Good place for a burger and shakes/Malts. Always have loved Ruby's but since they closed the ones near the beach this is my go to. This one has a cute 50's diner inside, it's a little unique compared to the others around. It's close to Disneyland which makes it nice to go to after a day at the park. Food is always great as well as service. Shakes or malts, definitely order them vs as to go, you'll get twice the amount for the same cost. The only thing I found annoying is the parking. They have added a lot of Tesla parking/charging spots. Which can make it difficult to park when they are busy. Last time we came, there was not one Tesla parked or charging in the spots. There was however a mini van parked in the spots lol. And a Tesla was parked in a normal spot. The only reason I dropped this review to 3 stars. read more

Ruby's holds a really special place in my heart because I grew up near one, which later closed. Now I go and visit the ones around the California Coast. This particular one is really nice inside, which wood floors and car themed decor. Really keeps the vintage vibe. I was really disappointed by the fries. I always get the basket of fries and was shocked when they came and were different! They used to be thin crispy fries. Now they're thick, still fluffy, but different. Also, our kids meal did not come in the folded classic car box as advertised, which was disappointing. Milkshakes were delicious as always. I recently went to ruby's diner for dinner last night and I had a fish and chips with coleslaw and tartar sauce and sprite. The chocolate cookie dough shakes are delicious and I miss the confetti cake shakes. They even got a Tesla charger for parking lot. The service is great to give us time to look at the menus. The one thing I miss is the fried shrimp in cocktail sauce as it's not on the menu anymore. On the other hand, I should probably try tater tot's, impossible burger, and onion rings next. This review is to specifically call out Tice! We came in over the weekend to have dinner with family. Didn't have to wait too long for a table. We had Tice as our server and he went above and beyond for us. He asked questions, small ones like "do you want your burger cut in half", which is rare to hear in a restaurant so it was awesome he was thinking beyond the usual questions. He was funny and very attentive. He made sure we left satisfied with the overall service and food. We had a 3 year old with us and as he was about to ask about the d-e-s-s-e-r-t, he immediately read our minds and was like "oh, just kidding , any refills?" So great! Wanted to go to broken yolk but the wait was to long so we went here, so happy we went! The design and vibe is so cool, and the waitresses outfits are so cute! Our server Tice works his entire shift on roller skates and it's pretty cool to see him carry drinks and food trays. He's a great server, very personable and attentive. I love diners so I was excited to come here. We needed to charge our Tesla and this place is right next to the chargers. Patty melt with tots, chicken tender basket with fries, the ranch, chicken sauce. Everything was 10 out of 5. Great service as well. I have been coming to this diner for the last couple of years, and being in the food business myself for 50 years. I must say the food here is excellent. Carne Asada torta is a 10. Mexican combo with the chili relleno, fried Asada taco and chicken enchilada is off the hook. the cheeseburgers are absolutely the best in town and I would measure them to In-N-Out burgers. This location has become a weekend staple for my family. My 80 year old grandpa loves to dine here for the friendly service, delicious food and great music. He sings along to all the songs. Breakfasts are consistently fresh here. The breakfast potatoes are some of the best around. I often come here alone on my lunch break and I definitely recommend the Chinese chicken salad. With all these changes this past year, we have dined both indoors and on the patio. It is a hot day 93+ degrees! Pokémon GO has the "Fest Makeup Day" from 11am to 2pm, so we decide to visit Ruby's Diner before heading over to downtown Disney to catch Pokémon. 1st thing I noticed was a wonderful patio area, and the cool music playing in the background. The patio seating is spacious and the area is covered. I found the space relaxing. This location has a carhop area, most of it is shaded; with luck a person can park in the shade and eat in their vehicles and enjoy a meal. (coincidently, I had an opportunity to chat with the owner) I had the opportunity to convey to him my perspective about the carhop area) he was very positive and thankful on my feedback. As I do think that if all those "carhop" area spots had full shade it would be better, especially on these super hot days! As noted from my 1st impression, the noteworthy aspect of this particular restaurant are the beautiful patios. People are in need of fresh air, everyone is stuck at home breathing AC, and granted it is hot outside, it was truly wonderful to enjoy lunch in