I am so glad to have tried Rumi's during a very short trip to Atlanta, often I find myself wanting to visit my favorite ATL staples when here for a short visit but this has been added to my list of favorites! Our little party of 5 had the pleasure of experiencing a Lunch here, tapas style as we wanted to try so many different items on the menu, and nothing disappointed! We opted for several sharable appetizers or small plates including the grilled shrimp, corn ribs (highly recommend!), falafel and hummus. I loved that they started with fresh herbs, feta, olives and pita - so yummy! It's so difficult to choose my favorites but the falafel was 10/10 I'm still thinking about it. Persian food in a trendy upscale setting! I came here for the first time for a friend's birthday celebration and it was amazing! Every dish was on point. You know you are in the right place when you see freshly baked flat bread hanging off the open kitchen walls to cool! Where to start...well the flat bread is as mentioned freshly made and comes paired with a mix of walnuts, greens, olives and feta cheese. Be cautious to not get too filled up on this! We also got the Kashk Badenjoon which is sort of dip made of fried smashed eggplant which is so good! The lamb humusiya is hummus topped with lamb sausage which was another revelation! Yes eat this with that flat bread! We got three entrees, the lamb koobideh kabob, the chinjeh lubia polo (beef sirloin kabob and the roasted salmon. Wow! My first time at Rumi's and I definitely understand why it's popular! I went on a Tuesday night and was able to make a last minute reservation online. When you arrive you have to pay for Valet which is $2/3 i believe. We were quickly checked in and seated in 10-15 minutes. The decor was lovely and I loved the lighting and atmosphere. We ordered the Mirza Ghasemi which was the BEST! So delicious with feta cheese. Yum!!!! Definitely recommend this for the table. The corn ribs were flavorful but I don't know if I would order it again for $12. The lamb shank was very tender and served with dill rice and the Chinjeh Lubia Polo was delicious as well. I ordered medium but the meat was more well done. But still tasty nonetheless. The Black Rose cocktail was great as well! For your birthday they also give you free Baklava and Icecream! There was an incident while dining where the waitress dropped a wine glass on the floor and the glass went everywhere, but they were kind and quick to clean it up and replaced my plate. We decided to share a bunch of plates to try lots of different menu options, and everything did not disappoint. The meal starts off with complimentary pita and bites which was fun to try! What a fantastic meal, from beginning to end! The four of us shared several appetizers and kabobs. Although the portions were generous, we managed to eat every morsel. I normally love to attend Rumi's but after following the Yelp app to come here for lunch, I was surprised to see this place is closed until the summer. There is no information showing it's closed outside of a small sign at the parking entrance which I missed when I pulled in. I was met with some really rude and nasty construction workers while I was trying to turn around and head out of the area. I was unaware the building was closed and honestly I was shocked. The restaurant has amazing food but this just left a really bad taste in my mouth and I doubt I will return or choose a different location. The website and Yelp apps should be updated to reflect this location is closed until the summer. Don't go to Rumi's in Sandy Springs. read more

I have to give our server plenty of credit, Charity was amazing. She pleasantly, give us recommendations on what to try. She was beyond accommodating, she was truly a pleasant person to engage with. We started with the "Roasted Crimini and Oyster Mushroom" hummus -- the hummus was delicious and was elevated to an even more delicious level by the layer of crimini and oyster mushrooms atop the hummus. The black garlic and porcini broth rounded out the flavor profile perfectly. This was by far the best hummus I've ever had. And the pita bread slices were soft and fluffy yet sturdy enough to hold the hummus and mushrooms. For my entree, I ordered the chicken kabob with grilled vegetables instead of rice. The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the lemon saffron brine added a tangy kick to each bite. The grilled vegetables may have been my favorite part of the meal -- the serving was much bigger than I expected, and the mix of peppers, zucchini, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms was heavenly. I've had Persian food many times before and was looking forward to trying this restaurant. In my opinion, it's overcrowded and quite busy but the food quality is 3/5 for me. Let me tell you about the things I liked and didn't like. I liked their Old fashioned drink; it was great. Service is also pretty quick. Reservation are highly recommended otherwise you will be waiting quite awhile. We made reservations in advance. We were being creative and started with their appetizer combo of trying 4 different things. We didn't have this option on the menu but we asked the server about creating one because we wanted to try different things on the menu. See photos below. The appetizer was the best thing in my opinion and I enjoyed the eggplant, hummus and yoghurt the most. As for the entree, I went with joojeh kebab which comes with bone in hen, lemon, lime and saffron basmati rice. It was very bland for my liking even with their green chutney on the side, which I paid extra for. I just found the food to lack flavor altogether. If it weren't for the chutney and hot sauce on the side, I think I would have left without eating it. My husband liked his Chineh Lubia polo. See photos below. We came to Rumi's on a Sunday with a 6:30PM reservation