Ruffino's is pure Italian drama. The crabmeat cheesecake is sinful, the pasta is silk on a fork, and you must try the chef's award-winning Blue Crab Gnocchi that swept Fête Rouge this year. A Baton Rouge classic that still feels fresh and exciting.

Ruffino's never disappoints, but tonight they truly outdid themselves. From the moment we sat down, the service was flawless. We started with the famous crabmeat cheesecake, and it was every bit as decadent as people say--rich, savory, and unforgettable. For drinks, I had a Frank Family Cabernet and my fiancé ordered the Liquid Lust cocktail. Both were absolutely to die for! For our entrées, we split the chicken parmesan and a medium-rare filet mignon topped with Marsala mushrooms, plus a side of chili-glazed Brussels sprouts. Everything was so good we literally ate until we were uncomfortably full... because we simply could not stop. Every bite was perfection. Dessert was its own event. We ordered an espresso martini and the pumpkin spice tiramisu, and the staff surprised us with an extra dessert--complete with a beautiful "date night" presentation. Such a special touch! The atmosphere was romantic and gorgeous, and both the manager and the owner stopped by to personally welcome us and make sure everything was perfect. That kind of hospitality is rare and so appreciated. 10/10 -- we will definitely be back!

In red stick for business and meeting up with some friends i suggested somewhere new and Ruffinos was the suggestion Let me say Tuesday night and I made a reservation for 5:30 , glad I did as by the time we left at 7:30 the parking was packed - not a spot available! Environment is attractive, soft lighting , linens on tables, plentiful din ing space and an attractive bar first impression Ruffinos wasn't going to disappoint . That said dress code is casual , jeans and a nice shirt but definitely no baseball caps. Menu offers plenty of wine and drink choices and service was topnotch, available for any request with a smile (thanks Alexus) We started with the fried duck fingers , DUCK FINGERS - Panko and parmesan-breaded duck fingers with roasted garlic aioli- FANTASTIC Entrees we both had the fish Katie which Tuesday night was redfish. Fish Katie - Fresh Gulf catch, jumbo lump crabmeat creole meunière, hollandaise, steamed asparagus, Both portions were generous especially given the quality of the dishes. Ruffinos is definitely is a class above the rest and a destination spot for fine dining

The parking is excellent, the service attention is more than expected, and the staff helpful. The place is cozy and old school comfortable. The menu has been changed, somewhat from the published on line menu. The salads are cold and crisp. The shel fish very tasty but a tad too spicy. The Seafood Arancini is excellent. The Veal Michael was a little over cooked. Their Carbonara was a little pasty. Given that it was paired with shrimp - the garnish could have been toasted bread crumbs, rather parmigiana. For more Southern authenticity. The place filled up quickly, so I guess hot spicy is the palette The steaks and chops looked wonderful. However, Cajun-Italian Fusion has possibilities along the lines of Calabrian-style. That is maybe what they are working towards with the new menu. The addition of Calabrian chili or sauce to dishes would be interesting given the local penchant for hot sauces.

Great restaurant, very nice atmosphere and the food is really delicious. Drinks were awesome. I have to rave about the eggplant Parmesan it was cooked to perfection and the pork chop ummm cooked perfectly and very tender. Not one complete. Great Service and the management staff were great as well. Thanks for making my Neice birthday amazing

I attended a group dinner here . The atmosphere was nice and the lighting was perfect. The room was a little tight due to our party size. Our server was attentive and knew the group menu well. I enjoyed the fish Katie but the bread pudding stole the show.

Ruffino's has been our go-to date night spot for a few years now. The ambiance is nice, casual enough that it's not stuffy but still nice enough to throw on something sexy and be able to show out a little. The food is usually really good, we like how they change the menu relatively often, but sometimes we miss our favorites when they switch them out. However, the last time we went we fell in LOVE with the new chef. I got the veal chop with lump crab, which was a special, and it was honest to God the best meal I've ever had in my life. I believe they told us they would be adding it to the menu soon. Our friend Peter is usually our waiter he is fantastic. They always make sure we are taken great care of.

This is a Really nice place. Great experience for a steakhouse but overly priced in my opinion . The food was decent but nothing really stood out to me . Nice date night restaurant if you are looking to do something special .

