I stopped by Ruth's Chris for dinner and happy hour while I was in the area and it delivered exactly what I was hoping for. The staff were welcoming from the start, attentive without hovering, and quick to highlight the specials before seating me right away. The ambiance was classic steakhouse through and through. Dark wood, warm lighting, and that familiar upscale energy you expect when you walk into Ruth's Chris. It felt polished and consistent with the brand. Most of the food was flavorful and well executed. Steaks and sides were on point. The only miss for me was the lobster mac. The lobster was slightly overcooked, which can happen easily with a dish like that, but it took away from an otherwise strong plate. I've visited this Ruth's Chris location multiple times, but revisited recently for the first time in a while. While it has the same delicious menu as other locations what sets this location apart is friendly service and (what I consider to be) the nicest interior decor of any Ruth's Chris in the DMV. Valet parking is complimentary here. It is a little weird to get to it, by turning through a small unpaved lot and then around to the front of the restaurant. But it's always timely. When we left the last time it was near closing time and the valet had all the cars up front so it was quick and safe for us to depart. Service is excellent with the wait staff friendly, chatty, and accommodating. You can never go wrong with any kind of steak (I got a filet Oscar), but the herb stuffed chicken breast is a hidden gem, if you're not a red meat person, like my dining companion is. I've visited this Ruth's Chris location a few times. It has the same "classy chain" vibes as other Ruth's Chris locations. Parking is available in the back of the restaurant, so you have to walk a loop around the other stores on the block to reach the front entrance. My most recent visit was for my partner's birthday. He loves steak and was very excited to order a medium rare tomahawk steak for his birthday. Unfortunately, it came out well-done rather than medium rare. We pointed it out to the waitstaff, who apologized, took it back, and replaced it with a true medium-rare steak, but I'm very disappointed in the waste of food. It's very disheartening and wasteful that this nice cut of meat was thrown out due to being overcooked. This was my first time coming to this Ruth Chris in almost 5 years. The last time I was here, I was severely unimpressed, from the service to the food. I'm happy to report that this location is under new management, and everything just feels different. Our waitress Jesse was phenomenal. Just a breath of fresh air & positivity. We came for happy hour but ended up getting a table and ordering a bunch of things. The Oysters Rockefella had cream spinach in them, and were easily a 10/10. We also got a dozen raw oysters... another hit. Ahi Tuna... delicious. The Steak Sandwich entree and a steak salad and we were blown away. Our party of 2 arrived around 5:45 pm and had a good time at the bar for happy hour on a Tuesday night. It took a little bit for the bartender to initially attend to us, but we figured out the food and drink items we wanted and ordered it all at once just in case they were swamped. The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. I really liked my Steak sandwich and the garlic bernaise that came on it. The Seared ahi tuna was small in portion compared to the steak sandwich but also delicious. I would get that as an appetizer in the future. And let me not for get there Manhattan, not to sweet but very smooth. I saw Cowboy steak on the menu as well as Tomahawk steak. Twenty-two ounces vs Forty ounces. This Cowboy went for the 22oz Cowboy Ribeye. Every bite melts in your mouth. The steaks are always well seasoned and cooked to order. I would definitely order that steak again. I've grown accustomed to receiving phenomenal service and delicious food at any Ruth's Chris I've visited. The location in Odenton did not disappoint in either department! Located in a very unsuspecting part of town, this Ruth's Chris is sort of off the beaten path, but it's actually the perfect location for such a lovely dinning experience. We had dinner reservations, so we were seated immediately in one of their huge booths. The room was nicely dimmed, some tables had curtains for privacy, and the entire restaurant screamed elegant! It was a birthday celebration for me and our server, Mark, made sure I was treated like royalty. Our food was phenomenal, the drinks were delish and the service was truly out of this world. They offer valet service, but parking is available near by. The bar seems to be a pretty lively place to come for happy hour or to catch a game. Delicious food with consistently great service! This is a late review post... we go to this location often whenever we are craving a good steak over the last year, this has become a staple and it has never disappointed! We had reservations for an upscale restaurant in DC for our anniversary but with inclement weather pending we did not want to drive too far, and pivoted to a consistent fav without a reservation and it was still perfect! The fillet is normally my go-to which is amazing and always cooked to perfection, but this time I went with the ribeye, cooked medium. And my