Extremely Disappointed - Warranty Ignored Despite Multiple Follow-Ups…read more I'm genuinely disappointed that I have to leave this review just to try and get a response. In 2023, I purchased a large custom awning for my backyard, paying over $13,000. I was told it came with a warranty, which was one of the main reasons I chose this company. In April 2024, I noticed one of the corners had started tearing. I called the company immediately. The receptionist, Pam, mentioned she was retiring and gave me John's direct number. When I spoke with John, he said he needed to verify my warranty. A few days later, he confirmed it and told me that Brian would be contacting me to take care of the issue. I spoke with Brian on May 6 and even included a screenshot of our conversation. Since then, I've followed up multiple times via phone and text. He promised to schedule a tarp pickup--but never showed up. No updates, no calls back. Completely unreliable. As a repeat customer--having purchased not one but two awnings from this company--I expected better. The quality of their work is good, but that means nothing if they disappear the moment you need warranty support. If you're considering working with this company, be warned: they may deliver a great product, but if something goes wrong, you're on your own. The lack of communication and accountability is incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. I truly hope this review gets their attention, because I'd still like to see this handled the right way. If the company makes this right, I will gladly remove this review. But as of now, I cannot recommend them.

This was very meaningful and made a big difference to set AC apart. The only less that optimal things I would say Is that it took a very long time from order to installation and there was very little follow up after the order was placed - I had to call to get an update status and coordinate scheduling. Although not a deal breaker, I would have loved just a bit more info for planning etc. Finally - as with everything that is actually good quality, the cost was not super low. During the recent windstorm we forgot to retract the awning and it was damaged. I first called the original installer, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The first thing they told us was that the damage wouldn't be covered because we didn't retract it during the wind storm, and the customer service was extremely rude. It also reminded me how difficult it was working with them in the first place, they gave us the runaround for almost 6 months before the original installation. After that, I reached out to Where Shade Is Made, and the difference was night and day. I spoke directly with the owner, who assured me I would get a call Monday morning to schedule the repair. Sure enough, Monday morning I received a call from Jimmy their GM, and from that point on everything was smooth and professional. By the very next day our shade was repaired and working perfectly again. Even better, Jimmy let us know that the repair didn't require as much work as originally expected, which actually made the final cost lower than the quote. We went with a roof mount install. The cover doesn't fully extend over my roof line so there's a weird gap that 5 inches of roofing would have made a huge difference. The install took 3 days but left my backyard FULL of metal shavings, I'm talking all in my brand new turf and all in my pool and in the concrete floor grooves. I asked them if they had a shop vac instead of a blower so they could actually pick up the debris instead of just blowing it around and they didn't. So I spent quite a while picking up metal pieces since dogs and kids usually run barefoot in the yard. I had some outlets installed that were placed in nice looking weather boxes but I was shocked they weren't GFCI. My neighbor used this company that's how we made contact, she just had to have the gutters unclogged professionally since the top is open and flat it collects leaves and other debris, so good to note I'll have to figure out how to routinely clean up there to avoid the same issue. Was this worth the price? - meh time will tell, but so far this was the least exciting part of our backyard reno.
