Carne Asada Fries
Desi C.

Me and my mom have come to this place on multiple occasions. My comes specifically for caldo soup and I venture out. For this visit, me and my mom used the app to order. I do recommend the app as it is a point system and you can get something free with enough points. I originally wanted a chimichanga meal, however it was very expensive. This was one reason for the star drop, even though I'm aware prices are raising everywhere. I ended up getting carne asada fries which were a little cheaper. The second reason for the star drop was the long waiting period. I expected it, being a previous customer, and knowing they were busy and make everything. However, this time felt really long. The food was all accurate when we arrived home. My fries came as a decent portion. The meat to fry ratio was okay, I would say a little bit more meat would have been perfect. But they do not give enough guacamole either. After a while, my fries were seeming dry and I couldn't eat anymore. I would say I prefer filibertos for carne asada fries. Overall, I will definitely be coming back. If you can afford it, I recommend a chimichanga meal. It is very filling and if you get chicken it is always tender and moist. It is always my go to order. I do not think I will get the carne asada fries from here again.

Stopped by for some chilaquiles. They were very delicious and the perfect size. Quick and very friendly service. Loved the decor and bathroom door murals.

The girl working the counter on the evening of Thursday, 6/22/23 (so her bosses see this) was absolutely wonderful. She is so friendly, kind and welcoming. Great customer service is so rare these days, so I felt compelled to let it be known that she is a gem. I would come back here anytime just for that reason. Also, the food and margarita were great too!

Inside

This local restaurant is a hidden gem! Bail on the mega franchises and support this local restaurant!!! We were amazed by the food and the nice atmosphere. The variety of delicious meats was impressive, and I especially enjoyed the fresh flour tortillas. The chili verde was full of flavor, and my wife couldn't get enough of the street tacos. She really liked the grilled chicken. Even the grilled shrimp was great. The complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch. Definitely worth a visit--come support this great spot!

Two 2 Taco Plate

I've eaten here twice and it has not disappointed! I had the beef and chicken tacos, both were crunchy and flavorful. Rice and beans were decent. The next time I had a beef chimichanga and that was also delicious. I will come back when I'm craving tacos again. Also the staff gives great recommendations!

Not good chips

Was craving Mexican and decided to order in from this place, which was rated high in UberEats. Food arrived quick and looked pretty...but was super bland. I got a shredded beef chimichanga. The outside was too hard, the inside was undercooked, the meat was super dry and had no flavor. It had the tiniest bit of sour cream on top. I also added guac, which cost $1, and there was maybe 2 small spoonfuls. The chips were not great either - super (too) crunchy, thick, and unsalted. For the 3 salsas that came with the chips, the red was good - spicy, green was good, and the 3rd was a container of chopped onion.... I assume it was supposed to be pico with tomatoes and cilantro, but it was almost all just onion. This one's a no for me.

Menudo was bomb!!!!

Really good inexpensive Mexican food! I prefer it over the likes of Filibertos. I absolutely recommend the Bodybuilder Burrito.

I was looking for a quick lunch spot on my way out of the valley to golf in Gold Canyon and saw…read morethis place on Yelp with the great reviews. Authentic Mexican food sounded perfect and I knew good things were in store when I arrived at 11:30am on a Friday and all of inside and outside tables were full. The inside is quaint but has quite a few tables. They also have tables out front in the shade (to call it patio seating may be a stretch, just simple tables and chairs on the exterior of the entrance). You order your food at the counter and I didn't study the menu ahead of time but the ladies taking my order were patient with me. I ordered a shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Nothing fancy for my first time as it's hard to golf on a full stomach! I found the only open table and then hit up the salsa bar. They have 4 or 5 different salsas/hot sauces and a few other goodies. I got a small cup of each sauce and all of them were quite good. My food was colorful, flavorful and just the right away to give me some energy without being lethargic. I could go on about a few other nice things but it seems most of East Mesa already knows about this place given the high scores on Yelp from a lot of reviewers. Nothing to prevent me from giving a 5* review at this time. I look forward to trying some more dishes in the future.

Carne asada burrito which came with chipotle cream sauce, carne Asada, and pico. Also beans and we asked for no rice. We both had rice on the side with beans. The burrito was nice and big. The rice was really good. And the beans were mediocre. The burrito was good, except the only bad thing I would say it was a little too greasy, and when you bit into it, all the greasy juice came out. I'm not sure if we would go back maybe, to try something different.

The parking lot outside was parking so we thought we may have to wait, but inside was not busy yet and we were seated immediately. I ordered the smoked chicken enchilada as I saw it was a Yelp favorite and it was delicious. I ended up taking half of it home since we all filled up on chips and salsa before our meal. This restaurant is decorated so cutely. I love how there is a Baja influence with all the surf boards but also southwest appeal. There is plenty of seating and tables for big groups. Even with other people yapping around us, the noise level was perfect to enjoy company. 10/10 would recommend.

Everything tasted amazing and was served fresh and in a timely manner. We will most certainly be back (and you should visit, too!)!

Update: the owner messaged me and told me to buy an entire chicken. Uh, maybe put some chicken in the chicken burrito? Update #2: The owner sure does like to argue with the customer back and forth. Now, he proposed that I order from Chipotle instead since they fail to give customer what one paid for. Update #3: The owner still going back and forth with me and now claiming I did not pay for the burritos. Not really sure what he means by that. But here is the screen shot of 2 burritos ordered via DoorDash. This is just wild.

Got the $30 Plato Campechano between 2 ppl (half chicken, half a pound of Carne, flour and corn tortillas, rice, beans from the pot, salsas, grill jalapeños, guacamole, limes, and radishes). Decent amount of food, although the chicken and carne were both a bit dry. I enjoyed the beans and rice, and the additional accouterments. Overall, good flavor and seasonings, just dry protein. Not sure if that would change on a busier day if fresh food was being pumped out, but would be open to checking this place out again!
