Has potential but needs better execution. My meatball sandwich was cold and my daughter's grilled cheese was burnt. The bread is probably too thick. There were also a lot of flies. I like the place. My husband and I stopped at Rudi's yesterday after cutting our Christmas trees and had the best sandwiches of our lives! We both had the turkey-avocado melt. The half-sandwich was perfect for me and the full was perfect for him. The bread was fresh, the cheese was perfectly melted, and all the ingredients were fresh. At $9 for the half sandwich and $15 for the full, we find that to be comparable to what we pay elsewhere. The young woman who took our order was very pleasant and one of the owners/managers chatted with us for a while (and, no, we're not locals). A couple of months ago, my son and I stopped at Rudi's and had the same great experience, but that time the other owner/manager chatted with us. I've been so excited to review this deli! We stopped by to grab a sandwich before heading back to Fort Collins and I'm so glad we did. The gentleman at the counter with the bandana and tattoos made our day! He was so helpful in making a decision and was really just a great guy to talk to (good at remembering names too). Rudi's is a good name for this deli since the woman taking orders was pretty rude. We waited an extra long time for our food. One of our salads was ordered without cheese but made with cheese anyway. We decided not to ask to make it right again because by that time we were pretty hungry. As another reviewer commented, the half-sized sandwiches were kid sized. Food was phenomenal, but the people suck. We had a group of 6 from Denver come in and started looking at menus. It's a small place, so we took up some room obviously. The guy at the counter proceeds to tell us that if "the locals come in then they take priority and you guys gotta move out of the way" ... um, ok? It was 10:30 in the morning and no one else was there. For the record, only one other couple came in while we were there. We had 3 toddlers (well behaved, mind you) with us and sat outside on the deck. We put two chairs near the deck entrance to block the kids in. Immediately, a lady comes out to scold us about how it makes them look like they're closed and if anyone one else comes, we need to move these chairs immediately. Like I said, only a single couple came and they took it to go. While I was ordering, the guy was a total jerk. I put two bags of chips on the counter and said "I'll take a #2 and #4 with these please" to which he stares at me and says "SIZE?!" so I said "oh oops didn't know they came in sizes..small" to which he says "SIDE?!" but he said it the exact same as 'size' so I misunderstood and said "oh a small is good" to which he yells even louder "WHAT SIDE?" I was so surprised at how rude he was, so I just pointed down at the bags of chips I put on the counter. I told him "sorry I'm new and this is my first time here, take it easy" and he just said "anything else?" Like okay I get it, tourists are annoying. But we were all respectful and polite and cleaned up after ourselves (and kids), so if this is just how miserable (or douchey) you are on a regular basis, then maybe you shouldn't be in customer service because you really suck. We told a few shops at the base about our experience with you and they all apologized on your behalf, so thankfully our first WP experience wasn't too overshadowed by a crap couple of people. As a person with a gluten allergy it is SO AMAZING to find a sandwich place that can accommodate the allergy. They were very knowledgeable about gluten and celiacs and took extra precautions to prepare the food and make me feel safe. They had gluten free bread that they DONT charge extra for and some of the sides were also gluten free. We also got gluten free peanut butter cookies. Success! read more

Food is the best quality about this place. The staff was incredibly rude to our party as we came in to a place we had never been and didn't know the menu. We were told since we weren't ready that "if locals came in they would take precedence." Isn't that how it works when someone takes their time to order?! Me and my husband went to the lovely little establishment in Winter Park on Sunday afternoon. I chose the avocado turkey melt, and it was delicious. They had a special sauce and some sprouts and the other vegetables were extremely fresh and crisp which I appreciated. My husband chose a different sandwich. I don't remember what it was called, but he said it was also very delicious. We both chose a whole sandwich and thankfully we did as in length it was about 6 inches in length.
