Last year, my boyfriend and I had the best meal at Ryce. We came to Crested Butte a year later and was excited to go again to Ryce... Well let's say our meal was mediocre at best.  We got a shrimp appetizer that was soggy...not cooked enough and the chicken in the pad thai was very soft and didn't taste right. Sure enough, I was up all last night sick... Also, our server had such an attitude...she was blonde middle aged.  She literally not once said thank you or gave us a welcome when we sat down. She was efficient, filled water but definitely did not feel welcome and couldn't wait to leave. Definitely will not be back. 2 stars for clean restaurant and cocktails plus bartender friendly. Fantastic spot for dining. Windows opened right to a stream running besides the building. Great decor and service was stellar. The food was excellent and I can not wait to get back there again. It will be a hard decision between this and secret stash pizza in the future. read more

Ryce has some of the best Chinese and Thai food I have ever had! I started with the Tom Yam soup which was like a traditional Thai Tom yum, it was spicey and sour and everything I want when I'm cold or feeling sick. My husband had the Chinese hot and sour and enjoyed it. I ordered the basil chicken for my entree and it was soooooo delicious! I love a Thai dish full of veggies and this was full of them! My husband got the broccoli beef which was tasty as well. These entrees are very large so be prepared to share or take some home. I wish Ryce was in my town and not just Crested Butte. read more

Visiting Crested Butte on vacation and wanted something different! If you like edamame this is the place to get it!! For our entrees I got the orange chicken and my boyfriend got the sesame chicken, both were phenomenal! The plating is great and everything comes out very quick. We all ordered drinks from their martini menu being skeptical because that's usually not my first pick, but they were one of the best drinks we've had during our stay. We went to Ryce for Valentine's Day and loved it. We were lucky we got there at 5pm because it was packed with a long wait list by 5:15. The two of us ordered a curry dish and pad Thai and had left overs despite being very hungry - the pad Thai portion is VERY generous and it's delicious! Cute place on the inside with very friendly staff. We ordered food To-Go -4 entrees to go with appetizers. While the portions were large, the food was very disappointing! No one finished their meals and we have teenage boys who love Thai. All entrees had no flavor and were dry. Wait was a bit longer than expected (few restaurants open on a Monday & a group of 6, so not unexpected--make a reservation!), but service was very fast & friendly. The egg drop soup was not good, but everything else we ordered was absolutely amazing! The hot n sour soup was maybe the best hot n sour I've ever had, absolutely delicious. The steamed dumplings were devoured & my son wanted to drink the sauce, & I couldn't blame him. We also ordered the beef mixed stir fry & left a few molecules behind--all my kids loved it. The sweet and sour chicken was also a group favorite--my youngest couldn't get enough. The lo mein noodles were also highly excellent. Delicious meal and great service. We arrived when the restaurant was a little busy, but we got two seats at the counter. Lucky... Before long, the whole place was packed. But food came out quickly. Drunken noodles, Kung pao vegetables, and satay chicken, and a delicious cocktail with Midori melon liqueur. There are many great restaurants in Crested Butte, and we were there for vacation, but this could easily be a place we would go back to often if we lived in town. read more

I love to support an Asian business, hence my decision to come here while dining solo as the rest of my family went skiing. I walked in and couldn't find anyone to seat me, despite the restaurant being fairly empty. I finally got seated and on a cold spring day, I was very looking forward to the comforts of some pad thai. I was immediately skeptical when it was brought out in a bowl with what looked like noodle soup, and garnished with orange slices. While there were crushed peanuts, the dish lacked the texture from fresh bean sprouts, among other problems. I barely made a dent in the bowl, and couldn't force myself to eat anymore. While the portion was big and priced relatively low for a meal in crested butte, it truly was no bargain as I found the dish inedible. I was very disappointed. The high reviews from other patrons, I suspect, are from a lack of authentic Asian dining experiences, because this was far from that. I speculate that the business gets by by being one of maybe 2 Asian cuisine options in town. Overall an underwhelming experience. I will not be back. read more

Delicious food with HUGE portions. It may seem a bit expensive just viewing the menu but with my leftovers I probably have about 3 more meals which totally make it worth it! The environment is nice and clean. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly and even though it was during spring break and packed with people our food came out rather quickly! I appreciated getting a table, but it's right next to a very drafty garage door, so we couldn't take our coats off. Crested Butte, 2019! If your family is on the clean side eating this restaurant is the place to go. They serve steamed vegetables and chicken, seafood and beef you can order without sauce with veggies and steamed rice without giving you the death look! Food was great! We came in with some friends and tried a bunch of dishes family style. All the dishes were great: Kung Pao chicken, shrimp curry, orange chicken and drunken noodles. They have a good lunch menu too. Just had the Fourteener: for $13, it was a good portion size of chicken, shrimp, beef and scallops. Flavor is really good. Summer in Crested Butte doesn't get much better than sitting outside at Ryce's patio area. Love the elegance of inside but an order of spring rolls and peanut sauce while looking at the street life is a great afternoon. Portion sizes are huge even for a guy like me. They're a bit unorganized in terms of the front of house. We got there with 8-10 ppl waiting at the front of the restaurant to be seated and half of the tables empty. When we got seated it took about 10 minutes to get acknowledged by our server. After that, it was fine. The portions are large and it's your standard asian/chinese/thai take out menu. The food came out fast once we were able to be seated and it was moderately priced for it being CB. The miso soup was fair but lacked flavor and wasn't that hot. The crab rangoons were good. Awesome food! We ordered Pad Thai and Garlic Chicken. Both were flavorful and great portion sizes. We had to take leftovers. We enjoyed a Malbec wine as well. We enjoyed our meal at Ryce Asian Bistro. We were promptly seated, and got our drinks quickly. For starters we got the soft shell crab, which comes with 2 large lumps, perfect for 2. The portion size of the main dishes were massive! My wife's noodle bowl came packed, and I got the orange chicken, which I could barely finish. The food was tasty and came out quickly. She also loved her mandarin martini, which was incredible. The final bill was very reasonable and it was one of the better meals that we had our entire trip. I'd definitely recommend! This is our second annual visit to the Butte and one of the "musts" was a return to this restaurant. Best kimchi in Colorado, sweet setting on the creek, kind and attentive wait staff. Everything we've eaten here has been fresh, tasty and nicely presented. Try the Mongolian beef. read more