to celebrate a birthday! There is a $2 valet parking. We were seated quickly but unfortunately it was quite warm. We had to ask for the AC to be turned on because it did get quite uncomfortable. Either way we got the pita and tasting platter quickly. To drink, I got the gin drink and it was phenomenal and fresh! For an appetizer, we got the wings and hummus. The hummus was creamy and delicious and the service was generous with the pita. The wings were cooked to perfection and delicious. For the main, we shared the chicken barb and a lamb kabob. We were going to get something else but they had a run out of quite a few things but either way. The chicken barg was phenomenal and juicy and the lamb was tender and cooked to perfection. The filet mignon kabob was also great and we had PLENTY of rice. Overall, the meal was great! Ate at Rumi's in SS for the first time since they reopened, I really like the ambience. It's a similar layout but brighter and it seemed a bit quieter than past visits. The food was, as usual, amazing. What stood out for us was out waiter Asser. Perfect level of attentiveness and pacing, he also gave the best descriptions of the menu to our questions I've ever experienced. Made suggestions for other items he thought we would like based on our likes and now we have to go back to try more things. I will ask to sit in his section when we do. Ii came here to celebrate a friends birthday and they never disappoint. The hostess was amazing because she had a lot of people checking in and she kept her cool, delegated and managed to get everyone seated and accommodated. We ordered falafel, humus with lamb , chicken, ground lamb etc. (see the pictures) Malik and Jonathan were great and they kept the glasses of water full and very attentive. This restaurant has their customer service training down and they know what they are doing. The food was amazing and barely anything left over. I think we only had rice. They offer gluten free chips for an additional cost. The restaurant is clean, open concept and spacious. You think that not many people can fit there but you would be surprised.if you are planning on attending during a weekend. You need a reservation or you will be eating at the bar. 1 star - Extremely disappointing experience with poor communication and hidden policies We tried to dine at Rumi's Kitchen (Avalon area) as a group of 6 adults and 5 children, and the entire process was frustrating and unprofessional from start to finish. First, when calling to make a reservation for our party of 11, they refused to book it over the phone and told us we had to show up in person instead. That already felt inconvenient, but I went an hour early to secure the spot. Upon arrival, they asked if we had a reservation--as if the phone call never happened! After explaining the situation, they said the table would be ready in about 30 minutes. I mentioned our full group would arrive in an hour, so they asked me to come back in 30 minutes, which I did. Finally seated, but they placed us at an outdoor table with no shades or umbrellas on a bright, sunny day--uncomfortable for kids and adults alike. I politely asked to switch tables, and the host returned saying they were "trying to accommodate" us... but then dropped the bombshell: there's a $100 per person minimum charge for a party our size. This was absurd. Even if we ordered generously (say, 2 adult-sized meal per kid), we wouldn't come close to hitting $100 per person on food alone. We spoke with the manager, who confirmed it's not a food minimum but apparently a charge related to "rearranging tables" or accommodating larger groups. Nowhere was this mentioned during the initial phone call, when we arrived early, or at any point before seating us. If they can't accommodate a family group like ours without these surprise fees, they should state that upfront so people can plan differently--perhaps go somewhere more family-friendly or with transparent policies. The lack of clear communication, inconsistent information, uncomfortable seating, and last-minute policy reveal ruined what should have been a nice meal out. We ended up leaving without eating, as the minimum made it impractical. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere if you're a larger party or have kids--plenty of other Persian or Middle Eastern spots handle groups better. Let's start by saying this is the best Persian restaurant in Atlanta. I came here for my anniversary lunch and made reservations through OpenTable. Me and my wife arrived and valeted our car for $2, very easy and convenient. We were promptly sat by the hostess near the large water fountain in the center of the restaurant close to the kitchen. The vibes are positive and I loved seeing all the casual business people meeting over an intimate meal. We ordered a kashk badenjoon which was perhaps the tastiest eggplant dish I have ever had. It was full of a smokey flavor and not too sweet. It pairs great with naan which you can see hanging in the kitchen from the dining area. Our waitress Fatimah helped me decide on a kebob and I went with the beef sirloin and it was so tender and delicious. Did not regret my decision one bit. The plates and servings are quite larger here. Unlike a traditional middle eastern dinner with large plates for sharing, each plate is served for an individual, so you'll get a large portion of basmati rice. In this case, I was able to split between both regular and bean and tomato. When I was a kid my mom used to make rice in a similar way from some traveling my grandfather did overseas. The green beans and tomato rice were cooked to perfection. If you are a rice connoisseur, you love the basmati here. Our waitress surprised us with a baklava dessert. My wife went to use the restroom and came back to find the deli ion baklava and ice cream. This was the perfect anniversary dinner. We've