't know this. Showed up and registered at 10:13; were told maybe a 45-minute wait for the two of us. Finally went up to the desk at 11:56 to ask if we might be seated anytime soon and "what a coincidence" as she looked it up, she said our table was JUST ready then. (Times are totally accurate, based on the time stamp on the texts....that's a wait of an hour and 43 minutes. I get it, they are very popular, but at the least shouldn't their system be better tuned to the wait lengths? And it just seemed a bit rigged that people who log in and add their names are in the same queue as those who show up first. Next- prices are rather high. Again- I get all the factors but...for those prices, you'd think they could throw in some hash browns or something on the side, rather than charge extra for such things. And the coffee was mediocre at best and rather high (not a fancy coffee, just regular joe). But we are OK to pay more for GOOD food--- Yet one of the two dishes was cold..and I mean CLEARLY, with the sauce clearly showing it had been sitting, waiting until the other dish got done, we presume. Other than the off temperature, I'll admit they were both tasty, for sure. Would I go again? Yes, but not on a Sunday and not without adding name to waiting list well before going there. Amazing food and staff! My husband and I went here with a friend who told us about it. I got the eggs benedict with pork and one with chicken, they were both amazing and perfectly cooked. My husband had biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and they were some of the best light fluffy but low and slow cooked eggs we have had. Friend green tomatoes were perfectly sized, crunchy and flavorful and my friend got churro French toast I believe it was, I tried some and loved it and she raves about it the whole time. My friend and I both also got their hot latte and seasonal gingerbread latte and loved both so much we almostttt got a third but didn't want to explode of caffeine. I love all things New Orleans! So, I was super excited to try Ruby Slippers. A few months ago, I had the opportunity to take a virtual cooking class with Chef Marla. She is the Culinarily Operations Partner at Ruby Slipper. We made their signature Cinnamon Swirl Pancake. We eagerly drove downtown to have an early breakfast. It was not busy, which was great! The customer service was amazing. The set up and decor oozed all things New Orleans. There are super cute Mardi Gras accents throughout the restaurant. Our server was nice, polite, and friendly. There was no wait and we were immediately seated. We ordered the French toast bites.They were delicious and weren't too sweet. The bites were drizzled with a cream cheese sauce that was pretty amazing. I ordered shrimp and grits. It could have used some seasoning. When I think of New Orleans shrimp and grits, I think the holy trinity, herbs and spices with a pinch of heat. I didn't get that at all. My husband meal lacked flavor as well. Another day, another food stop on our weekend in Knoxville. We started out with the French toast bites and were blown away! The cream sauce on top and the praline dipping sauce on the side are the perfect combo. I ordered the chicken St Charles, but had to substitute the pork crema sauce for hollandaise because they were out. The flavors of the chicken really come through and the portion size is perfect. My husband got the bananas foster french toast...out of this world!!!! Whatever sauce/syrup was on top was absolute heaven! Gave 4 stars because even though service wasn't horrible I feel that it wasn't on par with the other places we have been while visiting. Lovely location downtown near free garage parking on the weekends, food was amazing (highly recommend the avocado toast!). Our server was great. But they only had one working restroom for the whole restaurant, so that killed 15 mins waiting in line. The mimosas taste like cheap boxed wine; please don't splurge the flight you'll be super disappointed. I got the seasonal sugar cookie latte to go and it was basically just a bunch of flavored syrup - so gross. I asked on the way out if I could get a splash of just drip coffee added to my cup to help dilute the syrup because it was really gross and didn't seem to have any espresso, and the hostess said no, so that was a disappointment since it would've been an easy solve for her to make for a customer.