hubby went with the Tomahawk, medium rare. Both were juicy, buttery, perfection. The lobster mac and brussels were also 10 out of 10. With apps of oysters and a chopped salad, that I will now order each time I go there, we were absolutely stuffed and had nice to-go boxes for our steak and sides, which made a great lunch the next day! The only negative, was originally I ordered an old fashion special. When it arrived it was watery and you could tell it was premixed which made it flavorless, diluted and not bourbon-forward as an old fashioned should be. There was 3 of us. We had reservation through Open Table. A couple arrived and did not have reservation and hostess advised only area is the enclosed, heated patio. And we were seated in that location vs the main restaurant. Our table was in an area where the table was too tall chairs and the cushion pad was a joke. I was lucky and got an extra cushion to make me tall enough to eat the meal. My 6 foot husband sleeves dragged in his dishes. None of us order the Turkey meal as you got 1 side and nobody liked any of them, but the mash potatoes. So we decided to order steaks out of the 3 ordered 1 was okay and the other 2 were really bad both tough. The asparagus was tough, au gratin potatoes was chopped small and then just poured cheese over them put in oven to melt. The sides were $17 each. One person order 1 drink that was sent back as it was all milk. Two of us had a bottle of wine that was way overpriced. We drink the brand of wine in many restaurant this was the highest price ever. Speaking of overpriced they raised their prices across the menu by at least $2. We then order pumpkin cheesecake that was really a small cheese cupcake with a teaspoon of whip cream on top. I'll start with the good, the quality of the food was great but that's where it ended. We had a 5:00pm reservation, for 3. We arrived a few minutes early but weren't seated till almost 5:30, something that has never happened there before. Once seated we waited for a good 10 minutes for our waiter to come to the table. We placed our drink and appetizer orders. Our drinks were just sodas and one bar drink - again probably about 10 minutes to get just the sodas. Once we got the appetizers we waited and waited to place our food order. Then we sat with dirty dishes and empty glasses for probably about 30 minutes. A man in a suit walked past us 3 times looking at our table. We were assuming it was a manager but not sure. After the 3rd time he had a very discussed look and within 2 minutes our waiter showed up with refills and started cleaning the empty plates. Once we placed our food order we continued to wait. The whole time we saw our waiter make multiple stops At the table beside ours but never seemed to see us sitting there. Not once did he acknowledge that it was taking long for our food order even to offer more fresh bread or anything. And when we finally were able to grab him, he seemed more interested in the football game on TV than he was with serving us. To end it all we ordered desserts to go, and literally had to ask twice for them. My husband had eaten the Thanksgiving special which was supped to come with a small carry out for later which we never received. All in all it was a very subpar experience. Our reservation for 5:00 and we didn't leave the restaurant until 7:30. Yes it was a holiday but I expect more from an upscale restaurant and one that we spent over $340 for our meal not including the tip. read more

First time giving the Ruth Chris around here a try. I have a few favorites in different states so there was definitely going to be some comparisons. I love that the steakhouse is pretty much kind of secluded and not a lot of food traffic, meaning plenty of parking! The host was so friendly when opening our door and seemed to really enjoy being there. The inside was much larger than expected and the bar looked delightful (future HH spot!) Our waiter was very attentive, friendly and was sure to check up on us regularly. We already knew what we wanted so the ordering process didn't take long. We ordered our go to which is the Tomahawk, mash potatoes and a Caesar salad, I got my usual red wine to top off the taste(Cabernet). However, I took my daughters there on Wednesday night to celebrate their birthday and the experience was not what I expected. All of our meals came out under or over cooked. The GENERAL MANAGER, not the restaurant manager (that's says a lot in of itself) at the Ruth's Chris location in Odenton, Md. attempted to justify allowing food servers to use their bare hands (no gloves or picis) to garnish (lemons, cherries, olives, dried fruit etc) diners drinks. Why are food servers garnishing drinks and NOT the bar tenders? The GENERAL MANAGER did absolute nothing after he was informed, and continued to justify the behavior as if it was inappropriate for a customer to report an observation. There's no justification for POOR HYGIENE at any restaurant, let alone POOR HYGIENE at a restaurant which is suppose to represent fine dining. I will not dine at this Ruth's Chris again. read more

