We went straight to the tablet to place our orders. We ordered two Signature Cream Top (Espresso and Hojicha) and the Sohn Breakfast Sandwich. Both drinks were really good. The coffee had a great flavor. The hojicha was strong and delicious. I liked that we could really taste the hojicha, and it wasn't too milky. The sandwich was warm and served with these soft, flaky, square croissant buns. The egg had a soft tofu-like texture. The melted cheese pulled it all together. The onion jam was good but I could do with a little less. Nonetheless, I would not opt out of getting the onion jam; it was unique. The cafe is very spacious and aesthetically pleasing. We went at 1pm on Sunday, and luckily there was no line. (There was a huge line when we were leaving at 2 pm.) We got the kimchi fried rice, buckwheat noodles, patty melt, popcorn chicken. I was most excited for the patty melt, but in the end it was the most disappointing. It was just kind a dry burger, with no special flavor. The croissant bun was nice. However I was pleasantly surprised by the cold noodle salad and the popcorn chicken which came with fried tteoboki. The melona soda was fun too, but too much ice and not enough soda. They have 2 floors, the bottom is for take out and doing work I think while the top is for dining in. We were able to get seated on the top floor right away. Came on a Friday at 2pm and there was a short line but there was still a wait because a lot of people come here to work so the tables fill up and stay filled since the AM's. The interior aesthetic is so beautifully done and the space is really comforting. We ordered the popcorn chicken which was probably our favorite food dish. The fried mini tteokbokki was crispy and chewy and the chicken had great flavor. The galbi melt just tasted like a regular patty sandwiched between a croissant. Happy to be a regular at Sohn, a comfortable korean cafe offering a great place to work from home in the city and to spend time chatting away with your friends and family. I have been to Sohn at least over six times already and will continue to come here. Sohn is located 5 minutes away from the 22nd street Caltrain station, making it very convenient for commuters. However, for folks who are not familiar with the Dogpatch area, parking here can be extremely tough, so if you are not willing to spend a good chunk of time finding a spot or paying money, I would not recommend it. The free spots are usually only 4 hours max (which is pretty good for the city but still). The best time to come to Sohn is very early in the morning during opening. They have a lot of seating and it can be very peaceful and quiet, however throughout the day the traffic does increase a lot. As a note, if you decide to come here solo for dine in, they most liekly will put you either at the bar or upstairs in a communal table. They do walk you to seating, it is not open selection. As a note for Sohn, if you dine in, you will go on the left side of the shop where they will sit you to a table. On the table is a QR code where you order, and then they will bring eveerything out for you. If you want to go you line up on the right and wait to order at the kiosk. My favorite food items/drinks I have gotten at Sohn goes as followed: * Their banana oat hojicha latte, the hojicha is nice and toasty and the banana is pronounced and makes the drink creamy * Their pumpkin tea (actually one of the best teas I have ever had). I feel like Sohn is known for the matcha and hojicahs, but personally I do think one of their underrated drinks is their pumpkin tea (hot). It taste very homey, strong kaboucha flavor, and subtly sweet. I often order one matcha/hojicha to inhale and a secondary tea to enjoy slowly as I work. * Their popcorn chicken is chef's kiss. I think the rice cakes are nice and chewy, their chicken is juicy and flavored very well. SOHN is a Korean breakfast and brunch cafe in the Dogpatch neighborhood. I have to give them a compliment on their design, this is probably one of the most aesthetic cafe in the Bay Area. The cafe is very spacious with both downstairs and upstairs seating, free wifi, plenty of power outlets, making it a great working space for remote workers (like me) or students. Their menu has a wide variety of food and drink options, and I really enjoyed everything I ordered. I had hojicha latte and Galbi Patty Melt (their breakfast sandwich). Hojicha latte was not too sweet so you can focus on the nutty flavor of the drink. And what I like most is that the "hot hojicha" was served at a perfect temperature, warm enough to be comforting but not too hot to burn my mouth. Their Galbi Patty Melt featured Korean BBQ beef, cheddar cheese, and kimchi slaw on a sesame croissant bun. One thing about me is that I love, love, love a cute cafe. I've been wanting to visit Sohn for a few months now, but I finally got to try on my recent trip to SF! Ok, first: the vibes. The interior is washed in a palette of soft neutrals and pale wood. Lots of open spaces, airy lantern light fixtures, fabric tapestries, etc., etc., etc. So beautiful, and so perfect for photos! (My friend and I took lots, believe me.) The only "complaint" I have is that it isn't open seating; an employee will seat you when you arrive, so you can't really choose where you want to settle. Kinda bummed because I wanted to see upstairs. Even though I prioritize cafe aesthetics over food, I'm pleased to report that the food and drinks at Sohn are just as delicious as