Long before I started working at the Rustic Cafe my friend and I would eat there. Once I got a job there I have to say I love the place even more. This is the best company I have ever worked for. We've usually had decent experiences at the Rustic Cafe in Alamogordo but this last Sunday was the exception. Our waitress (KATIE) never brought us a menu and appeared appalled that we even asked for one. She obviously knew her favorite customers but was very condescending to us newbies. She looked confused when (without a menu) my wife tried to explain what we wanted but gave us a look like we were dumb shit red necks. Even at checkout she continued to act as it was our fault that we had a less than favorable experience. We're happy that other places in town are now open for breakfast so we don't have to be condescended to at the Rustic Cafe. BAD, BAD, BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Prior to his death, this was my Grandad's favorite place to eat. He usually went once a day. That is why writing a negative review hurts. But we (my husband and I) went. There were 2 waitresses one I later learned was a manager. We were sat, I noticed a burrito sitting in the window waiting to be delivered. No one ever came back to the table, 5 minutes later, I approached the waitress who was doing scratch-off lottery tickets and asked if we could get drinks I told her all we need is 2 iced teas. She brought the teas and took our order. Burrito is still in the window. My husband ordered a meal that comes with Chips and Salsa. 15 minutes later we still have no chips and salsa burrito still in the window, I loudly (bc now I am mad) say, "jeez, wish our waitress was worth a damn." She leaves. The other waitress (manager) comes to our table throws the chips on the table no salsa (thank goodness what a mess that would have been) and says, "Just so you know bitch you made her cry" We left and let me tell you my husband did pay for our teas even though we both had maybe 2 drinks from them. Being attached to a gas station made me very skeptical. Ordered the club sandwich. It was tasty but nothing to write home about.

Great little place! We ordered tacos and enchiladas. The homemade salsa was excellent, Spanish rice was awesome (perfect amount of spices), and the iced tea was fresh. The food is cheap and there's plenty of it. Our lunch was only $18.00! It's located in a truck stop, so you can park your big trucks. Staff is very friendly. Terrible. All good it's pre-cooked and waitress didn't write down order. Got every item wrong. Food wasn't even room temperature. This was the second place went to in Alamogordo. There's no place to eat in this town. Both are a Kent company own place. They know there the only place in town so they don't care. read more

Rip off. All u can eat pinto beans n cornbread. They don't give u much for carry out. Fries are pretty good.

Man... I want to rate this place higher! Flavors are real good! Menu is interesting... But biscuits were soooooo hard! 2 attempts and still couldn't get them softer than wood pallet pieces. A diamond in the ruff!! If you are looking for options and delicious food this is the place. I never would have expected this hidden cafe sitting along side a Texaco gas station would have such wonderful service and food! On our first visit we tried the "say cheese" burger and the country fried steak sandwich and enjoyed every bite. The people next to us saw the size of the steak sandwich and ordered the same! We returned to Alamogordo a week later and went back; this time we ate the grilled chicken sandwich and roast beef hoagie. Again, cafe style delicious!!! Now, the service: EXCELLENT!! Every employee that was inside that cafe makes you feel like family. Although we were not their regulars, their regulars actually get called by name and we learned they know about each others lives/family; the employees asked them how specific things are going. We will now make it a point to eat here when either in Alamogordo or just passing through!!! read more

Edible but not much else I can say. I had the hamburger steak, my wife had the mushroom swiss burger, except they were OUT of mushrooms, and onions.....Seriously??? No, I won't be back. read more
