This is one of my favorite restaurants. Whether we eat at the restaurant or get to go, I'm usually always happy. So when I order, I usually get the pick three or the feast. It's always more food than one sitting, so I'm able to enjoy it for a while I can't get enough of the biscuits and apple butter, so I buy like a little tub of the apple butter and extra biscuits. You can't beat that! My other thing that I love is their a strawberry lemonade. It's really good and it's not too sweet and not too sour. Then comes to barbecue I love the brisket. I love the pork belly and my favorite is always the baby back ribs. They're very generous with their sauce, but just in case a bottle of sauce is totally worth it and available to purchase. I think one time I've been here three times in in one weekend and the service and quality never waivers. There are times the wait is a little longer than usual, but the servers are very communicative of anywait. The restaurant is a little smaller. It's not fit for super large groups maybe like 8 to 10 would be good At most. It does have that old timer feel. So cute! read more

Good place to get some tasty bbq. I like coming to this location as it's close to the Orange Outlets. We like coming here to dine right after a long day of shopping. I like getting their trip tip, pork belly burnt ends, and half chicken. Their chicken is quite tasty and juicy. I've never had a dry chicken piece here. I also like to get their lemonade while I munch on my bbq. Their cornbread and apple butter are quite tasty as well. I always get some to take home and enjoy it at a later time. Overall good time here. Our waitress did take while to place our order and the food took forever but we were definitely hungry by then and engulfed our bbq. Will be back again soon! read more

This should have been so much better! I ordered the brisket through DoorDash and, to give credit where it's due, the food arrived hot and the delivery itself was fine. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended for me. When I order from a BBQ restaurant, especially when I'm paying BBQ prices, I expect the brisket to be the standout item. Good brisket should be tender, juicy, flavorful, and have that rich smoky taste that comes from being cooked low and slow. Sadly, that wasn't my experience at all. The brisket I received was dry, tough, and lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting. Instead of being easy to pull apart or melt-in-your-mouth tender, it was chewy and difficult to eat. The seasoning and smoke flavor were also underwhelming, making the meat feel even more disappointing. As someone who specifically ordered brisket because it's usually the star of any BBQ menu, I was surprised by how far it fell short of expectations. I understand that delivery can sometimes affect food quality, but since the food arrived hot, I don't think temperature was the issue here. The problem was simply the quality and preparation of the brisket itself. Based on my experience, I would recommend that others skip the brisket. There are plenty of BBQ places that do brisket exceptionally well, and unfortunately this wasn't one of them. I was really looking forward to this meal and ended up disappointed. I ordered Lucille's BBQ for lunch last week since it's sorta close to work and in somewhat walking distance so I don't have to lose my parking spot... ordered online through their website and opted for the 2-item lunch combo, upgrade to tritip and brisket (both had an additional surcharge), comes with garlic mashed potatoes, and a biscuit. Really - for the price you pay - the portions are horrible. Both meats were dry, overcooked in some parts. You can see in my photos how bad the cuts looked. I don't know if take-out customers are given worse cuts since they won't be on-site to complain - but happy to share my disappointment in a review that's going to live on their site forever. I had to bathe all my cuts of meats in the sauces to make any part of them remotely palatable. The garlic mashed potatoes was really just mashed potatoes - dry, and no hint of garlic at all. Even a thing of gravy would've helped. If gravy was extra, it shouldn't be to save a bad side. Biscuit was dry. Packaging and presentation was great - but that's not going to save a sorry meal. My total was $27.74 including tip (yes - I still tip on takeout orders since someone has to package the meal). Their scammy text subscription thing never sent me a discount code after I registered my cell phone. So I paid full price for crappy food and pathetic portions. That's fine, I'm not planning on giving them a second chance. For better quality BBQ in the Garden Grove area - go to The Smoking Ribs or Smoke Queen BBQ. Ordered a build your own barbecue plate; the portions felt a little small compared to mom and pop shops but it was surprisingly good! The brisket had a little too much fatty pieces, but the burnt ends were some of the best I've had! We are open to coming back! Our waitress was super attentive! Our family visited the Orange location the week of Christmas during a Disney trip. We were given gift cards to this place and it was our first time trying it. We LOVED it! The biscuits and butter that come with your order are amazing. Cinnamon apple butter, I could eat that by itself! The menu is packed with options for everyone. They have everything from individual meals to family packs. It's a little pricey, but well within expectations. The staff was amazing throughout our visit. The manager even stopped to see how we were doing. Wish there was a location in San Diego, I would probably frequent this place regularly if they did! read more

