The manager and hostess did not allow our child to enter the restaurant after we had already sat down and ordered our food. We were staying at the hotel. Our daughter ran upstairs to grab something, came back 5 min after 9pm. They would not let her join our table, since it was after 9pm. Since common sense obviously was not prevailing in this establishment, I opened the doors and let her in anyways. After we spent over $300 at dinner, the manager comes up to us and tells us we're not allowed back at this establishment. Worst customer service and hospitality we've ever experienced. read more

Lee was our server and he was wonderful! After a rough day, this was exactly what we needed to decompress. With all the craziness, I actually forgot that I am celebrating my birthday this week so I had marked it down as a birthday dinner on my reservation. It was such a pleasant surprise to see a birthday card and confetti on the table when we were seated. It had been some time since we were at a Ruth's Chris so we forgot what our go to items were. All we knew was that we wanted steaks. They had a nice prix fixe option with various surf and turf options but we opted to start with the shrimp cocktail. These were huge jumbo shrimps served with mixed greens and cocktail sauce. It was delish! I chose the ribeye and my brother got the bone-in strip. Both were excellent considering we got the grilled asparagus, truffle lobster Mac n cheese and baked potato. The accompaniments paired so well with the steaks. I made sure to save a little room for dessert but to my surprise, they came out with a birthday dessert that was bread pudding. I love bread pudding! Last night I took my wife to Ruth's Chris for our Anniversary celebration dinner. Upon arrival, our IDs and Vaccination cards were checked (which we greatly appreciated) and we were seated promptly. I had two of the Gamblers Old Fashioneds, since my wife was driving; they were substantial pours and equally amazing. I have dined at Ruth's Chris before and loved the spinach artichoke dip and stuffed mushrooms, which we ordered again since my wife never had them. Unfortunately, this time, the dip and garlic toast points were cold and the stuffed mushrooms were undercooked. We sent the dip back and after reheating, it was delicious. The T-Bone and Bone-In Filet were perfectly cooked to our preference and were excellent. Our waiter, Blake, was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable of the menu, made great recommendations, was very friendly, and extremely attentive throughout the meal. A beautiful hand decorated dessert plate was presented to us as the perfect ending to our meal and the bread pudding was very good. read more

Celebrated a birthday and it was a very nice touch to put some decorations on the table and also a greeting card. The salads and the sides where awesome hence the 2 star rating. The service was average but the main disappointment of the experience was my steak. We gave the waiter a heads up not to put in the steaks quite yet after we were served our salad and he said no problem. When we were finaly served our main course, my steak was almost well done even though I ordered it medium rare. For the price of the steak it should've been perfect but such I was very dissatisfied. read more

