A quick search led us to Sacred Ground Café, quietly tucked into Cheyenne Canyon yet conveniently located just off Cheyenne Boulevard. It felt like a hidden gem--secluded enough to feel special, but easy enough to find without effort. As we pulled up, we immediately noticed the charm of the historic building, proudly bearing the year 1907 on its façade. You can't help but wonder about the stories those walls could tell. The parking situation is a bit tight, with limited spaces directly in front of the café, but manageable if you arrive at a quieter hour. Just outside, there's an adorable covered patio complete with a bar area--clearly a lovely setting for warmer months or an afternoon gathering. Since it was early morning in February, we opted for the warmth of the indoors. Stepping inside, I was greeted by original wood floors and eclectic European-inspired décor that exuded cozy, unmistakable hygge vibes. The atmosphere felt intimate yet relaxed, with seating for roughly 30 guests. At that hour, only one other couple lingered in the dining room, adding to the calm, unhurried feel. We approached the counter and were instantly tempted by an array of pastries and house-made treats. Though there was a full breakfast menu available, time wasn't on our side, so we chose to share a muffin and ordered two lattes. The barista was warm and efficient, taking our order with ease and delivering the coffees directly to our table once ready. As we savored our lattes and muffin, a local family arrived for breakfast, greeting the staff in a way that suggested this was a regular ritual. It quickly became clear that Sacred Ground isn't just a café--it's a gathering place. From the posted events and menu offerings, it appears the space comes alive in the afternoons and evenings as well, offering more than just coffee to the community. Given its inviting atmosphere, thoughtful menu, and picturesque location, it's easy to see why this café has become a beloved neighborhood staple. We walked over here this morning for breakfast, from the broadmoor, as we wanted to enjoy something a bit more local. We walked through some residential areas, and it's about a 15 min walk from the hotel. There is parking out front, and the restaurant itself is situated in a residential area. Walking in, we noticed how small, but cozy it is. There are five two-top tables, and three bigger tables for four-ish. We were greeted right away when we walked in, ordered from the counter, and were provided with a number to place on our table. We were both super excited to see that they are still offering eggnog lattes (1/17/26) - 10/10 highly recommend. On to the food - I had the traditional eggs Benedict, which came with plenty of hollandaise, and roasted asparagus. The dish itself was delicious, and also very reasonably portioned. We will absolutely be back to explore more of the menu! read more

I had been hearing about the honey cake here for several years so when I was trying to find a nice spot for something different I was delighted to see they serve dinner. We decided to check them out. Nestled back off Cheyenne Road they are located in a beautiful space. The cafe itself was super cozy and decorated in its winter finest with lights and trees. We were greeted by staff at 5p on a Friday night. It was empty inside absent one other party of two that left shortly after we arrived. We ordered drinks and started with potato soup and French onion soup. The soup was delicious. My husband loves French onion and this came out with garlic croutons and melty Gruyère cheese. My potato soup was piping hot, full of potatoes and sausage which was a welcome change from traditional potato. Our cocktails-a margarita and a canyon express on ice were also very good. Perfect pours on both, and in the canyon express, you got all of the notes of the espresso without the alcohol overwhelming the flavors. For dinner, my husband chose the sausage lasagna and I chose the beef tenderloin. Our food was brought out and it looked great. The plates were nicely put together. My husband didn't care for the lasagna, it wasn't very cheesy and it had a sour flavor to it that we couldn't identify. My beef tenderloin was oddly overcooked but only lukewarm as far as temperature. I wasn't asked what temperature I wanted it so I wasn't sure what to expect. The menu indicated the tenderloin came with chimichurri and scalloped potatoes. The chimichurri was a pop of bright flavor on top of the slices of meat which was nice as the tenderloin didn't have any flavor of its own. The scalloped potatoes were just sliced potatoes that appeared to be cooked in a pan together without a sauce. They lacked flavor. We moved on to the honey cake which came out warm with whipped cream. This was the absolute star of the show. This piece of cake was full of warm honey, moist cake and was the bright spot of the evening. With coffee, it would have been a delicious start or ending to a day. The staff was incredibly kind and the environment was cozy and warm. I would definitely come back for the cake but definitely wouldn't be back for dinner. read more

The outside seating was beautifully decorated with flowers. The side of the building, especially, had a garden feel and was completely shaded. The baristas were pleasant and helpful. As out of towners who try not to act like it (!) we have to say SG is really one of those places you really must try when in Springs. It is on a lovely street and just about as quaint and friendly as one would expect when you go in. We just had breakfast twice but we would have gone back more often had we had more time. The Broadmoor is close for a walk, closer by car and easy to find. We had the Avocado Toast, Sacred Ground French Toast and the Sacred Ground Scramble and it was all delicious. Took some pastries with us and cannot rave enough. The owner's son was taking care of the place on our first visit and the owner was there on our second. Very, very nice and friendly people. This is an exceptional cafe near the Broadmoor! I've passed it many times on my way to or from hiking in north Cheyenne canyon and finally stopped by after my past weekend hike to mount muscoco. The exterior and interior are both so charming and cozy and the baristas are friendly and helpful! I ordered a dirty chai latte with oat milk and it was one of the best I've had in the springs; much more vanilla than spicy. I noticed the variety of food and pastry items as well, including some fabulous looking macaroons. This is a great place for a coffee, breakfast or quick stop after a hike. read more

