Yum this place was delicious. Meat is so flavorful. Love that the fries are seasoned and crispy. The wrap is huge. I got the steak and guacamole one. It comes with fries, lettuce, fries and steak and some kind of sauce. There is 3 types of sauces you can get on the side. Two smokey hot sauces one is chipotle and the other one is mango. The other one is a cream sauce. I loved the wrap and want to come back and try some of the other food options. Great service. Great new spot. They have a guava soda that was good. There aren't many places that I like or know where to get kabob/gyro in South Bay San Diego but this will now be my go to place in the area. I went with their shah deluxe press burger and fries. It comes with both a beef blend patty and shaved gyro on it. I asked the guy at the counter if I could pay to upgrade to zaatar fries but he said he could just ask the staff to sprinkle some on. Fries were delicious and perfectly crispy! The burger was good but I did prefer the gyro to the beef blend patty. Maybe a standard beef patty would have melded well with the taste of the gyro instead of competing against it. In the future, I'll probably just order gyro. Service was friendly and quick. The place is smaller but is clean and was not too busy inside. There is a case of desserts that looked so good! Will have to try some dessert next time. Walked in to a really clean restaurant with a guy wiping down tables and putting trash away. I ordered the triple kabob plate to try to sample some of their items. Prior to the food had tried their sumac chipotle and I have to say it is great! The meal was great... chicken was flavorful, gyros was delicious and meat was cooked perfectly. It comes with delicious Chicken, Gyro Meat, Yellow Rice, 4-5 large grilled tomatoes (perfectly grilled), 4 large grilled Jalapenos, a perfect amount of pita bread, and a VERY LARGE salad that is DELICIOUS. These guys offer some of the best afghan food I've had in San Diego. I had the appetizer of falafel and the Rice and Chicken Kabob Plate. The falafel were $6 and the Chicken plate was $14 which came with a side salad and warm pita bread. The falafels were delicious. They had a great fry which provided that nice crunchy texture on the outside when your bite into them. Their inside were very flavorful with the chickpeas not only providing a nice flavor , but also the garlic, parsley, onions, and coriander amongst a few. These were very successful and I would order these again. Using fresh chickpeas makes a huge difference when it comes to texture. With regards to the Rice and Chicken plate, the chicken was not doubt the star of the plate, but in no means degrading the rest of the items because they were all great. The chicken however was not only perfectly seasoned but was also perfectly cooked. It was very tender and juicy. They did such a great job on it. The imported rice was amazing. Food made fresh with love. First time visiting this amazing place and I was blown away by the chicken and falafel. Flavorful and well cooked chicken soft in every bite, falafels are the best I have eaten so far, so soft and moist still can't get over them 24 hours later I ate them. To top off the amazing food we tried their baklava and Afghan gelato and I am so glad we did. One of the best baklava's I have had, they are meant to be soft and not super sweet. My first time trying SD kabob shack. The girl at the front counter was patient and made some good recommendations which I followed. I bought the chicken kabob plate with rice and a couple of grilled vegetables on the side, along with a Greek salad. Everything was packaged well especially the salad which came in a little container which I almost felt bad for throwing out when I was finished. It also came with a type of flat bread. The chicken was plentiful and flavorful cut in a nice little cubes and the rice was cooked to what I considered to be perfectly. Looking for a post-church place to eat on Sunday, my Yelp search pulled this fantastic offering that I couldn't resist! When you walk in to San Diego Kabob Shack, it really isn't the most eye-appealing restaurant you'll ever visit by any means. But the magic is much more on the menu than the shop's appearance. On that note, I will say that it is clean inside as the inspection grade "A" shows, so overall you'll generally feel comfortable eating here. Today I visited SDKS with a friend for the first time, and after looking at the menu, I instantly chose the gyro. My reasoning is simple when i comes to Mediterranean food stops: if they can't make a gyro right, then the rest they offer isn't gonna be right either. By the way! For those who may not know, pronounce the word "gyro" as "hero." Don't say it like it's spelled! If you say "hero," you're good to go :D As for my "hero," it may have been the very best one I have ever eaten. I mean that. Usually, when I get gyros the meat (beef/lamb combo) is either chewy or semi-chewy. The meat on this gyro was by far the most tender, nearly melt-in-the mouth offering as far the the meat goes that I've ever had. And it tasted absolutely awesome too! Besides that, the ingredients inside the fantastic pita bread we generous, filling, and fully satisfying! I do plan to chart this restaurant as one of my go-to faves in the future! I will say, in addition, my friend said her falafel on pita bread was off the charts amazing too! I didn't taste any of it, but she's a Yelp writer on occasion, so I had no problem adding her assessment as part of my review! Hey! There's only a handful of tables available, but there's always been a table available for me in the evening time. They serve generous portions which is just enough to fulfill my hunger. I especially love their hot sauce, it tastes like tamarind and mangoes? The Gyro Pita Sandwich- Romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, house-made pickled turnip, topped with our creamy house sauce: Best gyro sandwich. Generous portion of meat and veggies. Zaatar French Fries- one of the best fries ever. Possibly even better than McDonald's fries. Greek salad- Romaine Lettuce, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Feta Cheese, Olives, Cucumbers, and Pepperoncinis. Topped with our house vinaigrette dressing: Their olives are surprisingly very potent. I love salty food, and their olives are 100% concentrated olives. The only con this place has is the fact that I have to choose what to eat each visit because every dish does not miss. I oscillate between the gyro plate and and the chicken kabob plate usually, but have mixed it up with their koobideh. Have tried the chicken korma which is a nice flavorful stew which also slaps and is super comforting. Their wraps are always filling and fresh. I've had their countless salad combinations and the home made dressing could literally be drizzled on some grass and it would be a hit. Today I tried their World Famous Koobideh burger cause my algorithm convinced me and I'm now adding another dish to the rotation.