Our group reserved the small room and really enjoyed the space. It was quieter than the main dining area. The nice thing about this location is that is attached to the Renaissance, so super convenient if staying there. Great service and the food delicious. We started out with a variety of appetizers - stuffed mushrooms, calamari and ahi tuna (which was seated nicely). For my meal, I ordered the petite ribeye and had a side of lobster Mac and cheese. My only complaint was that my steak was overcooked a touch. Normally at finer steak houses they ask you to check when they present it, but they didn't this evening. The Mac and cheese was delicious, however. Just the right amount of creaminess and texture. Finished up my meal with the key lime pie. With all the reviews I read about this place, I walked in having high expectations. The food was..alright, but my expectations were not met. There was no wow factor from neither the food nor the service. I reserved the location to celebrate a birthday, marking that off for them to know. When we arrived and were seated to our table, we noticed it had little decorative flakes sprinkled all over, I thought that was sweet of them to do. At the end of the meal, we got a free dessert. The server was polite and informative, however he was very slow to service us. Going around other tables more often than ours. When we finished our meal, we sat there for a solid 15 minutes with our plates pushed to the side of the table, all finished up, but the server was no where to be found and the plates just sat there. Richard Sonn was our server and he was extremely professional and attentive. He checked on our table just enough to make sure we felt taken care of but not so much that he appeared at the table too often. He was very kind and welcoming (we were traveling in town for a wedding) and he even gave us free tickets the local botanical garden because he just so happened to have extra tickets that he wasn't using. We had a great first experience, we made reservations online to celebrate our anniversary and everything was great, when we arrived to our table it had confetti and a "Happy Anniversary" card for us which made it even more special for us. The food was hot and delicious. We had spicy shrimp for an appetizer which were full of flavor. One of our sides was a sweet potato casserole and it is a must try, it was one of our favorites!! We went to Ruth's Chris in Northbrook to celebrate our good friends' 50th wedding anniversary end of April 2022. We were very disappointed in a few areas. Our main courses were tasty but the sides we ordered came lukewarm and not up to the standard I thought Ruth's Chris food should be. We would have said something to our waiter but we didn't see him until we were at least half way through our meal. Other high end steak restaurants in our area help one celebrate special occasions. They do this with a personalized welcome menu and take a picture of your party for memories. We did receive a bread pudding dessert from our waiter with a "Happy Anniversary" said. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night during restaurant week 2019. This was our first time at any Ruth's Chris. It was very good. We decided to go kind of last minute (that morning) and there was almost no reservations available. If you want to dine here I would suggest making your reservation way ahead of time. We ended up with a 5pm reservation and were seated in the bar. I actually really liked the bar area. It was cozy and comfortable. It felt much less formal and much more relaxed. I think I would request this area in the future. We had decided to dine with some friends and since hubby's birthday had just past, they brought him a bottle of wine as a gift. Our waitress (just lovely) saw the bottle and asked if we wanted it opened for the table. The corkage fee is a very reasonable $15! Big tip bring your own wine and pay the corkage. It is so worth it! The restaurant week menu is good but very similar to some every day specials they have. So you can really come anytime and get a really great meal at a very reasonable price. For the restaurant week $48 I had a Caesar salad, NY strip, mashed potatoes and dessert. The star, of course was the steak. Generously seasoned and brought out on a piping hot plate it was delicious! All the others were okay but not standouts. The salad could have used a bit more dressing, the potatoes just missed the mark as did the creamed spinach that the table shared. Dessert was a cheesecake. The few blueberries weren't quite ripe and too tart. I did really like the toffee shards that garnished the cheesecake. I was pretty full at that point anyway so it was difficult to finish any dessert. We did have a lovely early dinner and got home in time to binge watch some shows! The food was so bad. Cooked poorly and under seasoned, had dirty shrimp and improperly cooked steak. The presentation of the food is so bad. Seen better presentation at restaurants who charge a third of the price as Ruths. The cleanliness of plates was bad. Spent 1.5 hours and left hungry and ended up having to send back half the food we ordered because it was so bad. Its really bad when a steakhouse cant make steak correctly. Definitely not a spot I'd recommended at this price point. There's definitely better steak or seafood restaurants to visit that offer better food and service for sure. read more

A good solid corporate steakhouse that delivers expected food quality at a typical high price. We both had the small fillet, with the Lobster Bisque as a starter. Sides were the creamed spinach and sweet potato casserole. For a desert, the special very mini cheesecake. These were all part of the Chicago Restaurant Week promo. Wine by the glass is ok, ours was a $14 red, a low end one. Plan on $100 a person normally for a modest dinner without wine or drinks. It's wise to make a reservation and it's located in a hotel and fills up very quickly after 5:00 pm. There's a huge following by senior citizens and family and they come out in full force for dinner. From Skokie, this place is so convenient and accessible - just jump on 94 and put the pedal to the metal. As for the food, I probably had the best NY Strip steak in my entire life, with the super hot plate sizzling with butter - it was truly the best. Come try it and find out what I'm talking about. Everything else just compliments the meal, the side orders - my favorites are the creamed spinach and sweet potatoes. Service is attentive, meticulous and reserved. Wanted to try this place out for Restaurant Week/ Birthday celebration. Made a reservation online without any problems. Requested to be seated in a booth on the reservation form and we did. Our reservation was at 8:30PM on a saturday night. This place was packed with people. Some were still waiting to be seated. We arrived just shy of 8:30 and got seated immediately. Atmosphere was pretty intimate but kinda loud. I would say it is a nice date night restaurant to go to. Especially if you want to dress up and look nice. Our waiter was professional and friendly. Gave us plenty of time to look through the menu without feeling rushed. We ordered the steakhouse salad, seafood gumbo, crab cake, filet and shrimp, new york strip with mashed potatoes. The gumbo was good but on the salty side for me. I really wanted to finish it all but it was just too salty for me. The crab cake was probably the highlight of the dishes. Every bite i took was filled with fresh, tender crab meat. The seasoning was great. I hate when crab cakes are mixed with red bell peppers because that just ruins the flavor for me. ( i hate bell peppers lol) But this one was great. Definitely recommend it , even though it's $19 for 2 lumps of crab cakes. The filet and the new york strip was cooked perfectly. We asked ours to be cooked medium. I had my filet cooked without butter and the new york strip did. Both were equally delicious. Obviously the one with the butter had more flavor in it. Mashed potatoes was smooth, creamy and delicious. I hate when some restaurants add tons of sour cream in their mash. Luckily, not here. I was pretty stuffed by dessert time. Because it was my birthday, they gave me a slightly bigger portion of the dessert with a candle on the chocolate expresso torte. (what a sweet way to end the night!) I'm a huge fan of sweets and had plenty of good ones but not so much here. The boyfriend didn't like it either. Food was good, service was great. The food here is SO great. Probably my favorite steakhouse to be honest. My most recent dining experience consisted of delicious food; however, they were out of two items that we wanted to order since they're both so good (Brussels sprouts and calamari). We were really upset but ordered the spicy shrimp instead and let me tell you - that dish is YUMMY! I'm so glad we ordered that - you should too! I created an account solely for this. My family and I have been coming to this location for probably 20 years now, and this past Saturday 1/29/22 will be my last time I step foot into this establishment location. I ordered a t-bone steak rare: It came late and completely well-done. I wasn't going to make a fuss, as the time we received our entrees it was already 9:30pm and we were seated for an 8pm reservation. When our server asked at the end about my uneaten steak I mentioned it and no problem but was assured she would go talk to chef and not to fret about it. Fine, we were having great conversations no problem. Well fast forward was given another t-bone to go, I'll reheat it per the instructions on the box and be happy another night at home, right? Wrong. Tonight was that night and at 450 for 5min as the label says I would have my rare t-bone steak reheated. But what I was met with was a 5 min heated, raw piece of meat. Raw. I don't know who cooked my steak, but for such a-what used to be- upstanding establishment apparently has a cook with a very big, but very weak ego. . . I'm not even going to dive into the health and safety issues sending me home with raw meat. I highly recommend thinking twice next time you want steak, maybe go to Morton's down the street. read more