Again, a great place to wind down with wonderful service and exceptional food. The drinks we started with were not short on spirits and I just love that. The bread is super fresh and complimentary. The ribeye was a tad undercooked for medium but they took it back with no problem and it came out fantastic. The osso bucco was so melt in your mouth good. I really think the seafood arancini was the star. And this is the best place for crème brûlée. Thanks for another amazing dinner.

We have been twice, both times at the location on Jefferson Hwy…read more I always get the ribeye because I actually like flavor. The first time my ribeye was just as good as any steak I have anywhere, maybe except for one or two other restaurants. The second time while good, not did not touch the first experience. The butter served with the steak browned, maybe too much, and overwhelmed the steak. Both time my Wife ordered the filet on both occasions. The first time the steak was pretty good but this past time it was overcooked and the char on the outside was bordering on burnt. During our most recent visit I started with the wedge and my Wife the sensation salad. My wedge was good but not in the top 3 best I have ever had. My Wife was not pleased with the sensation salad at all. The sensation was very small and not enough dressing. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese and Potatoes Au Gratin. The Mac & Cheese was very good. It taste and looked a lot better than most of the pictures posted on Yelp. The potatoes were okay, not great but not horrible. The complimentary bread was good however, not close to even being top 10. We finished our meal with the New York Cheesecake. It was okay as well, you can find just as good of cheesecake at a lot of places.

The first food I got was the complimentary bread. It was nicely warm and the butter was super tasty. Then for my main entree I got the 12oz filet mignon. I would say cooked it was about 7oz ish. The crust was delectable and it was super juicy and had a hint of movie theatre popcorn. That's a compliment btw. Filet - 9.1/10 For my side I got the Lobster 3 Cheese Mac. It was soooo good like top 10 mac and cheese ive had. Maybe im exaggerating but I dont eat mac and cheese too often so it was definitely a refresher. The lobster was good too but there wasnt an awful lot, so i would consider paying $8 less for just the mac. Then dessert. I got the creme brulee, it was okay. Not the best creme brulee and if I was coming looking forward to it, I wouldnt be too satisfied. It was good though dont get me wrong, just not top tier creme brulee. Id lean towards getting the other options. I also tried the Banana Foster Pudding, it was warm and sweet with hints of banana but also cold from the ice cream. Definitely better than the creme brulee, so if youre between the two id get the pudding. Last thing, If you say you're celebrating something, theyll give you a complimentary dessert. It was like a chocolate cake with ice cream and raspberries. It was good, just a basic dessert but it was free so cant complain. The service was okay, thats the low point of the review and why its a 4 star and not a 5 star. It seemed like they didnt have too many waiters, but the few they had were working hard. BONUS: Alot of people seem to complain about the wait time. Which if theyre talking about wait time with the waiter, I understand. But the wait time from ordering 4 entrees and 2 sides was 27 minutes, which isnt bad and it goes by quick. The 4 desserts took like 12-15 minutes i think. Overall, im pleased with my visit. It was a good way to fulfill my cravings that I had. Juicy steak, cheesy mac, and good dessert. Nice environment, solid service, yummy food. Overall rating probably like a 84/100. I had been craving a good steak and they were opened on a Sunday at 3 pm. The service was just okay. We easily waited over an hour for our food, I honestly think it was a bit longer than that. This was the worst thing about the visit as well as the very expensive pricing so I will give it a 3/5 stars. When I come to a steakhouse, I expect the service to be amazing but waiting over an hour was ridiculous. There was also only one other table with people, the restaurant was empty for the most part. I loved my steak. I got the Cajun ribeye steak and as sides I got the lobster Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. The prices were very high. Just my steak was $69. Most of the sides were overpriced and the lobster Mac and cheese for $21 only had three small pieces of lobster. The creamed spinach was good. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and relaxed and very fancy. The vibe was very intimate and perfect for a celebration.

We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

They are WELL known for their chargrilled oysters and have a great happy hour. Their Andouille Crusted Fresh Fish is one of the best bites in Baton Rouge hands down. It's a small complaint, but restaurants that let used drink glasses pile up on the table is a little annoying.