We are frequent Ruth Chris patrons. For Valentine's Day, I decided to order curbside to avoid the heavy crowds and have a private dinner at home. I ordered the following: 1. Cowboy Ribeye (medium well) 2. 11oz Filet (well done) 3. Sweet potato casserole 4. Mashed potatoes With tip, our bill came to $200. The wait time for curbside was extensive (as expected during a busy night like Valentine's Day). When I got home with the food, both steaks were grossly undercooked. My husband doesn't mind a little pink; however, I cannot take any pink on my steaks hence ordering it well done. Imagine my disgust and surprise to cut into a raw steak. I called and spoke with Jake Mitich (general manager) and explained that the filet was raw instead of well-done as requested and ordered. He offered to have another prepared but I refused to drive 30+ minutes back to Odenton to pick up a replacement steak. Therefore he said he would refund the cost of the filet back to my credit card which I greatly appreciated. I will be checking daily to validate the cost of that steak is refunded as he mentioned it could take up to 72 hrs to be reflected on my statement. It has now been 48 hrs and NOTHING has been refunded to my credit card yet. To say I am extremely disappointed is an understatement. Even on busy nights, there should be a process in place to check the food for proper temperatures ordered. While there are some people that may enjoy raw/bloody steaks, some people such as myself cannot stomach the sight of uncooked meat. Unfortunately my appetite was ruined and I couldn't enjoy Valentine's Day dinner with my husband as planned. This is now strike 3 for this location as far as my family is concerned. - The first strike was last year our waitress left a note on our check about making sure we leave a tip. I politely told her how she can block blessings doing that because I had planned to over tip her. She apologized and we let it go because we understand that ppl make bad choices sometimes. - strike two was I came in to sit at the bar to have some mom time alone and before I could get in the door good I was being yelled at to remove my winter hat (hats aren't permitted inside this location). To be clear, it was freezing outside that evening and I was wearing a winter hat. Before the staff greeted me upon entry (I wasn't even at the check-in counter yet), I was told that I needed to remove my hat. - strike 3 is ruining a Valentine's meal that was intended to be low key and romantic at home. We will take our hard earned coins elsewhere next time. Definitely no longer the upscale dining experience it used to be once upon a time. We went for Thanksgiving. The steak was Fine and undercooked as usual. I expect that. I did not expect to be waiting on the server all day. We waited on him to take our order. We waited on him to come initially and give us a drink. We waited on him to get everything for an extra 12:40 half hour, and we were seated on a 12 o'clock reservation. My girlfriend got up and asked the bartender to find our waiter for us, at one point. This is the first time we've been to one of these places in 12 years and the last time we had an unbelievably bad time in the DC location. My experience here fell far below the standard I have previously known Ruth's Chris to hold in the past. This was my first time at the Odenton, MD location as I typically frequent the location in Pikesville, MD. We arrived approximately 9 minutes prior to the reservation time of 8:30pm but were not seated until approximately 8:45pm. I normally would not call out an annoyance like this but the issues, but it was indicative of the theme of the overall experience. We ordered one cherry old fashioned and one traditional old fashioned. Neither tasted as you would expect an old fashioned to taste. They did not have block ice cubes and the smoker was not working. We ordered lobster bisque as an appetizer. It unfortunately arrived to our table with a taste as if it was burned or sat in the pot all day. After taking account of all of these unfortunate things, we decided to end the meal there, pay and leave for a better experience at The Prime Rib. While I will presume this experience was anomalous to the overall Ruth's Chris offering, I will not return to this particular location. Disorganized is the adjective best describes our experience. Last night I had the worst Valentine's dinner with my wife. Ever since my first review there always seems to be some issue here, even when the overall dinner was positive. This time, there were no positives. They added a bunch of tables throughout the restaurant, which had people literally sitting back to back. I made my reservation and asked to specifically be sat in the main dining area (because last time they tried to sit us in some rinky dink back room with kids, and you might as well not even been at Ruth Chris). They say my wife back to back with another table and my chair was in the main walkway outside of the kitchen. The was the highest traffic area in the whole restaurant. Staff and guest were swarming behind me, and the staff was using the countertop right next to me to fold silverware. My wife and I (especially me) are really tall. I don't need all the space in the world but there were to completely empty tables to the right of us by the wine bottle display. Just sitting in my natural upright position I was about 2 feet back into the walkway, and people were bumping my chair and squeezing behind me. Staff would gather 5 deep right