I've been here several times and this time was really off. We came out to celebrate my birthday. Lots of places to choose from, but we hadn't been here, so we decided to try it. This waitress was terrible. No service etiquette and all she wanted to do was turn the table. It was bad enough, that we simply said no thanks to desserts or after dinner drinks. Pretty bad experience. She rushed us through the first half of the meal until I made it clear that we should not be rushed. To start, I asked how their 'New Fashioned' compared to an a traditional 'Old Fashioned' and she couldn't say. Wouldn't ask others. Just steered me to the Old Fashioned so she wouldn't have to deal with it. The appetizers were ok. Their spicy lobster appetizer is heavily breaded. Really hides the lobster. Great flavor but I wouldn't recommend it again. The truth is the bad service really tainted the evening. Ruth Chris knows how to do steaks. They did not disappoint. They were made perfectly to temperature. The sides, including spinach and mashed potatoes were good, but a little too salty. We also ordered the Lyonnaise Potatoes. We even had a conversation with the waitress about them and she totally forgot to put them in. They didn't come out. We must have rubbed her wrong because she ruined the evening and experience. We didn't stiff the tip, but we should have. We are likely not returning. No manager presence or oversight at all. read more

I'm gonna give it 3.5 star. It was my first time here and it really is tucked away inside a hotel. Hard to find I suppose. The entrance and lighting is dim and like a typical steak house (which I love) we had a reservation at 6, and were seated immediately on a Friday night. The ambiance was nice and our waiter Mohammed was very attentive and friendly. We had the crab cakes, Caesar salad and calamari for appetizers, all were good, the salad dressing could have had more flavor, I prefer a strong caeser dressing, this one was one of the mild ones I've ever had. My husband did say the calamari was heavily breaded, he doesn't like that but I do, so it's all about preference. I thought the calamari was one of the best I've ever had. We ordered the fillet, rib eye, and surf and turf as entrees. All were delicious. Nothing like a hot plate with a perfectly done steak. Sides - we had the grilled asparagus, creamed spinach and grilled onions which I meant to order sautéed onions, our server was fabulous with taking the grilled ones and immediately brought out the sautéed ones. Desert was cream brûlée, cheesecake and the chocolate duo. Out of all I think the cheesecake was the stand out, I love the traditional sour cream on top which is the essence of NewYork style. The chocolate cake left much to be desired. I love a death by chocolate kinda cake, this was small and mild not heavily chocolate infused. We had a few drinks and those were fabulous. The 50/50 is delicious if you like rye. The Moscow mule was fabulous. Had a lovely experience would def come back.