been dining at Rumi for years and have always enjoyed the experience, but our visit on Friday night was disappointing. The restaurant was packed, which is understandable for a popular spot, but the noise level was overwhelming--so loud that it was nearly impossible to have a conversation, let alone communicate with our waiter. Speaking of service, it was noticeably lacking. Our server seemed disengaged and made little effort to make things smoother, which is unusual for Rumi. On the bright side, the food was as good as always, but is it just me, or have the prices gone up a few dollars? Not a deal-breaker, but when prices increase, service should improve, not decline. The management really needs to address the acoustics--something about the ceiling just isn't absorbing the noise, making for a less enjoyable dining experience. First time, and we chose Mother's Day to try it out. The place was absolutely slammed. Well I would usually be annoyed at waiting 1hr to get seated with a three year old, but it was so worth it. Food was tremendous. Dolmeh, hummus, merquez Sausage ( a must have) for starter and then Sea bass entre was incredible, I had lamb kabob and we picked from Chicken barg and chicken kabobs for kids. But unfolding before me was an entire world of tastes and textures that shaped the culinary world that I live in. Rumi's reminds me of the rich Iranian food we'd experience in Tehran during my father's business trips when I was a boy. Everything seemed so abundant and aromatic. The only thing lacking is the men lining the boulevards sipping incredibly potent coffee and discussing academics, art, and of course politics or about the affairs of their day while playing backgammon. Came for dinner with co-workers in town. There were about 8 of us at our table. They sat us at a table that they said could comfortably fit 8 but we were not comfortable at all. I was advised that this was one of the best Persian restaurants in the country from an Iranian person, and the restaurant was truly lovely with impeccable service. The atmosphere was lively and elegant, and interestingly, the server will lay either a black or white napkin on your lap to most closely match whatever color you're wearing. The food was attractively prepared, and I assume it's a wonderful version of what it's supposed to be. I enjoyed it, but honestly did not feel like it was spectacularly different from any other koobideh I'd had before. I did like it better than the lamb shank, which I thought I would love, but I found the lamb nice in texture, but slightly bland in taste. The bread is freshly made and the eggplant was my favorite dish of the night. The restaurant was crowded on a weeknight, and I understand that this is always the case. We had a dinner reservation for a party of 10 + 1 baby at 5:30 pm on 2/18/23. The bread and sabzi that comes out before the meal is always sooo good. The bread is fresh and warm. The feta, mint, radish, and walnuts are the perfect thing to whet my appetite. We split 5 appetizers (tastes), 7 entrees (feasts), and subbed one rice for grilled vegetables. Subbing the rice, at the suggestion of our waitress, was the move because 5 rices would've been too much. The grilled vegetables gave us the perfect ratio. I would actually not get the Baghali again. I would sub the Adas or Shirin for the Baghali. I got the Passion Fruit Homemade Soda ($3.50) and wasn't impressed. They were quick and efficient and at the end of the night it was $2 plus tip for valet on a Tuesday night. FOOD + DRINKS Now for my favorite part. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Kabob and our other friend ordered the Chicken Barg. I love a good kabob, but I was a bit underwhelmed. The server did let us know the Kabob is a little dry and the Barg is juicer, so I knew was I was ordering. I enjoyed my friend Barg more, I will be ordering that next time. I highly advise ordering that if you want something juicer. The rice was cooked very well, and paired well with the tomato. I definitely had to grab a Togo box. The food was everything we remembered! We went for lunch on a weekday; highly recommend making a reservation around this time. We had to wait even with one. Our only complaint was it is very, very noisy. We are looking forward to the re-opening of Sandy Springs. If the newly renovated restaurant follows its tradition, the food and atmosphere will be perfect for a quiet dinner for two, or celebration with family or a group of friends. My husband really loved his lamb kebob and my son loved the koobedah (sorry for that spelling lol)... And I did like my salmon just fine but the marinade was just a bit EXTRA for me. I'm sure any "normal" person would have loved it (and my husband actually really did - I let him try a bite - which is crazy because he doesn't like citrus and this marinade was heavy on that), but there was too much citrus for me. I personally LOVE the taste of salmon by itself... But when you hit up Rumi's be prepared for proteins to be pre-marinated. I liked everything I ordered. The free pita bread with goat cheese (and other things) was pretty good. I loved the corn. I had the wings and grilled shrimp, all on the appetizer menu but perfect for me. The baklava was a real treat. I didn't think I was going to like it, but it was awesome. This location seems very busy. Maybe I would go back to the one at the Avalon. We had reservations and still had to wait a while. Came here for NYE dinner with some friends and their kid. The restaurant is lovely as was our server. The food was all delicious! My kebabs were so good! I don't remember the last time I had such tasty kebabs. My favorite dessert was the Persian ice cream sandwiches; will def have these every time I come back! The apps were all ok, and I'll try different ones next time. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu! read more