next to me and talk. There was no intimacy at all. It took a while for our server to come, but she came and got our drinks and appetizers. I got water pretty quickly, but my wife's drink took time. Out appetizer came out in a decent amount of time, but nobody bothered to bring us bread. When the girl finally comes she acts surprised and asked if anyone had brought us bread, obviously not. So to recap, we arrived at 9:30. we were sat around 9:35. Our waitress came at about 9:50. We got our appetizer around 10:00 While eating our appetizer we ordered our food at about 10:05 and the salad too about 20 minutes to come. Our server actually had to go grab it from the back, which she also did our drink, and appetizer. WE WOULDN'T RECEIVE OUR FOOD FOR AN HOUR. It was like 11:10 when our steaks came out on piping hot sizzling plates. Which would be cool if we ordered plates. The steak however was cold to the touch... We both ordered medium rare Ribeye steaks, the meal was like 94 dollars a plate. I got potatoes au gratin and she got cream spinach. The only thing that came out hot was the potatoes, and the plates. Our server has a manager come and this guy wants to resolve the situation by putting our medium rare ordered steaks into a broiler for 7 minutes to get the temp back up, and most likely turn them well done. He offers this several times, and then seemed upset it's not what we wanted. He ignores the fact that we're telling him that we've ready waited over 45 minutes for our food. He stomps off with my wife's steak, and never returns... By this time is 11:30 and we've been here for 2 hours, ON VALENTINE'S DAY, and we're now leaving without eating, and on top of the horrible service, they still charge us 24 dollars and some change for our appetizer and drinks. We still tipped our waitress...smh! I don't know if our waitress Taylor was having issues with the staff, or someone. Because they would not help her, and people who came after us received their food, ate and left in the time it took Us to eventually not be served at all. The staff worked as a team to bring out food to every table but hers. So It's hard to even blame her, and the last time we came there she was wonderful... At the end of the day we spent 2 hours being ignored only to leave being served drinks, appetizers, and salad. I was completely embarrassed, and my wife and I had to leave still hungry, and unable to go anywhere else. Like really, who comes to a steakhouse to pay 200 dollars for reheated steaks? The fact that the steaks were cold to the touch means that they sat out long enough to be lose temp, and the fact that they would then slap them on a smoking hot plate and then serve them to us, is not okay. They wasted what was supposed to be a special night for my wife and I, and showed absolutely no remorse. If we were VALUED customers you would think that they would've done everything in their power to make it right. Especially when we chose them for our special evening. There was no accountability for them completely dropping the ball, and the manager was upset as if we were the issue... We were able to look past unfavorable seating in the past, but this type of service should never happen to anyone especially at a place like Ruth Chris. Went here for my birthday dinner. Things went well, I guess. Our food was pretty good, but took forever to come out. I was presented with a complimentary birthday cheesecake, but I don't care for cheesecake and was bummed that they didn't have any cake desserts on the menu. Also, one of the servers dropped an entire pitcher of red wine or sangria, not sure which, but it was right behind me and it was extremely loud and startling. I don't know how I escaped having red stains all over the back of my pants and shoes. Birthday luck I guess! Actually, the last three times I've dined here our dinner was interrupted by a loud crashing sound. A server dropped a very large bottle of wine and another dropped an entire tray full of glasses. I liked the ambiance of being in a booth with the adjustable curtains. Very sexy. The overall service was spotty. The service team was never really on top of their game from the start. Beginning with the long wait to be seated. The staff would disappear and then reappear with good service and then disappear again. It was weird. Servers would walk by you giving you no eye contact, almost praying that you don't ask them for help with anything. Unfortunately, I had to grab one of them for some more water and a beverage after our regular server said she'd be back and was gone a while. I've eaten at Ruth's Chris in Vegas, Portland, OR, Baltimore, DC and Orlando, but this is my most forgettable experience. When I'm paying this kind of money, I should not be looking for someone to help me, especially when it's not even busy. I would like to give the manager an A++ for the New York strip he replaced for my partner who ordered the pork chop. My partner loved the texture and overall flavor of the pork chop, but it was just too salty. The manager slipped in the NY strip to make up for it and also took the chop off the bill, which I was not expecting. My stuffed chicken and mashed potatoes were yum and so were my family member's crab cake, Caesar salad and French fries. Will I be back? I'm just not sure. read more