they look. Style AND substance! There's a QR code at each table, which you scan to order. The workers bring the items to your table directly, which is pretty nice. Here is a rundown of everything we ordered: - Banana oat milk hojicha latte: Wait, why was this so good? It actually might be one of the best drinks I've ever tried. You can tell they use real bananas; there are literally chunks of banana at the bottom. No artificial syrups here. The banana is sweet and creamy, not bitter at all. Plus, it's oat milk! Yay for my fellow lactose-intolerant friends. The hojicha was okay, though. I think that, if it were nuttier, the roasted flavor would've complemented the banana so well, bringing this drink to a whole new level. - Coffee hojicha: Pretty bitter if you don't add syrup, but once it's properly sweetened, it's pretty good. Since their hojicha isn't very flavorful, it's easily overpowered by the coffee, so I wouldn't recommend this one. (Though it's not bad.) - Popcorn chicken: This was so delicious and beautifully presented in a round stone bowl. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the fried rice cakes were a unique inclusion! They are rolled in a seaweed seasoning, which reminds me of furikake. Glad they have savory items, too. - Gochujang cookie: Meh, honestly, you can skip this. It's not a bad cookie per se, but it tastes like a regular ol' sugar cookie. I don't taste the gochujang at all. It's not even a pretty cookie, haha, so I wouldn't even order it for aesthetics either. But overall, I had a great experience at Sohn! I saw a lot of people working on their computers here, but it's also a solid spot for photos or hanging out with friends. The popcorn chicken and mochi bites is good, wish that it came with a sauce on the side otherwise would be perfect! They did have sriracha that you can grab but I think another sauce would complement it better. The gochujang snickerdoodle is my current favorite cookie. It has the crispy edges but soft in the middle. Perfect density and not too sweet! The drinks have been hit or miss with me. I've gotten the banana latte twice. The first time there wasn't enough banana but the second time was too much banana. Coffee itself is tasty! Finally, a cute Korean cafe in SF!! Love the modern decor and neutral color palette. Stopped by on a Sunday at 10:45am and was super excited that there was no line. I've passed by several times before, and each time there was a line. However, by the time I left around 11:45am, there were around a dozen people waiting to dine in. There's some seating downstairs and even more seating upstairs. A lot of people had their laptops out. It's a great place to get work done as there are ample outlets and free WiFi. Once seated, you scan the QR code to order & pay for your food. Super easy! I also love how Apple Pay is accepted. I ordered the kimchi fried rice ($14) and loved it. I was taking my time to check this place out as I've heard about long wait for several weeks after opening. It was easy to get a table at ~9:30am on Friday. Just couple of people were there. But at 10:30 the second floor was fully packed. I liked the menu which was not too large and went with the breakfast sandwich and hot hojicha latte. Be careful with ordering drinks -- seems like they serve sweetened version by default so when you order pick less sweet or unsweetened if you don't want a sweet drink (my friend made this mistake and was a bit disappointed). I liked the sandwich -- the texture combo was amazing: tender egg, crunchy bacon and flaky sesame croissant. The sweetness from onion jam was a bit too much for me but I still enjoyed it. Wait Time: Depending on if you choose dine in or take out the time may vary, but relatively quick service for dine-in. Service: Menu is available via QR code at the bar and on the tables in the restaurant with servers bringing food and drinks as the order is placed. They do require you to pay before the order is complete so there is not much interaction outside of when they bring food out. Food: The Matcha Cream Top was good with a nice earthy flavor from the matcha and complimented by the cream placed on top of the drink. The size is a fair price compared to other matcha around the city and not overly filled with ice as well. The Galbi Patty Melt was good with less of a marinated flavor that you might expect from the Galbi, though it was not dry as there was both a kimchi slaw and dress placed on top. The bun of the Melt was extremely light and crispy with loads of sesame seeds which provided a complimentary texture. The gochujang caramel cookie was crisp around the edges and softer along the middle of the cookie. Not overly powerful from the gochujang itself and tasted almost like a snickerdoodle and sugar cookie mixed together. A very fair priced for the size of the cookie as well. A beautiful and very spacious cafe located right next to Dogpatch Boulders. I came here with the intention to explore a new cafe but had no idea that the line would be 30+min for Sit Down as well as Take Out. It was busy. You see a large amount of people doing work on their laptop but also many who came here to eat and socialize. It does slightly feel like a social hub where people come and meet their friends to hang out. They need to clean their restrooms more frequently because I can tell they do it probably once a week. They need to have someone go in in and clean every 30min for that amount of people who visit Sohn daily. read more

