This was my first time trying Sabor Mex Kitchen. I called in my order, but it sounded like it was hard to hear me over the phone. I ordered two pupusas with rice and beans and two tacos. The employee had to ask me several times to repeat my order. When I arrived, they had prepared two carne asada plates with rice and beans and a plate with two pupusas and rice and beans, and wanted to charge me about $50. I politely explained that I had only ordered the pupusas with rice and beans and two tacos. He didn't argue with me, but the way he responded was very disrespectful and really pissed me off. I didn't want to wait another 15 minutes for the tacos to be made, so I just left with the pupusas. The pupusas were good, and the lady at the front was very kind. Unfortunately, my first experience was ruined by the way the employee treated me. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend calling in an order. I would have probably given them another chance by ordering in person, but after the disrespect I experienced, I don't plan on going back. read more

This is my first time visiting this establishment. I got to say that I am very impressed. I had a pupusa with jalapeño and cheese, and two Carne Asada tacos. The flavor of the pupusa was very good. It was not very spicy and the curtido that goes with It, was also very delicious. The flavor and the carne Asada tacos was also very delicious. I will definitely come and visit this restaurant again. My husband had the Menudo, he loved it. I had a taste and iIt had very good flavor. It's a clean restaurant. The service was good. I do recommend this place if you are ever in downtown Fairfield. We came back about an hour later to buy more Pupusas to take to go. I got a loroko, a zucchini, a bean and cheese and a revuelta. I will have to come back and add that in. read more

I was craving caldo de res on a chilly Sunday afternoon, and after browsing Yelp, this spot popped up so I had to check it out. And wow, I'm so glad I did! The place is medium-sized, super clean, with about 50 seats, two TVs, and plenty of space. It wasn't busy, which made it nice and peaceful. We were greeted right away by the nicest gentleman who took our order super friendly and patient while we looked over the menu. We ordered the caldo de res and it was *amazing*. Perfect for a cold day! The meat was unbelievably tender, the veggies were full of flavor, and the sides of onions, cilantro, and lime just made everything even better. Then came the tortillas... flour, corn, or handmade. And seriously handmade is the only right answer. They were insanely good. Pure deliciousness. We also got chips and guac, and the guacamole was spot-on fresh, flavorful, with perfectly chopped onions. They also have agua de Jamaica, horchata, and fresa, which just made the whole meal even better. I really wanted to try their pupusas too, so that's a guaranteed reason to come back. Okay, I gave this place another shot. This time I personally went in and got to experience the atmosphere. Kevin, the young man helping was super informative, friendly, and helpful 5/5. The inside is clean, with minimal decor but brightly colored, 3.5/5. I ordered a carnitas torta with jalapeño on the side, one Revuelta, and two Cheese and zucchini pupusas. The torta was soooo delicious, the bread was chewy and well toasted, carnitas juicy and flavorful, and the perfect amount of beans was layered on, this was a hard 4.8/5 for me. The pupusas was well cooked, the revuelta was well marinated but I would have preferred it be cooked a little longer with just a bit more cheese, 4.25/5, the zucchini and cheese was filled with lots of cheese and I really enjoyed that 4.75/5. The pickled cabbage had a good amount of oregano, and so I ate it all 4.25/5. Overall, I do still give a 4.4/5, but I'm gonna give 5 stars because Kevin really made the experience pleasant and he should be given props! read more

We definitely never ever coming back and zero recommendations for this place. I live in Sacramento and I haven't found ANY good Mexican food in my area and my sister who lives in suisun always talks so highly about this place so we gave it a try tonight and I wasn't disappointed at all. Tried this spot today and was pleased to get chips and salsa to the table. The girl was really friendly and the food came out quick. I got the carnitas plate, the meat was a bit chewy, my wife described the taste as "weird and old". The rice and beans were good. My wife got the camarones a La diabla, the sauce was rich with a nice spice to it. Shrimps were cooked nicely. The interior is low budget with a few TVs that were unfortunately playing some sort of infomercial at an annoying volume. The food to price ratio is very good. I ordered the super burrito and honestly one of the better burritos that I've had for the convenience of it being so close to my school. This location is in a very accessible location; I don't like how the windows are completely open though. I think It'd be more comforting if there were blinds covering the windows for at least some privacy. This place is cash friendly and they accept most forms of payment. The staff is very friendly and will tend to whatever you need or however you want to pay. In the last month I gave this place a try twice. On a Sunday morning I ordered menudo for the family. The menudo is 5/10 could use more salt and spice in the broth of course it's probably intentionally made this way for personal preference. The second time I order a chimichanga and a wet burrito. My burrito was good 7/10 I was only bummed they didn't give me what I paid for. I ordered and paid for a super wet burrito and instead I got a regular burrito. The pork in the mix flavor was a bit salty. I've also had the sope with carnitas and shredded beef. I prefer the carnitas. They were huge and filled with rice and beans + avocado , etc.. My crew said they were delicious and big. So more than enough food. They do serve menudo there too which I love and didn't have at the time, but if ever in that area (I'm from Concord) I will certainly have that dish and report back. I saw that there was a new Mexican place opening in Fairfield so I thought I should give it a try. I am big on first impressions...salsa is the biggest factor in my initial judgement of any good Mexican restaurant. That being said, I was not impressed right away. The green sauce is tasty, but the other soupy red sauce was no bueno. The chips seem to be made on site. They were tasty enough. The menu is pretty diverse, there are plenty of choices. To try out a new Mexican place I always get the same things. Carne asada tacos and carnitas tacos. Everything else is for a second time. The carne asada was cooked well, but lacked seasoning. The tacos came with cilantro and onions, but was missing any sort of sauce. I tasted it as is first, then immediately added some of the green sauce. The tortillas were a little burnt which overwhelmed the flavor of the taco. Next up the carnitas tacos. Again no sauce on the taco! The flavor of the carnitas was good. The taco needed sauce, which I poured on. The carnitas was very tasty... But a little dry. The inside of the restaurant is very nice, lots of natural light. There is plenty of room to spread out and large flat screen tvs are on every wall. The kitchen was a bit slow, maybe they are getting used to things still. The staff are very friendly and they try hard to make sure your taken care of. Bottom line... If your gonna open up a Mexican restaurant right down the block from Alexandros you have to bring your A game. Things like salsa and seasonings are key. I want to see this place make it...Fairfield needs good restaurants...I hope they can iron out the small kinks and make this a great spot. read more
