What's not to like about Rye; good food, eclectic atmosphere and attentive service. My colleague said, I'd love this restaurant and she wasn't wrong. I ordered the Moroccan lamb sandwich...not like any sandwich I've ever had but no less delicious! The lamb was tender and the flatbread was fluffy...the peppers, hummus, feta and tzatziki sauce rounded out the mediterranean flavors of this sandwich. Deliciousness in every bit! Was literally in Eugene for a handful of hours and other than meeting with my colleagues, I'll remember Rye and look forward to come back.

Went here on Valentine's Day a few weeks ago and I was genuinely blown away, one of the best meals of my entire life. My family loves Creole/Cajun cuisine, but I was genuinely blown away by the gumbo, definitely my favorite of the night. The service was great, we had no problems at all. It was very well decorated, we came later at night so it was pretty quiet and overall everything was amazing!! Will be back.

We tried Rye for the first time on a friend's recommendation for a special occasion dinner. The restaurant has a rustic lodge-like feel and not a lot of space, so reservations are highly recommended. We were seated right on time. The menu is short and changes periodically, and since many ingredients are locally or regionally sourced, most selections are fresh. My dinner partner ordered a decidedly German sausage plate with a French sounding name: Choucrote Garnie and a salad. I opted for the catch of the day, served on puréed vegetables, and a cup of the vegetarian soup of the day. Both meals were nicely prepared and presented. Prices for dinner entrees range from upper $20s to mid $40s, plus sides. I didn't see many vegetarian options. Service was mostly efficient but not friendly, and the tables/booths are close enough together to overhear your neighbors talking throughout the meal. Not the most pleasant dining experience from that perspective, but the food was good and wine pairings were decent. Our bill for two entrees with soup and salad and a couple glasses of wine came to over $125. Not inexpensive. We would dine here again on occasion and hope for a different table and server. Parking is available in their lot.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Nice cozy atmosphere. Great service . Huge cocktail list. Everything on menu sounded good was hard to pick. We loved the warm goat cheese salad, steamed mussels. Main courses were large portions- duck breast and lamb schnitzel. Everything we saw going to other tables looked tasty. Enjoyed chocolates for dessert with coffee. More of a fancier night out- our entrees were in the $30s but delicious. Looking forward to going back. Big outdoor patio looked nice also

We flew into Eugene to watch Ducks and one in particular graduate today. Dinner reservations had already been made in advance and we could only get a 8:30 spot. We decide to go an hour early and have a round at the bar before being seated. First thing I noticed was that they had the roll up "garage door" open to the patio and the weather at 74 degrees couldn't have made it feel any nicer with what one Yelp reviewer called a "rustic lodge" feel with its wooden interior. Our waiter was very nice and poured us some waters while he waited for our drink orders. Their cocktail menu had more than several different than the norm "oh, I wanna try that" kind of drinks. I went ahead and told the host who had a I am the owner kind of vibe that we were here and he said he would do what he could to get up seated quicker. After our drinks were served the waiter stayed engaged to conversation with us just adding to great vibe of everything Rye. Shortly thereafter the host approached us and said he had a table for us and it would be waiting for us whenever we were ready to move (total zero rush required on our part attitude). We took him up on the immediate 45 minute earlier seating time and looked forward to what was to come. We had one main waitress but more than several other servers brought and cleared plates throughout the meal. Being from out of town we ordered several appetizers to get a better variety of their culinary flare. We shared the calamari, which had a perfect and not greasy one iota. Next was the steamed mussels that was in a broth I can promise you that a drop did not go to waste. Third was the cheese and charcuterie board that was beautifully arranged with everything just being so right together. Lastly was the French onion soup that was small in size but mighty in flavor. I made the mistake of ordering a glass of wine that didn't come by the glass and the waitress shortly came back with a wine list to help find me a proper replacement. For my main I ordered the Chinook king salmon that was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Everyone else enjoyed their mains as well. For dessert we shared a single slice of the goat cheese cheesecake that finished off the night perfectly. The night wasn't without one or two slights but as fine as this meal was I'm gonna leave it at that. I will say if you would like maybe a special occasion, upscale, eclectic, gourmet restaurant in Eugene this has to be the place.

Lovely interior and area for lunch. Server was perfunctory and multi tasked as bartender and assisting the kitchen. My cocktail was average compared to other espresso martini drinks at other area restaurants. The mushroom squash melt was good but needed a denser (seeded whole wheat maybe) sandwich roll and the delicata squash would have fit in the sandwich in a more cohesive manner if sliced in rings rather than thick sticks. I opted for a cup of onion soup rather than fries. The soup was definitely onion soup. I liked the ambiance and will return to try out the dinner menu.

Delicious food! Nice ambiance. Attentive service. I went with two friends. We each ordered completely different entres and all felt like ours was the best.