My friend and I were determined to make the most of a PTO Friday, with SF temperatures in the sizzling range. After visits to Hamburguesa Bar and Shoji, we capped our afternoon at Sohn and I am very glad we did. First off, the space is gorgeous. We got our order to go because I had a kid to pick up on the other side of the Bay but this is definitely a place you want to settle into! The ceilings are soaring and the vibes are good. Second, thank you for making me feel seen as a non-coffee drinker Sohn! All of the drinks offer the following options: espresso, matcha, hojicha. My tea-loving prayers have been answered! I can't think of a better way to beat the heat than an iced banana oat milk hojicha latte. Finally, I've been meaning to bake the gochujang caramel cookies forever and Sohn saved me the labor by having them on offer here. Very solid cookie option, friends! Sohn is a spacious, aesthetically pleasing cafe to get some work done or catch up with friends. They offer free WiFi and table service. We had to wait in line on a Friday afternoon to get seated. I tried the yuja perilla espresso tonic and it was so good! Didn't taste much of the perilla but the citrus flavor was strong. Food was good as well. The tables are small to have space to eat, drink, and work though. Overall I'd love to come back when I'm in the city, preferably on a weekday or during a time when it's not too busy. read more

I heard so many great things from friends about Sohn and so I wanted to check it out! Inside the cafe looked so aesthetically pleasing and welcoming, but the line to sit was a bit too long for me. I opted for the to-go and was able to try the chocolate croissant (8.5/10), Seoul sausage pepper croissant (8/10), galbi patty melt (6/10), and the decaf banana oat latte (6.6/10). I really liked the chocolate croissant and Seoul sausage croissant :) but the banana oat latte was a bit too sweet for me. I wish there was an option to lower the sweetness. We arrived on a Sunday mid-morning, waited over an hour to be seated & 15 minutes after we sat down, ordered, and received most of our food, a server told us to move because there was no other table that will be able to sit a new party of five (we're a party of four). We spoke to a manager and they were able to help us move to a better table than the one were originally shunted to. They're very busy but I appreciate that we get proper service if we ask. Great food & drinks. Seoul Sausage Pastry is a filling, savory treat! Breakfast Sandwich has steamed egg which is super melt-in-your-mouth good. The signature cream top drink has a cream that is not too heavy and doesn't overpower the base of the drink. Great balance. Yuja Perilla Espresso Tonic is a standout, super refreshing and light. It starts off with a note of strong flavor that goes away at the end of the sip. They gave us a treat for the trouble, so I'm happy to say if you carve out some time to visit, they are committed to adding joy to the community. read more

Espresso banana milk - felt like espresso didn't mix in well with the banana milk, espresso was bit bitter and left a sour aftertaste. not my favorite! Hojicha cream top - on the sweeter side, couldn't really taste the Hojicha but otherwise pretty good! Popcorn chicken - chicken is a bit salty but LOVE the rice cakes, the furikake adds a nice savory/umami touch. Love how they don't charge extra for milk alternatives. Lovely vibes, very aesthetic and open space. Staff friendly and service super quick. Came at 9:45AM on a Saturday and there was no wait for dine in, we got seated right away. The ambiance here is bright, airy, and super clean. It's a pretty big cafe for SF, and the service is really white glove even though it's a cafe! They do have food here, but I only tried the hojicha banana latte which I really liked. They have outlets on their top floor and a wide range of tables if you want to work here for a bit as well. I also like the self-service for water in the back area, but a server will bring you your drink whenever it's ready so you don't have to walk back downstairs. read more

Been here several times and tried most of their food items - best one would be popcorn chicken which was crispy and well seasoned without being overly salty. The breakfast sandwiches were ok - meat in the galbi melt wasn't as tender as I expected while the regular breakfast sandwich was a bit too sweet. For $14, there wasn't a lot of noodles in their buckwheat noodle salad. Tried the banana hojicha latte on separate occasions and it was bland - you would think it's because it has too much ice but no, I grabbed it right away when it was ready and took a big sip after giving it a good mix. Nope, no flavor - not from the hojicha and definitely not from banana. Their cookie is nice and big - not spicy despite having gochujang in it. Parking is a hit or miss. I usually just double park in the yellow zone right outside and run in to place my order while keeping an eye out. Lines for dine in can be long as you approach end of week. read more

Sohn is a Korean cafe I can get behind! Came here with friends and waited only a few minutes in line on a Sunday around noon. I ordered a breakfast sandwich ($14) and banana matcha oat milk latte ($7), plus popcorn chicken ($10) for the table to share. Each item was executed well - the breakfast sandwich's gyeran jjim, or Korean steamed egg, was almost soufflé like and topped cheese and sweet onion bacon jam, and the popcorn chicken came with fried tteokbokki that perfectly contrasted crispy and chewy. Only critique I have is that I wish my latte came with a straw or a stirrer so I could mix my drink thoroughly, and maybe having an option to ask for less ice. This place was so cute and wonderfully decorated. Very simplistic but elegant with a modern feel. There was no line thankfully so we dined in. Once at the door we were greeted with friendly staff and directed upstairs to be seated. Ordering food was done via QR code with your phone. Food and drinks arrived in less than 15 minutes. My friend ordered the wrong drink and they changed it up for her without a fuss. Food was bomb! Banana Oat Milk Matcha latte was sooo good. Perfectly balanced drink.