I ordered BBQ from Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que today, and I want to start by saying the person who took my order was kind, professional, and helpful. Unfortunately, the food itself was very disappointing. Presentation-wise, it looked like I was given the last of several items. I spent almost $40 on a 2-meat combo and banana pudding. The combo included brisket, pork belly burnt ends, potato salad, and baked beans. The brisket looked visibly dried out and unfortunately tasted dry as well. The pork belly burnt ends were okay, but the portion size was very small for the price. The sides were decent, but the potato salad container definitely could have been filled more like the baked beans were. The biscuit with apple butter also seemed like it may have been the last one available. It was broken, dry, cold, and just tossed into the bag. The biggest disappointment was the banana pudding. It tasted mostly like whipped cream, and there were no bananas or vanilla wafer cookies included at all, despite that being how it is described on the menu. There was some type of crumble in it, but very little. For $9, I expected actual pudding, bananas, and vanilla wafers. It honestly felt like a waste of money. I normally don't complain, but this meal did not reflect the quality I expected for the price paid. I also reached out to them via their website and never heard anything back. I guess I jist expected to at least recieve an email acknowledging my email. But nope. The hostess that walked us to the table has no clue what time happy hour starts. Kenadie was our server and she was friendly but somewhat dropped the ball while serving us. She took our orders but never brought us our drinks and when the food was brought out she asked if we needed anything else we said yes our drinks. First brought to our table were the biscuits with apple butter which were probably the best thing we had. We ordered onion straws that tasted like nothing. My son's pasta was pretty bland. Hubby said his tri tip sandwich was also pretty bland the fries were ok. My meal was just sad I ordered a two item bbq plate with pulled chicken that was not pulled but was cut up into small pieces and the flavor was just unpleasant The tri tip was a super small and dry portion. I went to Costco and they had a few different gift cards on sale so I ended up picking one up. My fiancée and I chose to try this one. I personally think the service was good. The female waitress that serviced us was really friendly and made sure we were good. Also asked us when we got close to finishing if we were ready for the desert we ordered so it came out hot and it was good! The reviews threw me off a bit, but it was decent. I liked the atmosphere, it was old school looking but still felt nice. The food was decent, maybe a little dry to some, but in general it was pretty good. Stopped by for lunch, excited to try a BBQ place that I haven't been to before. Friendly staff. Unfortunately, the St Louis ribs and chicken were obviously re-heated from the previous day. Impossible that this had been barbecued earlier that morning. Perhaps this place is best visited in the evening, after fresh food has come off the grill. It had been a while since we went to Lucille's. We stopped in on New Years Day and sat at the bar top. It was happy hour. We had the brisket nachos and they were great. We also had a wedge salad which was a solid choice. I was curious to try the potato salad so we ordered a side. It was great. Now ill need to have that potato salad every time. It tasted like a classic backyard BBQ. We ordered a nice bottle of wine and enjoyed our time. Service was quick. Only downfall was a crying baby in the bar the entire time we were there. I thought it was honey butter, and surprised when she said apple butter, because the apple butter I'm used to is kind of like spreadable apple sauce. Regardless, I really liked it. I ordered the New Orleans gumbo, which was alright. If you're not obsessed with gumbo, you'll probably love it, but I have pretty high standards in that department, so for me, it was just okay. I wouldn't pay full price for it. I also got the southern fried dill pickles, which were yummy and had the perfect amount of batter and crisp. They were spears (not rounds) in case that matters to you. They come with ranch and some kind of mustard-y mayonnaise. The ranch was better in my opinion. Food safety is something I take very seriously, especially when it comes to chicken