We ordered 2 Cobb salads with blue cheese dressing. What arrived was the most tasteless salad of any type I ever had. The dressing was like milky water with a crumble here and there. We have been going to this location since it opened. The overall experience has steadily gone downhill. Food: basic American food. Nothing special, nothing horrible either. I like getting the Cajun seasoning on my fries. Their breakfasts are pretty good. Service: the waiters always do fairly well. Nothing extraordinary, but I've never had a horrible server. The hostess is usually up front, but a couple times we've waited 5-10 minutes before a host comes to greet (both of these times the restaurant maybe had 4-6 tables sitting, so pretty dead). The management is the most lacking. I've watched two different managers completely fail. Help your servers, help your front end staff, talk to some tables. In the 50+ times I've been to this location, never once has a manager approached our table. Never have they helped the host desk sit tables. They seem to stand around at the food window area. Ambiance: i sure hope that the owner of this location decides to do some remodels soon. The seats are getting in very bad condition, and the place is left filthy. I noticed several tables that had silverware or complete messes underneath while i was there last time. Again, there were maybe 4-6 tables sitting in the entire restaurant. We pulled off the highway to grab some food. There were a few options but the kid wanted hamburgers! This is a friendly spot for kids. Each kids meal gets a paper model car to build. That thing lasted 3 days before it had to go! We did have a 15 mins wait because we wanted to sit at a table which is fine. Food: pretty good standard hamburger with soft buns. Do not order cheese it's velveta which is super gross!! Lots of milkshake options! I want to recognize our server, Marcos! We had been seated for several minutes, about 6-7. Marcos came up and asked if anyone had helped us; we said no, and he was happy to take our order, despite that it was apparently not his section. We ordered and everything was fine except they served us a burger instead of a patty melt. (Ruby's Melt). Marcos immediately took it back and it was replaced within minutes. Ruby's diner is a popular food Franchise here in Southern California. I have been to at least three of the locations. I've noticed they have different things on the menu. Some make Binet and others don't. This location does. If you come on a Saturday morning you will catch the local car show. (Look for the Women of whip wash models) So it's perfect location. It'll be a good idea to ask for the price of the shakes. If you order a chocolate chip cookie dough shake for example, it's not really $5.99 like it says on the menu. Apparently, there's a a hidden additional charge for shakes with two flavors combined. We paid a total of $7.01. False advertisement is such a turn off! read more

I stopped to ear at Ruby's Diner 101 West Aewida Vista Hermosa in San Clemente at the outlets in San Clemente. This the first time I have been At this location. I had a Seafood Combo Plate; including; French fries and coleslaw. I drank a Diet Coke to balance my meal. A great combination of flavors. Diana had; A Chinese Chicken Salad; It was delicious. Diana drank a Diet Coke with he meal. For dessert; I had a Apple Pie a-la-mode; It was super duperly delicious. I thanked the manager for allowing me to take photos. We just had dinner there with my grandkids and was insulted by the manager Freddy. We told our waiter that we couldn't finish our half eaten turkey burgers because they were so salty. When Freddy came to our table, his response was that no one else complained. No offer of reimbursements, discount or for another burger. He just walked off. I think if he would've offered I would said no. Instead I went in to tell him that it was unacceptable that he inferred that our complaint was invalid and he said it was sad we wanted free food. For a Rubys Diner... But this one does not cut the mustard. The service was a tad bit slow as well as there was an issue with our meal and the manager was not notified. They placed runny chili on top of fries next to a sandwich which cause my sandwich to be saturated with the water juice from the chili fries... Took a few minutes to get a secondary waiter to take back sandwich and then more wait time for new sandwich. A manager walked by, female in red button up, and asked if leaving anything was informed her the sandwich was saturated, only to get a response of, "oh OK let me check on that"... Then, nothing, never saw again. Kids meals chicken strips were a little overcooked and dry. French fries were a tad bit undercooked. Took a while to get a refill on their drinks as well. To be quite honest, the burgers and fries aren't bad. They're not Unami Burger but they are good along with the shakes. What makes this place stands out is the interior design and decor, it's pretty much the reason to visit. The attention to detail is phenomenal! Even down to the Tiki room dining area.