Starlight Lounge: Where Eugene's Secret Broadway Rejects Serenade You (And It's Weirdly Good)…read more Gave the Starlight Lounge a whirl last Sunday for their karaoke night. Expectations were set somewhere between "drunken caterwauling" and "mildly painful nostalgia." Color me... surprised! Let's cut to the chase: the *talent* here. Eugene, who knew? Several performers weren't just "good for karaoke," they were legitimately, bafflingly excellent. Like, "should probably be charging admission or at least bothering Broadway agents" levels. One individual in particular possessed the kind of voice that makes you wonder why they're belting show tunes in a dimly lit Eugene bar on a Friday and not, you know, on a stage where people pay actual money. It was impressively non-awful. Actually, scratch that. It was great. Shockingly so. Drinks? Perfectly serviceable. Major points for the extensive non-alcoholic menu. They seemed genuinely willing to de-booze pretty much anything on request, which is handy if you're the designated listener to Eugene's hidden musical theatre gems. Staff were friendly enough, didn't seem phased by the slightly goth-adjacent vibe the place cultivates. Points for atmosphere. The singer's area wins for comfort - actual couches you can sink into while contemplating the life choices that led that phenomenal voice. The DJ deserves a medal. Actively prowling the darker corners of the bar, gently coercing the shy into public performance? Effective. Almost concerningly so. They offer food (didn't try it, smelled... present), and there are the obligatory video gambling machines for those who enjoy losing money slightly more efficiently. Now, the rating. 3+ stars.*** Why not higher? Look, it's a solid experience. Friendly, talented, comfortable, good drinks (alcoholic or not). But it's the Starlight Lounge, not the Met. Manage expectations. It's a pleasantly nice hidden gem, truly. Emphasis on gem but also on hidden and possibly on the faint scent of... well, I didn't try the women's restroom this time. That particular adventure, and its potential to swiftly terminate an evening "May or may" not determine if one needs to head home cause she's unable to use a disgusting toilet) is reserved for my next visit. A critical data point, one might say. Overall- Surprisingly excellent karaoke talent (seriously), good drinks (booze-free options aplenty), comfy vibe, proactive DJ. Minus points for existential questions raised by the talent pool's location and the looming bathroom inspection. **3+ stars. Good job, guys. Keep it up! P.S: it was ass FREE less the drinks etc... SCORE! 3 out of 5 = Good Job Helping hands; improve and attract more customers. 1. Partner with Downtown Hotels: Drop off flyers/promo cards at hotel concierge desk highlighting your surprisingly Broadway-level karaoke and extensive mocktail menu - perfect for tourists looking for unique, non-club nightlife. 2. Advertise Themed Nights in "The Weekly": Run simple, recurring ads or event listings for specific karaoke nights (e.g., "Showtune Sundays," "80s Power Hour") in Eugene's free weekly paper - targets locals planning their week. 3. Leverage Social Media Snippets: Post short video clips (even just 15-30 seconds!) of your best singers (with permission!) on Instagram/Facebook; yes even facebook. Showcase the talent & vibe - proof beats description. 4. Promote Mocktails Specifically: Add a dedicated "Zero Proof Stars" section to your drink menu/online & mention it explicitly in ads. Eugene's health-conscious crowd will notice. 5. Offer a "First-Timer" Perk: Give a small discount on a well drink or mocktail to anyone the DJ recruits to sing for the first time. Lowers the barrier, rewards participation. Good luck & I have faith you will continue to make wonderful cherished memories.

The bar looks like it can accommodate about 30 people in the interior. There is a nice outdoor patio that can easily accommodate more when the weather is nice. The barkeeper was very attentive and observant, he took our food and drink requests at the bar and in short order, everything was presented. I had a Moscow Mule that I found to be a refreshing drink. Ginger beer, lime and vodka. An excellent combination. I also had an order of the chicken wings and fries. The fries were a normal shoestring variety, cooked well, nicely salted and came in a metal bowl. The wings I found to be outstanding! I don't usually get wings this well made unless I do it myself. I received 8 wings coated with barbecue sauce on a charcuterie board with the fries. The wings were served nicely hot. The meat was piping hot, juicy and tender. The barbecue coating was a hearty middle of the road sauce, not sweet or too smoky. It was caramelized perfectly for that sticky texture and flavor. Definitely a nice coating. Thankfully the bartender brought us a lot of napkins. The wings and fries made for a satisfying meal. With that meal you will experience actual satisfaction and contentment. That's the first thing I have to say in case you're reading for a recommendation of what to order. I had a small slider of corned beef along with his amazing fresh Kale salad garnish with shaved Parmesan, walnuts, added protein -- sausage. It came with a toasted slice of soda bread that was great. But the slider was how I realized the corned beef was PERFECTLY prepared. A taste was not enough; I decided to get the dinner plate version to take the next day up to Seattle with me. Fantastic staff included Barkeep Illyia, whose birthday it was. She kept up a steady stream of attentive care, skillful service, friendly banter with each of the clients that came in and said good by to them as they left. Hospitality was her middle name. Love that they have mugs for the regulars hanging from the ceilings, the bar space is great but so are the arm chairs and cushioned seats in the corners of the pub. I even ran into two other concertgoers who had also been so energized after the Messiah concert that they didn't want to go home. We spent a half hour at the bar unpacking the highs and best points of the performance by the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, and the symphony choir, and each of the soloists. We also unanimously agreed the tenor was fantastic, the baritone a paragon of artistic talent, the soprano sang incandescently, and that the final AMEN movement was soul healing and mind blowing simultaneously. Yeah. It was that good. This place was the right place to come to unpack it all over a Guinness and the best corned beef and cabbage in town.
