Probably one of the worst coffee shops I've tried. Given it two chances now, and disappointed both times. I got this Caesar wrap (expecting chicken inside due to the price) and an iced mocha latte. The latte tasted like nothing, watered down and nothing enjoyable, went straight to the trash. The Caesar wrap had massive and I mean MASSIVE chunks of sourdough bread that was toasted and I cut up my mouth a few times. In addition to that, some iceberg lettuce and globs of ranch, that's all. My total came out to $24 if you can believe that. Total waste of money. The first time I came here, I asked for my pastry to be toasted and they stated they don't toast there. read more

A great snack The strawberry matcha was alright-- like I'll drink it esp for $10. But the strawberry taste was less sweet and more like unripe strawberries. Service is wonderful, the girl at the register was super kind and helpful, and any other time I've come it seems to be the same experience. So I have been going to Rye Goods since they were a truck in Old Town Tustin and I am BEYOND happy they are back in my neighborhood! I have been by at last 3-4 times already and so far have had nothing but GREAT experiences. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, and everything I've tried has been exemplary. Yes their prices are a smidge high but I personally like not having to tip and not having the screen turned around for me to add tip when pay. I prefer knowing it's already included and if you take this into account along with the fact that they use premium ingredients their prices are more than fair. I also love that they have take and bake items from empanadas to tortillas to all kinds of items (they vary). I have been impressed with the variety. Parking was terrible, seems like it was mostly employee parking for the building. We had to park across the street. I got the morning sugar latte which was terrible. Situated in the back of an industrial building. Definitely an odd location, but it's likely where they do a lot of their prep work for their other stores. Order at the register and they call your name when ready. Friendly staff, but took awhile for our seemingly normal order to be made and it wasn't busy at all on a Sun morning. There is communal seating in a huge indoor warehouse type area and also some outdoor seating. Big chairs and couches everywhere. Some dining sets, too. We got their breakfast sandwich, quiche, and two lattes for low $40s. They add a 12% service fee to your order in lieu of tip. Didn't seem like we had an option to avoid it. Regardless, everything was great! Sandwich comes on your choice of bagel and is messy due to runny egg, so heads up. Quiche comes with little salad (lettuce and vinaigrette-like dressing only). My coffee was burnt and when I came to the register to change my drink I haven't even touched, the lady with a bad hair day with brown short bangs acted like I just asked her for free food or somthing... Waited in a 3 person long line for 15 minutes cause the only 2 workers there were over-occupied with making latte orders. After a friend recommended Rye Goods a year ago, I've been coming here for pastries and sour dough loaf. Very glad they decided to open one in Tustin which is only 6 minutes away from me! It's hidden in the offices area on Redhill and the entrance in the back of the parking lot. I came on a Saturday morning during the soft opening where the line was way too long, so I decided to come back another day...Which I came on a Wednesday morning a week later and there was no line at all! First of all, LOVE the interior design and the seating area at this location. Second, I'm not sure if they raised the price at both locations but they are now much pricier. To be honest, I was surprised by how much their current pastry cost. I bought 3 items (a slice of almond marzipan cake, a morning bun, and a specialty croissant) and each of them was almost $8, the total was around $25. I believe they used to be around $3-5?? Almond Marzipan - Very yummy, not overly sweet nor dry. The cake itself was moist and just enough almond flavor so it was not overpowering. Morning Bun - Very flaky and has a fruity taste within the swirls which I'm guessing it's cinnamon apple jam but I think I preferred it without the apple part...It was a bit too rich after I finished the whole bun. Specialty Croissant - Thought it was like a cinnamon twist croissant but no cinnamon at all. I think it was sprinkled with brown sugar and was very simple but flavorful. I've always loved their croissants, flaky and not overly greasy nor too sweet. Just the right balance of the texture and flavors. Overall, their pastry deserves 5 stars but I'm just still adjusting to this new pricing. read more

A wonderful organic sourdough bakery in the Tustin area. Artisanal bread and pastries are what we really needed in Tustin, especially new Legacy area. I am glad to be living within walking distance to the bakery shop. Love their rotating seasonal treats: recent chocolate tarts were top-notch! They serve and sell organic Canyon coffee; and almond milk latte is my all-time favourite. If I am super hungry for nutritious and filling breakfast or brunch, bagel egg sandwich and seasonal quiche are my winners. Baristas Mags and Jade always make it a pleasurable experience to dine in. This spot has a number of unique pastry options that sound and look great. I really wanted to like Rye Goods because my daughter and niece are big fans. They are pricey, which I don't mind paying for quality. But I cannot get over the fact that they will not take 30 extra seconds to warm up pastries for their guests! I picked up a caramelized onion and goat cheese pastry, and was heading to run errands one cold morning. Baked goods are not fresh and when I asked one of the workers she said the bakers came in yesterday. So beware that some of their baked goods are a day old. . Ugh - this place has such strong pros AND cons. Pros: Great open area for relaxed weekend lounging Usually nice employees Definite cool vibe Cons: Hugely inconsistent. The bagel breakfast sammie is decadent; the quiche has a good crust. But pastries are often dry and heavy and not nearly as flavorful as they look. A $9 CUP of leek soup (literally one of the cheapest things you can make) was bland and vaguely bitter. Drinks usually come out way later than food. They won't heat up pastries from the case. Cold hard cheese is bad. No sweetener out for coffee, and they seem a little put out when you ask for some. One register, lines move sloooowly. Not many vegan options, vegan friend asked if he could pay extra for a shake of dukkah on a bagel and cream cheese (probably worth 10 cents). The answer was just no. No explanation. And yes, it's pricey. That alone wouldn't lower my review. But at these prices, the food should be fresher and more consistent. read more

We stopped by for coffee and pastries a couple of days ago. I had previously picked up some bread on my way over to a breakfast invitation and liked it a lot. This time was no different. The coffee was top notch and pastries were wonderful. More importantly I was very impressed by the two ladies who took care of us. They were kind and very helpful, and when there was a mixup with our order they offered to remedy it very generously and made the whole experience a pleasure. Great space...we shared a breakfast burrito and brought home several pastries. Food was very fresh and delicious. The blueberry scone was my favorite. They are more dense, but very flavorful. À unique twist I wasn't expecting but liked. My only issue is seating is a bit challenging for seniors or the disabled. Higher chairs with arms would be helpful. I recently attended a UCLA event in the Tustin location. After the event, I bought a baguette because it was supposed to be sourdough. It tasted no different from a regular baguette. And this one cost $8-10. The thing that floored me, however, was the $12 blueberry tart!!! That is highway robbery, and it tasted no better than the $5.99 blueberry tart at my favorite bakery. I was so disappointed and felt cheated. Had I seen the price of the tart beforehand, I wouldn't have bought it. Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize it until I got my receipt. Great bread - I've tried country, sesame, five seeds, and porridge - all slightly different, but all sourdough based with great texture. They range from $12-15. The pastries always look tempting, however, I've been a bit disappointed after trying several of them (butter croissant, almond croissant, turnover etc.). The croissants were all made from sourdough, so it's not as flaky as a typical French croissant, but a lot more dense/firm - so not really my style. The bagels, on the other hand, are delicious. There is a egg sandwich version or you can get them just toasted with cream cheese. I don't know if they make them in house, but their chive cream cheese is amazing (especially paired with everything bagel toasted). Pricey, yes, but worth it since we can't find equally good breads elsewhere in Irvine/Newport. read more