a relaxing environment. *PLEASE NOTE: the restaurant is beautiful inside, but because of covid-19 no one is eating inside the restaurant, therefore, my comments are BASED on the patio accommodations this restaurant has made to comply with covid-19) NOW when it comes to food, I am very very very VERY particular about how my hamburger should be cooked. Most times, when it comes to eating a burger at a restaurant, I'm always somewhat disappointed. As I always want the meat well done, and if the meat is overcooked then it becomes hard and dry. When the server brought my plate, I was happy to see that the meat looked well cooked, and when I took the 1st bite, I knew it was cooked to perfection: juicy, cooked perfectly, and tasty!! Shakes are always AMAZING at Rubys so I won't go into details on that. Instead, I do want to make an observation regarding face mask. As we all know, restaurants require for their staff to wear a mask. At the same time, masks eliminate that human connection we get when we are greeted with a smile. I was delighted to see that each employee had a personalized mask. Allowing the servers to connect with their customers by displaying a portion of their personalities. CONNECTIVITY is key during these confusing times, having something to relate to is in my humble opinion crucial to maintaining a sense of familiarity. As I do think business can be selective on personals mask, as in, if they are going to wear a non uniform mask, they should wear items that are non political or offensive but more in a spectrum of colorfulness and commonly related topics. (obviously these are personal opinions, someone may feel its necessary to have uniform mask, as for now, I do think this Ruby's location has elected a fun way to keep their business feeling comfortable in a "homelike"' welcoming environment. SIDE NOTE (as mentioned above, the plan was to eat then leave to find Pokémon) instead, since the environment was super welcoming, and THE LOCATION has plenty Pokémon, we decided to Pokemon GO at Ruby's! The sandwich was served on toasted sourdough bread and included eggs cooked over hard style with 2 kinds of cheese, avocado and chipotle mayo which was delicious. It came with a side of Ruby's spuds which were cooked perfectly. If you check in on Yelp you get a free "itsy bitsy " sundae free. Our server was very attentive and friendly. What a gem! We've never gone to this Ruby's location. It is around the corner (literally) from Disneyland. Had we known we would have been coming here more often. First off, I HAVE to give mad props to our server, Tice! This guy was super polite, friendly, and even sang the Ruby's official Birthday Song to our son! Apparently, not a lot of servers know that song. Thank you, Tice! This Ruby's location looked more like diners did back in the 40s. Not just from the decor, but the architecture as well. This location also has an outdoor dining space, but what is also cool is that the parking area also allows you to eat in your car like the good old drive-ins. Plus, you can listen to the music that is playing in the restaurant since there are speakers out there. Our order- 2 Classic Burgers, a Hickory Burger, a Guacamole burger, and an Adult Mac N' Cheese- a grilled cheese sandwich with 2 cheese and a tomato soup to dip it in! All of us had their shakes (Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate, Vanilla and Butterfinger). We left in such a good mood! The best part of this dinner was we were seated right away. There was no wait! Went here with my group for malts/shakes, just to be informed that they were out of ice cream. I was willing to wait the estimated 15 minutes they told me it would take to get more ice cream. 55 minutes later we finally get our melted poor excuse for shakes and malts. The front staff was friendly, which is why I am not giving a one star review, but the food preps in the back don't know how to make malts yet, and I could not recommend this Ruby's to anyone, at least for ice cream. I went to a Ruby's in Carlsbad and it was great, very surprised at the difference I've seen in this particular location. Maybe it will get better with time, but I won't be back to find out. Haven't been here since last year. The customer service isn't what it used to be. The waitress seemed very impatient when looking over the menu. My main reason to going to Rubys was because they had an amazing veggie patty. They no longer carry it but had the impossible burger. That was my first time trying it and it was disgusting. This is a gorgeous historic location in Anaheim and the staff is unbelievably courteous and friendly. Always great service! That being said... We haven't been there for about 8 months, and we noticed a big change in their offerings. The beignets, which they are pretty known for, are markedly smaller in size and we're overcooked. The food quality seems to have diminished as I'm not sure if they're cutting costs, or what. We had pancakes (always good) and huevos rancheros. The food was good but overall portions were smaller.