and meals being served to children, which is why I felt it was important to share our experience. My family and I usually gather at Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que for our annual family lunch, so this experience was especially heartbreaking and disappointing. During our meal, my nephew asked me to taste his chicken because he said something did not taste right. At first, I thought maybe it was just the temperature. However the moment I tasted it, I immediately noticed a sour, spoiled and very unpleasant taste. It was clear something was seriously wrong and it was extremely concerning knowing a child had already begun eating it. By the end of our visit, they brought him two fried chicken pieces as a replacement, but unfortunately the chicken was cold and was brought out when we were already boxing up our food and preparing to leave. To make matters worse, we were still charged. What was even more disappointing was the lack of concern shown. Neither our server nor management offered a sincere apology, showed any real urgency, or took the time to properly address such a serious food safety concern. What should have been a special family tradition turned into one of our worst dining experiences. Given the circumstances, this was incredibly disappointing and honestly may be our last visit. I truly hope management takes food safety, food quality and customer care more seriously so that no other family has to experience something like this. It was just a terrible experience when you're on vacation and hungry. My whole meal should have been free. Hmmm. I just realized that I never reviewed this Lucille's even though I've been here several times, so here goes. Although we often get takeout, the very pleasant ambiance" here is what I would call "upscale coffee shop" which is reminiscent of it's previous occupant, their sister restaurant chain, Hof's Hut. The food quality is always excellent. We are in California, so a bbq purist may not find Lucille's "authentic" but what they produce here is always to my liking. The dine-in combos are great but I think a nice and value option is the a la carte bbq meats and their "family-size extras. Service is always friendly and efficient. read more

We were craving ribs and stopped by our favorite Lucille's in Orange. Mondays are a hidden gem since it's much less busy than the weekends. We tried the Monday special with st. Louis ribs, and two sides absolutely delicious. The ribs were the star: meaty, not fatty, perfectly cooked, and falling right off the bone with amazing sauce. I love their sweet tea the best! and the spicy barbecue sauce so much that I bought a large one to take home, along with the onion straws. Service was fantastic !!! friendly, fast, and they even offered us biscuits and sweet tea to go. Great food, great service, and a cozy BBQ atmosphere that always makes you feel at home! I went to this establishment last night at 7:00pm. I was alone so I sat at the bar and ordered my dinner there. I ordered the full slab of ribs, sides were baked beans and fries. I ordered a coke for my drink and not an alcoholic beverage sitting at the bar and the lady right off the top said, "we are already starting off on the wrong end". Really!!?? I kept my mouth shut and let it go. I ordered my food as I described what I had ordered above and it was absolutely PATHETIC!! RIBS were cold and very bland!!! Not cooked enough. Just gross! Such a bummer, I used to like Lucille's, but they have really gone downhill. Picked up some to go food for Super Bowl in a whim, the food just wasn't good. None of us were happy. The burnt ends were the only thing worth having. The corn was street corn, should be corn on the Cobb or roasted corn, this is a bbq place. The garlic mashed potatoes were inedible, they reached of too much garlic and tasted terrible. I remember the mashed potatoes being good before. The biscuits are still good! We came to celebrate my MIL's heavenly BDay; she passed in Aug 2020. This is where she always liked going every BDay; so we've continued going on her BDay ever since. The macaroni & cheese was horrible. I took one spoonful & that was it. Not sure what' the fake cheese is; but there is no cheese in that Mac n cheese. They no longer offer greens. The rib tips were almost all fat. The chicken & baby back ribs were just ok. The biscuits used to be fluffy & moist,; these were dry & thin/crunchy. My granddaughter wanted the peach cobbler; which was on the menu; but was told it would be apples instead of peaches.... ???? She ordered it anyway; it was horrible especially the so-called crust. We have been to third location 3x's. The service here is excellent and our waitress, Mara, is always cheery with excellent suggestions on what to eat. This time we tried a two choice combo with ribs and sausage and a Brisket bowl. Loved them both. For those from Nawlins, Abita Root Beer is served on draft here! or bottle if you prefer. Lunches are very reasonable for the quality of the food and meats. The warm towel at the end to clean up is a nice touch too. read more