We enjoyed a lovely dinner outdoors under a star-filled sky, while a buck ambled across the street. Dining nirvana. Tucked in the canyon among the trees and wildlife, Sacred Ground checks all the boxes: delicious food, excellent, friendly service, charming atmosphere, and a very accommodating owner (modifying one of the dishes on the menu to accommodate my nondairy request was no problem), who is not only a very talented cook but also an incredible painter (she painted the beautiful, bigger-than-life painting of her grandmother on the wall). We were pleasantly surprised to discover that Sacred Ground offers dinner Fridays & Saturdays (as well as breakfast & lunch Tuesday-Sunday). A cute little coffee shop housed in an old frontier storefront I think was a mercantile that served gold miners. Located at the mouth of North Cheyenne Cañon, their name is apropos as this was once native land. Their coffee is good and they have small eats. Nice staff. read more

This place is a disaster masquerading as a café. First of all, good luck parking. There's no dedicated spot, and the owner clearly didn't think that through -- unless she thinks her customers should park in a ditch or on the sidewalk like maniacs. Honestly, with her planning skills, it's a miracle the building isn't upside down. Speaking of the owner... she's got the customer service skills of a wet mop and the charm of a traffic ticket. She greeted us like we were interrupting her very important job of glaring at the wall. Rude doesn't even begin to describe it -- more like actively hostile. I asked a simple question about the menu and got a snarky answer that made me want to walk right out (and I should have). The coffee tasted like burnt regret, and the pastry I got was so stale I considered using it as a paperweight. The atmosphere? Cold, awkward, and about as welcoming as a tax audit. This place is a perfect example of how not to run a business. Save your money. Go literally anywhere else. Even gas station coffee would be a step up. read more

I googled this cute little place while staying at the Broadmoor. There was a very nice young lady there that we loved and wished we had only interacted with her. There was an older woman with a accent that came across as very rude. My husband and I asked her a few questions and her answers were curt. My salmon burger was very good. I really enjoyed the sweet relish they put on it. My husband enjoyed his squash soup. I ordered 2 pistachio macarons; they were very sweet and not the best I've had. I think the location of this quaint cafe makes it all the more dreamy. Tucked away amongst the trees and mountain side is an adorable cafe with some delicious food (I've only had breakfast so far, but it was yummy) and a slice of serenity. My friend and I went on a beautiful sunny Tuesday morning and were lucky enough to have this little slice of heaven to ourselves. We sat in the back, that was covered in sun and greenery, and as you can imagine being alone didn't last long, not that it was necessary to enjoy ourselves, but it was fun. The service was so friendly and helpful. So friendly that when we showed up a few minutes early and stood outside across the street waiting and talking, the friendly woman (you know me and names) unlocked the door, smiled and waved us in. The food is fairly good, but expensive especially the sandwiches. Don't come here for the coffee though. I ordered an iced latte and it was 98% milk. My friend got coffee as well and had to send it back. However, the owner questioned my friend and even humiliated her staff in front of us. The owner genuinely acts annoyed by customers being there and asking questions. Overall though the space is really cute especially the patio. The staff is nice too it's just the owner, the lady with the heavy accent, who is not friendly and generally unpleasant. It would have been better if she wasn't at the front and maybe managing the store away from customers because she doesn't seem to like interacting with people. read more

This is one of those times that a place caught our eye while driving past and we decided to stop and we are glad we did! I had the butternut squash soup which was unexpectedly thick but very flavorful and the Greek quinoa salad which was also very good. Husband had the French Dip sandwich which was good but not excellent. Leave room for dessert - the pie crusts were very flaky and obviously from scratch and the honey cake was very sweet. Saw this cute cafe-in-a-house on our way up to Helen Hunt Falls and made the time to stop by afterward for coffee. The location is super cute, with fluffy blankets on the patio chairs for cooler mornings and plenty of seating. Bonus points for having a food menu available (with vegan options!) and not just pastries and snacks like some coffee shops. We got a hot chai latte and a rose latte and they were fairly busy and there was only the one barista/cashier. Drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time and the chai was great but the latte was awful- there was no flavoring in it and the roast had an off, burnt taste to it? Not ideal. Cute place though, and perfect for stopping before or after hitting up the nearby trails. read more

I always wanted to try Sacred Grounds. I thought I would try their delicious soup, salad, or a sandwich, but I couldn't deny the delightful desserts that were both beautiful and scrumptious. I ended up eating a slice of the lemon blueberry cake, and took home a slice of the cheesecake with ladyfingers and candied blackberries and blueberries! Their desserts are a must try.
