So caught sight of this place out of the corner driving down 348. Did a U Turn and went in and ordered the xxx hot to which the girl said don't do that. She said it would be too hot for me., glad she said something. Food was great and spicy they were light on the fries but still good. Try them out if you like spicy tenders.

J's signature on the menu, cooks did there thing, fire

Everything well seasoned and saucy 10/10. Service was fast it was empty.. they deserve more people!!

S&J's Hot Chick at 2201 W Northwest Hwy #120, Dallas, TX 75220 Ask for the J's special "A bed of french fries, nicely seasoned, sliced up chicken with macaroni cheese on top and two types of sauce" Now the hot chicken itself had a weird texture on the chicken strips and was not too hot to be the second one from the top. I do wish I had ordered some Parmesan fries also but this will get me there one more time. There's room to sit down and eat in this place. I'm really not sure how late they're open on like a Friday or Saturday. But since this is in the local Club area if they stay open late and people figure out this place is there they're going to have a Cult following pretty soon. This is at a gas station on the right side. The parking lot is big enough for about 30 something cars but parking in front of the building is very limited.

This place got recommended by a friend so I tried it out for lunch. Placed an online order and picked up within a very reasonable time. The location is by a gas station but not that hard to find. The food was definitely alright and nothing to rave about in my opinion. I got the medium spice sandwich but it didn't pack as much heat as I wanted compared to other places I've had. The pickles they have over there are house made and were good. More on the sweet side. Banana pudding was just not worth the price. It was so much smaller for how much I paid and too sweet for my liking :( I wouldn't go out of my way to grab food here. My friends enjoyed the J's special a lot but personally the chicken sandwich is a pass.

We got in to town late and ordered for pick-up from S & J's since it was by our hotel and opened later than most places. It wasn't as good as what the reviews were saying. The chicken strips were a good size, but there was no flavor, as was the piece of Texas toast. The spicy was just hot with no other flavor. We ordered a milkshake for my son, but they ran out of milk.

First time here after wanting to try for so long. When I entered I noticed how clean it was. I loved that! I ordered and my food was ready shortly after. My fries were absolutely perfect. They were crisp to perfection on the outside but soft on the inside. I got the mild choice for my chicken and it was so delicious and moist. The sauce added to the overall flavor. I was extremely satisfied. The fried pickles were great. The perfect crunch. My husband ate his burger so quick, I am sure he loved it as well!! I'm so glad I finally got a chance to try their food, def coming again when I visit. Food is amazing! Employees are courteous and very helpful.

This place has great signage. I was laughing pulling up at the originality of it all. The mural on the inside is great as well. And the stickers they give when you place your order. But the packaging and the signage is paid for with the food, because the lowest cost sandwich is $10. That doesn't mean that they aren't worth it, these sandwiches are definitely cravewothy. However I will caution you that they have spice in EVERY part of their sandwiches except the bread and to order down one heat level from what you are used to. They honey mustard has chili. The pickles are spicy. The batter has chili in it, and then more is put on after its fried. These sandwiches are not for the faint of heart. We tried the portabella mushroom, the fish, and the chicken sandwiches. I have to say that the portables mushroom is surprisingly good and worth coming for. So is the fish. Everything was made fresh with quality ingredients. The chicken was not dry. It is juicy and fried perfectly-- though quality control might be an issue if they aren't shaking the basket to get off the oil each time. These sandwiches are definitely quality and truly delicious. I met the owner and his wife. They are nice and their customer service is good. The mango iced tea is really really really delicious. I wish it was 2.50 instead of $4... but it's worth trying Also they need an option for kids on the menu. I knocked down a star because I'd like to see this get changed. Go get your spice on! Your mouth will be on fire in the best way! PS.. the staff do need to be wearing their masks properly.

We loved it and I gave it 5 stars and so looked forward to returning. This time, however, the experience was a bit of a disappointment. My ratings for this experience in July 2026: Service: 5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Food: 3/5, which is generous. I could easily go 2 stars. Let me start with the positives. Our server, Madeline, was excellent. She was personable and efficient. She missed on her recommendation but I think that was more the kitchen than her. She was there when we needed her without being overbearing. She labeled our take home boxes so we knew what was inside. Nice touch. The ambience is upscale without being pretentious. There was one a group across the restaurant that was so loud that my wife and I had some difficulty conversing, but I understand that is not something the restaurant can control. The restaurant was nearly full on a Friday when we entered about 7pm and when we left there was a long line of people waiting for a table, so I guess the restaurant is doing something right. What the restaurant can control is the food, and it was not up to par. We started with a chopped romaine salad, which is basically a Caesar. It had too many spoiled (wilted or brown) pieces of lettuce and was way overdressed. Quality control needs to improve. The kid wanted pasta as usual but their offering was with pesto and that was a no-go so Madeline had the kitchen do an off menu pasta with red sauce. I appreciate the gesture. The sauce was not acidic but the pasta was al dente and the kid was not used to that, so she did not really like it. Not the restaurant's fault on that one. The wife had the daily special, short rib stroganoff, and said it had no flavor. I did not try it but I assume the meat was not seasoned. I had the chicken parm with spaghetti from the "classics" portion of the menu. I was not impressed. I expected the spaghetti to be on the side but it was on top. The chicken had a strong burned flavor so I wondered if the spaghetti was on top to cover the burn? My pasta was al dente which was fine with me but overall the dish lacked flavor except for a burnt taste. I would not order it again. Overall, all our dishes missed the mark in one way or another. No one enjoyed their food. Maybe we ordered incorrectly, although you would think that ordering the daily special and a "classic" would be safe. Maybe the kitchen had an off night when it was so busy. The demand for a table was at variance with the quality of the food, which was average at best. At least the drinks were good.

The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

Features a compact bar with only 2 screens, which again is preferential versus something loaded to the gills with cheap TCL displays. Menu is simple and direct, with all of what you might expect from an upscale neighborhood bar & grill. The tuna tartare is excellent, but it's more of a dip almost than a traditional imagining. It has jalapeno, heaps of cilantro, and muddled avocado to tie it all together. Very fresh and pleasant. Pastrami sliders were also tasty, but I would venture to say they are a little too bready for an appetizer, but nicely done otherwise. My go to entree is of course either the hanger steak or filet with fries and semi traditional bistro sauce, can't go wrong there. I have only seen 2 deserts on the menu, but there might be some special appearances from time to time. The do not miss item there is the Basque cheesecake. Which is basically a cheese forwards cheesecake without a crust, and somewhat reduced sugar content versus it's American cousins. Very good, and served with a berry coulis. The only trespass I experienced was with the wine list. It's overall somewhat expensive for what's listed, and on my last visit two bottles I had ordered were out of stock. That being said there are good picks here from Premier Cru Chablis to Faust Cabernet Sauvignon.
